Cast of Characters: Remy LeBeau, Rogue, Iara Dos Santos

Remy LeBeau has posed:
Ever since the news broke about his involvement in the Morlock Massacre, Remy has made himself scarce. He didn't come to Thanksgiving dinner; and instead he's now locked himself in his room. It's no mystery he's there - the television can be heard blaring an old episode of Star Trek inside - and Jeepers occasionally trots by the door to sniff and scratch at it before loping off, forlorn.

Inside the room, Remy stares at a copy of the newspaper in question. His glasses are discarded and he stares with red-black eyes, his brow furrowed and one hand over his mouth. A moment later he turns to the open laptop beside him on the bed, flicking through a listening of last minute red-eye flights to all manner of places. Madripoor. Siancong. Even Genosha.

"Merde ... "

Rogue has posed:
After the Thanksgiving dinners were dished out, Rogue is coming up the stairs with a tray loaded up for Remy. She knew he was in a rough place after the news thing the other night... she'd heard about it, and was not really sure what to make of it.

Dressed in a red shirt, with red gloves going up to her elbows, the shirt sleeves ending just past her shoulders, a black little scarf around her neck, and some dark blue jeans, and black boots, the Belle approaches the door and knocks on it with the tip of her heeled black boot.

"Remy. Food time." She announces through the door, leaning over to listen against it. "Ya better not be watchin' porn, cause I'm comin' in." She says then.

Iara Dos Santos has posed:
Iara took the time to change into her X-Men Trainee uniform, the classic yellow and black unstable molecule nearly skintight outfit, storming up the stairs shortly after Rogue put her head against the door and announces she's coming in. "Nuh uh" Iara calls out, "He ain't gettin' a last meal, outta my way, I'm gonna eat his face!"

Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy quickly closes the laptop, hiding the different flights he's been looking at. He hisses through his teeth, grinding the heel of his palm into his eyes and turning to face the door as Rogue opens it. Even if he had locked it, she has the key. Not that she needs keys, Mighty Woman that she is.

"Cher, I don't wanna eat ... " he says with a sigh, shaking his head, " ... this news is bad - "

But before he can finish his sentence, Iara is barging into the room looking for blood. Remy is on his feet immediately, crouched atop the bed. A deck of cards tucked into the back of his pants is suddenly in hand, and one card is clasped between his fingers with the thumb angled just right for a throw.

"Hey, hey, hey ... I t'ink you oughta hear me out for you eat me, mon amis! Dis story don't tell the whole truth."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is just stepping in to the room when Iara barges in past her, brushing against her gloved right arm. Remy's reaction has her doing a double take between the two of them, and the Belle narrows her eyes. "Iara." She says. "Chill out!" She states, before setting the tray of food down on the table just inside the room.

"Remy's not the only one around here with skeletons in his closet, okay?" She asks, or tells. "Lotsa people here have things in their past that they're not proud of. The point'a this place is t'have a safe spot t'get beyond that stuff, t'get better. Not... fight about it with each other."

Does Rogue know the full details? No. But she's put four years of her life in to believe Remy wasn't a bad guy, and the telepaths here have mostly... played along with that idea too.

Iara Dos Santos has posed:
Iara hasn't spent four years of her life with Remy. She hasn't even been a mutant for a full year, but she's already faced - and killed - a lot of those that would try to wipe out the mutant race. So when she finds out about this, she's out for blood.

The Shark-Girl's muscular, cinderblock-breaking body keeps walking with driven, heavy steps towards the cajun, even when Rogue keeps talking, seemingly ignoring her as those man-eating jaws approach Gambit, seemingly unafraid of that deck of cards... only for her to stop when Rogue finishes talking, finally turning back at her as she practically spits her words at the southern belle, shouting "And what was the underground, Rogue!? So he gets to just commit genocide and walk in here like it's nothing, against our fellow mutants!? What if they had found me instead of the X-Men, what if I found myself there instead of here, huh!? I could've been one of those bodies, Rogue. Only reason I haven't popped his head in my jaws like a grape already is because I know you can stop me."

Iara walks towards Rogue now, furious, looking her in the eyes with her own black, glossy ones. "You're giving him ample time to ready his defense too, so if you wanna take him in peacefully, you'd better do it fast before I really fuckin' lose it..."

Remy LeBeau has posed:
"I didn't commit anyt'in'!" Remy shouts, uncharacteristic for the smooth-talking Cajun, "Dey pulled dat information outta me. When I found out what dey wanted to do, it was too late to stop it ... "

His knuckles are white where he holds the card, but he still doesn't charge it. There's no violet energy charging through it. He may be preparing defenses, but they're not readily obvious.

"I've never been a good guy. I never claimed to be a hero like all you 'round here wanna be. An' I am a killer, but I never killed someone who di'n't have it comin'."

His eyes lock on the Shark-Girl, flitting occasionally to Rogue.

"You're a smart gal, cher."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is ready to stop Iara too, should she make a lunge at the Cajun on his perch. But she doesn't, yet. She watches her spin around to target her now instead, but the Belle doesn't budge an inch on the ground where she stands within the room. She does glare at Iara with her green eyes open wide now, then she raises her left hand up to motion at Remy after he speaks those words.

"Were you there?" She asks Iara next. "Do you know what happened in this thing?" She asks also. Her head starts to shake then.

"Look at yourself, Iara. You're playin' right in to the hands'a whomever released that information. You're doin' exactly what they want you too." She drops both of her hands to her hips then, her elbows out on either sides.

"You're bein' a puppet for some shadowy assholes that got a grudge against Remy, and like he said... he didn't do anything of the sort related t'killin' people. There's nuance t'shit like this, and it takes powerful people t'suss out the truths. Powerful people like Jean an' the Professah..."

She sighs sharply then and folds her arms over her stomach. "You wanna find out what actually happened that night, and then maybe go hurt the people who actually deserve it? Or you just wanna go around chompin' down anyone you THINK is guilty, cause I'll tell ya what, that ain't gonna please the Headmistress, nor the Professah. Not one damn bit."

Iara Dos Santos has posed:
Iara's face can be hard to read sometimes. Sharks look pretty vacant and emotionless in most instances, but that subtle way her jaw untenses and those black eyes widen a little... she knows she fucked up. She hesitates a moment, and shudders before she suddenly grits her teeth and shakes her head, saying "You're right." quietly. "I... I need a moment..." she says as she walks past Rogue out the door, shutting her eyes and shaking her head, stepping into the hall to collect herself and mutter something in portugese under her breath, chewing herself out from the sound of it...

Remy LeBeau has posed:
"I don't blame her bein' mad," Remy tells Rogue with a sigh, dropping the card and running his hand through his auburn hair, "It doesn't look good. I'm still waitin' for Jean or de Professor to call me in and want to read my mind or somet'in'. I don't want dat, cher. I t'ink it's bad enough if people t'ink I'm even capable of dat."

He lets out another lengthy sigh, stepping down from the bed and scratching the back of his head.

"Lemme talk to her, okay?" he says, nodding his head towards the door Iara just passed through, "Go enjoy de rest a dinner, hein?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just watches Iara make for the exit, before she sees her disappear out in to the hallway. She then looks back to Remy as he steps down off the bed and she eyes him sharply. Her head tilts to the side ver so slightly with her white bangs framing her face, the dark brown locks tied up in a bun on the back of her head.

"Mad?" Rogue asks. "Fine. I don't care if she's mad. Murderous, though?" She asks further, now shaking her head slowly from right to left. "I'm not gonna allow that..." She trails off then and glances at the tray she brought up before she looks back to Remy. She shakes her head side to side then. "Guess you're gonna run again then, if you don't want their help t'figure this all out."

She slowly nods her head as she starts to turn around, now headed out of the room herself. "Well, good t'see things are normal around here after all." She adds on her way out, stepping out of the room and brushing past the Sharkgirl in the hallway.

Iara Dos Santos has posed:
Iara looks at Rogue as she steps out, and then back into the room, shaking her head as she says "No, Rogue, you're right, I just... Damn it. I'm used to... to being pointed at a target and unleashed and I haven't had to really... think about things myself here. Everything's been black and white. Sentinels, Hydra, monsters, those cyber-ninjas I fought with Warren, it's been us vs them, and I just... I was way too fast to call Remy a 'them.'"

Shark-Girl pops her head back inside, saying "Seriously, Professor X and Jean can help, or if not them then Tabitha, Tabitha's a psychic type too now, you know... But just... Don't take me for the whole group here, I guess, I'm just an idiot newbie still... and I know it's probably too soon but just... I am sorry, I really am."

Remy LeBeau has posed:
"I'm gonna do what I have to do, cher," Remy tells Rogue, with more than a bit of sadness in his voice, "Like I always done."

To Iara he shakes his head and offers a weak smile.

"'ey, don't worry 'bout it. I had people t'ink worse of me with less reason."
