Date of Scene: 03 January 2023
Location: Joe's Restaurant and Cafe
Synopsis: Balder is exploring Happy Harbor and finds Morrigan having a late lunch. He joins her and they talk more about Godly duties and things to do.
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Balder

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Joe's is open 24/7. Which helps when one has been in their office since early in the morning and had forgotten to eat until late in the afternoon. Morrigan's a regular given the town in where she currently lives and works. Her blindness keeps her confined to a lot of places, but that is a self imposed sort of punishment for the moment. Eventually something will happen and she'll need her sight.

But not today!

She's just made her way to her favorite booth that is toward the back and by windows. She can't see, but it still gives her some comfort. She's dressed in a black blouse, dark purple slacks and sensible heels. She settles her phone and bag into the seat next to her and waits to hear the familiar sound of the waitresses footsteps approach.

Balder has posed:
Food! Midgard had a plethora of different cuisines to dine on - that much, Balder recalled. Even an Asgardian needs his food! Having trod a fair way on foot, he found himself outside of Joe's, inhaling the aroma of the diner's fare. A slight nod to no one in particular, and the man makes his way into the establishment.

The figure of Morrigan is not hard to spot, especially for the more perceptive folks. And look, she's getting service! Balder makes his way over there, full of confidence. "Doctor Morrigan." He offers, greeting the seated woman. "Is there room at your table for another?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Balder arrives about the same time the waitress does and she was just finishing with taking Morrigan's drink order. There is a blink at the man approaching the table, "Umm. Doctor." she looks to Morrigan. The redhead chuckles, "Your highness, please have a seat. I wasn't expecting anyone else." she motions to the table. "I'll pay for his." she tells the waitress.

The girl nods and then looks to Balder, "What can I get you to drink?" she asks. She also goes over the specials. Which is typical diner fare. Lot's of starchy things and gravy. Which honestly is delicious!

Balder has posed:
"Coffee, please." Balder orders, giving a charming smile to the waitress. Then he eases into the seat, which groans with protest. Asgardians are dense, yo! Once settled, he nods to Morrigan. "My fortune is good in finding you, Doctor. I can repay you, though my currency likely is not easily exchanged in an eatery on Midgard." A chuckle.

He listens to the options, brow furrowed as he takes in the specials. "When she is ready to order, I shall be as well." He nods to his tablemate. "It is proper for ladies to be served first."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's eyes don't focus given things, but she tries to keep her face turned towards where she hears the voices. "I apologize if I am lousy company." she tells him before hand. Then there is a chuckle, "Can't really let you go hungry and I rarely get to eat with another. So you don't need to repay me." she tells him. She orders a steak, mashed potatoes and a salad. Because something has to be healthy, right?

The waitress is watching them and there is a look to Balder after Morrigan orders, "That's very nice of you." she tells him. She then seems ready to take down what he wants.

Balder has posed:
His voice is clear, easy enough to tell where he's seated - his voice rarely drops to anything resembling a whisper at present. "I have every doubt that you are lousy company, Doctor. And it is not a matter of need on your end, but honor on mine." Balder assures. The table is checked, before he rests his elbows on it.

"I will have one of the steaks. One of the loafs of meat. Potatoes and bread." He decides, before his hand reaches to his belt pouch and fishes out a few coins for Morrigan. They are gold coins, handed over to the blind woman. "Please." He adds, for both Morrigan and the waitress.

"How has your New Year been, Doctor?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan smiles a touch, "I'm sure we'll see if I'm good company or not." she chuckles to that. She doesn't argue with the Asgardian though. Not wanting to get into that sort of match. She doesn't feel the table fall to the ground so she guesses it'll hold his weight on it.

Morrigan can feel the eyes go to her when he orders a loaf of meat, "He means meat loaf, yes." she tells her. She then gives a smile and the waitress takes the order and hurries off to get drinks and things.

The coins that she hears are given a bit of a touch, "Can I add them to my collection of currency from different places?" she asks him. "The new year is...like most New Years. Rather quiet. School starts up again tomorrow and we'll be trying to make sure everyone is ready for graduation and things. I don't have anything going on personally." she admits.

"What about you? How are things besides...family stuff?" she asks him.

Balder has posed:
"Indeed." He's an agreeable sort, generally! A nod and mental note as she corrects his order. "Thank you." Balder certainly does not take offense to it - he's quite aware he's not familiar with all the customs and terms in Midgard. He didn't normally spend as much time on Midgard as his brother.

"They are yours, freely given." He mentions, regarding the coins. There's a smile at her description of the New Year. "Was it not night of revelry? Feasting, dancing and celebration?" He wonders, leaning back just a scootch in the booth. "My new year allowed me to come here. My tasks completed, it freed my time to come investigate Midgard and the family... occurance."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan does notice how agreeable he is. Not that it's a bad thing! "I hope you didn't mind that." she tells him on the correction. "Some kids don't understand that some of us aren't from this realm." she muses. "Or they are starting to get the hang of it given the high school is filled with people from all different walks of life and species." she admits.

The woman gives a smile to him, "Thank you. These are worth far more than the food that I just bought, but you'll have to pick up some sort of american currency or a credit card so you can cover expenses." she explains. She shakes her head, "Not really anyone to spend the time with and being blind is a bit of a downer for others." she admits to that. "We listened to the countdown and then went to bed." she muses to that.

"What else on Midgard are you investigating?" she asks him curiously. Then the waitress returns with their drinks, "Food should be up shortly." she tells them.

Balder has posed:
Balder gives a charming smile, sighted partner or not. "Aye. I am certain I blend in." He chuckles, a happy sound. "I know my brother's return to Midgard caused a stir, some time ago." The man grins, comfortable in the seat thus far. He doesn't want to shift about too much, lest the poor booth give way.

He waves off the concern over the gold. "If I am to be here longer, I agree. I will look into such things - perhaps those of the Avengers will be able to assist." As she mentions her blindness again, he cants his head. "It is not a bad thing. It is a state of being, blindness. If you dwell on it, it will bring you down. I suspect you will do far better to rise above it, aye?" He offers. "Or you can correct it. You have choices, difficult ones - but you are not mired in the dark."

A look around. "I wish to see more of it, to understand why my brother cherishes it so. Perhaps it is not an investigation, more so a vacation?" A nod to the waitress. "Thank you." Looking back to Morrigan. "Do you have places you visit to investigate?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's smile doesn't wane really as she talks to him, "I'm sure you do. Big Asgardian men. Totally blend in." she chuckles at that. "It's not a bad thing." she adds to that. "And yes, Thor has caused quite a stir on Earth. So has Loki, though I've not seen him in a long time." she states to that. She really wasn't sure where they went either.

She gives a nod to him, "I didn't mean to sound like I was mothering." she tells him. "Just want to make sure you don't run into any trouble while you are here visiting." she smiles to that. When he talks on the blindess there is a bit of a moment where her face goes blank, but after a few seconds she nods, "I agree with you on that, your highness." she comments. "I'll look into fixing it." she nods. "I'm very used to the dark. It's where I spent most of my life until recently." she chuckles.

"Either way...I don't want to be a wet blanket." she admits. "Apparently more than a few gods have visited and decided to stay. Maybe they like the food." she grins to that. "I'd say a vacation. Investigation when you are looking for Thor." she points out. "And I've not had a vacation in quite a while. I've wanted to go to the United Kingdom and Ireland to visit." she tells him.

Balder has posed:
Another happy laugh from Balder at her observation of the size of Asgardians. "It is odd, being on Midgard - the people here are definitely smaller. Not a bad thing, but the furnishings tend to complain at our arrival." A chuckle, then another sip from his coffee.

"I did not take it as mothering." He reassures. "I suspect most of my troubles will be easily managed - I tend to talk first, as opposed to crash through things." Not mentioning any names, of course - but Asgardians are generally action-oriented! As she makes her choice, he nods. "Then you have settled on decision. Good. I expect you will be happier and less concerned over your lack of sight and its affect on your conversation partners." He grins. "I assure you, sightless or not, you are a fine conversationalist. Nor are you wet."

"Many gods, you say? Perhaps I shall look them up?" He decides, rubbing at his chin. "Ireland, United Kingdom. I am vaguely familiar with those lands. I havce not been in some time."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a smile, "Yeah, most of us down here aren't built like you guys." she admits. "That's alright though." she adds. "People just need to get reinforced furniture for whenever Asgardians might visit them." she nods sagely. "And if I ever get one visiting I'll just use magic." she chuckles as she takes a sip of her soda.

"We'll hope they are easily managed. I'm sure you can probably talk yourself out of things quite handily." she muses to that. "Yeah, I might be happier. Just...have to find someone I can get blood from." she mutters. "But yes, I worry about it. Then again...I'm guessing that it doesn't really matter given outside of the school and a few people I don't interact as much." she shrugs.

"I mean, I'm sure there are other gods here. Most not giving out their addresses." she points out. "I'd definitely declare yourself to SHIELD and maybe reach out to the Avengers though. In case you do run into any trouble. They might be able to help out." she explains.

"I want to go to Ireland. I've not been more than the time where they summoned me back...and sadly it was too hectic and I was blind." she shakes her head. "Anyways. That's enough from me." she laughs.

Then food arrives! Thank the Gods.

Balder has posed:
All the foods! Balder rubs his hands together as the plates are set out. "This looks wonderful. And the aroma, it is excellent." He looks about for the silverware, at least familiar with that aspect of dining on Midgard. "Aye, we are a sturdy folk. You've not met the Lion of Asgard, I am certain." A wry grin comes to his face at that.

"Midgard has a shield, now? How does that work?" He wonders. "I shall reach out to the Avengers, aye. They, I have heard of." A chuckle. "Do you need to take from a person?" He asks, after a moment.

"Most dieties don't tend to announce their arrival these days - the world has changed, has it not? I suspect we would be met with more than skepticism, especially by those who have done our faith wrong." He starts slicing up the steak, in preparation. "I will keep my eye out, however. It is a matter of minding one's manners, with others about. Even without - a good start is always made better with manners."

As she mentions Ireland, he chuckles. "Then go. Do you have something binding you here? Time is yours to spend."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The waitress is staring at Balder. She really can't help it. But she quickly moves on after putting the last of the food down and then giving a look between Morrigan and the Asgardian. She then shuffles off to go talk to the girls behind the counter.

"SHIELD is the name of an organization that protects Earth, yes." she tells him. "Who is the Lion of Asgard? Makes me think they have fantastic hair." she grins to that. She picks up the silverware and unrolls it, placing the napkin in her lap. Just in case she misses her mouth. Oh god, now she was worried.

"I mean, you don't have to. These are just suggestions." she points out gently. "I can assure you there are people who would completely stunned to see a God of their faith running about." she muses.

"As to an earlier question, yes it has to be from a person. I tried bagged and other forms and it isn't working." she tells him in almost a whisper.

"I'd have to take vacation to go. Or go after school is done in a few months." she nods to that. "Jobs and things are something that put a wrench in things sadly." she chuckles.

Balder has posed:
If he notices any staring, he does not show it. He's used to those sorts of looks, honestly! "I see. They have a garrison name." Balder offers over, after she explains SHIELD. "Are they warriors, then?" He wonders, before taking a bite of the steak first. The napkin is left on the table, for when he's done.

"It was a good suggestion, best to make sure the authorities on Midgard are aware. I would think they would be less concerned about a visitor who announced themselves." He chuckles. "Not too many do, I imagine." A glance around. "How do I send a message to the Avengers then? Are there messengers about?"

"From a person then. Do you need to kill them in battle?" Honest question from the Bright Prince - he's only ever dealt with Draugr.

At the mention of vacation. "You have duties, that I can accept. But even the most stalwart of us need time to rest and revel. Do not forget that, Doctor Morrigan."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan eats carefully, not wanting to embarrass herself in front of the man. She listens to him as she does. "It's...more like a group, but that's alright." she tells him. "Some are warriors." she nods to him. "I'm a consultant for them." she states as she settles her fork down. "Honestly I think you'd be better off reaching out to them from the Triskelion. We could get you there. Other than that, I'm not sure how to contact them." she admits.

"Hmm. I guess I could call Sam. See if he's in town and see if he could get ahold of Captain America." she ponders. Maybe?

Then she sputters a little, "Oh god no, I don't have to kill anyone. I just need to take a few ounces or so. No one needs to die." she shakes her head at that.

She then gives a softer smile, "Aye, I know. I need to take a break eventually. I had wanted to go over Christmas break, but I was needed here and at the hospital." she tells him. "So you're the god of Peace, Light and Prophecy, yes?" she asks him. "I'm sure at some point you were also attributed to Joy and other things." she grins to that.

Balder has posed:
He's definitely listening, even as he powers through the steak. "Aye, a garrison of people bound by duty and honor." Yep. It might be a bit difficult to explain it better, but he thinks he's got it. "A consultant? How many jobs do you have, then? Is Doctor not enough?" Balder half-teases. "This Triskelion. I should go there, then?" He ponders.

She mentions a name he recognizes. "Aye! The Captain is an ally to my brother." He grins, before taking a sip of his coffee. He might need a refill, the way he's going with it.

"Good. Death should be a last resort." A chuckle as he realizes who he is speaking to. "Aside from your duties, of course." A nod to the woman, whether she can see him or not.

Once she conceeds she needs a break, he lets the subject drop - for now. "Aye, I am. And joy, at some times in history. All things meant to bring hope to mankind." A wry grin. "Though, some prophecies are not so comforting."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"That would be right then, yes." Morrigan chuckles to that. "Well, my attachment to SHIELD is due to the school and being the one they picked to head it. If I didn't work for them in that regard then I doubt that I would be able to outside of that." she admits. "I still am a Doctor and I work there when they need my expertise." she tells him. "I don't mind the work. It keeps me from moping." she chuckles to that.

"Yes, Captain Rogers seems to know everyone. I'll reach out to him and let him know that there is another Odinson on Earth and then can point you that way after that." she nods. The waitress returns to get him a refill and slips a small folded piece of paper to him as well (it's her number). She already knows Mo's not able to see.

"Death is generally a last resort. I don't enjoy killing, but I've had to do it before." she frowns. "And yeah, we seem to be opposites in the god duties department." she chuckles. Then she gives a bit of a look to him, "Yeah, but we'll keep you safe while you're on Midgard, your Highness." she tells him. "You can call me Morrigan by the way. Or Mo." she offers.
