Fancy meeting you here.
Date of Scene: 06 February 2023
Location: Fourth Floor: Lounge and Sitting Room
Synopsis: Talia and Charlie have their second run in, in an unexpected place.
Cast of Characters: Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe, Talia al Ghul

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
The Candle, Booke, and Belle appears to be a normal(ish) bookstore from the outside. Of course in the world of magic, is there ever a normal bookshop. Probably only the chain ones. Which could honestly just be some sort of personifcation of capitalism given sentience and eat people. Bookshops. Beware.

Still this one is the current psuedo-Headquarters for Justice League Dark. Several floors devouted all sorts of things really. The Lounge and Sitting Room though is one of the most comfortable. Couches. Lanterns. Thrift Swap second hand comfort decor.

Tonight Charlie is curled up on one of those couches, with a good view to the stairway, even if her nose is in a book. It has an olden magic book vibe to it really. Bound in red leather with hand written script. Beside her is a electronic tablet where she keeps jotting down notes.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul occasionally goes in and out of the Nook. Most often it's simply making deliveries. Talia's methods are often oriented more towards the fatal than many heroes often prefer. And not all in the Justice League Dark necessarily agree with them. Not that the circumstance has come up yet.
But still, she's here with an array of small beakers heavily sealed that in them have various bits of poison, herbs, acids, and other very dangerous, potent concoctions carefully cocooned.
She would glance over at Charlie and then 'ah' in identification while walking towards her. "I do hope that you took my instruction to light."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charle is in her civvies really, which is the same look that she had the last time she ran into Talia. Different jeans and all but the same WonderWoman hoodie. She glances up from her book when Talia comes into view and then blinks a couple of times.

She carefully closes her book and eyes the older woman for al ong moment then nods slowly. "I have definitely been keeping it in mind yet." she notes with a touch of bemusement. "Thankfully it looks like you have your hands full.. of ..stuff." head tilts studying the array. "So I probably am not about to suffer a mugging...."

After letting that trail off she shrugs a bit. "So.. maybe I had who sent you to hassle me with impromptu lessons wrong... you're a member...?" vague gesture to the establishment.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would watch over at Charlie, going to take a few moments to slide the package and it's contents over to a stable placement over on a table, walking away from it as she would glance at Charlie and smile.
"Good, I suppose that I'll allow those times I was close enough to hit you on the back of the head and you never noticed it pass then since you're making the best attempt."
Actually she had never really bothered to even try again but Charlie doesn't have to -know- that. Better to anchor her mystique.
"Yes, I am. This area hasn't rejected my presence so that means I'm on somewhat reasonable terms with the group."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
That absolutely gets a little blink from Charlie. She thinks back trying to figure out if she evere had not noticed Talia creeping behind her ready to pounce. Of course. If she was successful then again Charlie wouldn't have noticed. Gah.

"Creepy." is what the chipper young woman finally intones with a note of seriousness.

"Well... they don't tend to be too judgemental really. Lot of dark wizards with tragic pasts around here and all that.... takes all sorts..." she smiles though, sort of the opposite vibe. "I'm Charlie."

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would slide over and take a seat and just smile. The mindgames. It's all about the games. She doesn't elaborate further. She's made her point that she can sneak up on the girl after all. Not that she's normally near that good. The girl just left an opening for it.
"That's part of the point. I'm here to on occasion lend assistance within my particular fields of specialty. A pleasure to meet you, Charlie. I'm Talia."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
The book is tilted a bit on her leg back and forth, like a very old fidget toy, not out of nervousness just energy having to go somewhere and the conversation isn't enough to make her hold still.

"Nice to meetcha Talia." is said with a genuine tone and smile. "What sort of specialty?" she inquires curious, glancing over at the beakers on the table before looking back to the assassin. "Alchemy or something?"

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would shake her head, "Nothing quite so potent I'm afraid. Something rather simple. Poisons, paralytics, toxins of varying types. One needs to have many options available when one is in the field. Magic, blades, firearms.. Sometimes one needs to have something older at hand as well."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"Well.. I mean.. blades and all are pretty old. So is magic now that I think about it. From what I have been able to surmise.. like Lemuria.. Atlantis.. ancient stuff.. I mean the Amazons... wild and old as dirt right?" she probably shouldn't say that to any of the Amazonians faces though.

    Focus Charlie.

"Poisons and toxins.. so not magic but more herbology and all... useful skills.... I should probably learn more about the opposite of that.. like antidotes and resistances." she shakes her head though "I'm chaos magic myself.. which makes it hard to learn structured stuff... fire works well though it turns out."

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would slide her hands together on her lap, "Yes, all of them have rather unique things. Magic, tactics, fighting styles.. Best to learn and observe them all. Familiarize, even if one cannot achieve expertise. They are among the best on the planet for a reason. Observe them. Understand how they fight. Utilzie what you can glean from them to improve yourself." Talia falls into the routine of trainer.
    And killer.
She would nod at Charlie, "One does not have to know everything." Unless they're Batman. "One best works with others for a reason. To cover thier own gaps of knwoledge and work as a team." Unless they're Batman.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"That is why I've been training with all sorts.. magic.. fighting styles..." who taught her league fighting styles is still a mystery though. "I guess tactics.. though if I am honest that is my roughest patch." a sheepish sort of smile there.

"The whole looking before leaping sometimes escapes me I'm afraid." yup to put it mildly. "Thankfully I do have good friends and acting as a team.. definitely key like you say. Do you teach... you sound like a lot of the people I've been learning from." trainer mode is a thing.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would smile over at Charlie. "It's difficult. It goes against instinct and initiative. The hardest part of training is learning to hold yourself back. Even when your mind, your body, and your soul scream at you to do something else, to act without thinking. Those are the hardest parts of learning." She's honest.
"And to some degree. I've had a few.. Experiences." Charlie shows no indication of knwoing exactly who she is. Talia's not going to add any further.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"That... has definitely been my experience." the part about it being difficult to hold back. She sighs a little bit. "I've still got a long way to go to master that lesson." she just shakes her head slightly.

"Cool." about Talia having some experience teaching. "I'm not sure I'm the right person to learn about toxins and paralytics.. but I am sure some of the folk around here would be interested in it. Though.. I might be interested in learning to identify them..." she muses. "So how long you been associated with the team?"

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would lean back in her seat, "It's a lesson that takes a lifetime to learn. And even then it's one that's never finished until it ends." The lifetime, she means. "Going against what is natural for yoru body to do is difficult."
She would smile over at Charlie's comments. "Only a short while. I was.. Taken in for a matter of convenience and I've taken here as a place tos tay on occasion since."
