Getting the Steps in
Date of Scene:	07 February 2023
Location:	Brooklyn Sewers
Synopsis:	Kainashi is allowed to take short jaunts outside the lair during her recovery. She bumps into Sundance, who shares Jellybeans with her.

Kainashi has posed:
    Kainashi had been cleared to take short walks around the area -- no engaging in ninja shenanigans, no jumping or running and definately not allowed to go running off in search of adventure on rocket powered rollerskates.

    Not bad for someone who mostly can deal with yes/o questions.

    So she's walking... well, more like 'hurriedly stomping one foot around' using a pair of crutches in order to manuver herself. She's stuck close to the Lair, keeping off her still-healing knee from the Central Park incident.

Sundance has posed:
Was that the knee that Sundance shot with a beanbag? He's been feeling really bad about it. He had no idea just HOW bad it was for her. So he'd come to apologize, bringing his favorite snack food.

Sally couldn't tell him where the Lair was, but he at least had a general idea of the area, and a strong sense of smell. So he had managed to find his way to the area, "Now where the hell is this place? I suppose I shouldn't show up unannounced.." He muses to himself, as he starts digging his smartphone out of his vest.

Kainashi has posed:
    A voice. A nosewiggle and an earwiggle, and the young ninja-in-training looks about, and then brings her crutches up and uses them to vault to the ceiling of the tunnel, looping an arm ito some shielded electrical conduit, near a grate that's been sliced open to accept pizza boxes.

    Truly, the food of champions.

    She then fiddles with her phone for a moment more before a scary child's voice echos through the sewer, that greeting of Balloon Boy from one of those Five Nights at Freddy's games!

    <"Hello?">

Sundance has posed:
A voice? Well that's probably not great. Sundance stops where he's at, his right hand shifting down to his side a little bit, while the grocery bag on in his left hand stays put, "Howdy." He replies back to the voice, "Listen if you're one of them turtles, I ain't looking for trouble. I'm just tryin' to find Kainashi, wanna say I'm sorry."

Kainashi has posed:
    The kid's voice echoes with "Hello?" again. There's a bit of a scrabble of something on concrete and block coming towards him, like some sort of horror game, skittering, scraping -- and then a wooden clack and rattle as one of the repaired-and-re-cushioned wooden crutches fall from the ceiling, clattering to the concrete walkway.

    Followed by its twin.

     -- and then its user as Kai tumbles, tucking, rolling, and ending up splutted on her front side.

Sundance has posed:
This is getting creepy. Sundance shifts his feet a bit, the hackles on the back of his neck standing up, "Now c'mon out, I ain't gonna hur-" The clatter of the crutch gets him to turn his head around, locking onto it like the predator he is, until the second one falls, and the user follows after that.

Sundance looks on in surprise for a couple of moments, "Oh shit, let me help." He quickly moves over to her, bending down to give her an arm to pull herself up with, as he grabs one of the crutches with the other, "Fancy meeting you here."

Kainashi has posed:
    THe jig was up!

    Kainashi allows herself to get helped up, and unlike their previous encounters, Kai seems a bit more friendly and animated. She gives an embarrassed smile, notably not showing her teeth, and her ears draw back a moment as she's helped to her legs. The leg that was wrecked a bit by sandbags and ninja-slices is bound up and bent to help her stay off it, and she pulls herself up as neat as you please.

    Her tail wags, though, both in greeting and in thanks as she takes the crutches.

Sundance has posed:
"No problem." Sundance replies, as he makes sure she's steady on those crutches, "So hey, got somewhere we can sit down so we can get you off that knee? Sorry about that, by the way. I was, well. I had no idea what they were doin' to you."

He blames himself. His escape no doubt lead to the much more intense controls they used on Kainashi. A stun collar just wasn't going to do it, it seems.

Kainashi has posed:
    Kainashi looks up to Sundance.

    She scratches the back of her head a moment as she tries to puzzle out who he is, and then she gets sudden understanding, and embarrassedly rubs the back of her head, and then sort of leaning onto the cruches she lifts both her hands and waves them back and forth, fingers out. Not his fault, she seems to say, and then she looks around.

    There's some old ladders that used to lead to manholes, now paved over. She takes them and with both hands on the metal, bends it sloooowly out, forming a make-shift bench enough for the two to sit on.

    Her ears come up, and her tail wags.

Sundance has posed:
Sundance is a lot stronger than a normal person is, but he's not that strong. He looks impressed, as he moves and takes a seat, "I'm sure you'll be back on your feet in no time." He says, as he pulls something out of the bag, "You want a jellybean?" He asks, as he holds out the bag of jellybeans to her.

Kainashi has posed:
    Jellybean?? One of the few candies that Kai was allowed. She looks up, nose wriggling t the rustling of the bag, nd she sits as well, folding her good leg under her to cushion, and carefully leaning the crutches against the ladder, she eagerly nods her head, and holds out cupped hands, ears pricking up again.

Sundance has posed:
He pours out a handfull of jellybeans for her, and then takes some himself, popping a few into his mouth, "Null wouldn't ever let me have these but I snuck them in after ops a lot." He pauses for a second when he talks about Null, "Listen sorry, I didn't mean to bring them up it's just...All I'd ever known 'til recently."

Kainashi has posed:
    Kainashi monch, carefully settling on her leg as she listens to Sundance. Her ear pricks up, and her head tilts, her tail giving a low sweep behind her as she gives an understanding nod, popping a couple into her mouth at a time.

    She points to Sundance with her free hand. She points to her head, and then she points to herself now, her tail wagging as she gives a grin, this one shows a little bit of teeth.

Sundance has posed:
Sundance smiles back. He's actually pretty happy to see her smiling, "So, I just wanted to tell ya, if you need any help with stuff, you can reach out. I know I might be with Hobb and his gang but, well.." He shakes his head a bit, "I understand what you've been through." Seeing that doctor's face again the other night still isn't sitting well with him.

Kainashi has posed:
    The red and white pitbull with the scarred up fce gives a sad sort of smile up to Sundance, and she reaches up, slowly, and pets the Coyote on the shoulder before she breathes out, her shoulders sagging, her eyes half closing.

    She taps her throat, and then mimics a breaking motion with both hands, nearly losing jellybeans in the process, but manages to catch them before they fall to the ground (to which not even she would grab anything off), and she pops them into her mouth.

Sundance has posed:
"I heard what they did." He replies, though as she quickly snatches the beans out of the air the coyote is impressed, "Nice catch."

After a moment though he gets more serious, "Was it that same doc? The one who was a hologram when we got there?" He wonders. It probably was, he's the type, "We'll get 'im. I don't know how or when but we'll get 'im."

Kainashi has posed:
    Kai's ears fold back, and her tail tucks at the question. Her shoulders rise up, and she appears uncomfortable with the question, shifting her weight before she takes a breath, and nods her hea, her eyes going down low. Her mouth moves, but only a wheezing sort of sound comes out of it.

    And she recalls then that she can't talk, and gives a frustrated huff, both ears swinging forward.

Sundance has posed:
"Hey, don't." Sundance says, as he reaches out with a hand and puts it on her shoulder, "I'm sorry. I won't bring it up again. You can tell me when you're ready." He says, though the grip on her shoulder is soft, what she can't see is his claws digging into his other hand nearly to the point of drawing blood.

Kainashi has posed:
    Kai gives a mod, and she brings her hand up and puts it over Sundance's. And then she seems to remember something. She points to herself, and then lifts her left ear. There's a pair of Kanji there, and she blocks out the 'nashi' and just points to Kai. Not that Sundance could read Kanji, but she doesn't think about that. She then points to Sundance.

Sundance has posed:
He glances at the writing on her ear, which he KNOWS means her name, because Alopex told him when he asked about identifying features.

"Right, you're Kainashi." Or the name only Alopex knows, "My name's Sundance. Which I think I told ya the other night, but my ears were ringing from all the gunfire and I was mid-adrenaline dump, so my memory might be fuzzy."

Kainashi has posed:
    The smaller canine gives another slight grin, embarrassed, and then she points to herself and holds up her fingers in a V -- or a two.

    She gives a small wag of her tail, and innocently holds her hands out for more jellybeans. Tasty tasty jellybeans.

    The only thing about feeding strays though, Sundance, is they tend to like hanging out with you more!
