Chillin' at the Zoo
Date of Scene: 14 February 2023
Location: Central Park Zoo
Synopsis: A group of random strangers meet at a Zoo and chat about Chimeras and other weird stuff.
Cast of Characters: Megan Gwynn, Natasha Irons, Ash Williams, Sharon Smith, Sho Oto

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Oh yay, it's the zoo! And at least this time, there are no run away animals or possessed critters, or y'know, talking gorillas trying to take over, because there's ALWAYS something weird happening at the Zoo!

Nope, it's just a normal average day at the Zoo, and Megan is happy to check out the latest wild cat exhibit, featuring some large snow leopards. Of course she arrived early in the morning, knowing that's the best time to catch the best stuff. And it's also a time with fewer people around so double yay!

She presses her nose against the glass pane, waiting to see if she can catch a glimpse of the big predatory cats..

Natasha Irons has posed:
Hey big cats are AWESOME! And Natasha Iron for one likes checking out the lions and the tigers herself, but those cats are currently doing what most large cats do. Laying in the sun and just enjoying themselves. So she has decided to check out the Snow Leopards.

With her suit in stand by mode and currently hidden via the nanomolecuar weave she is at least read if some weird super villain tries to steal Gorillas, here is hope they don't.

Walking up to the exhibit she pauses as she notices Megan with her face pressed to the bane getting her to laugh softly before she leans on the railing and watches the beautiful snow leopards as they enjoy their habita. "Pretty cool cats, right?" She says idly to Megan.

Ash Williams has posed:
Some crackpot on the internet said that one of the wild boars in the African exhibit had been speaking human language, possibly some sort of Sumerian dialect. Ash didn't know a Sumerian from a sanitary napkin, but he does know that ancient middle eastern dialects are an unusual behavior trait for your average jungle pig.

But he'd spent twenty minutes at their enclosure trying to start up a conversation and nothing. No glowing eyes, no big piggy faces spinning around. Can their heads even spin around like that, with those big jumbo tree trunk necks? Man, that'd be something to see. Ash is almost disappointed there's no sign of demon or Deadite activity.

Oh, well, time to head over to the big cats. Ladies love the big cats, after all, there's probably a single Mom with a rotten teenager he can flirt with, maybe take her down the road to Shoney's and get a big plate of flapjacks. In Ash's experience, nothing made a lady more convivial company than getting her belly full of carbs and butter and syrup.

From the pancakes. Mostly.

He has a soda in his large metallic right-hand, sipping through a straw as he sidles up, "I fought a tiger once. Well, it had a tiger's head, but the body was more like a cow-dog sort of thing. It even had an udder. But I didn't milk it, not once, and anyone who says otherwise is a damned liar."

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith recognized Megan from the school, either that or she keen to randomly grabbing people at cat exhibits. Two pale hands quickly clutched her shoulders to pull her back a few inches away from the glass. "Be careful, they will eat you." she warned, all too knowingly about the mind of big cats.

Sharon was far less recognizable, mostly because she rarely wandered about in human form. Usually, she was in the form of a small black cat, wandering around the X school's grounds.

She had an odd style to her, with bright purple hair and an outfit that looked like she'd fallen in a clothes hamper and left with anything that fit. She wore an odd collection of clothes in different sizes with entirely unmatched colors. A hat topped the ensemble, barely able to contain purple hair, but giving that feeling that she was at least warm.

She turned mid warning to look off at Ash "A tiger would eat you." she added in a similar theme as before.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks as she sees some big cats stepping out, lounging in the sun. With Spring just around the corner, they're getting more sun these days, and isn't it glorious? She nods to Natasha and flashes her a cheerful smile. "Yeah, they're really something! I know someone who like, lived with Wild Cats for years, but to see them in real life, this is amazing! I mean..Theyr'e kinda big and scary, but they sure do sleep alot, don't they?"

When Ash mentions having fought a tiger headed..Thing..Megan blinks at him curiously. "Tiger's head? What about the rest of him? What the heck is a cow dog? That sounds nuts! Sooo, some kinda weird Chimera monster?" she makes a face at that, trying to figure that one out.

Then there's Sharon, a girl she knows in passing from the institute, but has not really spoken with at length. still she knows her name at least, and she smiles and waves at her, but blinks at the warning, taking a step back. "Oh, are they really that dangerous? Do ya think they'd eat a whole human if they fell in there?" she bites her lip at the thought.

Sho Oto has posed:
There's an odder one than Ash if you have mystical senses hanging around. If not, well, the guy looks a bit homeless and under the usual clientele of the zoo as he leans on the enclosure's railing. He looks over at the group, then back at the enclosure itself.

Sho is mostly there to see the tigers himself. A wistful smile is on his face, too, one like he's remembering good times as he sips at a drink in hand.

The comments have him looking over, "Perhaps not a chimera, but something else. A lot more than just them out there, and some in asian countries have been known to be considered quite an amalgam of beings. Ganesha, for example, has the head of an elephant and is a deity."

Natasha Irons has posed:
Natasha looks over at Ash when he talks and just tries to analyze that statement. "Uh Huh.." Is all she manage to get out after a moment then she looks at him real closely. "Didn't I see you in the boar enclosure?" She thought he was part of the zoo staff to be honest the way he dressed.

She turns to Megan again and smiles a bit, "Yeah when I was little my father would take us to the zoo. Loved looking at the tigers, they were beautiful to behold when you got to see the moving and actually playing with one another." She looks the enclosure as one lazily yawns showing that mouth full of razor sharp teeth before it looks around at all the people with a obvious 'What' expression. Natasha just smirks, "Now they seem very content.." Natasha continues

Sharon gets another look, she kind of notes the odd collection of clothing but doesn't say anything, she isn't going to critize someone over how they dress.

Ash Williams has posed:
Ash Williams shrugs at the discussion of chimera, "I dunno what a chimera is exactly. Sounds like one of those fancy new phones or a video game or something. I don't read magic books, it's bad for your brain and your soul and...everything, really. I mean, I guess, unless you're a wizard. Which I ain't."

He turns and nods, "Yeah, I thought one of the boars might be possessed, but I think that kid who posted about it online was just trippin' sweet balls on some of the brain candy. Must be the good shit."

He points a metal finger at Sho, 'Yeah, the elephant guy. I saw a statue of him once when they got a Deadite infestation in New Delhi. Jesus, India is way too hot to have food that spicy."

Sho Oto has posed:
Sho rolls his eyes, commenting to Ash, "That is why they have it usually. Because it takes their mind off of the heat."

He looks at the ladies, then back at the enclosure. He does look carefully at Sharon before turning back to look at the enclosure. "Generally unless they are hungry, they tend to be pretty peaceful. Just don't throw something at them or such."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn arches a brow at the newcomer, "Deity, huh? Why would someone worship such a weird looking creature..?" She blinks slowly at Natasha as she talks about a boar enclosure, and then there's talk of possessions which causes her to frown, shivering a bit as she hugs her arms.

"Ugh, possessions are the worst. Been there, done that. Not fun.." actually she looks pretty shaken up about..Something to that effect. Ash is given a nervous smile and shrug. "Chimera is a creature that's a mash-up of several different animals. And yeah, magic can be scary if you dunno what you're doing. I would know." she grimaces at a thought, shaking her head.

"Hmm, speaking of possessions..Are you sure it was just some kid on acid? Could have been some real magic mojo.." her frown deepens at a thought.

Sho is given a longer look than the others, seemingly peering at something about him, frown deepening. "Huh..Speaking of..Are you...Okay..?" Megan seems oddly concerned for the stranger. Even as it causes her to shiver some more.

Natasha Irons has posed:
The talk of magic, possession and those other supernatural crap goes a little over Miss Iron's head, give her something technological anyday of the week over mystical mumbo jumbo. "I've heard of some pretty weird stuff going on but never anything about deadites or possession." She doesn't recall any New Delhi incident either so the man is either crazy, in which case she kind of wants to see how far the rabbit hole goes, or he is stone cold serious and that is ever worse.

She looks back to the cats in the enclosure for a moment and watches them for a bit before losing interest and focusing back on Ash. "Soooo aside from a possessed boar, that the only reason you came to the zoo?" She does note the metal hand and tilts her head at it for a moment, crude but effective.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith tilted her head to consider. "I feel they would play with it first, keep it as a pet, and then eat it" she decided with a look of introspection. She even cupped her chin as she imagined the scenario. "Maybe they are not hungry yet." She finally decided.

"Content, or waiting..." she eerily reasoned over Natasha's words. "Where would they go first, if we let them out?" she speculated releasing large cats into the wild. She even glanced in the general direction of the Zoo entrance as she speculated, but was brought back to the real world from her small, imaginitive one as she asked. "How many animals before it is Chimera?" she asked philisophically.

Ash Williams has posed:
Ash Williams snorts at Sho, "That's like pouring lemon juice on yourself to distract from all your papercuts. Not my kind of kinky. I can handle a big bad dump truck full of pain, but I ain't doin' it to myself for fun."

When Megan mentions experience with possessions, he perks up "Me, too! Ugh, I hate it. That's how I lost this sucker! Had to cut it off myself to get the demon infection out," he says, holding up his metal hand and making a thumbs up. "I didn't see any signs. None of 'em tried to eat me. Lucky for them."

To Natasha, he grins, "I mean, it's the main reason. I can't afford much in the way of fancy fun, but S-mart's star employee can afford a day pass to the zoo. Plus, sometimes you catch the monkeys doin' it."

Sho Oto has posed:
Looking at Megan, Sho seems to tilt his head a little. "Sure, why?"

Then it clicks and he gets an 'oh' expression on his face. "Not your typical possession. Long story."

He takes a sip of his drink again, looking at Megan carefully. Maybe a little pointedly.

Natasha Irons has posed:
Sharon gets kind of a eye before she smiles and looks at it. "Well honestly I think it might be bored, if all I had to do was sit around and bed fed while being gawked at by zoo goers I be bored out of my mind." She sighs softly, "But some of these tigers have been born knowing nothing but the contents of these cages and wouldn't last long in the wild, its the wild ones are the most beautiful I think." Speaking from experience maybe.

She looks at Ash with a rather serious expression. "You would be surprised what you could make with stuff at S-Mart if you have a little know how and ingenuity behind it. You know S-Mart actually sells silver bullets and machetes? Everything you need to kill a vampire and a werewolf if you go by those horror tropes."

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith taps her fingertips together. "Not in the wild. In the city! I wonder where their noses would take them." she stated, sheepishly smiling at her own speculation. "Maybe... the movies" she decided, but folded her hands over her stomach as she reasoned more appropraitely. "Or the park I suppose." she decided with some practicality.

Ash Williams has posed:
Ash Williams looks at Natasha and gives a serious nod in return, "Ma'am, I'm the housewares manager for an S-Mart. I can assure you, I know every item in stock. I might not be able to pronounce them all, but pronunciation is overrated," he says with a bit of a rueful mutter. "But a lot of my gear comes straight off the shelves. Employee discount for the win."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn grimaces at Sharon, "I think wild animals belong in the wild..It's kinda sad that they're all caged up here but I guess some of them have nowhere else to go.." She shrugs, "I mean, I guess more than one animal is a Chimera?"

As Ash holds up his metallic hand she frowns, peering at it, making a face. "Gee, that's totally not cool. Too bad you didn't gimme a call, there a gentler ways to deal with a possession."

As for Sho's response, Megan arches a quizzical brow at him. "Heh, I guess no possession is 'typical' is it."

Sho Oto has posed:
Sho gives a shake of his head, "A chimera is an alchemical magically created monster usually. Sometimes science. Science ones are the worse 'cause they just don't get it right and usually fall apart while you're dealing with them."

He looks to Megan and shrugs, "Probably not. In my case, however, I recommend just looking the other way in regards to it. I've done good with it a lot."

Natasha Irons has posed:
Even with all the technology produced by Ironworks shopping on a budget is something she can get behind. She wasn't always Government funded and had to make do with what she can buy or scavenge and with a degree in robotics engineer, computer engineering and a genius level intellect, a few of those common items at S-Mart can make pretty hand gadgets and gizmo. Maybe not on the level of Stark Tech but it was enough for the family to get its start as super heroes. "Kick ass..." She smiles and gives a nod to Ash. "Dig the hand too, make it yourself?"

The subject of possession does get her momentary attention, she not personally had to deal with it but she has heard stories of people who have and heard it is rather unpleasant. "There any good way to deal with possession or mind control aside from tin foil hats?" Never really looked into the application of tinfoilk as psychic barrier, but she heard the rumors.

Ash Williams has posed:
Ash Williams chuckles at Megan, "I appreciate the advice, baby, but you weren't even born when I lost this sucker and, honestly, I was a little busy trying to keep it from stabbing me in the face. And burning me alive. And cutting my head off. And then even after I cut it off, I still had to..."

"Look, regular demons may solve easier, but Deadites ain't regular demons. They're like demons on crack. Like 80s hardcore crack, too, not the watered down stuff. Uh, not that I know what crack feels like. I got pretty wild back in my day, but not THAT wild."

"Believe me, I'm always happy to have help fightin' the forces of Evil and their hellish crusade," he says. "I mostly just use, like, shotguns and chainsaws. But once a Deadite swallows yer soul, you're already dead. Most of the time. I ain't exactly normal - my kindergarten teacher said it first and she was right."

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith blinked with late surprise. "S-Mart is not Stark?" she asked, as if having her mind blown by surprise trivia. The purple haired girl went to complete silence and stared down at her hands as she briefly re-considered her whole life now that she knew the S in S-Mart didn't stand for Stark.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn laughs nervously at Ash's response. "Deadites huh. Never heard of em. Sounds kinda creepy.." Natasha is given a smirk and shrug, "Well actually, de-possessions happen to be my specialty, although sometimes it can get..Messy.." she makes a face.

Natasha Irons has posed:
Natasha is about to say something about the S then stops and pauses. "What does the S stand for?" She cups her chin in thought and you can see the wheel turning in her head as she debates exactly what the S might stand for. "Stuff?" She shrugs her shoulders and looks at Ash to confirm this, after all he works there.

Ash Williams has posed:
Ash Williams shrugs, "I dunno. I think it probably said something about it in the employee manual, but I read that sucker a looooooooooong long time ago. Those brain cells are long gone, daddio."

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith intertwined her fingers, the thoughtful expression still on her face as she decided. "I have to think." she said as she wandered off. Was she really going to leave and speculate the origin of the S in S-Mart? It was hard to say with absolute positivity, but she was already wandering off regardless.
