Cast of Characters: Sam Wilson, Cindy Moon, Daniel Hastings

Sam Wilson has posed:
Witin the hangars of Archie Goodwin airport, there's a clambor. "Hurry up, this machine was supposed to be ready by now!" Penguin is complaining as he looks at the disfigured young man that's working on it. "Don't forget who brought you into the fold and made you a member of the flock..." he warns him, before the roly-poly criminal is wandering over to the microphone an the the three women that are standing by. "When I make the announcement, you know that the Batbrats are probably going to show up. Make sure you take them down."

One of the women glances over at the hunchbacked inventor. "What do you want us to do with Harry, boss?" she asks.

"What you do with any bird unfit for flight. Cull him." he offers with a sneer as he glances over and Harold, oblivious to what the plans are for him, gives a thumbs up and powers up the machine as Penguin slips on the control rig.

Two of the women open the doors to the hangar and roll out the machine and Penguin, and the rounton villain concentrates as the machine comes to life.

From around Gotham, birds of every shape and size take heed, answer the call. Pigeons, skylarks, seagulls, hawks, it doesn't matter, they all take flight, heading for the airport.

"It's working!" Penguin croons. "We're gonna shut down the skies, and Gotham will have to pay us /billions/ just to fly anything in! Awkwkwkwkwkwkwk!" he chitters cheerfully.

"I did good, boss?" Harold asks.

"You did great, my boy. Now go with Lark, and she'll reward you."

The flocking birds has drawn the attention of one hero, so far. Out on a test flight with his wings, Falcon has to arch over to avoid a bird strike with a flock of ducks. "What the.." he mutters, and as he sends in a report to SHIELD to see if he can find out what's happening.

Cindy Moon has posed:
The strange thing about the Silk Sense compared to the Spider-Sense, is that it's got a much wider range, and it's sensitive to things that may not be an immediate apparent danger. This usually leads Silk to many awkward situations, this time around, it actually got her somewhere before anything actually happened. She swung her way to Archie Goodwin airport, in Gotham City of all places, but seeing as she got there early...well, nothing. "Erm...hello?" She says mostly to herself as she walks around between the hangars, with the villains being hidden in one of them, she can't quite see them yet. "Anybody here...?" She asks, having expected a full fledged crime scene...instead...she gets...

Birds? It's no crime, but it sure is weirds how all birds seem to fly into the area all of a sudden.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Metropolis. It's just over the other side of the bay. It also happens to be where Daniel has been working with Agents to establish a number of listening posts. But that's classified. What isn't is the fact that every bird in the area suddenly takes flight and starts heading out over the water.. heading towards.. hmm. He squints into the distance ahead of the trail of birds and sees.. an airport. With a whole flock of flock of flock of seagulls. "Bloody hell." He shakes his head to refocus his attention to where he's at, "Gents, I'm going to check out something over at Archie Field. Not sure why but the whole avian world is deciding to roost over there. I'll.. be right back." He steps sideways.

And reappears on the tarmac, turning about to get a look around. In the interest of prudence, Daniel focuses his attention on.. nothing.. and the world begins to shimmer a bit as light distorts around him. "I have no desire to be shat upon today." He mutters to himself as he catches sight of Falcon overhead. Oh good. He has backup already. Lifting his wrist, he keys coms, "Journey to Falcon. I'm on scene. What's happening up there?"

Sam Wilson has posed:
"Ever seen 'The Birds'?" Sam asks Daniel as he wings over and tries to get higher into the sky to get a better view of things. "Someone down there has some kind of thing they're controlling the birds with, it looks like." So technical, Sam. Very smart.

Penguin, however, has noticed Sam and squawks angrilly. "This is a no fly zone unless I say so!" he yells out and he concentrates - the machine reacts, and suddenly, dozens of very angry birds are swarming at Sam, trying to peck and dig their claws into him.

Outside of the hangar, a door opens near Cindy. "Come on, this way, we have a present for you..." Lark leads Harold out, the assassin reaching to get a pistol from behind her - the plan being clear that she plans to shoot the poor guy.

With the shimmering and arrival of Daniel, it's noticed by the two other women, one of which is grabbing for a machine gun. "We have interopers!" "Take him out!" the other girl calls out as she moves back to protect Penguin!

Cindy Moon has posed:
Initial instinct is to try and help Falcon, but it's soon superseded by strange person appears out of nowhere, before the eventual winner turns out to be saving a guy's life. "Oh no you don't," Silk calls out as she starts running towards Lark, thwipping her with webs so instead of drawing her pistol, she'll wind up with her arm stuck to her back. "If you tell me what the heck is going on, I promise not to knock you out."

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"Interlopers? I haven't heard anyone use that word since I last read a Penny Dreadful." Daniel has to look about. /Someone/ around here has a moustache and they're twirling it. The grabbing of the machine gun gets his attention though and he reaches out with a hand. An empty hand. But then something bizarre happens. A ripple in space shoots out from his palm with a haze of blue light forming about it as the Doppler effect is distorted. That same ripple in space moves almost faster than the eye can follow much like a laser or energy weapon. That same distortion strikes the woman who just took the machine gun in hand and sends her flying some thirty feet down the tarmack with the gun landing a dozen feet further along. "You, sir, are not Charlemagne." His attention tracks to Penguin. "Send the birds away and you might get leniency in your sentencing."

Sam Wilson has posed:
Lark grits her teeth as she suddenly finds herself thwipped. "I thought Spider-man was a guy." she quips, before she's launching herself at Cindy, a pair of sharp kicks and a one armed swing at Cindy, attempting to strike her - it's clear that this woman isn't just a pretty face in a bunny version of the Penguin's black tie. Instead, she's a well trained assassin that is on the attack!

Jay manages to get a burst off before the spatial wave hits her and she hits the ground hard, tumbling end over end as the machine gun is knocked away. Howeer, with Daniel focused on Penguin, Raven comes in from the side and attempts to slam into him to take him down and keep him from being able to summon up another wave.

Up above, Falcon is attempted to make his way through the birds without taking out his machine pistols. He doesn't want to hurt the avians, they don't know what they're doing. "We need to take out that machine, Journey, send a wave at it!"

Sam's planning to strafe the machine on his next pass hopefully.

Cindy Moon has posed:
"How would you know, you ever met Spider-Man?" Silk plays on the joke, though her charge towards Lark changes when she still comes at her with that set of kicks. Silk proves every bit as agile and flexible, as she responds by evading rather than blocking, from leaping to the side, to nearly flattening against the ground, before launching a low kick at Lark's ankle to try and take her down. "You took Martial Arts? I took Martial Arts, you're supposed to say hajime, first!"

Daniel Hastings has posed:
When you don't know what your foe is capable of, a frontal assault is always unwise. You see when Jay fired her machine gun just prior to being blasted off of her feet, Raven was charging him. The shimmering about his body was brought about because light was being bent to flash in directions Daniel was trying to keep safe.. only that's hard to do with a half dozen people nearby. So just as Raven ducked her shoulder.. she took a bullet in the calf and another in the thigh. He was trying to keep the rounds low to bounce off of the concrete and lose momentum. She hit the ground hard a few feet short of him with the SHIELD agent frowning. "I'll call you an amublance." He's been shot before. It's not fun. But then he was distracted by Falcon and he looked around.

"Which machine?!" The Englishman yelled.. but then.. well.. there was that box Penguin was standing near so he squared his feet and lifted both palms, "I do recommend you clear off, mate. This is going to get messy." Space in front of him began to fold..to shake.. really the only way to tell anything strange was happening is because neon lights broadcasting from Tokyo were flashing ads on the concrete and strobelike effects were bending like a rainbow.. without the pot of gold. Then Journey released the compression wave towards the machine. He'd not done one that large in a while and hoped.. well.. space would get over it. Would matter?

Sam Wilson has posed:
As Lark and Silk fight, it's clear that the advantage is Cindy's reflexes. Lark was coming in for a swing at Cindy's jar when the spider powered girl gets low and takes her ankle out. Landing hard on the ground, she has the breath knocked out of her, and it will probably give Cindy enough time to take down Lark. The man that she had with her is cowering, hiding from Cindy.

Raven cries out as she's hit by the rounds from Jay, and she's down for the count. When Daniel focuses on Penguine he gives a 'WARK' of panic, stripping off the headgear as he grabs his umbrella and fires at Daniel from it just as Daniel releases the wave towards the machine.

Sam was sweeping in on a pass at the same time, and it all happens at once. The machine is hit and pierced, electricity arcing from it, and the wave redirects, slamming into Sam. The Falcon is engulfed in electricity from the machine and he screams out in pain as his body stiffens, and the high-flying Avenger slams into the ground, tumbling into the grass and going very still.

By this time, the Gotham police, alerted to the situation are approaching -- but in someone's favor, so is a black Quinjet from SHIELD, deployed from the Triskelion.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"Falcon!" Journey naturally cries out when his fellow Agent gets blasted by the collateral detonation. These things happen when you shoot unknown technology with forces beyond the comprehension of most men to include Journey himself. Space again protests at being abused but Journey doesn't care and reappears at Falcon's side. "Hang on, mate, the cavalry just arrived. They'll get you to a medic right quick. The machine's down." He's had plenty of emergency medicine courses throughout his training so he at least knows to stabilize Falcon's neck and back after that kind of a fall. Waiting for the quinjet to land, he waves agents his way, "Bring a trolley, stat!"

Sam Wilson has posed:
With Sam down, Daniel may notice something strange that happens. The birds that were swarming and flocking, land. They all stay near Sam, watching the SHIELD agents as they approach with the stretcher to help him onto it. Sam is clearly out cold, yet the birds watch, observing the humans around the winged humanoid.

When Lark is dropped off, webbed and trussed up, there's a man with her, and instructions that he needs protection from the Penguin.

Speaking of the Penguin, it seems he has abandoned the three henchwomen and is nowhere to be found in the chaos of the moment. Raven, who is wounded, is loaded into an ambulance, while Jay and Lark are taken into custody.
