Cast of Characters: Danny Rand, Dinah Lance

Danny Rand has posed:
A beautiful day in Gotham City for once. Not a cloud in sight, not any foreboding storm or people perched on gargoyles (that anyone could see, anyway)...it was just a beautiful day to be out and about. Danny Rand was still in Gotham City for a business meeting with some of the rich and wealthy in the city, and though he had not yet finished his business...he was also kinda hoping he would see Dinah again, for he was enraptured and enchanted by his interaction with her.

But, be it by a stroke of luck or a passing of Fate, Danny picks something up that is extremely familiar of her to him - her chi signature.

So, he follows the trail like a bloodhound tracks prey, and he finds himself at the Sherwood Florist. Though he'd probably been texting her a little bit too before this, idle flirting and just being a friendly person, sharing what he found about Hand operations stopping their advance into Gotham.

But all the same, he opens the door. He doesn't look anything like his iron fist outfit, nor does he look like the billionaire that he is. He's just wearing simple jeans, a nice shirt, and a dark green jacket with a dragon logo on the back.

Dinah Lance has posed:
It's a pretty typical day in Sherwood Florist, although Dinah really would like to be outside in the sun. She's working on a series of prom orders, adding one more boutineer to the growing line that's in the refrigerator.

For her part, Dinah is dressed pretty typically for work. Close-fitting jeans over boots, along with a white t-shirt. Hearing the door open she calls out. "Just a minute...!"

Cut, tie, place. Just so. Slipping yet another boutineer into a box, only then does she turn and look up. "Just browsing, or is there somthing I can help you with?" She doesn't seem to recognize him, at least not at first.

Danny Rand has posed:
"No rush!" Danny calls back after Dinah asks for just a minute, though he can understand that this is probably one of her busiest times outside of weddings or valentines day, everyone wants flowers for prom these days. Though while she's working, Danny is looking around the shop, checking out the various (and well-cared for) flowers that lace the entirety of the shop.

Though when Dinah finally comes out, Danny's eyes shift on over to her as she looks up at him. Is it weird that he finds Dinah just as beautiful in 'typical' appearance as she does when she's out kicking ass and taking names?

Up to her.

But, he approaches. "Well, something alongside the latter. Uhm.." he moves over to her and he says in a low voice. "Was hoping to get in touch with you. That guy ever end up talking?" he gives her a knowing smile. Though its a two-way street, he implies that he knows who she is, while also giving up his own identity.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance's smile is pleasant, her demeanor light and casual as well. She brushes off her hands lightly, nails manicured neatly. Clear polish. Blonde hair is in a ponytail, her makeup just a few touches.

And yet there's something about her, a certain athletic confidence as she moves easily from the back to the counter again. Something definitely familiar, even to those without a chi sense.

He mentions the other night, and while the smile remains her demeanor changes substantially. Something in the way her head tilts, her stance shifts, fingers flex. The Canary becomes a Raptor. The blonde's voice lowers, taking on the familiar huskiness of the other night when he met her costumed-self. "What do you want?"

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny smiles a little bit to Dinah as he rests his arms on the counter so they can speak more privately. Though Danny's eyes lock with Dinah, he smirks a little bit when she starts lowering her voice to that rough and tough woman who he met the other night.

Danny though takes on his familiar voice of....Danny Rand. He sounds pretty much exactly the same, actually. "What do I want? Well, dinner would be nice, but I prefer to be on a first name basis before I'm brave enough to ask." he teases her slightly with some serious humor.

"But I wanted to track ya down and ask: did the guy we put behind bars mention anything about Hand Movements through the city? Just want to be sure." He gestures to himself. "Iron Fist, by the way. My name's Danny Rand. Nice to meet you officially."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance immediately glances down to his hands, perhaps to check on the moniker. "Iron Fist? Black Canary, but please call me Dinah for conversational purposes." She also remains close, not that there's anyone else in the flower shop.

She pauses for a moment, shaking her head when the conversation shifts back to the perp. "He was pretty untalkative, and I'm not the sort of person to torture information out of someone." She pauses, shrugging. "I might've knocked him out again, besides."

"And hold the thought on dinner. How the hell did you find me, anyway? I'm not listed in some sort of directory that I've never heard of before, am I?"

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny smiles a little bit. "Dinah, nice to meet you." Whether its her real name or not, though Danny has a feeling she's telling the truth. He remains close as well, as if they are just having a private conversation. Her client isn't likely to show up anytime soon, but then again, what does Danny know? Definitely not her schedule.

Regardless, he nods a little bit with a light sigh. "Fair enough, and frankly, neither am I. though if a certain organization gets into this city...it might get bad." he shrugs.

Then she asks him the five million dollar question: how the hell did Danny Rand find her? "Well, to be honest, I got lucky. and nope, no directory. I can...sense people by their chi. Their life energy. Since I had met you before, I was just walking on the street and...well, here I am. I sensed and I followed."

Danny pauses.

"That sounds weird when I say it out loud."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance wrinkles her nose, then she chuckles softly. "Yeah, it kinda does." she replies. "So I beat up some goon on the street, and now you're asking me to dinner? That's a 'tentative yes', by the way."

Dinah studies his face more closely for a moment, then she adds. "That also sounds weird when you say it out loud. But I didn't know that I was giving off any 'chi' vibes, good or otherwise. Is that something you just... do?"

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny smiles to Dinah. "Hey, at least tentatively is not no, but I guess I better keep saying good things." he smiles at her for that moment, before he nods. "Well, yeah. I mean, I think you're pretty cool so far." he rubs the back of his neck a second, like he's nervous.

But! the conversation continues. "Chi is...kind of my thing. Not your fault, most people can't control it, but Chi is very learnable. though uh, in my case, I kind of killed a dragon." He waits for her to start laughing in his face.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance doesn't so much as blink when he mentions the dragon. "I'm no novice in the martial arts myself, so I'm familiar with the concept of Chi." she replies. "And I've also heard stories of people who can tap into it, controlling their own or even someone else's. Of course the latter is much more rare."

"So I'm cool enough for you to track down and ask to dinner? In some places they'd call that 'stalker' behavior, Danny. Might wanna work on your approach."

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny looks like he's about to die from the way Dinah just put it.

"Oh, nice. Whew, thats a bit of a relief, usually I think thats where I have to explain the concept of life energy, but you already know all about it. Sweet. Usually people start laughing at that part, just ask anyone in the Defenders. Yikes."

Danny chuckles, but then he rubs the back of his neck when he finally gets to the dinner aspect.

"To be fair, I followed for a follow-up on our special persons case, the dinner was the bonus question, if that helps. But then again, I really don't do this a lot...or ever, so...erm."

pause.

"Sorry." he smiles.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance chuckles softly, lashes lowering a touch when he apologizes. "If you could manage a blush, then I'd say you're very sweet." she offers in a low voice. "Actually, you're very sweet anyway." Pushing off of the counter, she straightens and turns towards the back to wash her hands.

Glancing back over her shoulder, she continues while watching him. "So what's your interest in that guy, anyway? You said something about the Hand earlier, and two people can cover more ground than just one."

Danny Rand has posed:
Now -that- makes Danny blush.

Danny seems to visibly gulp a minute, like he literally just got starstruck by her compliment, but he manages to get back on track when she asks him about the question.

Now that he's done checking her out, anyway.

"Yeah, my friends and I are tracking the Hand. Secret organization, responsible for world disasters, eternal enemy of K'un-Lun. Erm, that being where I was trained. Mystic community of sorts. But, I was going to question him to see if my suspicions were true. Looks like we might have to do some minor tailing if we want to solve my paranoia." he chuckles lightly.

"But, if you'd like to lend a hand, we certainly won't say no. I kinda hope you don't say no." because then he'd get to see her more.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance finishes washing, and steps over to a towel to dry her hands. "Can't promise that I'll be one hundred percent available, but I'd be happy to help however I can." she replies. Turning more directly towards him, then, she squints a little as if trying to divine something.

"So if I -did- say no, does that mean we won't have a second date? Not that I'm just into it for a free meal, of course, but a girl's gotta know where she stands."

Wait a minute, did she just say -second- date?

"I mean, I'm not sure whether you just like blondes, fishnets, or girls who can take care of themselves." A playful grin follows. "Or all of the above."

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny seems to smile a little wider when she agrees to be of assistance. "Thats great! You don't have to be around all the time you know, but any hlep is appreciated. Thank you, from all of us fighting the fight."

Then she toys iwth him a little bit, or is just seeing where his mind is about all of this. "Well, if you said no, I'd still go on the second date. and the third. and the fourth." he chuckles a little bit, implying that he would still be all in even if she denied assisting them. The Hand -is- kind of...well, everywhere. No shame at all in choosing not to get involved.

But he does blush at the almost-guarantee she just gave him.

"All of the above, really." He straightens himself up a bit so he can look her dead in the eyes as he rests his hands on the counter (which are clean). "and girls who do whats right for the sake of doing whats right without changing themselves to fit the quo, and are willing to tolerate nerds like me." Danny chuckles. "Not that I know that for a fact, or anything...just a hunch."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance hangs up the towel, facing him fully. Cocking her hip, she folds her arms and smirks. "Even if the girl makes a lot of mistakes along the way? Good intentions can only take you so far, after all."

She walks around the counter, then, meeting him on the other side. "So, then. I like Italian and Chinese, and I'm also a really big fan of street-food." Pause. "Yes, I know it's bad for me but I'll do an extra hour of cardio tomorrow. I can drive, if you don't mind riding behind me on a bike."

Danny Rand has posed:
"Of course. We're only human, right?" Danny replies with a bit of a smile.

Then she meets him on the other side and he straightens out to meet her, even if they are rather close. "Thankfully, I can do all of the above. Though how about we make a race of it. I can run -really- fast." its an interesting offer to be sure. "But I really don't mind driving behind you if you prefer." he winks.

"I mean, even I will make mistakes. So, you have my number, and I have yours. I'll see you soon, yeah?"

and good timing, because it looks like company is here: that being the clients. "I'll leave you too it. I'll see you soon." he winks at her as he makes his way out."
