School Decorations
Date of Scene: 16 October 2022
Location: Back Yard
Synopsis: Carol flies by, literally, and helps Kitty setting up some Halloween decorations outside the school.
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Carol Danvers

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde is outside, putting up a bunch of Halloween decorations in the back yard. She has some big two dimensional skeletons, witches and other appropriate figures that she's putting up on the fences around the tennis courts. There are a number of tied bundles of corn stalks to set around, and pumpkins both real and plastic ones with lights inside.

This isn't the big project for the school decorations, just some of the normal ones. Kitty hands Lockheed an extra tall skeleton poster and he flies it up against the fence while Kitty comes over and begins tying it in place with twist ties.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Let me give you a hand," comes the voice of Carol Danvers, dressed in bomber jacket and jeans as she descends from the sky. Once again, her hair is cropped short and she's on something of a 'no-nonsense chic' tear.

She doesn't really wait for permission, instead swooping in to pick up one of the pumpkin bundles and stepping into open air to place it somewhere up high and visible.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"Carol!" Kitty calls in a happy tone as she spots the Avenger flying down to join her. "Sure, will take all the help I can get," she says. "We're talking about doing a haunted house ride. We did a train around the school, including up on the second floor, for Christmas. Figured we can reuse the track but then make something else for the carts that people would ride in," she says.

The skeleton is secured, and that frees up Lockheed to fly over and circle about Carol excitedly before landing on her shoulder and giving her jaw a nuzzle. "So," Kitty asks, "How are things over in Avenger land? Save the planet since I saw you last?" she asks. "It's actually been about the quietest month I've had lately. Only had Rogue kidnapped and tried to take her away by portal to some other dimension. But her father came through from the other side."

It just says what kind of crazy lives they lead that she can just drop that info so matter of factly.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"I couldn't tell you," Carol admits, returning to earth and planting her hands thoughtfully on her hips, "There's a whole thing with a Kree migration that has me swamped. Definitely something happening with Thor but, y'know, never been a big fan of the whole 'I am a god' thing. An aliens an alien, no matter what hat you put on it."

She can't help but smirk a little at that.

"How's things here? How're the problem students?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"It's going pretty well. Kids are kids. Growing up mutant is rough. I mean it's all kind of to be expected," Kitty says as she gets out a plastic skeleton that is life-sized, and sets it on a bench. Then gets another one to sit beside it and starts posing them trying to work out exactly what to have them doing.

"There's often a bit of anger to work through, at how they get treated. Sometimes more than a bit. Keeping them seeing the merit of the Professor's Dream isn't always easy. But worth it," she says.

She ends up posing them with one skeleton putting its hand on the other's knee, while the other is slapping the first one. "Beyond that... life's pretty good. I'm thinking about finding work in the city again. I took a break from contract IT work after I broke up with Warren. Just kind of wanted to get away. Oh, and I turned 21! So finally I can be treated like an adult in my own country." A sore spot since she could drink while going to school in the UK and not even 18 yet.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"I suppose you could call it that," Carol muses in response to being treated like an adult, "Congratulations all the same. Still, moderations the thing."

She should talk, but she keeps that to herself with a slight sigh and intake of breath.

"I'm not sure why I came by, if I'm honest. Nobody I was really looking to see. I could say I was in the neighborhood, but that's true whenever I'm anywhere this side of the Kuiper Belt."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty grins over at the woman that she's known for a half dozen years already. "Hey, sometimes you gotta go... where everyboooooody knows your name! And they'r alwaaaaaays glad you came..." Kitty says, quickly transitioning into song before she's gotten very far into it.

"Missed a fun campout over in the woods by the Lake last night. Well by fun I mean... someone went in the frigid water. And someone else set a big branch on fire and thankfully didn't burn down the forest. But I had a s'more so I considered it a successful night at least."

Kitty pulls out some pumpkins and ghosts and spiders that are made of plastic and light up. She goes to place them where they can be plugged into outlets near the tennis court or other places. "So what else is up with you? Anyone special in your life?"

Carol Danvers has posed:
"You are far too young to know that show," Carol chides Kitty with a grin, "Sad to hear I missed it. I'd promise to come by next time but ... who knows, right?"

The question from Kitty gets a furrowing of her brows and a slightly acerbic laugh: "I don't have time for that kind of thing. Unless you're talking about my cat."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde laughs. "Hey, who do you think maintains the server with all the movies and tv shows and music on it?" she asks. "I've seen a lot of that stuff." Kitty plugs in a few of the lighted decorations. Then pulls out her phone and taps away on it. "And... there, now those power outlets are set on timers to only go on at night," she says, putting her phone back away.

She goes back over to see what's left to put out. "Oh come on Carol. Life's to short to spend it alone. Need to make some time," she says. "You should get the sexiest costume you can and go for out Halloween. I'm working on mine... a mummy with very carefully placed wrappings," she says with a grin. She's not the 14 year old that Carol first met! Think I'm going out with a couple of friends. Which is funny as both of them I was kind of attracted to but nothing ever happened. ANd then they got together."

Carol Danvers has posed:
Carol can't help but smile, but she shakes her head all the same.

"Maybe. Maybe. No promises."

She takes a step back to look up at the decorations, admiring them in silence for a moment before she turns her head back to Kitty.

"You know, I have my old costume. That's still an option."
