High Speed Pursuit
Date of Scene: 09 February 2023
Location: Brooklyn
Synopsis: Heroes respond to a shoot out that ranges through the streets of Brooklyn and up onto Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The fight is stopped, but Vulture swoops down and makes off with the unknown contents that the fight was over.
Cast of Characters: Steve Rogers, Shayera Thal, Natasha Romanoff, Peter Parker, Phoebe Beacon, T'Challa, Alura In-Ze, Jayna, Koga Miura, Marie-Ange Colbert

Steve Rogers has posed:
The worst of rush hour is done, the commuters having made it out of the city to their homes in the surrounding suburban towns. But there is still light traffic on many of the city streets, and more on the various expressways. The night is clear but cool, the temperature on its way below freezing again before the night is done.

A small convoy of vehicles pulls out from a rather nondescript building in Brooklyn named Thropmore Research. An SUV in front, followed by a large commercial van. Then a panel truck, with another van and an SUV bringing up the rear. They make their way through traffic. Blocks ahead are the Narrows, a waterway that separates Brooklyn from Staten Island, and is spanned by the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.

The vehicles stop at a red light next to a car full of young men whose radio is blaring. One of them with a visible can of beer he's drinking from. The light turns green and the car peels out, taking off rapidly up the street which has a clear stretch thanks to the stop light. The convoy starts up again at a more sedate pace.

The night is suddenly filled with the sound of racing engines though as about a half dozen vehicles pull around a corner behind the convoy and race towards it. They are a mix of cars and pickup trucks with a large van following them. A man leans out of a window from one of the lead vehicles, pointing a grenade launcher forward. It whumps and sends an explosive projectile towards the convoy! Though his aim is a bit off. It goes off between the panel truck and a taxi that was passing in the next lane. The taxi's rear end lifts off the ground and spins partway as the nose slams head on into an oncoming car.

The convoy gun their engines and accelerate. The windows of the back SUV go down and the barrel of an assault rifle sticks out, firing back at the fleet of cars and trucks in hot pursuit. More guns are brought out on both sides.

It doesn't take long before 911 calls have the incident being broadcast across police channels calling for cars to respond. Those with scanners might hear. ALso one person who was taking a video at the time caught the explosion and that quickly goes up on social media and goes viral, jumping to the top of people's feeds while the fight is still young!

The cars race through the New York streets, heading for the distant Brooklyn shore, exchanging shots that send pedestrians diving for cover, and other cars swerving off the road.

Shayera Thal has posed:
It had promised to be a quiet night. Shayera was about to call the watch tower and tell them she was going to come up with coffee from the local starbuck when the 911 call hits her communicator. She steps out of line and then takes a moment to beat her wing and catch one of those updrafts and take flight. It isn't long until Hawk Woman catches sight of the moving gun battle and then frowns. Her helmet feeds her details on the vehicles and sights threats as she gives her powerful eagle like wings a few more beats for speed before spreading them to try and use the wing to glide along and see if she can catch up with the vehicles. "Can't get a cup of coffee in peace." She mumbles to herself as she gets a steady grip on that giant metal mace of hers and thumbs on the electrical field that surrounds it. "Going to be one of those days."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha had been riding through Gotham after leaving GIRL Headquarters in Bludhaven. Normally something simple like a shootout is somewhat off her radar, but on this day when she's got some actual time on her hands and she's had at least some time where action wasn't against invading aliens, dark elves, or such things the likes of which vastly outgunned her.. Having something simple like rocket bikes is a welcome change of pace.
She goes to clip her way over to the SHIELD, and then the GIRL channels <<Unknown attackers on unknown vehicular convoy. MOving to engage>> They could be SHIELD, they could be STAR Labs, they could simply be a group of Maggia dons having gotten on the bad side of a group of bikers..
IT didn't really matter to her, i twas just an opportunity engage something she could actually -hurt-. So there's almost a bit of sadism present on her face as she waves in and out of traffic, rather than on something exotic, fancy, and top of the line instead it's a rusted looking, old 1980's Soviet era knockoff of a German knockoff of a Harley Davidson. Nowhere on the bike are signs of expensive retrofits, loving and tender care..

Peter Parker has posed:
A car chase. It is cliche, but it seems to be just about the absolute perfect thing.

Spider-man hears the alert, watches the video on social media. He takes a few moments to study the details of it. The patterns of movement. How the criminals bob and weave. It is always helpful to study one's prey, anticipate their movement. Why more supers don't do that is beyond him.

He looks up and takes careful aim at a building across the way and fires a strand of his webbing, waiting for it to impact. He tugs it when it does, tentative, wanting to make sure it is attached. It is. He takes a deep breath, and then runs towards the edge of the building, making a leap of faith. Faith in his abilities. Faith in this body.

It works almost too well, the webline going slack as his legs propel him forward. He braces his hands and feet just before he smacks into the building, the force of the impact cracking the shatterproof window. A few office workers look up to see. He gives them a friendly wave. Impressive. VERY impressive.

He turns his gaze towards the next building, fires another strand, and this time he goes into his leap BEFORE the strand hits. His momentum, as it catches, propels him as he swings. He watches another building loom, fires another strand. It catches. He releases the first, and is off on another swing, before firing a third strand.

It is so simple to do. Amazing.

If all of it is so simple, what will happen when _actual_ expertise is applied?

Spider-man flings another web and takes off, zooming his way down the city streets towards the troubled convoy.

Those criminals will not know what hit them.

Literally.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
She wasn't supposed to be in New York today, but a previous sidetrip to the Hellfire club required her to make a brief return, and Phoebe Beacon (repping the Waynes), had paused at a sandwich shop in order to grab a bite to eat before hopping the Hyperloop home. Then the 911 calls keyed up on her glasses, and she purses her lips, giving a window and throwing a small pile of twenties on the counter, she abandons sandwich and dips down a back alley

Unfortunately, she's going to be going without her armor. Fortunately... that means she's not on Bat-Time.

A grapple, a swing, and she's airborne, switching to tactical pants, black bicycle boots and a hooded vest, black gloves glowing along the back as she swings into action, coming up to the roofs and taking a running leap off them.

And her domino attempts to connect to the local Heroic Bands as she falls through the air, and then grapples again to swing out over the streets.

Not as dramatic without a cape, or flashy without the red and blue, but she seems to fit right in.

T'Challa has posed:
It was night, and after a bit of training T'Challa is taking Marie back home though he ditched the limo this night. He is on a Dodge Tomahawk wearing his black purple suit and helmet of course, as safty first. He is just going down the road enjoying the ride. That is till he hears the beep in his comms, as he had installed them into the helmet so he could talk to the passanger in their own helmet with them hearing him. With a tap to the side of his helm as they drive one handed for a bit the visor shows what is going down and some of the 911 calls as he was hooked in as not only he was an Avenger, but his sister was in town so all his tech is slowly getting upgraded.

Over the Comms T'Challa speaks.. "There is trouble.. Are you up for a fight?" he asks her with a smile as he could stop some speeding people though he wasn't sure of his passenger. Waiting for his response he nods, "Hold on we are going to speed up" and he guns it as it passes a hundered, then starts reaching two as he is now speeding through the road catching up towards the car race as the cars whip by them on other side going so fast they look to be stationary.

Focusing on the driving as they are now speeding up to two hundred the bike shoots forward from behind "I will drive.. You stop them." he states as he turns just slightly leaning to the side as they pass another car just bearly. "Do not miss." he adds though jokes as he isn't even sure what she is going to do trusting her when she says she can handle it or telling him if she couldn't.

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura adjusts the Kryptonian satellite a few degrees as it becomes clear she needs to search the poles for the Sanctuary of Solitude. Finding a stronger signal, she nods to the computer with a satisfied smile. It's then that she sees the built in link to American law enforcement channels. A high speed chase with guns firing. She looks at some of the footage.

"If I jump at every stone thrown I'd be mothering the entire planet." Her eyes roam over the situation. It seems bad - but there are people there to handle it. Stiiiill.. just in case, she shuts down her project and pulls on her cape, attaching it at the shoulders and heads out of the Fortress of Solitude. It's not a long trip to Brooklyn.

Jayna has posed:
There is a palpable sense of excitement from Jayna as she sits in the back of the taxicab next to her brother, Zan. Between them in a small car carrier is a rather grumply blue monkey chittering angrily away. "We're in NEW YORK!" she says, poking her brother and pointing out the window?

For his part, Zan is also staring out the window, but desperately trying to avoid throwing up. It was his first trip in an airplane, and the turbulence was just not what he expected. And so he is rather quiet. Because if he opens his mouth to talk, he is not sure what all is going to come out.

Jayna swats at the tail that runs in front of her face and hisses at the container. "Stop it, Gleek, you're not really supposed to be allowed in a car!" The driver looks up for a moment, suspicion aroused, but before he can say something, cars go zipping past him, and an explosion rocks the roadway.

Jayna turns around and plasters her face against the back windshield of the car. "ZAN! CROOKS!" She starts bouncing enough to get the car rocking back and forth on its tires, drawing out a moan from her twin brother. "Come on, let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Before he can protest, she has flung open the door, carrier in one hand and her brother's hand in the other, dragging him out to run in pursuit.

"HEY!" calls the taxi driver. "WHAT PLANET ARE YOU FROM!?!?" he calls after the adorable looking blond Swedish kids as the run away without paying.

If he only knew...

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve Rogers was just arriving home, at his Brooklyn apartment that he'd kept after SHIELD had set him up with it soon after he came out of the ice. Though his room in Avenger's Mansion is used a lot, having his own place to get away is desirable as well.

His motorcycle pulls up outside the door of Carnegie's Gym, the old boxing gym that Steve also has the keys to, again thanks to SHIELD. He's just climbing off the bike when his Avengers comm chimes. <<There is a fight between multiple vehicles, with assault weapons and a grenade launcher involved. It is four blocks from your location, Captain. Sending details now.>>

Steve was just starting to pull the case holding his shield off the back of the bike. Instead he pulls the shield out, tossing the case over in front of the door to the gym and affixing the shield to his back. Revving the engine, the motorcycle spins 180 degrees and then he's taking off towards the fight, just wearing jeans and a leather jacket, but with the iconic shield at least.

Koga Miura has posed:
The police band gets the attention of someone who's somewhat more suited. Koga was just out for a nice drive along the waterways. He had recently returned from a trip abroad and was just visiting more or less. Going through the streets and looking at the sights again.

The gun battle gets some attention, however, especially as his colleagues in what is basically his mobile base call it in to him since he's nearby. Mostly. That has him racing to the scene.

Once a few blocks away, a shifting black and green appears around his waist forming a strange belt before the mass goes over him. At the same time, his motorcycle shifts colors to a darker green and he speeds up as he darts through traffic. The black and green appears again to envelop him as golden flecks appear before leaving him in his larger, samurai-like form.

He takes a moment to radio his mobile base, "Check frequencies for friendlies in the area. Coordinate. I'm in pursuit."

That has the mobile base that he normally use come across a bunch that could use some coordination a bit. There's soon a broadcast, "SHIELD Mobile Base Dragon Den to friendlies. With consent we are establishing a comms link for vehicular pursuit and beginning to notify police of help on the way and to begin blockade on known route. Agent Ryu Senshi is in pursuit. Be advised of at least one grenade launcher having been sighted. Please confirm consent and call signs when able."

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
It's been quite the day for Marie; training with T'Challa is always exhausting, but at least it's not /too/ exhausting. The King of Wakanda doesn't push her past her limits, only up to them, which is fortunate because left to her own devices she'd likely keep trying until she could barely move.

So she's on the back of the Tomahawk, wearing a white woolen coat over a red sweater and leggings, and her red hair's sticking out of the helmet T'Challa was kind enough to loan her for the ride. It's a fancy thing! "I am, oui." she replies over the internal comms. He made it pretty clear that he knew about some of the secrets she'd been keeping. Now it was time to show just what she can do. "You don't have to get too close. I can strike from a distance."

Fingers are already digging into her coat to seek out the pouch that contains her tarot cards... and eyes, meanwhile, are scanning for the Bad Guys.

Steve Rogers has posed:
The cars are racing through the city streets. The convoy's lead SUV stays out front as if on the lookout for anyone ahead, but the lead van pulls over into another lane and then starts to drop back as if protecting the panel truck is the convoy's priority. The convoy and chasing vehicles are having to weave through some traffic.

It's easy to tell chasing vehicles are combatants. All of them have weapons visible, from handguns to assault rifles, though only the first few vehicles are able to get clear shots off without risking hitting their companions.

The guy with the grenade launcher leans out of the window again, aiming it. Bullets whizz his way as those in the escort vehicles see him. Someone must warn the panel truck driver over a radio, because it swerves just before he fires. The explosion scorches the side of one of the vans. The truck is unharmed, but the swerve makes it slam into a civilian's pickup that it was passing.

The pickup hits a curb and flies over it into a corner gas station that is full of cars fueling up. It crashes right through two of the gasoline pumps and slams into one of the cars that was pumping gas. Flammable gasoline sprays from the destroyed pumps, starting to pool and spread across the ground. A few people who were pumping gas run. The pickup driver is stuck behind his airbag, and there are people in other cars there still. The gasoline flows across the ground, spreading almost as if seeking an ignition source. Like the smoking engine of the crashed pickup.

Up ahead, the on ramp that leads up to the crossing of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge can be seen.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
MM, the bridge makes for an interesting chokepoint. Natasha goes to rev her engine, zooming on ahead and racing past the group. She just looks like someone on an older motorcycle revving on along to try and get out of the melee and to avoid being caught up in the worst o fit. For any that are on the Avengers or SHIELD Tac-nets, she goes to tie in her own position.
<<Will stay in front and if the group goes to try and head further, will deploy caltrops.>> Because of the modifications that her vehicle does have, rather nasty tire spikes are included in the list despite it's seemingly dedrepit state. She goes to pace ahead and parallel the convoy. Her intent is to be ahead on the bridge in case the fight starts to spread out.

Shayera Thal has posed:
Well that is a bother as much as the hot headed Thangarian would love to put her mace into one of those vehicles the lives of civilians come first. That and a few shots from rear vehicles cause her to have to engage in aerial acrobatics that slow her down. And if she is reading the various radio frequencies more heroes are coming in so she breaks off and deals with the pick up. Dipping her wings and letting gravity help her she swoops down and then extends them at the last second to glide over to the man behind the pick up. She physically tears the door off and then grabs the man out of it and says,
"Hold on old timer." Pulling the man out she beats her wings and then gets him out of the immediant danger, making sure that he is safely out of the way before setting him down. She doesn't stop for praise but instead with a few more powerful wing beats goes airborn and catches a updrafted to launc her skywards and back into the pursuit of the chase cars.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
<This is Balm, out of Gotham. Hope I'm not overstepping my boundaries,> she answers back, coming down on the bridge as well, and she raises her hands, faintly glowing shields forming in front of her to help direct the oncoming convoy, the lazily spinning eight-pointed star and hieroglyphics making her identity obvious.

She turns to Natasha and gives a nod. <Looks like you need a traffic signal.> she states with amusement into the coms!

T'Challa has posed:
As they speed on T'Challa taps the side of his helmet again, and his voice comes on com.. "This is Panther, I am coming on scene," he glances in his mirror at Marie. "I am times 2, and right behind them, how far are you Cap?" he notes as he is watching the road, as he had to drive reacting to what was coming not what was there now as it was too late for that. His visor helped a lot as it had all kind of scanning devices to let him know if there was any danger though his reflexes is where the true skill came in.

"There are others here but I..." he stops as one of the pickups hits a curb, and flips over as they drive under he actually is soon will be starting to slow down now as he is catching up, and this bike was way faster then them as whatever happends to the truck is already behind them as they are moving so quickly now. "We can't wait on these people to move Widow." he used her handle as they were on a maybe public channel. To Marie behind him he adds, "They have a gernade laucher" he nods towards the one that fired the shot. "Stop him first, then worry about the little things"

Speaking of little things he does have to start swearving as the bullets come. He frowns as he continues to get her closer as he swearves onto the sidewalk as bullets hit the cars, and signs on the edge of the street as he speeds by though not as fast keeping pace more then speeding now as he wanted to give Marie a clear angle as she said she could do her thing at a distance.

Steve Rogers has posed:
There's a roar of a motorcycle and Steve Rogers zooms around a corner, coming out behind the chasing vehicles.

<<Oh, not too far away, Your Majesty,>> he replies. <<Agreed, people in harm's way with all these bullets and grenades flying.>>

Steve pulls his shield off his back and moves it in front of himself for protection. Which also draws attention. Two men in the back of a chasing pickup turn and begin firing at him. One a handgun, another a semi-automatic rifle. Bullets ping off Cap's shield and make little sparks on the pavement as they hit around him.

He guns the throttle, the bike accelerating at a rate the pickup could only dream of. The motorcycle zooms forward, and just before it hits the back of the pickup, Steve hops up, feet on his seat so he can leap and land in the back of the pickup.

A smash of his shield breaks the rifle in two. Cap pivots and sweeps the legs out from under the pistol-wielder, causing him to fall into the truck bed. Continuing the motion, Steve brings his shield up again and clangs it down on the head of the man holding the two rifle halves, trying to take him down without knocking him out of the truck. Unfortunately the man tries to take a swing at Cap with the rifle stock and trips over the side of the truck, falling and bouncing off the pavement a few times before he rolls to a stop.

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Superwoman arrives above the scene of the chaos. The cars racing through the streets shooting at each other is hard to miss. It's when a pickup crashes in to a gas station though that her attention focuses in. A woman with a giant mace rushes in to help out the car crash victim.

As she had hoped, there are ample people to deal with this crisis. Kal was right about this planet - they sometimes need a helping hand but can mostly handle it by themselves. With people running away from the gas station, cars abandoned, Alura notices the gas pumping all over the ground.

The situation worsens so very fast Alura barely has time to catch it. A single spark ignores the fuel. The remaining tanks explode and one launches itself across the way to a bridge pillar and strikes it. Flames flash out across the ground putting even more traffic in danger.

Alura swoops down and helps stop a car before it drives in to the flames. The driver is wide eyed and gives a thankful nod to Superwoman. She draws in a deep breath and blows it across the flames. They're spreading so fast but they freeze over. The fuel underground is starting to burn now though and the bridge pylon makes pained creaking noises.

Peter Parker has posed:
There is crime afoot, but for his part, Spider-man does not have much of a sense of urgency to get there. He swings through the streets, in the general direction of the violence, but feels the rush of air past his mask. He closes his eyes in midswing, just enjoying the sensation of weighlessness that comes at the apex of the arc, and then the acceleration of gravity as he downswings. A hand casts another strand of webbing out to a building, even eyes closed. "Practically autopilot," he says, a smile crossing his face.

He will get to the convoy soon. He is sure there will be miscreants there to deal with, if the usual crime fighters of New York are any indication.

Koga Miura has posed:
The mobile base responds quickly to the various communications. "Acknowledging consent. Patching in."

Ryu Senshi meanwhile, guns his bike. He's mostly bullet proof, but these are assault weapons so he uses the maneuverability and speed to do some vehicular dodging, and generally come up on the back of the assailants. That has the back few turning to engage him as bullets start to fly at him. That has him dodging left and right. Even then the bullets are tearing up and leaving a few dents in the motorcycle's frame as he pursues. One even clips his helmet covered head causing him to growl.

Having only one ranged weapon, he reaches back to pull what should be said bow and... ends up with his armor growing it's sword instead. That has the armored samurai slowing slightly for a second as he adjusts. Which earns him another few bullets, some actually hurting a bit before he resumes anti-gunfire driving tactics.

<... guess the adrenaline is making it harder to focus for me.> He notes over the comms, <Ryu Senshi, engaging the assailants. Anyone know what we are protecting or trying to stop? I have no visual on the convoy ahead.>

He guns his bike going for a quick burst of speed to overtake the SUV that was firing at him. He brings the sword in an upwards slice at the assault rifle to take it out in passing before sticking it into a front tire quickly and gunning again to avoid the incoming wildly moving vehicle.

He almost loses said sword in doing so, but it's still something that he's wanted to do and quite frankly adrenaline junkie tactics are best for something like this. Usually.

He does comment, <Dragon Den, notify police that we are causing pursuit vehicle crashes. Detain if possible.>

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
T'Challa's voice in her head, well, in her helmet rather than in her head like Emma or Jean's telepathy is strange enough. Having another stranger -- no, multiple strangers now?! -- coming over the internal comms is stranger still. She's going to roll with it as best she can, though.

<Ah... confirmed, Monsieur Senshi. This is Tarot.> Marie's super-alias isn't particularly well known, though people with connections to the Xaviers, the Titans, or SHIELD certainly might have heard it bantered about.

The first card she gets her hands on? The Nine of Pentacles... and T'Challa might notice that, as if created by magic, nine discs, a little smaller than standard plates, start hovering to the sides of the bike... four to one side, five to another.

"Grenade launcher, oui!" is replied to T'Challa, and the discs fly forward as if flung by unseen hands... the first two connecting with the explosive weapon itself -- though our bad guy manages to keep his grip -- followed by a third managing to conk the man upside the head, and a fourth knocking the weapon from his hands. Wisely, he ducks inside before the other five can strike him directly, though two manage to hit the side-view mirror and put a nice hole in /that./

"Next target?" she asks... before shrieking and ducking down behind the King as bullets start flying back their way. Apparantly, her little spectacle has brought them some unwanted attention!

Jayna has posed:
"Come on, Zan, they are getting AWAY!" shouts Jayna as she tries to drag her reluctant brother along. The shrieking from the carrier crate increases in volume as its occupant seems none too pleased about being jostled as she tries to run in black space age heels down the sidewalk. Her brother just moans again, and she throws up her hands in frustration, rounding on him.

Grabbing Zan by the chin, she looks into his eyes. "You and I BOTH agreed that we would come here and become superheroes, right?" He nods. "And we're here now, right?" He nods. "And there is a FIGHT going on RIGHT THERE, right?" she demands, pointing with the carrier in the direction of the explosions. Causing a howl from within the carrier.

"So are you just going to stand there and let me go there all on my own, or what?"

Zan sighs, and shake his head. "Fine, but I don't know what you want me to do."

The beaming smile from Jayna as Zan agrees was all she needed. She perks up and kisses her brother on the cheek. "Just do what you do best, ride along and watch me fly!"

She drops the carrier on the ground as she pulls open the door, and a furious blue monkey leaps out. It chitters at her, but it knows what it needs to do. Reaching around behind its back, it pulls out a giant bucket and holds it out.

Nearly giddy with excitement as her brother just sighs, Jayna holds out her fist to meet his. "Wonder Twin Powers, ACTIVATE!"

Ten years ago, they would have said that in concert, and Zan is still not sure why she does it, since it is TOTALLY NOT NECESSARY. Another day he might have had the energy to indulge her, but really, he just wants to get home.

"Form of, CALIFORNIA CONDOR!" Jayna leaps into the air as purple sparkles surround her, and her arms turn into giant beating wings.

Zan sighs. "Form of, bucket of water." He dissolves as if tears in the rain, caught by the pail carried in both hands by the blue monkey. Then, pail in hand, the monkey leaps up and wraps its tail around the talons of the condor as Jayna starts flapping furiously to catch an updrift and fly towards the bridge.

"THIS IS SO COOL!" screetches the condor.

Steve Rogers has posed:
The heroes attacking the chasing vehicles is drawing more of their fire away from the convoy. That doesn't stop the double back doors of one of the convoy's two vans from opening. A pair of men crouch in the back of the van, one peppering the vehicles behind them with a small submachine gun. The other man pulls the pin on a grenade and tosses it out the back. It blows up just a little too early, the lead chase vehicle zooming past the blast. He tosses out another grenade to bounce along the pavement. This time the vehicles swerve just in time as it goes off as they are passing alongside of it.

Those in the convoy definitely do not seem to be on the up and up either if they are using grenades.

People are fleeing the expanding fireball that used to be the gas station. The Kryptonian woman swoops down, trying to stifle the flames and protect the bridge.

The vehicle that Koga takes out turns sideways as its wheel is taken out, flipping and rolling over its side a few times until it comes to a stop. As he races forward, another grenade is thrown from the van, this one bouncing right in his path!

The convoy's lead vehicles reach the double ramp up to the bridge, veering over to take it while the two vans and SUV in back weave back and forth covering it. The second van rear door opens up, revealing a small machine gun mounted on a swivel. Really though, is any machine gun small? Especially when it points at you, which is what Shayera encounters as the gun aims up at the flying Hawkwoman, ready to fire!

The whole mess of combatants make it to the top of the ramp and onto the bridge. The lead SUV sees Natasha's motorcycle ahead and speeds up to ram her!

There is some slower traffic ahead. The truck tries to split the lanes, smashing between a car and a Lex-UV. The expensive LexCorp SUV flips off the road as it hits the barrier, landing on the bridge's edge. It seesaws, any shift of the weight possible enough to make it fall off the bridge!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
This is all relatively normal over. Natasha goes to casually report over into her comms as the lead SUV goes to ram her <<Lead convoy is hostile>> She goes to leap and flip up and off of the bike, letting it be rammed down underneath and the wheels flattened. She didn't care particularly much for it so she's not really even bothering to try and save. No sense getting into a tug of war.

Then hse goes to smoothly land on top of the SUV, and from her wrist goes to pop out a long blade. She would immediately go to start hacking through the cab of the vehicle, intent on going to saw her way through hopefully. If the men inside would start to shoot upand over, well then it would suck for the driver as he would be trying to get to the bridge.. Men firing wildly inside close quarters tended to not do well for control. Confirming a quick location ping for Koga as he would be zooming along and then a reply to Balm <<I suppose that you can stop them effectively.>> While going on with her making a hole.

So, Natasha goes to simply move to start cutting her way through the top of the cab, moving to call along <<Status update.>> That's sent to the spreado ut Avengers and SHIELD personnel, and anyone else that's tied into the comm net. Natasha trusts them, even the ones she hasn't worked with before. For the coming up on a century old spy..

This is but another day in the work week.

Shayera Thal has posed:
Hawk Woman pauses as the explosion sends a familiar Blue and Red shape hurtling away. She reaches up and taps the Justice League communicator and asks, <<Super Girl is that you? Everything alright?>> She doesn't have to much time to worry as the people start to shoot at her. This isn't Shayera's first time being shot at so she tucks her wings and swoops in a slight barrel roll to throw the gun fire off and speed her along and present a unpredictable target. Once she feels she is close enough she levels out and then takes that mace of hers in two hands and goes swooping in for the kill of one of the pursuit vehicle raising the sparking mace above her as she tries to bury the mace into one of the pursuit cars engines and take it out of the chase.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Balm steers traffic to a quickly fleeing line, looking to block off the other side to give the heroes room to fight, in spite of the blaring of horns and curses from oncoming traffic, she keeps her shields up -- until the SUV on the other side of the bridge flips over, and teeters over the edge.

Phoebe feels her eyes go wide behind the domino mask, the blue lenses flaring as she turns and drops her shields, and the magician turns, and bolts for the SUV.

A grapple line is fired and she dives off the edge of the bridge, swinging her legs before she sweeps upwards, firing her second grapple to one side of the car, swinging up beneath its hood and coming up to one of the bridge pylons, she engages the gun to hold and ties it off to stop the SUV from tumbling into the water!

<<Anyone with super-strength lend me a hand to flip this guy right-side-up? That's one I'm lacking!> she calls into the coms, taking a moment to catch her breath, <They fall into the water and Hypothermia's not gonna be fun!>

T'Challa has posed:
T'Challa listens to Marie, and is honking the horn of the bike as he speeds down the sidewalks, and then back out to the street as they are reloading. A smile crosses his mind as he remembered a movie they had shown him here in America.. "Great, Kid ! Don't get cocky!" and chuckles as he hits the speed again as they had fallen a little back as Gernades were harder to dodge then bullets. As he speeds up he looks at the swearving cars. Over the coms though only for Marie this time he says with a grin.. "We are going through. We need to stop this.. As he sees a dark form land on one of the SUVs he points.. Not that one." as he hits the gas. as the bike shoots forward.

Turning back to public, "We are pushing through... Coming up on you Widow." as they follow towards the ramp as well the suv swearving infront as he seems to be heading straight for it, but it swearve as he passes close enough to knock the mirror off his bike as it is hit by the two vehicles passing.

Past them he continues now following the lead vehicles with the more cars behind him. The ones in the back could not shoot him though now the ones in the front are starting to aim up.. Finally T'Challa speaks up again.. "Those would be a nice next target.. before they shot us please."

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga's armor fortunately agrees that grenades are bad. This time when he reaches back as he replaces the sword on his back, a staff grows out of his back seemingly.

Taking aim quickly, he bats the grenade back forwards to avoid any civilians getting caught in the crossfire then ducks down a bit as it goes off.

Roaring out of the explosion, Koga spins the staff around to have it like a jousting lance.

Then he guns it at the machine gun wielding vehicle. The mount's not the problem. It's the gun itself. And well, incredible durable staff plus motorcycle velocity plus limited super strength trying to stab it is probably going to make one hell of a mess in that thing no matter how he hits it. Afterwards he slows a bit to adjust his grip on the staff before starting back in pursuit.

Peter Parker has posed:
As the explosions and chaos and screaming ensue, the Neighborhood Spider-man finally makes his appearance. Swinging long and deep on each of his downswings, he moves fluidly along as he always does, his entire body extended out with each of the swings. He remains high above the convoy however, out of range of most of the weaponry. He is easily able to keep pace as they move and as the other heroes toil with stopping it. Instead, he is watching, analyzing.

There is a pattern to this attack, and this movement. Elements of the convoy which have not yet engaged. It operates like a pack, and as of yet there is no signs of the alpha. When facing down a pack, one must always know where the alpha is. That is who you must account for at all times.

And then he sees it, and he lets loose a yelp of triumph. He twists his body to change direction mid-swing and starts descending down towards the rest of the melee, his attention focused on the truck. And a grin appears beneath his mask.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
<<Grenade launcher new... neutron... Grenade launcher down, Madame!>> comes the very French-accented report that the Widow had asked for, the floating discs weaving their way through cars and heroes alike to return to their mistress. Although only about six of the original nine make it back, as three of the discs are shattered by the incoming gunfire.

T'Challa's praise, meanwhile, leaves her grinning behind the helmet. Positive praise is always a good thing -- even if she was a little worried about putting her abilities on display in front of her teacher. It's good to know that he isn't among those who hate and fear her kind!

There's a nod as T'Challa points out the friendly on the SUV's roof, and Marie holds on a little tighter to her driver as the bike speeds and swerves along - and when the next targets are identified? She straightens up a bit so that she can see over T'Challa's helmet. "Oui!" she declares, sending her remaining discs out to attack, three sets of two, each set going in a different direction. One gunman is hit squarely in the nose. That's going to leave a mark! A second manages to shatter the first disk coming, but the second smacks the pistol out of his hand before he can fire another shot. The third set actually ends up /inside/ one of the enemy vehicles, pinballing from one surface to another. People (the bad ones!) screaming, glass cracking, and the car starting to steer a bit wildly!

Steve Rogers has posed:
The pickup's rear window slides open so a man in the passenger seat can stick a handgun out at the civilian-clothed Steve Rogers. He spots it just in time, spinning to pull up his shield as the man fires. The bullet ricochets back into the truck, hitting the gunman in the shoulder.

Meanwhile the man with the pistol who fell into the bed of the truck is just starting to sit up and aim. Steve lands a kick to the gun, sending it flying, then spinning to deliver another to the man's head, knocking him unconscious. That leaves just the pickup's driver, and the man in the passenger seat who seems too focused on his bullet to try to fight.

<< Making my way forward,>> Captain America says into comms as he backs up to the tailgate of the truck. He measures the distance to a sedan in the pursuing fleet, just ahead of the pickup. Steve pushes off the tailgate as he sprints forward, foot hitting the roof of the pickup to launch himself through the air. He lands on the sedan, his shield slamming down into the roof for a grip to keep himself from falling off.

The men in the car all jump at the clatter on the roof and that shield slamming down through the metal. The shield pulls back out and they start firing wildly only to have their bullets ricocheted back doiwn. "Stop! Stop!" one of them yells, but not before the driver takes a bullet in his thigh, causing him to swerve eratically.

Steve grabs hold of the hole in the roof made by his shield to hang on, and slams his shield into the roof three times, then tears up the resulting flap of metal. He grabs the man in the passenger seat, yanking him through the hole and tossing him backwards. The man's back hits the windshield of the pickup that Cap had jumped from. It swerves and crashes into the bridge's middle barrier between traffic, taking it out of the fight.

Jayna has posed:
Soaring high above the calamity, Jayna whoops in delight, although it sounds more like a screech. She allows her enormous wingspan to keep her on the wind currents, her excellent avian vision focused on the trouble below. She spots an SUV hanging over the size, and dives into action.

She is quite sure that her worrywort brother is probably quivering in his bucket right about now, but the worst thing that could happen to him is spilling out into more water, right? She pulls up from her dize just as she approaches the side of the bridge and flaps HARD with those wings, propelling herself backwards away from the bridge. The tremendous gust of wind from the giant sized version of the already giant california condor blasts the SUV with enough force to push it backwards, safely onto the bridge.

She bets no one expected a giant purple bird to start saving people at a bridge today. She has this hero stuff DOWN!.

Steve Rogers has posed:
The pursuing vehicles are taking hits, three of them disabled, leaving two sedans plus the one that Steve Rogers is clinging to. Meanwhile the convoy are still all driving, though Natasha and Maria are tearing away at the front SUV.

Another grenade is tossed out, and Cap has to hang on tight as his car swerves to avoid it. The machinegun is destroyed now, though the men inside open fire with handguns. The two vans, plus the trailing SUV are still providing an effective screen for the truck.

However, those in the truck must be worried. Because the back door of the truck rolls up. If seeing the van's machinegun was alarming, seeing the rotary cannon mounted in the back of the truck is downright scary. It's the kind of gun that a helicopter might use.

It opens fire on the sedan that Cap is on top of. He holds up his shield deflecting the rounds that would have hit him, though they hit his shield hard enough to make his body shutter. The cannon rounds shred the car, tires blowing out and the engine flaming. Cap jumps off, having to leap this time with no start. He just manages to reach the bump of the convoy's trailing SUV, his hand on it while he's being dragged. He gets his shield beneath his body, sparks flying as the vibranium drags across the pavement.

The rotary cannon looks for new targets!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The response tone from Natasha is curt <<Appreciated.>> She speaks back in French. Parisian accent. There's not much emotion behind it, but Natasha rarely expresses any. With the primary weapon of the vehicle disabled, Natasha has now managed to cut her way through the roof and snap it open like a tin can. She goes to rend the roof up and off, snapping it away. This has bullets fly up and out of it as she ducks back and away. One of them goes to graze over her shoulder. Her kevlar can take it, but a heavy rifle is still going to break something. That thing broken is her shoulder, it snapping out of position. Two more shots go through the air that she barely dodges. The men are trained, and have had at least a few seconds to brace themselves even with Marie's excellent work on the primary weapon.
Another automagic weapon shot at close range hits her stomach, then another one under her ribs. Another ricochets off her cheek, spanging away.
That's all teh time they'll have for as Natasha goes for the practical route and simply fires her WIdow's bites into the vehicle. They're in a high speed chase, civilians are at risk. So the three men inside the vehicle are quickly incapacitated and left unconscious in it. And then Natasha goes to just as smoothly land in the passenger seat,s hove the man in the driver's seat to the bcak, and hit on the brakes to move the vehicle out of the way and to the side out of the way of the rest.

All of this in about ten seconds.

<<Vehicle secured>>

Peter Parker has posed:
The appearance of the rotary canon confirms what the blue and red spider had already suspected. "The alpha," he murmurs to himself as he watches it sow chaos among the field of heroes. A plan fixed in his mind, he dives down on his next swing, changing his angular momentum to come up towards the truck as fast as he can from above while the canon itself is trained on the other heroes.

A Spider swings into the truck, and within a few seconds bodies start flying out, one by one. One hits the pavement of the bridge to be rolled over by one of its pursuing companions while another misses the bridge entirely, falling into the river down below. After less than 10 seconds, the Spider fires a strand of webbing out at one of the bridge supports and hops out, twisting backwards to fire a few gobs of wedding at the no longer manned cannon mount and trigger. The cannon continues its furious rate of fire straight out the back as the Spider swings out from the bridge, and then back, a carefully calculated intercept course.

Sliding beneath the truck, for a moment the Spider disappears and then the truck itself shifts heavily to the side.

A car is smashed off the bridge as the truck side swipes it before taking off into the air, swinging pendulously away from the bridge once more, only to start a return.

The villainous sedans seem to have another obstacle to account for as their own cannon starts firing incessantly at them, their truck hold aloft in one hand by the Webhead, twisting and turning to aim the truck and the cannon by extension down at the bad guys as he swings back and forth.

There is not much precision in the manuever, as the truck is not exactly a well calibrated weapon, and so the spray of gunfire runs haphazardly across the lanes of traffic, impacting criminal and civilian cars alike.

Koga Miura has posed:
Small arms fire is no big problem for Ryu Senshi. It's the bigger stuff that is. So he takes a few hits from smaller arms that simply ping off of his tougher armor. Even his bike isn't doing more than pinging from those.

Leaning to the side, he guns it to get around the van and almost ends up side swiped before he brakes to avoid it and guns it again. Tires squeal as he burns out a little.

The staff is rammed through the driver side as he comes up alongside it, breaking glass and knocking out the driver himself before he zooms along, trusting that a knocked out driver will at least ensure one less vehicle.

That's when he sees the sparks from Cap's shield and the rotary cannon as he guns his bike to get up closer, sticking out the staff for Steve to give an alternative. "Need a lift, Captain?"

He comments on the coms, <We have a bigger gun in play.> Then Spidey's doing his thing. And that has him comment, <Anyone know some guy who shoots webs?>

T'Challa has posed:
T'Challa is driving keeping up behind the lead vehicle watching it and keeping in track with it. What he doesn't see it the truck behind shooting though thankfully neither one is hit there is a lound.. 'Ding' as the bike gets hit. T'Challa tries to hold on to it, falling back a bit more from the lead he swears a bit in Xhosa as the front is getting way more wabbly. "Whatever your going to do... do it quickly." is all he can say as he is so focused on trying to keep the bike going and turning, and moving eraticly as to keep it from turning the wheel to much and them flipping over which would be bad.

The smell of gas is in the air as T'Challa looks down feeling the wet on his foot just now realising. "Hold on to me, and when we hit cover your eyes." is all he can say as he turns his wheel hard, pulling out a dagger as he turns around grabbing ahold of Marie as the Black Panther suit would come up around him. The bike tilts forward going from speeding to stoped as like a catapult the two are thrown.

Throwing a single dagger he hits his own bike, turning it into a firey explosion infront of one of the following trucks then landing on his back. What cap did with his shield BP does with his suit though he takes a bit of a beating inside and the alarms go off of warnings not ment to be used like this. He Drags thankfully the suit covering the gas soaked foot, he makes sure he takes all the impact as he holds Marie securily in place above him. He was out of the fight though as he slid to a stop and the others passed them T'Challa would flip over, covering Marie with the suit incase anyone wanted to take pop shots as they pass the bullets impacting though the Panther would not move as the sound of metal heavly impacting metal one might hear the hiss of T'Challa as even if he was in Vibranium it still hurt like a son of a gun.

Shayera Thal has posed:
Once Hawk Woman has made sure the vehicle is stopped, she beats those large eagle wings and takes off and then begin to give her winged pursuit again. Of course when one deaths from aboves a car they usually become the primary target and that rotary cannon begins to tear up the pavement towards Shayera. She takes flight at the last moment as the gun shreds the vehicle already destroyed engine and continues to track her as she swoops and dives through the air.

Thankfully for her the friendly neighborhood web head deals with that and she is able to go on the offense. She regains her aerial stability and then grips that power mace in hand and glides down along side one of the Sedans and then prepares to swing her mace at it. However the window rolls down and a uzi poke its barrel out. Time slows fo her as she brings her wings out and comes to a halt that throws off her aerial balance and causes her to hit the pavement and skid along the ground slam into a car putting a serious dent into the drives hood. She groans for a moment as her head swims for a bit and then pulls herself up, the drive for her credit asks. "Lady you alright?"
Hawk Woman stands up and grumbles. "Just find." She says through gritted teeth before taking flight again.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe, in her Balm get-up, gives a brief smile at the massive vulture as it swings in with aid to the people in the Lex-UV.

She swings herself down to give a little more -OOMPH- and the car is flipped back onto the bridge with the alarm suddenly deciding to go off, adding to the cacaphony of sounds on the bridge about them.

And Phoebe exhales, the AR on her mask alerting her to the rotary cannon makes its appearance, and she brings up her shields again, blocking ordinance from hitting the newly saved LexUV, which takes off in the other direction!

And beneath her breath, Balm gives a curse, ducking fire from the websling-stuck truck in order to make a diving leap herself, swinging back up, and then crashing onto one of the sedans, speeding along. She hits the hood hard, cracking the windshield, and she nearly breaks off one of the wipers to hang on as the wind from the vehicles push her hood back.

She opesn her eyes wide, nd raises her hand as one of the eight-pointed stars appear on the hood of the leading sedan, and then Phoebe braces, and opens a portal.

It's JUST big enough for the car to speed through, a shimmering mess of rose-gold magic that zips car and mage out of existence --

Only to open up in front of the other car, near instantaneous. The cars strikign almost head-on at matching speeds.

Balm is thrown off the wreckage, holding her breath, flipping herself around in the air and landing on her knees, sparks from the re-enforced armor kicking up on the road!

Jayna has posed:
There is a lot going on and quickly Jayna is over whelmed by all of it. She twirls around, Gleek managing somehow to keep the bucket containing her brother upright to avoid dumping him into the Hudson, and then whirls back around towards the bridge. From her vantage point she gets ready to reengage, but then sees...all kinds of crazyiness going on. Bullets and grenades flying everywhere. She is eager to be a superhero, but not THAT eager.

She continues to fly along above the scene, waiting to find a spot where she can dive back into action. But waiting on the right moment. She does NOT want to have to deal with Zan making fun of her if she gets shot!

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
As Marie's set of disks dissipate into the ether as she releases the summon, letting her fingers sail around for another card -- though T'Challa gives her warning, and the bike starts to lose control shortly after... so rather than summoning her next card, she withdraws her hand from the pouch and instead grabs onto T'Challa with both arms, rather than the one she'd been using before.

"I will!" she replies to T'Challa as she gets her commands from the King. There's no attack from her this time, as she needed both hands to hang on -- and her eyes were shut shortly after they ended up flying into the air. Landing with a thud, she trusts the man who's protecting her to continue doing so -- there's going to be more bruises, surely, but it's better than bullet wounds, broken bones, or anything else like that.

"...let me know when I can open my eyes again!" ...though she's not sure if she wants to.

Steve Rogers has posed:
The heroics of Koga, Shayera, Natasha and others take out a number of the vehicles, while Balm causes a pretty spectacular collision. Thankfully for those combatants they had airbags, so they'll still be alive and kicking when the police, evident as distant red and blue lights closing in, arrive to take them in hand.

Other vehicles are mowed down by the rotary cannon in the wildly swinging truck. Cap swings onto the back of Koga's bike as he pulls along side. Moments later, a row of shells scorch the ground just beside them, near enough that Cap is pulling his shield in front of Koga though only a single round is near enough to be deflected. "Spider-Man, what are you doing!" Cap shouts as they are nearly gunned down.

Then there's a loud noise sort of like a jet engine that descends from the sky. And then suddenly there are tear gas canisters bouncing on the pavement and sending up clouds of god-awful gas that make those affected cough and their eyes water.

Jayna gets hit from above by something hard, enough to send her careening downwards though she'll be able to pull up to slow the fall before hitting the bridge.

Metallic wings slice through Spider-Man's webs, sending the Queens hero and the suspended truck falling to the ground. Under the cover of the gas cloud, the Vulture drops down, wings spread wide as he lands at the back of the truck. He grabs hold of a box inside with his feet and then his wings kick into high gear and he's jetting into the sky. A cloud of flares and chaff and flashbangs drop away beneath him to cover his escape with the truck's cargo.

As the fireworks end and the gas starts to dissipate, the heros find themselves in control of the battlefield, but unsure just yet what the fight itself was about. Mysteries that may have to be uncovered in the coming days.

Peter Parker has posed:
Life is great for the Wallcrawler as he hoists the cannon truck, spraying the scene with bullets and taking out bad guys galore, laughing as he does it.

And then the line is sliced right out from under him. The truck and the Webslinger go careening down onto the bridge with a crunch. The truck bounces once and then lands on top of Spider-man and both slide a few feet, sparks flying until they come to a stop.

The Vulture retrieves his prize and then as he flaps away the entire truck lifts up, propelled in a tremendous arc up and several hundred feet away to come crashing down into the river. A battered and slightly crushed Spider-man looks up at him. "Adrian, what the HELL?" he calls at the retreating villain.

Then he seems to notice Captain America looking at him with a bit of a perturbed expression on his face, and he just shrugs. "Stopping the bad guys, Cap. Same thing you were trying to do, just better."

And with that, he fires off a strand of webbing and lifts himself up from the bridge, swinging his way back to the city.

Shayera Thal has posed:
Shayera comes in for a land and just in time to see the Vulture fly off in the distance. She grips her mace and consider trying to go after him but as the ranking Justice League member here she is going to have to do clean up. "Next time.." She whispers under her breath and then glances in on the truck and the kid in the pajama and gives a nod to him. "Good job kid.." She says before she sends the data of who she encountered to Batman and Jo'on on the watch tower. Shayera begins to help out as best she can with the fault of out the car chase.

T'Challa has posed:
T'Challa smiles as he looks up the bullets stopping. "You may open your eyes now." he says standing silencing the warnings about his status he offers a hand to her to help her up. "You did well under pressure, I am glad to see I picked wll,." and chuckles a bit as he turns to look at the mess behind him, The suit is still on one shape, but the back is scrapped to the point where the metal is showing as well as several small metal disks that seem to be attached, "I think that was enough excerside for one day though. I have already called Okoye.. She is not happy with me taking you with me so forgive her if she seems grumpy." and grins a bit as if it wasn't her default.

With a nod to her he points to one of the safe areas for her to be picked up, as he goes back to check the damages hiself, and see what needed to be fixed or buried as he would help fund the repair bill for a few of the places. "Go now.. this part you do not need to see yet," knowing there might be a few burnt bodies back at the gas station. He would not take her to see that, but he would witness as it was his failure for not stopping them before they did it.

The suit fell back into his necklace as he slowly walked back to look at the damage, thankfull that the suit would cover up most of the bruises that covered his body from the impact and being thrown around in the suit, as while it was dang near invulernable he was not.

Koga Miura has posed:
Koga immediately starts to brake as the tear gas and other stuff takes out his vision. He can barely see around Cap's shield as he leans forward a bit to keep an eye on the road, nearly ending up wrecking a few times as he swerves this way and that. He even passes right by the truck, van, and all by the time he slows it down enough. He can't break too fast else he'll send himself and Cap flying, after all!

By the time he's done, and using the staff to help balance and break a bit, the entire thing is over.

Surprisingly he's breathing just fine. And he looks to the others about before giving a 'huh' sound.

<Dragon Den, contact local authorities and get the sake ready in case anyone needs it.> Then he speaks out loud towards Spider-man. "Kid, you just caused a high impact military weapon to nearly shoot us and it did take out who knows how many other bystanders possibly. Next time get on the truck and take the cannon or operator itself."

He puts the kickstand down before starting to look for injured he can help out, then comments over the comms, <Ryu Senshi to all hero friendlies, if you are injured we'll be sending the location of Dragon Den. I can offer some mystic healing at this time. Be warned you have to drink sake.>

Yep. He just said they have to drink sake.

Jayna has posed:
Feathers go flying as Jayna plummets towards the river in a tail spin. The blue monkey in her talon screeches in fear and the water in the bucket starts spilling out uncontrollably. All looks like it may be lost for our two heroes until a splash of water strikes the wing of the condor.

In a flash of purple the condor shifts, shrinking in size and assuming a streamlined look. The purple kingfisher dives with precision, its beak breaking the water tension with expertise as it descends into the deeps.

Leaving one bucket bopping along atop the river, and one VERY angry monkey shaking his blue fist in the air and jabbering incessantly.

And all Jayna can think about is how much she wants to do it again!

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Balm breathes hard a moment, her head tilting to the side as she catches her breath, and registers the lacerations from class and hot metal closing on her face, in plain sight, and then she reaches up to pull her hood back over her, hiding her face in shadow once more.

<So. You guys in New York *always* this lively with the bullets or did I just pick a special day?> she asks, breathlessly. <YO CAP can I get a selfie for the team back home?>

Steve Rogers has posed:
Between his eyes watering and the cloud of gas just plain blocking vision, Captain America isn't able to react to Vulture's arrival and theft before he's already lifting out of range. The pyrotechnics he drops further providing him cover.

Koga gets a pat on the shoulder as Cap climbs off the bike. "Appreciate your help, well done," Steve Rogers says to Koga. His gaze turns towards Spider-Man then. A small frown grows across Steve's face at the flippant response to the reckless behavior. Unlike Steve's past experiences with the easy-going young hero whose sense of responsibility for others had impressed Steve.

As Spider-Man swings away, Steve turns to the other heroes. "Fine job, everyone. This wasn't an easy mission, especially with the kind of firepower they employed. I hope we were able to keep serious injuries from any civilians," he says.

He looks towards Balm and gives a shrug. "Brooklyn can be kind of a rough place, at least it was in my day."

       -----------------------------------

And off in a distant location, eyes watch the ending play out through the bridge's hacked traffic cameras. The entire fight was easy enough to follow with today's preponderance of cameras, plus a few drones keeping over watch.

"It appears I was right to keep Vulture on retainer for just such a situation," the watcher says to himself. His gaze at the screens turns to a glare as he watches the remnants of the attacking mercenaries get cuffed by the NYPD as they arrive on the scene.

"A case of betrayal that will not go unpunished, my old associate," the figure says towards whomever sent the mercenaries. "Paid back, and with interest."
