Synopsis: And two friends catch up
Cast of Characters: Bart Allen, Marie-Ange Colbert

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen was running through to check on a animal rescue place up state, and felt a but of a rubble in his tummy and decided to grab something to eat. So, when he saw the ice cream spot, he figured it would work and he found an alley to change in, and the red head walks into the place, wearing a video game t-shirt.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Usually, when Marie wants ice cream, it was just a matter of going to the kitchen to get some. Tragically, the school was out of her favorite flavor!

Fortunately for the seer, the school that she called home wasn't far from one of the most famous ice cream dispensaries in all of America. The home of 31 Flavors! So, she went on a mission. Wearing a gray 'Xavier's' sweater and a knee-length black skirt, she's dressed for the slightly warmer-but not quite warm weather of the day. Her hair's not tied back today, though she has accented it with a black hairband.

She came to get ice cream, though the sight of someone she hasn't seen in... quite some time stops her cold. "Monsieur Allen, is that you?" The French accent hasn't changed. The English accompanying it has gotten a bit better over two years, though!

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "Marie, how are you doing? It has been a while." He tells her. Seems Bart has a pretty good memory for faces and things. He offers a smile and says "Odd running into you here, getting some ice cream too? Want to join me?" He asks, and motions for her to step in front of him in line.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Oui, it has!" she agrees, though a bit of pink raises to her cheeks. "It almost seems like a different world, today, than where we were then."

For multiple reasons, really. They're older. She's in college, now, and so much of her life has changed since the last time she remembers running into the boy. When she's invited to jump in the line? She offers a bright smile and bows her head, before doing so. "Merci beaucoup, Monsieur -- and yes! I had a... how you say... craving, and my freezer was out of the mint chocolate chips."

Better. Her English is better. It's still imperfect, though.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods his head a bit and says "Yea, I know how that is, I was passing through from a trip up state and saw the place so thought I would grab some myself. Bart has been in college as well, and actually even has a real job these days. He looks about and says "So, how have you been? Anything interesting been going on for you?" He tries to avoid more slang to make things easier on her.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
There's a brief pause as Marie places her order at the counter. To be truthful, it couldn't have happened at a better time, because it buys her a little time to answer that question, while she draws out what will inevidently be an order of two scoops of Mint Chocolate Chip.

The answer was yes. Interesting things were definitely happening, though so many of them were... not normal subjects of conversation.

She could mention how the Black Panther took her on a a student! ... but remembers Miss Van Dyne's warning to keep her mouth shut.

She could mention her reunion with a certain brunette! ...but this might not be the best person to bring that up with.

She could mention... oh! "Oh, oui. A while ago, some of my friends and I went to the Themysciran arts center to learn some of their traditions!" Marie replies, grinning a bit before stepping aside for Bart to order; apparantly, it's on her today. "The shields they use are most heavy... or perhaps I am just weak." she admits, laughing softly to herself. "What of yourself? Has anything interesting happened recently?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen was going to pay for it, but she beat him to it. He nods listening to her. He thinks about telling her about Thunder his Jumper from the Themysciran, but thats Impulse not Bart. He makes his order of the largest sundae they have. "Cool, well started going to College at Empire State, and ended up moving to Gotham, where I am working at the Zoo there. He figures those are the two safest things to mention at least at first.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie, for her part, doesn't flinch at Bart's XL-sized order. Did she expect it? No, not really, but can she afford it? Yes. Marie almost never spends money, but works for rich and powerful people. It's hardly going to bankrupt her!

"College is exciting, no? I too am attending... I had also started at Empire State, but dropped out due to... personal reasons," The cards told her to. "...but recently re-enrolled in a private college in the area. Are you studying to work further with animals?" she asks, inclining her head. "...and Gotham! Is it as dangerous a place as I have heard, or are those rumors unfounded?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and as they find a seat he will pull hers out for her, before taking his own and says "Yea, It is interesting and I am hoping to be a vet, maybe specializing in exotic animals." HE admits, and to the question about Gotham he make a soso motion with his hand. "It can be, it is type of place you watch yourself, but rent is cheaper there, and I am pretty good about getting out or avoiding trouble.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Such a gentleman, merci beaucoup." Marie offers as her seat is pulled out, smiling and settling into it demurely. "Oh really?" she asks, eyes focusing on the boy. "A noble calling, to be sure. Animals need care too." A solemn nod to that. Girly-girl that the redhead is, it's probably no surprise she's pro-animal! Especially the cute ones.

"I see... so probably not the kind of place I should come visit, oui?" It's gentle teasing, but also a little serious. Marie knows she isn't the most physically imposing. She practically has 'victim' written all over her, at least when she's on her own. "I am glad that it works well for you, though."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen says, "If you were, I would suggest having a friend meet you at the station and show you around." He offers in confirming but saying she could be there. "My ex and I started setting up an animal rescue/preserve upstate, but she ended up having to move, luckily I have been able to find some other backers, so it is still in the works."

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"That seems like a wise idea. Perhaps you can show me around your new town sometime, then?" Yes, she considers Bart a friend! Friendship is a very low bar for Marie. The talk of exes, however, dampens her spirit a little... which makes it a perfect time to dig a spoon into her ice cream. Ice cream solves all woes.

"I am guessing the distance made things... unworkable?" she asks, sounding sympathetic. "Distance was the death blow for Mademoiselle Power and myself, too... she wished to pursue fame in Hollywood, and I would have only been in her way." A little shrug, there. "...but it is wonderful that you are moving forward with your plan. It is a most noble endeavour, I think."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "Distance, and different goals yea." He says and munches a bit and says "I am thinking about an interesting side for the preserve though, that I think comes from working on Gotham. A place for animals that have been used by supervillains that normal zoos and such can't handle

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie's eyebrows arch in unison at Bart's words. "Do you have a plan for how you would handle them, if normal zoos cannot?" she asks, curious. After all, it's /Bart/ she knows, not Impulse. So there's nothing in her mind that suggests he'd have a special advantage--except.. "Oh! Perhaps you know some superheroes who would be able to provide aid in caring for these animals?" She's not entirely sure how much time supers would have to devote, but they'd likely be well equipped for it... and Bart /knowing/ supers is far from out of the question.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen says, "Well, I have had contact with a few, but also, the fact we are setting the part up with them in mind it will help us. We know what we are getting into more than just setting up for normal and trying to compensate. A lot of the animals there will be ones others won't take. " He brings his phone up and shows two cats just out of kittenhood but not full grown. Both black each missing the opposite eye, "Huggin, and Muninn these boys are my cats.""

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"That makes sense, sort of like... Arkham, or The Raft, when compared to normal prisons, oui?" Marie isn't entirely out of the loop on superhuman affairs, afterall! "Well, I hope it goes well for you. Those poor animals have certainly gone through enough and need a place that is able to help them." ...and then come the cat pictures, and it's pretty easy to see that Marie. Just. Melts.

"Awwww!" she coos, "They are most handsome felines! How long have you had them?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "Just over a year ago, Emiko and I got them, and they were staying with her, but they could not go with her. So now, they join the turtles, guinea pigs, and lizards. Luckily the others are all enclosure animals, and we made sure to make sure they were cat proof when we got the boys.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Emiko, she is the ex you spoke of?" Marie asks, curious. Happy that Bart found happiness, at least for a little while -- and perhaps even more than that, a /purpose!/ "...and... oh my. That is quite a zoo that you have! How do you find time to take care of so many animals?" Time is one of the biggest reasons that Marie doesn't have a pet. The girl's so focused on trying to improve herself that it doesn't leave her a lot of free time -- and that's often spoken-for as is!

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen smiles and says "Well I make sure to put time aside for each of them, takes a bit of scheduling but I also have a friend who comes by and feeds them and such if I have to be away for a while. " He does not mention finding time for things is not so much a problem for him, but finding things to fill his time is more his issue

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie doesn't question it, she just nods and smiles. Never having been a pet owner herself, it's not that easy for her to try and even guesstimate the amount of time that would be needed for so many animals... and she has no reason to disblieve the one who's studying to become a vet! "Ahh, that makes sense, then. It is good to have friends you can rely on, non?" she asks, digging her spoon in--- and realizing she's reached the bottom of the little ice cream bowl. Welp.

"It was good to see you again, though... and as a fellow college student, we should stay in touch, oui?" They can talk about professors they might've shared! Share tips for classes they've taken! Marie pulls out her phone, tapping a few buttons before turning the screen to face Bart; displayed is her number for part to copy down and/or into his own phone if he so chooses.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and will bring his phone up to put the number in on it, and gives her his number. Mind you now that he has seen the number he will remember it even without his phone "I wil send ya my class schedule we can see if we have any breaks at the same time maybe do lunch or something sometime.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie will take the moment to actively type in Bart's number; there's no photographic memory for Marie. Well. Aside from memories that she actually /takes/ photographs of. There's quite a few of those plastered all over the various walls of her apartment. "That sounds like a most wonderful idea, I look forward to seeing it so we can plan accordingly. Say hello to your animaux for me!" she adds, moving to stand and giving a friendly wave.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods and waves to her as well. Bart enjoys time with friends. This time is one he has come to enjoy and calls his own.
