Kora Johnson has posed:
No, not IN Josie's Bar. That's no way to celebrate the New Year. On TOP of Josie's Bar, with the drinks steadily coming up the roof top access stairs. That's more like it. It's far less of a dive on top. Roof Top parties are a tradition in New York and unfortunately that means all the good spots are taken. Hell's Kitchen locals know they're always welcome on this roof top though.

Not that Kora is a local, but Daisy and Matt are. Kora has joined the 21st century of fashion with jeans, t-shirt, and a leather jacket. She's pretty sure this was a fashion back in the 80s too but she's not going to harp on about it.

The general throng of locals is one of a mixture levity and people who are putting in the effort to stay up late enough to kiss a loved one and watch some fireworks. Kora is just glad to be out of Delaware. And being out with her sister means she doesn't have to worry that things might go wrong. Besides, this is the city her sister made sing - she's famous here.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Rooftop celebration of the New Year is as traditional as it gets for Hell's Kitchen, but Daisy wants just that for this year considering how much of a mess it had been so far. Though there -had- been good things, one of those that she had invited to come do New Year with them. Kora!

It would be a good chance for her and Matt to meet up too.

"So, first time having a New Year celebration in New York?" she asks of her sister, rubbing her hands and blowing on them. "It's a little better when it's warmer but ...! Once the dancing starts the cold won't even be felt." she assures Kora.

"Now we only have to wait for...." She looks around the rooftop to try and spot Matt.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
It isn't Matt's fault that he's late, at least from his point of view. The improbable series of events starting with a chop shop of the Russian mob, continuing through a lost child and dog, an escaped ill-tempered orangutan from the zoo on a rampage through a Hobby Lobby, and a Japanese tour group who badly wanted pictures with an American hero and were surprisingly fast on their feet to have caught him, were the kind of things that could happen to any vigilante. Right?

Frank probably doesn't have these issues.

Matt eventually arrives at the top of the stairs and steps out onto the rooftop. He's wearing a heavy black sweater with grey and white designs on it, and dark slacks. He taps his way with his cane though the roof is crowded enough he ends up using his hand as much as the cane to navigate through the lobby.

Daisy's voice is easy enough to pick out. Matt meanders in that general direction, where she'll be able to see him and call out to him to bring him the rest of the way over like one might expect of a blind man.

Kora Johnson has posed:
Kora snugs her sister to her side, "Just stick with me and you won't get cold." She chuckles and shrugs, "Actually. First time in New York ever. Dad was going to bring me here one day but.. well, we never got around to it." She's bottled up sunshine after all, she always runs a little hotter than most.

"But I see the booze.." she snap points to a table with a keg and red plastic cups. She leaves her sister and beelines for the alcohol, missing the initial arrival of Matt.

When she comes back, there he is joining Daisy amidst the crowd. Cute hair, nice jawline. She sees it. She lifts up her red cup and takes a sip of the beer. It's not bad. "You must be Matt," she says and offers her hand. She has been told almost nothing about the guy Daisy lives with. But she picks up pretty quickly he's probably blind, so she puts her hand to his. "I'm Kora."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You will love it then! I will bring you to visit everything ..., but first New Year. Next, the Royal Dragon." Because there is no going to Hell's Kitchen without a visit to one of their most famous restaurants!

Daisy lets Kora go with a, "Bring one for me too!"

And then she spots Matt. "Over here!" she shouts, playing the part. Then meandering along to get to him. "There you are.." a grin, arms going around his neck for a gentle kiss to lips. It's followed by a whisper. "I hope you didn't run into the punisher again..." she -had- warned him about going out as the Daredevil.

Kora finally comes back and she smiles. "Hey, this is Kora. And this is Matt. Consider yourselves introduced and all that."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
As Daisy comes to get him and gives him the hug, Matt folds up the cane that paired with the dark glasses are indeed a pretty clear sign of blindness. He hugs Daisy back and gives her a quick kiss back. "No bullet wounds," he whispers into her ear. All while hoping her hug doesn't impinge on the bruise that's forming on his back from a tire iron at the Russian chop shop.

He lets Daisy lead him over to the seats they've staked out. "Hello Kora," Matt says, putting his hand out and letting Kora connect them for a firm shake. "As someone who grew up with Daisy at the orphanage, I really can't emphasis how wonderful it is getting to meet someone from her family," he says in his clipped, deep voice while giving her a very genuine smile. "I can only hope this is the start of a great year to come for all of us."

Kora Johnson has posed:
"I guess it can't get much worse than the last," Kora says and hands over the drink she got for Daisy. "Wait, you haven't introduced him to mom yet?" She stares at Daisy for a while. That's a wild idea. Mom likes to be in the loop with -everything-.

She glances out over the street below. People wandering about down there in various states of cold and hurry. "The Royal Dragon. Sounds good," she says doubting that it'll actually be good. American's trying to do Chinese food.. that must be a disaster.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"No no. Matt has met Jia." Daisy assures her sister, "Don't worry, we have her .., blessing and all that." she can't help but roll her eyes at that. Yes, she knows how Jia likes being on top of EVERYTHING. Even her love life.

"Oh, it will be. Even through your doubting ways.." Yep, Daisy also can tell when Kora is being dismissive! Look at that, sisters learning about one another.

"We already started drinking, so you will have to catch up." She then tells Matt before a drink from her cup is done. Half-way through in one go! She is a bottomless pit.

"Not sure if I had told you but Matt works here in Hell's Kitchen as a lawyer. And he just loooves lawyer jokes."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt smiles to Kora, nodding at Daisy's confirmation that he's met her mother. "I meant meeting any family member is a blessing. Back then it was a dream for many of the kids, but one that they never really expected would come true," Matt explains with another nod of his head.

"Alright, I'll do my best," he says of catching up. Assuming there is already a glass for him he picks it up and takes a sip. "Oh yes. My partner Foggy and I are thinking about putting together a prize for those who come up with ones we haven't heard before," he teases. Resting a hand on Daisy's shoulder, Matt leans towards Kora to stage whisper with a grin, "Little chance that Daisy could win it."

He takes another sip of his drink while giving Daisy's shoulder a little squeeze. "We just have a small practice. A lot of housing disputes, recovering unpaid wages, immigration cases. Trying to lift the neighborhood the best we can," he explains. "So Daisy indicated you are new to town?" Matt says as an understatement. "Are you settling in ok?"

Kora Johnson has posed:
Kora smirks a touch at Daisy, "Yeah yeah we'll see..." She grew up eating authentic Chinese food after all. Daisy's basically an American. Hot dogs and baseball caps. Endless reruns of Seinfeld. Jia no doubt wouldn't approve.

But then it dawns on her what Matt was getting at. Orphans. Yeah, Daisy was an Orphan. She looks over to her sister and wraps an arm about her, giving her a tight hug.

"Ah. I.. yeah. That must have been really tough. It hadn't occurred to me that this is a bit of an orphan fantasy come to life." She twists her lips and then takes another sip of the beer.

She smiles at the small conspiracy Matt shares with her. "Wait. None of that was a lawyer joke. I mentally prepared myself not to laugh..." She shrugs her shoulders non-chalante. "I'm new to America 'for sure'," she says throwing in some local lingo. Though it is more Californian than New York.

"I don't know if I'm ... settling in. There's this one person, uh, Jane, who seems to think I'm part monk because I grew up in a small Nepalese village high in the mountains. She keeps giving me excellent tea's and videos on physics. I think she might be a little obsessed with physics."

"I guess I feel a little listless. I've never really felt like I've fit in anywhere, even where I grew up isn't really home any more. I'm trying to find myself. Figure out what my next steps are going to be."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"It is." Daisy says about it being an orphan fantasy, her own arm going around Kora and she squeezing the other woman, "And loving every second of it..." she resting her head on Kora's shoulder a bit before releasing her so she can finish her drink properly. Matt gets a look though, but it's the 'hmph' that is really telling. She knows her lawyer jokes!

"Objection, your honor." She murmurs about her chances of winning the competition. She's great at lawyer jokes! Right after her blind jokes ....

"Jane loves physics, that's true." Then a look to Matt, "She's talking about Jane Foster. We had dinner together with her a while back."

"She's wrong about you being a monk though, you don't have the disposition for that." Woah, what does Daisy mean with that?! "Hot temper." she nudging Kora with an elbow.

"It's hard to know where to fit when we can do the things we do." Then she leaning against Matt, "I have found my place though, you will find yours."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The two sisters bonding brings a smile to Matt's face, even if one might expect he's picking up on it from their voices mostly.

Matt takes a drink from his beer mug, wiping the bit of foam from is lip after. "Should probably warn you about the Chinese food here rather than let you be surprised. I learned this the hard way in college with a friend who was from China. Many of the dishes on our Chinese restaurants were made by Chinese immigrants who didn't have access to the ingredients they were used to. So they incorporated ingredients and spices from here and created new versions of favorite dishes, or even new dishes entirely. So you shouldn't expect it to be like home, expect something different and new," Matt says.

"Of course now it is possible to get those original ingredients, but if you want authentic Chinese instead of American Chinese food, you're best off in Chinatown. Though our favorite place here is good, it's not what you're used to," he confirms.

He gives a warm chuckle about the physics. "Well, it's the thought that counts, right? Jane's a good woman though from what I know," he agrees.

Kora Johnson has posed:
Kora gives Daisy a look as she says objection. "Yeeeah nah. I think your boyfriend has you pegged Daisy. You're not good with jokes." She can rib her sister it's not that hard. But at the accusation of having a hot temper. She shrugs a shoulder accepting that as truth. "I mean, you've met my parents," she states to Daisy.

"Hmm," she says as Matt confirms her suspicion that Daisy was leading her astray with this Royal Dragon restaurant. "Okay. I'll give it a go and not set my expectations too high."

As people start to count down toward the new year she says, "We used to do our own new years fireworks without the fireworks." Then raises an eyebrow and looks at Daisy. It's not like her sisters identity or powers are a secret.

"Hey. I'll provide the energy and you make it twinkle?," she says with a grin and when people call out Zero and start their kisses, Kora looks up in to the sky. The fireworks are mostly concealed by tall buildings, so she lifts up her hands. Her eyes begin to glow, and she blasts sunshine up in to the sky.

Not that Matt can see that - but he sure can feel the radiant energy and feel the heat. That is not ordinary light, that is something special. Something Inhuman.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"I have a dirty joke at the tip of my tongue but I won't indulge.." Daisy tells them after Kora speaks of Matt having her pegged. Look, she has had a few drinks already okay?! But then she is sighing. "Now you done it.." this to Matt, "She will be the worst kind of elitist when we go eat there. You will see." Daisy is very much an american chinese after all. She has no real connection to Nepal, or China.

Conversation continues and eventually they are close to midnight. "Time flies!" she exclaims as they are entering that last minute. Her arm has wrapped around Matt now.

"Fireworks, eh?" the countdown is nearing the end as the fireworks begin (those of her sister that is) she joins in, one arm pointing to the sky. Giving a symphony to accompany the bright lights in way of those twirly explosions that often accompany fireworks.

Though of course that the arm around Matt dampens the vibrations he might be receiving so it doesn't become too much.

"Happy New Year!" she tells them before leaning to kiss Matt.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock gives Daisy a small grin. "It's all about expectations. Go in expecting a meal like home? Disappointed. Go in expecting to try to a different cuisine and it can be appreciated for what it is," he tells her. "About time I found a use for all that stuff they teach us in law school about people," he says with a joking grin.

The countdown starts and Matt chants it with everyone else. When they hit, zero, his arms go about Daisy, lifting her so her feet dangle slightly off the ground as they share that New Year's kiss.

He does have his attention at least partially pulled by that blast of warm sunlight. Not entirely sure what form of energy it is, but the heat variations stand out to him. However, Daisy has a way of keeping his attention from going to it fully once he's comfortable it's not something that needs attention.

Finally he sets her back on her feet. "Well, that's a good start for the new year at least," he says with a grin.

Kora Johnson has posed:
The crowd is awed by the sudden brightness over Josie's bar. Staring both at Kora and up in to the sky. Especially when Daisy joins in. There's whispered murmurings about 'Quake' and 'The other one, may be related?' but they're not concerned whispers. They're excited whispers.

A man walks over with three flutes of champagne and offers them, "Compliments of the house for Quake and her compatriots." The drinks were already on the house after the cover charge to get up on the roof but hey, whose keeping count.

Kora accepts the champagne and takes a sip, her eyes still glowing as she smiles. "See, people like it," she says nudging Daisy's side and then she lifts up her hands and shoots another bolt of energy in to the sky.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt's head tilts just slightly as he listens to the conversations and comments that break out about the two women. It's generally more positive than the things he hears about the Devil of Hell's Kitchen where some people see what he does as good, but a steady stream of negative publicity has influence public perception as well.

He leaves his arm about Daisy's waist as he is given the glass of champagne. Matt and his excruciatingly discriminating sense of taste have made peace with at least one beer that Josie serves, though he's just got to power through it with the champagne that isn't exactly high-end, let alone judged by a palate like Matt's.

"Happy New Year," he repeats with a smile and a toast towards the ladies.
