Emma and Selene, Murder is for Three
Date of Scene: 22 January 2023
Location: The Dungeon - Hellfire Club
Synopsis: Selene and Emma talk over about life, immortality, power, and ennui.
Cast of Characters: Selene Gallio, Emma Frost

Selene Gallio has posed:
The Hellfire Club is packed tonight. It's loud, people are scantily dressed, there's some girls dancing in cages. The lights are low. There's that weird fog machine fog floating through the air. And in the thick of it all is Selene. It's not Rome, or even Nova Romana, but at least there is (probably) debauchery happening and she is /here for it/. The woman is standing at the bar, listening -- looking a bit bored to be honest -- as some guy chats her up telling her about his crypto holdings. Or, whatever. A Tesla maybe? She doesn't really mind. But she's dressed to kill and her eyes are scanning the floor for any potential...matches.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma hasn't dropped in in awhile to the Club. Much less the darker areas. It's the type of place where mostly there's indulgence and hedonism going on. So it behooves her sometimes to see what's up and whom are the current ones that the club has under thier thumb. It's open house, and there's ever so much to go on telepathically. Which makes for an ever so useful observation point. Emma Frost takes note of things present. Thne.. Oh, -there-

Selene Gallio has posed:
The Black Queen lets her eyes turn towards the brief flash of light near the entrance and then she spots Emma. She evaluates the woman from afar, and even though it's clear she's been noticed -- Selene is wearing....just enough to remain PG-13 and not a stich more of a bodice and boyshorts, both black above a pair of knee high leather boots -- she watches Emma openly, seeing where she goes in the club. The man babbling at her is pushed aside. She has something new to hunt.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma would turn over, "Why Selene, I didn't expect you to be in this sort of crowd. Your attire almost seems tasteful." Emma is wearing something decidedly professional. A business suit. Blouse, dress, purse slung over her shoulder. All in white, of course. But coming in dressed os professionally makes her stand out more in a place that presses the boundaries of proper behavior. And gives her a sense of control and power that otherwise indulgence might not lend itself to.
"So what's the occasion flr you being down here in this little den?"

Selene Gallio has posed:
Selene Gallio smirks just a little bit at Emma's attire. "A little over dressed, aren't you, dear?" she asks, before she shrugs slowly, "Bored. In the mood. Looking for something new and interesting, or at least...enjoying the energy of a place like this." She then turns a sly smile to Emma, "What brings you by though? Thought you didn't want to be seen around here much anymore."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would laugh, "Why, new and interesting Selene? I would think you found this sort of thing dreadfully tedious adn repetitive. But good to know." She would gesture over. "So might I get you a drink then? You might find it more engaging than this." She would go to offer a hand out over to Selene. "And merely to see whether the Club had changed in any remotely interesting way."

Selene Gallio has posed:
"There's always a diamond in the rough...and barring that there's always that cute girl in booth three who's having the night of her life. She'll be fun to think about later with my toys." Selene replies, nodding in the direction of some enthusiastic patrons, before she turns and motions for Emma to join her at the bar. "I would be surprised if you said it had, and I suspect you knew it hadn't already. So, really, what brings you by? Hear I was in town and wanted a look?" she asks, devilishly. You can almost see her horns peeking out from under her hair.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would glance at Selene, "And you're not going to take her and whomever she's with.." And drain them and leave but dust behind and ashes? Emma's always been somewhat of the blunt one. But here it's left directly unsaid. "I see if the Club's done anything useful beyond taking all these.." Raising her hand over.. "And giving them an amusing locale." And no doubt pumping them for information.
"Don't you find these game ssomewhat tediuos?"

Selene Gallio has posed:
Selene's eyes rest on the girl for a few moments, and then she decides, "She'll be back. It'll be more delicious if I do that on Halloween, don't you think?" she asks, eyes twinkling. And then she waves her hand at Emma's question, "This isn't the game I am playing. This is just a distraction to keep the local authorities from looking too closely at the other things we do, and even THAT isn't the game you and I are playing, and you know it. This is the meat market. Everyone has to go to the grocery store, you know."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod, "Oh, you've developed patience. That's a new thing. Good for you." At the 'distraction' Emma would smile over. "There we go. Nice to see that you're being traditional." At any other normal point, Emma might state 'old dog, new tricks' but instead she's being more benign. "So, might I ask you a question?"

Selene Gallio has posed:
"Two weeks, sixteen hours, five minutes, and thirty nine seconds." Selene replies in a flat tone, "Or, are you not going to ask when I last dined out? Is this going to be a personal question? Something I might need to drag you into a booth to hear? Or is this another one of your skating around the edge of the big secret world that's going on here things that you enjoy so much?"

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shrug,"Oh, merely this sort of thing. Why keep at it?" The tone is 'doesn't it bore you'? "You seem in a state of ritual." Casually crossing her hands over. "It must be eternally tedious and repetitive."

Selene Gallio has posed:
"There is some novelty in this particular iteration of debauchery, when done correctly. Before if you wanted to really betray someone, someone who didn't have the expectation that something terrible was going to happen to them at any given moment...you had to do it to someone important. Now, you can do it to the girl in booth three, who's biggest problem is where she left her underwear last night. That is fun. The energy and emotion of it is enjoyable. Mutants...are a tasty snack when you can catch them." Selene says with a bit of a predatory grin in the direction of Emma. "But, the actual mechanics? Yes those are a bit well worn now. But, this is just a stepping stone to the next thing, and the next thing, and the next thing. I fully intend to live until the heat death of the universe, and beyond, if I can discover a method for doing so. Currently...this is what works and what I will do."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shrug over, "I suppose. But isn't like this eating fast food? Once the novelty wears off, it's just repetitive. It seems so.. Simple." Emma's casual implication over that the other woman was in a rut by her tone of voice. "But I suppose there's awlays variations of this." Eternal life must get to age on you after awhile. "Have you not ever considered trying something simply for the change of it? Moving beyond this casual indulgence to something grander rather than a moment which will come far off?" Decades, centuries, however long.

Selene Gallio has posed:
"How long do you plan on living, Emma?" Selene asks.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shrug, "Oh, as long as my life goes." SHe would quip back. "And yes, I know that in terms of simple years that is of little distinction to you." But an eyeblink. A gesture at Selene 'do go on'.

Selene Gallio has posed:
"As long as my life goes is a very mortal answer. As I said, I intend to live for as long as time itself. Debauchery, moment to moment, is a grain of sand trickling through a cosmic hourglass. It is enough to keep me conscious and awake, and alert for the things I seek to ensure my position in the world. But if you're asking me on a date and to grow old together knitting, I mean, sure why not I've got the time." Selene replies, letting her eyes wander over Emma and probably remembering some of the other outfits she's seen her in around here.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod over, "I see. So what then sort of goal is there in between rather than simply eternity?" She would muse over. "Eternity and comfort. Do thsoe not in the end also include a sense of merely nothingness? OF going through teh rituals because you have simply forgotten what the driving force was in the first place?" She would go over. "And don't you worry that merely ensuring your position shall everntually lead to sloppiness merely asy ou haven't had to keep your skills sharp and your positions and power mean little to an usurper that can outplay you?"

Selene Gallio has posed:
At the comment about an usurper that can outplay you, Selene just shrugs, "It has happened before, it will likely happen again. That is why I must remain alert and working. As opposed to those who are asleep for thousands of years, coming up for air and sustenance and to take the temperature of the world when they feel they can best make their play." She takes a sip of a glass of something that is sitting on the bar. It probably won't kill her. "The goal, as everyone's goal should be, is to be the most powerful being in the universe. I am much closer than you, that is true. But there are things out there that even I do not wish to tangle with at this moment. Eventually, perhaps. Or eventually they may wipe each other out."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod over at Selene, "Well, that sounds like a long, long term plan. And one that will have all those sorts of setbacks, admittedly to it and may or may not ever be achieved." Emma would casually go over, "And might I state my opinion over on that?" In an actual sincere tone that left it open for Selene to deny her the request. Emma would take a sip over o fher own drink while putting up a telepathic field bout the two.

Selene Gallio has posed:
"You may. I probably won't suck out your soul if your opinion displeases me." Selene replies. She may be joking. Maybe.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shrug, "That seems completely banal and pedestrian. There are so many immortal,a ll powerful beings seeking more of the same. Whether or not they succeed.. There's no particular creativity to it. No grander impulse."

Selene Gallio has posed:
"I will leave you to that entirely human misconception of what I mean, then. If you are too dull to see the possibilities that immortality opens up, then, it is not my job to educate you." Selene replies. She asks, "Would you like to go upstairs and..." she lowers her voice to say a few words, "Or, will you be going now?" she asks.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would just smile over at Selene, "Perhpas." She would lean in and go to whisper to Selene. "Just I've seen so many after the same thing it makes me wonder then if they like the idea of it, not the actuality." Whipsering.. Going to then stand up.

Selene Gallio has posed:
"There is more to life than life and death. Mortals have a difficult time coming to grips with that." Selene replies, and then she wraps an arm around Emma's waist, and starts to lead her towards the exit.
