New Yorkers For Children Gala
Date of Scene: 06 November 2022
Location: Mandarin Oriental, NYC
Synopsis: The charity gala goes off without a hitch. Or well...until the end of course!
Cast of Characters: Priscilla Camilleri, Johnny Storm, Diana Prince, Michael Hannigan, Bruce Wayne, Henry McCoy, Roberto da Costa, Kitty Pryde, Alexis Carr

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
It's a lovely Autumn night in New York City and for those that keep track of the cities biggest fundraisers there is one happening tonight. New Yorkers For Children Gala is one of the highlights of the social calendar here in New York and while it is not the MET Gala there is still the level of opulence and stunning outfits that go with the event. And people that are willing and eager to shell out big amounts of money to make sure that kids are well taken care of.

Attendees are guided up a red carpet, much like other galas. There is a sea of reporters and news crews that are there to see who is in attendance and to take pictures to feed the tabloids and other news outlets. Plus they want to know 'WHO ARE YOU WEARING?!' at some point. So people can expect to be in some newspaper, online news site or other outlets.

There is entertainment and food worth the price of the ticket to get in and there is plenty of networking to do once inside. It's a veritable who is who of NYC's upper crust and those that throw around A LOT of money. A good time to pitch that idea you had for a grant, really!

Doctor Priscilla Camilleri had arrived before the Gala had began, being part of opening ceremonies had helped with that and she was playing stand in hostess when people needed her. But right now the golden eyed woman was awaiting her date near where the carpet started. She's wearing a very spectacular looking red tafetta gown and the red diamond that's shaped into a heart is around her throat. She's been talking to those going by with a smile, words of encouragment sent to those that looked hesitant about walking the red carpet. "Just feel the fantasy." she'd whispered to one couple.

Which made them giggle.

Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny Storm is wearing a highly striking tuxedo, black with an orange shirt and tie of all things, a pair of amber-tinted sunglasses on. He's trying out a stylist, which is not something he's ever done before, and he's already having regrets as he sees himself in the quick flash screens of the selfies he takes.

He looks like n old man pretending to be young, still.

Quickly, he takes off the glasses and pushes his way into the gala proper, smoothing down his spiked hair with a rough hand.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana was here on her alone, as she was one to do, never that concerned with having to arrive on someone's arm.

Dressed in a maroon colored number, it shows off her back and her arms, connecting up behind her neck where her hair is pooled up in a braided hairstyle that helps keep her shoulders bared, and visible. She's wearing a fair amount of makeup to help accentuate her natural features, and her eyes are smoked around by a hazey hue to help them stand out as she stares from one point to the next.

The form of Diana is taller than 6 feet with three inch heels on tonight, and she walks with a graceful sway in to the gala event, having spoken some to the people outside lining the crimson carpetway.

But once inside, Diana is given a drink by a wait staff member, and she raises it to her dusky rusty red hued lips to take a sip from it, before her name is called out and she offers a smile and a wave to a familiar face across the distance from where she's standing for the moment.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
While no billionaire by any sense of the imagination, Nick Drago is probably at a stage one would use the term 'comfortable'. But money is likely not the reason why he made the list of invites. Instead it is likely his track record for getting involved and drawing in some of the people who DO make the big donations. To add to this, the rock star turned actor is no stranger to child related charities and has done quite a few turns on the Make a Wish Appearances catwalk.

As this is one of the better dressed events he ends up getting pulled into. Nick is actually wearing a suit. A pop of red dress shirt provides some sufficient contrast to the black of the suit. There is no tie. Instead of sporting the wild hair he would typically have for a stage show, his locks have been pulled back into a neat ponytail. A band matching the color of the dress shirt holds it together. Due to the incessant use of flash, he too has opted for wearing his sunglasses at night, to protect himself from photographers with bulbs so bright.

Hearing his name, he pauses on his walk in. Turning, he gives a relaxed smile to the camera, waits a few moments for them to get their fill, and continues on his way in. When the risk of nonstop blinding lights go away, so do the sunglasses.

Bruce Wayne has posed:
The media know Bruce Wayne has been characteristically absent from the public eye lately. Save for a brief apperance at his own birthdy party and some paparazzi photos at a dumpling restaurant in Gotham's Chinatown, he has withdrawn from public life considerably ever since taking up with Gotham socialite and philanthropist Selina Kyle. So it's quite a get when a hired town car rolls up to the red carpet and the so-called Prince of Gotham steps out of the back in a finely-tailored tuxedo and his trademark amicable smile.

"Gieves and Hawks," he answers the question of one society reporter when they ask who he's wearing, though he smiles and pretends to miss questions asking where Selina is and where he's been hiding.

"Oh, you know, St. Kitts sure beats a Gotham winter but all things in moderation ... unless it's a 1928 Krug, of course.

He steps away to a chorus of polite laughter that only billionaires can expect when they tell a half-assed joke. Once inside, he steps up to Diana and in the absence of any close-at-hand listeners, the pleasant jovial tone leaves his voice.

"Want to run a distraction for me later so I can leave?"

Henry McCoy has posed:
Always one to be a philanthropist, Henry wasn't going to miss the event tonight! He'd arrived fashionably late, dressed to the nines. A custom tailored tuxedo, specifically designed to fit his broad fuzzy frame. The extra wide shoes are polished to a mirror shine, completing the outfit. Pausing for photos, as is polite, he nods to those who might be taking the pictures before heading into the gala proper.

Once inside, he provides his invitation - though it's seriously doubtful that those checking the list would mistake him for anyone else. Taking a drink in hand after, he steps to the side to look around the party. Smiles are offered over to those who he knows, and even those he doesn't. Henry is friendly, after all.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Convincing Kitty to come to the gala had not beenn easy. This was not her world and while she was an adventurer and could hold her own in world ending situations the social scene was just not her forte. So, when all else failed he tried honesty, she was smart and gorgeous and one of his best friends, the one least likely to stab someone or blow something up. There were also the kids, but the tickets had been bought and the donation made so that was almost a moot point
So, one Pretty Woman/She's all that makeover montage later. Roberto pulls up to the gala in his trademark Maserati. He gets out and smiles to the crowd. Dressed in a black suit, black tie and black shirt all precisely same shade even his povket square matches. He goes around and opens the door for Kitty. Helping her put and using his powers to brunt the flash bulb explosion as the striking brunette emerges. Roberto smiles and takes her arm leading her at a sedate pace towards the event. Well aware of the average travel rate of a woman in heels.

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
Priscilla had been standing off to the side awaiting Henry, but the man seems to have already made his way through the gauntlet of cameras and into the gala proper. She looks down to the ground and then gives a smile as there are people that pass her and then she looks up to greet them. Once the line is dwindling, she decides to make her way around the cameras and slip back inside quietly. She'd had her fill of cameras really.

Once everyone is inside, the doors are closed and there is a camera team that keeps a very low profile inside, taking pictures of the event so that it can be added to the books and things. There are a few groups of the high society folks that are roaming much like a pack of wolves, trying to find the billionaires to see if they can wring more money out of them. It's quite the task really.

There is lots of food on the buffet and the alcohol is free flowing already. It's going to be a great night, if most people stay sober...ish.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde walks up the red carpet on Roberto's arm. She's wearing a blue dress with a skirt consisting of layers of thin silk, beautifully arranged. A diamond choker is about her neck, and a platinum bracelet adorns one wrist.

Kitty moves gracefully at Roberto's side. Someone calls out asking who she's wearing and she replies it's a Louis Vuitton. She stops to smile for the photos when Roberto does, and then follows his lead as he heads up inside. One of the photographers calls out, "Good to see you on the carpet again, Kitty!" She smiles back to the man then gives Roberto's hand a soft squeeze. "Thank you for inviting me tonight," she tells the Brazilian man. "I think perhaps Hank is going to be here tonight," she says to him.

Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny Storm would normally have steered his way towards the bar. Except he quit drinking. Very publicly. So, even if he wanted to be bad (and he doesn't, even if part of him will always whine about it), he can't in front of the whole paparazzi world. Well. A small portion of it anyway.

What did people do at these damn things if they didn't get drunk?

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana turns just as Bruce arrives at her location, almost like she was anticipating his arrival before it happened. She lowers her glass down, and a smile is already on her lips waiting for him. She feigns a little laugh at what he says to her, and then leans in so their faces are side by side, and she speaks softly in to his ear.

"Not a chance. You are here now, and thus you will be as long as I am." She states in a low tone before leaning back again and shooting him a warm expression.

Her eyes dance to the side to see the arrival of others. She sees Hank McCoy, and is happy to see a member of Xaviers School on-hand tonight as she is good friends with Charles.

But her eyes go back to Bruce. "I'll admit, however. I'm surprised to see you here." Diana tells Bruce in her thickly Themysciran accented voice, before another sip of that bubbly drink is had by the Princess.

Alexis Carr has posed:
She hated coming to these things. She'd sometimes come across Hellfire Club members who recalled her face, and that one time she might have been on Shaw's arm. Or she runs into rich old people who remember her as the brightest PRO-HUMANA performer and inqurired to how her father (who claimed she was dead and replaced by a mutant)...

... or worse. A student's parent. Gone is the tired and harried ballet teacher visage, and out came the luxurious, heir-apparent-to-the-wine-fortune Allegra Caradenza, an Italian songbird, violinist and pianist, world-class ballerina, and former participant in 'Celtic Women for Metahuman Haters'. She's wearing a splendit and silver-tinged rainbow shrug over her shoulders, over a black ballgown beset with hundreds of diamonds, arriving alone.

Her dark hair was pulled into an elegant up-do, braided in spots to keep it very neat, and a silvery necklace hangs around her olive-toned neck.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto da Costa smiles raising an eybrow at the photographer's comment. "Back on the red carpet? Is there something I should know?" He shows the invite and ushers Kitty into the party. They circulate the room networking greeting and being greeted. But, for these twoit will always be about one thing and as the band warms up Roberto leads the New Mutants babysitter onto the dance floor.

Bruce Wayne has posed:
"So much for being stalwart team-mates," Bruce snorts, reaching to take a glass from an offered tray and turning his attention back to Diana, "I'll remember this next time you come asking for funding on some art center."

Mostly joking. Mostly.

Her statement draws a faint shrug from the man, staring over his glass at the gathered people. He recognizes almost all of them, of course, but is already making a mental inventory of who he should pretend he doesn't know for the sake of keeping up the guise of air-headed Bruce Wayne.

"You and me both. I owe Alfred one charitable appearance per quarter and apparently I was ... " he checks the Tourbillion watch at his wrist, " ... four years past due."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Seeing the flash of blue at the party, Nick lifts a hand to wave to the furry doctor. It's been a long time since he last saw the other Hank, but some people are just hard to forget.

As a person comes by with a tray ladden with drinks, Nick shakes his head. He's not quite in the mindset for drinking just yet.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Once inside, Kitty's eyes go around the place. Taking in the splendor of the room and the people in it. Her eyes pick out a few familiar faces, more for her knowing them than for them knowing her. Though she does find Henry McCoy easily enough. He's large, not to mention the blue head. When she catches his eye she breaks out in a big smile and waves over to him.

Kitty keeps her hand in Roberto's as he leads her over to the dance floor. "Ah, I didn't realize you didn't know, but then I know you were in Brazil for awhile," she tells him. "Warren and I were fairly, together. For about a year. I had to get used to getting my picture snapped here and there with him," she tells Roberto. "We split the end of last year. It wasn't a bad parting. Just his demands were so much with his company that we were barely seeing each other. Decided maybe our timing wasn't right and it would be best to separate."

Once out on the dance floor, she slides her hand up onto Roberto's shoulder, other hand in his as they begin dancing to the music.

Henry McCoy has posed:
It's not normal for Henry to be so oblivious. Perhaps it was the swarm of flashes from the cameras, perhaps it was the noise - or maybe all the scents in the air. Regardless, he clearly missed his cue! It's not difficult for him to spot the hostess after she's slipped in. There's a pained look on his face for having missed her on the red carpet, even as he moves over in her direction. He gives a polite clearing of his throat as he gets close enough.

"Dr. Camilleri, fancy meeting you here." He offers over, giving a slight bow at the waist. "Sorry I missed you outside." The man offers over by way of apology. "Quite the turn out." He mentions, looking over the assembled dignitaries. A wave to Nick, then to Kitty and Roberto. Even one to Diana and Bruce, having met them in passing.

Diana Prince has posed:
"Alfred..." Diana says with affection thickly lacing the word. She looks over to Bruce and shows it to him on her face. "He should be paid more." She says then, further keeping the teasing up in a good natured sort of way.

She had noticed Johnny at the bar, and had offered him a wave, but he seemed a bit preoccupied with what it is that Johnny Storm's do.

Her eyes go back over to Bruce then and she holds her drink between her hands in front of her maroon cloth covered stomach. "Where is Selina?" She asks, glancing about. 'I would've expected her here to help keep you safe this evening." She notes, showing one more small smile to bruce then.

When someone approaches her for just a moment to shake hands and offer a few kind words, Diana shares them with the older gentleman, before he is pulled away by his much younger date for the evening. This leaves Diana showing a light grin as she casts her eyes around and then looks back to Bruce once more.

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
Priscilla wasn't a fan of the crowding of these things sometimes, but she was wearing that practiced smile of hers as she speaks with people. Henry's approach is hard to miss given his height and his blueness. There is a warmer smile for the man, "It gets very chaotic outside, Doctor McCoy." she tells him as she looks to him. "Nothing to apologize for. I was afraid you had a hot date to get to." she teases him with a wink.

The Maltese woman excuses herself from the conversation she's currently in and steps over to Henry, "I'm not on official hostess duty, just if the main ones need a break from things, so if you'd like to dance or wander and talk to people we can." she tells him.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
As Roberto dances Kitty around the floor, she spots Alexis Carr making her way in and moving through the room. Kitty gives Roberto's shoulder a small nudge and motions towards the young heiress.

The pair are near to the edge of the dance floor where she's passing, and stop their dance long enough to move over over to her. "Alexis, right? It's Kitty," she offers in greeting. "I went to school with Sam. There was that pool party, oh, two years ago I think? As did Roberto. Roberto da Costa," she says to introduce Roberto if needed. She knows how close Sam and Roberto are, but is unsure if Roberto was around when Sam and Alexis were together.

Kitty smiles and says, "You're looking lovely. It's nice to see you again. A great cause, this."

Bruce Wayne has posed:
"He's a trustee of the largest family fortune in the world," Bruce tells Diana flatly, "He's getting paid more than enough. Honestly, I'm surprised he hasn't spiked my tea and bought a chain of islands in the Seychelles."

The question about Selina earns a vaguely furrowed brow from him as he takes a sip from his champagne flute. Or, at least, he seems to. In truth, he long ago mastered the art of pretending to drink and get drunk without touching a drop.

"Out. She's still very much an ... outdoor cat," he lets the joke that might only mean something to a handful of people sit for a moment, watching the man step up to shake her hand and then get pulled away, "Social media feeds are all talking about Themyscira. You just need to start selling toothbrushes and soap holders and you'd be the world's foremost luxury brand."

Alexis Carr has posed:
Yep. There it is. Allegra's cheeks turn a bright shade of red as she gives a small nod to Kitty.

"I'm familiar with Mr. da Costa, our families used to run in similar circles." Allegra gives a smile to Roberto with a gentle nod of her head, and then turns back to Kitty.

"Miss Pryde, it's good to see you again. It's nice to see familiar faces as I try to step back into public. It's unfortunate my father tried to declare me dead." she breathes out, "Usually it's the other way and the American parent declares himself Dad, isn't it?" she offers a joke.

"And it *is* a wonderful cause, my grandparents have determined that they've sent a cheque with me for the charity itself."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Getting a wave back from Henry, the musician smiles, contemplating heading over before seeing him being joined by another.

"Mr. Drago, good to see you."

Hearing his name, Nick turns around to see a well dressed man smiling back. He's very much aware of who the man is.

Time to get to work.

"Ah, Buona sera signore." Nick greets, "When is your flight back?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
A passing waiter is carrying a tray of champagne flutes. Roberto stops the man, asking Alexis if she'd like one, and getting one for Kitty and himself. Kitty takes it with a grateful smile to the Brazilian before looking back to Alexis.

"I hadn't realized that had happened," Kitty tells the other young woman quietly. "But glad that you're able to get out to something like this again," she says in a sympathetic tone. Though the loss of Alexis' father may have been of an entirely different sort than Kitty's loss had been, it still causes quite a strong feeling of empathy from Kitty. Especially as she witnessed a little of what Alexis went through first hand at the rally after Genosha.

Kitty's eyes fall on Nick Drago, and she asks the pair with her aloud, "That's that musician isn't it? I always am so bad with the names of band members," she comments, trying to dredge the name up from her memory.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana is of course letting her eyes roam over the attendees at the party this evening, but her conversationalist-friend in Bruce has her attention ultimately. "Ah, true enough. Well good, he has earned it." She says of Alfred before a small smile is shown at the talk of Themyscira. "I... believe we do have some stuff for sale here and there, especially at the new Atlantic Starport location. Why I believe I saw some 'bobble heads' and some 'plushies'." She says, grinning softly, but she's serious.... right? Who knows!

"I am not so sure I will wish to get in to the actual game of providing scented candles, or odd cure-alls though. But, that being said, I do get a lot of Amazon jokes." She grins again before her eyes look away from Bruce. "Yes, Selina has always eemed like the kind who has trouble sitting still. Still, however, I enjoy seeing her, when the chances present themselves."

Another sip of her drink is had and another person is given a wave, and a nod when she is interacted with by them before she looks across the room toward the dancing.

Henry McCoy has posed:
There's a smile of relief on Henry's face, the man nodding to Priscilla. "I would say hot date, but that would be underselling the woman's appearance and personality." A wry grin, as he offers his hand to her. His drink is set down smoothly on a waitstaff's tray as they wander past. "If you do have time to dance, I would be honored to endeavor to not step on your toes." He teases. "These shoes, while they fit, are a bit ungainly." A snicker.

"Have you made the rounds with meeting the guests?" He wonders, looking from Priscilla to those who are dancing, conversing and drinking. "I wouldn't want to take you away from the social nicities?"

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
Priscilla gives polite greetings to those that pass and talk to her and Henry. Then she looks back to him and she chuckles, her hand reaching out to squeeze his arm warmly. "I wasn't bothered by it, please don't think I was, Henry." she tells him. She then gives a look to the dance floor, "I could go for a spin." she admits to that.

"I've greeted a few of the earlier arrivals and things. I'd be much happier with a dance and then going back to duties as I am needed." she admits to that. "So shall we?" she grins to him as she offers out her hand. "Have you made the rounds?" she asks him.

Bruce Wayne has posed:
"Deliver me from merchandising," Bruce murmurs into his drink and quietly lamenting things like 'Bat Burger' that have sprung up completely devoid of his own involvement. That's the problem with lawless vigilantes - they don't get intellectual property rights.

He remains quiet for the moment, letting Diana do the ambassadorial greeting thing. He gets more than his share of 'visitors' too, but there's no denying he's posted up near Wonder Woman so the brunt of the selfie and 'oh my god I love you' flak is borne by the Amazon.

"So, how are your visitors from distant worlds behaving?"

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto da Costa smiles and sips the champagne, "Yes, it's good that you're getting out. You get to be who you want and not the construct your parent had envisioned." It's a bit stiff the smile doesn't quite make it to his eyes, Kitty might notice but also has the ring of truth and experience. He follows Kate's gaze and frowns, "I am not sure. Mick maybe?" He noticed Diana glancing over towards the dance floor and raises his glass in salute with a smile, "Ambassador Prince is here, as well."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"I have a few more days." The man answers, "More meetings on Monday." He sighs, pausing long enough to take a sip of his champagne, "Lawyers. Boring. But tonight is a bit enjoyable at least."

Nick nods, "I am certain there is much appreciation in you buying a ticket to this event. Just as much as we appreciated you buying one for Holiday Hope."

"Yes. Money does sing. Doesn't it? Although, not as pleasantly as other things."

Henry McCoy has posed:
As his hand is taken, Henry nods to Priscilla and they move out towards the dancefloor. He looks pleased as punch, all too happy to dance. "I will have to find a way to make it up to you, regardless. If only for my own sanity." He assures the woman at his side.

There's a smile to her. "Well, there's a few of my former students here... looks like Mr. Wayne? Miss Prince? Mr. Storm?" He does a quick attendance list. "Oh! Mr. Drago..." All the names he knows off the top of his head.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana just smiles lightly, seeing the motion from Roberto, she waves back to him gently before her eyes sweep back to Bruce. "I'm sure you have heard of the Shi'ar situation." She notes to him, her glass of champagne sipped from once more, just a small sip. When she lowers it she shakes her head side to side causing the diamonds to sparkle in her earlobes in the ambient light of the hall around them.

"It has not been well. But... we are making progress, I believe. Additionally, Thor Odinson was opening a separate platform at the Starport that was to be dedicated to those arriving to our reality via other dimensions, and plains of existence. But, there was a hitch... so to speak, and now the Asgardian Prince himself has gone missing... So it is ever something, ever more, now and forever..."

Alexis Carr has posed:
Allegra has to hold a hand up. "I'm not old enough in this country, but thank you." she gives a small smile, folding her hands over her silvery clutch.

"I recognize quite a lot of the attendees. The Ambassador stunning, as usual. That does look like someone who works in my industry -- well. My old industry. I don't perform much these days..." she admits quietly, "Mostly just teach these days. Much... much safer that." she quietly qithdraws a touch. "It's good to see some familiar faces."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde takes a sip of the champagne that Roberto got her as well, her arm resting gently about his waist as she stands near at his side. "Oh, she's always so amazing isn't she? Just... poise, posture, bearing, beauty. Everything about her. If there's someone I don't mind being envious of, it's Wonder Woman," she says to Roberto with a soft grin. And if she knew how good Diana's hearing is and that it's at least possible that comment could have gotten caught despite the music and the multitude of conversations, she'd probably go crimson.

"I just turned old enough, finally," Kitty says back to Alexis. "It was truly disheartening in that I went to school at Oxford, and was able to drink freely. Even before I was 18. But then I come back to my own country and... 'too young'," she says with a sigh and a shake of her head.

Kitty looks back to Nick, looking thoughtful. "That kind of sounds right. Mick... something with a D?" she asks Roberto.

Meanwhile, the gentleman that Nick is talking to, seems to notice the small group that has been looking Nick's way as they try to remember his name. "I think maybe you have some fans," he comments, motioning towards Kitty and the others.

Bruce Wayne has posed:
"It feels like ringing the dinner gong to me," Bruce tells Diana flatly, offering a polite wave when he catches Doctor McCoy looking in his direction, "But what's that saying about unringing bells? You could afford me a closer look at these guests, you know."

Diana would well know what a closer look entails. Likely study on a psychological and physiological level that would put most of Earth's top scientific and sociological minds to shame. He's already been monitoring various black markets for the sale of xenological matter. There'd even been one claiming to have the corpse of a Shi'ar warrior, but closer investigation revealed it was just a plucked ostrich.

For all the shop talk, from afar Bruce looks like he's regaling Diana about skiing in the Swiss Alps or base-jumping in South America.

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
"I'm guessing you know a lot of people here." Priscilla gives a grin to Henry as she dances with him. "Are you still teaching?" she asks him as she makes sure not to step on /his/ toes. She was light on her feet, but still. "I took down all the Halloween decor finally. My bodyguard thought I was unwell over it." she muses to him.

There is a very shy looking gentleman that approaches the pair, looking like he doesn't want to interrupt the dance between the two, "Doctor Camilleri, there is someone that has requested to speak to you." they state in a calm tone. "Me?" she asks them. The man nods, confirming it. She gives a look to Henry, her gold eyes a bit bewildered, "I'll be right back hopefully. I'm sure this won't take long. You could always visit with one of your former students or others?" she offers before she parts from him. She then follows after the messenger.

Diana Prince has posed:
After lowering her glass from another drink, Diana spares another look over toward Kitty and Roberto's location. Had she heard Kitty's words? Surely not! She's so far away and there's so many people between their places!

With a light smile, Diana looks back to Bruce and his bolsterous hand gestures or body language, she knowing all too well he's playing up the Gotham Playboy angle tonight.

"We have to be ready to become a society with a wider border." She says of the Starport, which has been a personal project of hers for well over a year now. "My people, and the other countries that have helped us, have put a great deal of effort in to producing what we have today. There will be bumps, though, you know that there always is... especially when you venture in to new waters...."

She takes in a breath then and gives another quick look about before she regards him again. "Seven hundred new Amazons came from the sacred waters of our island's wellspring of lost souls. Seven hundred, Bruce. It has been dormant for a thousand years, and now... seven hundred new Amazons are on Themyscira, getting accustomed to a new life... a new way of life." She says this with a quiet tone, and a serious edge. "While we, the rest of us, figure out 'why' they have arrived, after so long of a wait."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Hearing the observation from his speaking companion, Nick tilts his head, catching a glimpse "Hmm. In that case. I should probably go speak with them. And once again." He nods his head to the man, "Grazie."

Parting ways, Nick turns to walk over. Coming to a stop before them, he gives a nod of greeting to the gathered trio. "Good evening," He greets. He pauses, looking to Alexis for a moment before he continues, "I'm Nick Drago." He supplies for them, actually remembering to do introductions first. "Are you three enjoying the event?"

Bruce Wayne has posed:
"Patterns are my specialty, Diana. Seeing them where others just see chaos. I don't need to remind you of that. I'll come take a closer look. If I remember right, you offered Selina and I the opportunity to vacation on Themyscira last year. Call this a working vacation."

When she looks in Roberto and Kitty's direction, Bruce follows her gaze. His own hearing isn't that honed, is it? Either way, he turns his attention back to the Themysciran Princess.

"Anyway, it looks like you need to give your admirers some face-time. I've got social media to catch up on. Apparently Bruce Wayne is more than a vapid charmer in a suit, he's evading taxes. Which, of course, I wish, but nothing draws attention to nocturnal vigilante activities more than an IRS audit. Have a good night, Diana."

He places a hand on her elbow and gives her a polite cheek kiss before dismissing himself.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde greets Nick with a smile as the celebrity comes over. "Yes, Nick Drago," she says as if they didn't have the wrong name for him. "We were just wondering if that was you, have never seen you in person before," she says.

She offers him her hand. "I'm Kitty Pryde. And this is Roberto da Costa," she says. "And Allegra Caradenza," Kitty says. Apparently having picked up she's not going by Alexis anymore. "What a wonderful event, isn't it?" she asks. "Enjoying it very much. Got in a dance already, and hopefully time for more later," she says. "And yourself? Are you having a good time?"

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
Priscilla is lead to where a few gentlemen are standing and she falls easily into conversation given she's used to being a hostess of these types of events. She is a bit curious why people wanted to talk to her though given she's not labelled as one of the hosts. She's polite and answering questions, until one of the men reach out quickly to try to snatch the necklace from around her throat.

Everything happens very quickly, there's a push forward, but the man finds resistance even with the tight grip on the chain. He jerks his hand away from Priscilla's neck, planning on the necklace going with it.

That is not what happens. There is a flash of warm golden light before a rush of magical energy knocks the assailant back a few feet and Priscilla ends up smacked against the wall from the force, hitting her head. There's the ebb of magic that dies out and by the time Priscilla can make heads or tails of what just went on there is security rushing to apprehend the would be robber and figure out what just happened themselves.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto da Costa raises an eyebrow with a smirk, "Me too, and Brasil is similar to Italy and the rest of the civilized world. I mean as heiress to a wine fortune it might be more dangerous to be seen without?" He chuckles easily.
"Wow, is that Bruce Wayne with her? They must have lit the Wayne signal."
Berto raises his eyebrows, glancing a bit chagrinned, at Kitty, "Right! Nick, Nick Drago, you were right Love." Roberto kisses Kitty's cheek. Berto's arm is around Kitty's waist and he hands off his champagne flute to offer Nick a handshake. "Hello Nick, I'm Roberto Da Costa, this is Kate Pryde and Allegra Caradenza. It's a lovely event, we're glad to be here."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana offers her cheek to Bruce and then shoots him a warm smile. "Behave yourself." She says softly on his way off. "And yes, you and Selina are welcome any time you are both able." She gives him a little finger wiggle then before she turns to the party once more and starts to walk at a casual stride through it, her eyes darting from face to face, offering smiles, more little waves and casual greetings to people who speak to her.

Henry McCoy has posed:
"I do teach, yes." Hank offers over to Priscilla at the question. "And yes, I know many people. Perks of being involved with the Avengers, you meet people. All over the world." A wry chuckle. As she mentions the Halloween decor, he chuckles. "Well, it is a themeatic choice to make, yes? The gothic decor is something people do maintain year round, depending on their tastes." Then she has to depart, duty calls. She's given a slight bow and let to take care of whatever is needed.

With his dance ended prematurely, he moves closer to where Roberto, Kitty and Alexis are conversing. "Good evening. Fancy meeting you all here?" The man grins.

He looks like he had more to say, but then there's that flash of light and people being beuing tossed to the wall.

Henry is in motion towards the assailant.

Alexis Carr has posed:
    There was an issue.

Allegra, already on edge, takes a couple of states back as she catches the flash, and decides that -- whatever it is -- she wants no part of it. As Kitty and Roberto are introduced to Nick Drago, she gives a numbled 'excuse me'-- and dismisses herself towards the bathrooms in order to get herself away.

She can feel her palms heating up uncomfortably hot.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Well, at least you can wonder no more." Nick replies back to Kitty's comment, "As for not seeing me, understandable. I generally dress differently to avoid being recognized when I'm off the clock."

Are Celebs supposed to admit to that?

The musician nods to each person as he runs through the names Kitty has given him. "Kitty... Roberto... and" He looks to Alexis, "Allegra, I feel like we have run into each other once before a long while ago. But I can't quite place where. You'll have to pardon me."

Unable to place the moment he gives a shrug before looking to Kitty, "It looks like a very good turnout. The fundraiser should be-" Feeling an odd sensation Nick stops. Blinking for a few moments before he turns his head, looking in the direction of the altercation. What the fluff?

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde's face lights up as Henry McCoy comes over to them. She goes over to give him a quick hug, or would, but then there is that flash as someone tries to take the necklace off of Hank's date.

Kitty immediately phases, having taught herself that as a self-defense mechanism when startled. She quickly reaches for Roberto and Hank, and though there's nothing to see visually that's different about them, she phases them both for those first few seconds, protecting her teammates as she is figuring out what happened.

Though Beast can pull away from her easily enough, his body becoming unphased again as Kitty's touch separates from him.

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
Priscilla looks to her hand and there's a bit of a blink, that magic wasn't from her. Felt like the necklace itself. Which completely confused her. The assailant is already being guided off by security and Priscilla's own bodyguard who had been quietly watching from the shadows. Because he got paid a lot of money to make sure she didn't get ran over. A few people help the woman up from the floor and she pats the back of her head, "Oh that's not good." she mutters as she feels a lump already starting.

"Please don't worry on things, just someone got a little too much alcohol and tried to grab something that wasn't theirs." she assures everyone. She was probably trying to run damage control. But she was guessing since only one person got confidant enough to grab at jewelry and got tackled quickly that there was no one else like that in the crowd.

Or if there was that the display had curbed the idea for them.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto da Costa stays next to Kitty. Hands on her waist as he raises an eyebrow, ready to follow her lead but also bracing to take flight. He glances around taking note of the security, "Security is moving in, seems like it was an attempted snatch and grab?" Berto glances after Alexis and frowns as she retreats making note of the direction if he needs to go after.

Henry McCoy has posed:
For a brief moment, Henry is intangible. Looking to Kitty, he nods. "Keep folks safe." Then he's bounding over towards Priscilla, where she's leaning against the wall. The culprit was caught already, so... that's not his concern. "Priscilla, are you all right?" He asks, looking her over - making sure there's no blood or other obvious injuries.

"What happened?" He whispers, looking over his shoulder to the man who had been captured. "Did he taze you or some such?" He asks, looking back to the woman who is still regaining her senses.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As Priscilla tries to assure the gathering that the situation is under control, Nick looks to the assailant being taken away. Pale eyes look back over to Priscilla.

"Seems security handled things quickly enough." Nick responds to Roberto's comments, "Pretty ballsy to be trying something like that here."

As Henry moves towards Priscilla, Nick looks back to the remaining tri-duo. Come to think of it she did leave in a flash. "Hmm. Is Allegra feeling well?"

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto da Costa smiles at Katherine, "I hope you appreciate the interesting places I bring you, Kit-Kat."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde watches to keep an eye on Hank. Though it would take a pretty unusual situation for him to not be able to handle himself. And with Wonder Woman in the room too, he probably has more than enough backup without her. Not that it seems he needs to do anything there.

Kitty turns to smile softly to Nick. "I'm not sure," she says. "I don't know her particularly well, but maybe it was a little upsetting to her?" she says. "It's very nice meeting you though," she tells him, the smile growing more as it seems the disturbance is over.

She turns back to Roberto and gives a quiet chuckle. "Definitely more than I was expecting," she tells him.

Priscilla Camilleri has posed:
"I just think he wanted the necklace, it is pretty priceless given red diamond is next to impossible to get." Priscilla tells Henry. She does look dazed though. "I...don't think he tazed me. But I know something happened and I didn't do it." she admits.

"I think I need to get some air...and make sure that my bodyguard doesn't beat that man before the police get a hold of him." she admits to him.
