Cast of Characters: Marie-Ange Colbert, Sharon Smith

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie-Ange Colbert doesn't come for meals in the Mansion proper as often as she did when she was attending high school here, what with her little apartment in the college dorms having a more than capable kitchen, but like many others when they want to be more social and involved with the rest of the school, the redhead still does make her presence felt in the main building when she can.

She's had enough of being alone, being with people she likes? It's much, much better.

Granted, alone is the name of the game at the moment as she sits at one of the dining tables, a plate in front of her containing pancakes, bacon, and eggs while a cup to the side has been filled with orange juice. She was a little late for breakfast /proper/, with most students already in their classes for the day, but her own don't start until a bit later. She's dressed pretty casually, a flowy white blouse and a black, knee-length skirt with black flats to match. Her hair's worn loose today, the red locks hanging straight as usual.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith sat proudly upon one of the huge, oval dining tables. A basket of fries waiting beside her. It was one of those rare moments where Catseye was out of her fluffy shell and in human form. Her outfit was more than casual. She wore a mess of mixed clothes. It looked like she'd just taken a nose dive into a clothes hamper and emerged with anything that remotely fit. It was doubtful much, if any of the ensemble was made up of clothes she actually owned, considering the way half of it hung poorly off her small frame. Was that one of Marie's socks?

"French Friiiieeess!" Catseye proudly bellowed, waving a fist full of crisp potato wedges in greeting to the only other person in the dining hall. It wasn't the healthiest or stereotypical of breakfast choices, but the purple haired woman seemed very happy about her choice.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Was it one of Marie's socks? ... probably, if the French girl had to guess. Sharon was a friend, though, and they had arrived at the school at nearly the same time, so Marie was used to a thing or two of hers going missing every now and then. She wouldn't complain, especially if the girl seemed happy!

Sharon does get a smile from Marie, and a wave of dainty fingers back in her direction. "They /are/ most delicious, are they not?" she asks with a little grin. While Marie didn't quite get while they were called French Fries, not having been invented in France, she had developed a taste for them while working at the local shake shop a couple years back. "How are you feeling today, hmm? Have any grand adventures planned?"

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith might have been the reason there was always that one or two articles of clothing missing every time they were sent down the laundry shoot. It seemed more logical than a hungry washing machine that spontaniously ate clothes. The purple haired mutant seemed to recognize Marie's lingering gaze, using her foot to push the basket of fries mildly in her direction as a distraction. "They are the best. Try!" she commanded.

"I will go swimming in the lake" she claimed, despite the fridged weather. "Catch a fish... emerge with ice powers." she boasted, holding her hand out in claw like fashion. Luckily, there were no claws on her human fingers, and her nails were too neatly trimmed to prove much of a threat on their own.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie wasn't the type to reject an offer in most cases. She was too polite. It's one of the reasons that she was easily pushed around, although not too many really took advantage of it around here. Not even Jennifer, though the redhead used to follow the blonde around like a lost puppy. So she's not about to reject the offer of potato-y goodness to add to her meal, reaching for the basket and withdrawing a couple fries. "Merci beaucoup, Sharon!" she replies, before popping them into her mouth and making happy chewing sounds. They /are/ the best.

Once she's swallowed, she looks back at Sharon, then outside, then back to the girl again. "Are... you sure that is a wise idea? I do not think I would attempt to swim in such weather... if I wanted a fish today, I think I would go hunting in the kitchen, instead. Although, I'm not sure if that would still grant ice powers." she admits with a little giggle, taking up her fork to grab another bite of her own food.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith smiled "Beaucoup!" she parroted, simply guessing what the word might have meant, but it was a fair to assume the woman had next to no clue. The trick seemed to say anything with confidence, regardless of the meaning.

Her head tilted as she considered weather her plan was a wise on her not. "No." she decided, clapping her hands together. "Are you coming?" she asked, despite having admitted it was a horrible idea seconds earlier. She even pushed herself off of the table, bringing herself one step closer to make the mad dash through snow and ice.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
The attempt at French makes Marie smile a bit brighter. She likes hearing others use her first language, even if they might not realize what it means. Like that song that includes 'Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi'. Definitely, Marie figures, the singers didn't know the meaning! "Tres bien, Sharon!" she compliments, clapping her hands.

"Oh, good." is the first reaction that comes with the 'no', another forkful of food being shoveled into her mouth. Of course, /then/ Sharon's getting up and asking if Marie's coming, and, well. It causes an awkwardly sudden swallow that's accompanied by juice to help it go down without choking too much.

She /was/ going to finish her breakfast. But, someone should probably be there to make sure Sharon gets out of the lake, too. "Ah... let me grab a coat first, then I will accompany you if you wish to go out, oui?" she offers. For someone who's as scrawny as Marie, coats in the winter are a must!

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith bounced on her toes, hoping the extra energy was enough to persuade Marie to come along. It wasn't a bad tactic. Sharon's enthusiasm was somewhat contageous, even if her plan was horribly thought out. She extended her hand in invitation.

Catseye buzzed her lips at the delay, or at least she tried to. Her actual response came more as a puff of air as she failed to keep her lips together. "You swim in a coat? It will become wet." she scoffed.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Oh!" The realization of exactly what Sharon wanted hits Marie. Eyes widedning. Her instincts say it's a bad idea. That she shouldn't do it. She'll get sick. She'll feel awful.

...but she doesn't want to disappoint Sharon, either, and saying no isn't really easy for Marie by any means. Inconvienincing /herself/ with sickness is preferable, so...

"...okay, if you really wish this. The coat will be for after," she clarifies, "Though I need to get a swimsuit, as well, if I am to go in the water. Alright?" she barters, offering a bit of a smile.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith 's eyes lit up "Ha Ha" she boasted in an almost trained attempt at laughing, or maybe it was her best evil laugh. She added an applause as she persuaded Marie to come along on her poor idea for an adventure. She'd already trotted halfway to the door before Marie came up with more delays.

The purple-haired girl's shoulders sagged with mild annoyance at the delay. "Your suit... will get wet." she warned matter-of-factly, but otherwise wasn't trying to talk her out of it. Instead she just waited impatiently. It seemed she was a bit *too* eager to go freeze her tail off.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"That's what they are made for!" Marie points out with a cheery laugh, standing up. She'll reheat her food later. "I'll be right back, oui? Try not to go without me!" Aaaand she's off!

She returns several minutes later, wrapped up in her longest and heaviest black coat, because underneath? There wasn't much that was going to keep her from the cold of the water and air outside. If Sharon's still there when she returns, she'll wave a hand towards the girl and adds, "Okay, mon amie; you are ready to go now?"

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith shook her head. "Silly" she claimed, sticking her tongue out for emphasis.

She was already by standing the doors closest to the lake by the time Marie returned. Frided air was already pouring in as the doors were wide open. "Yes. Mon Am-E" she said with a bounce. The mutant girl wasn't dressed for an acquatic adventure. She made the effort of pulling off a sock, giving the impression she would leave a trail of mismatched clothes from the school to the lake. Instead, she had a trick up her sleeve, shrinking down into the form of a small black cat, which leapt out of the pile of clothes and started on a mad dash toward the lake. The cat form was enough to bring some mild jealousy, since it seemed like a much warmer way to travel.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie lets out a little laugh when Sharon takes off -- it's a trick that the redhead's definitely seen before, but not one she can imitate... and yes, given their pending activity? There's definitely some jealousy involved. For her part, Marie jogs after. Keeping her arms around herself to keep the coat as closed as she possibly can, though it does flap around a bit with the rushing air generated by her form moving through it. Sharon's definitely faster at getting to the lake, but Marie's not trailing too far behind, either... and is definitely making her way there.

Admittedly, she hasn't taken the time to look at the lake, or the temperature either. It's possible the thing is frozen over still! ...but also entirely possible that it's not. She'll find out soon enough, she knows.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith dashed swiftly along the perimeter of the lake, probably looking for the part that was deepest or least frozen over. It was a very short lived examination, as the cat soon lept up in a tall, impressive arc toward the water, and...

Splash!

A very small splash considering her downward velocity. She'd made a very convincing ruse of it, but barely jumped in far enough to get her front feet wet.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
It takes Marie a bit to catch up, though it's easy enough for the redhead to keep sight of the black cat running across the yard. She'll follow the cat's path around the lake, making her own way over to where Sharon had jumped into the water before trying to catch sight of the feline. In the time she took to get there, she could've gone further in afterall!

Assuming she's still present and visible, Marie asks the cat, "How is the water?" Though, it's mostly a rhetorical question given that she knows an intelligible response probably isn't forthcoming. So, she'll carefully kick off one of her shoes, and move to dip her toes daintily into the water.... before immediately withdrawing with a shudder that takes her tumbling backwards onto her bottom, which reveals that her own swimsuit is a black, one-piece leotard-style suit. Conservative, but Marie always has been.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith dashed around in a circle. She watched Marie expectantly, having thought her grand performance would be enough to trick her into diving headlong into the water. Unfortunately, her timing was slightly off, having forgotten about the delay of having to remove things like shoes and a coat. The cat almost looked disappointed, swatting a forepaw against the woman's calf in a mock motion of pushing her in. Luckily, the small cat simply didn't have the strength or leverage to actually shove her in, so it became more of a comical gesture more than anything.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Comical gesture it may be, but the little cat's efforts don't go misunderstood. "...right. Go in. Oui." Marie replies, mentally stealing herself as she unbuttons the coat and leaves it back on the ground underneath her. Pale skin is covered with goosebumps already as she moves up to her feet, and makes her way towards the water. While diving in would certainly the best way to... break the ice between herself and the cold water (That's why the Polar Bear Club does it that way!), Marie's a careful person; she'll walk in, instead. Shivering more with each step, eyes trying to keep track of Sharon the whole time. She's regretting this already, but as long as Sharon still seems to be enjoying herself, she'll endure it as long as she can manage!

...which, admittedly, is unlikely to be /too/ long!

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith waited at the water's edge in hesitation. She was crouched low to the ground, looking almost ready to pounce. She didn't make any moves to pounce in right then. Perhaps she was just waiting for the signal that the water was fine, detoured by Marie's uncomfortable expression, or perhaps this whole ordeal was a ruse to see if she could trick Marie into jumping in a frozen lake to see if she would come up with a fish for her.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie trudges forward until she's about hips-deep in the water, though seeing the lack of Sharon actually getting /into/ the water stops there and turns around, arms tightly around her midsection, teeth chattering a bit as she speaks. "A-are you n-not going to s-s-swim, S-Sharon?" she manages, looking expectantly at the cat.

She'd be lying, though, if she wasn't quietly hoping for very catlike changing of Sharon's mind. The water is cold!

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith jumped up, raced around in a circle, and paused again at the water's edge. She seemed thoroughly amused that she'd gotten Marie this far. The next step would have been to simply dash straight back to the house with having never touched the water, but Sharon hesitated. She seemed to have some sympathy for Marie, who was simply being too good of a sport about the whole thing

Catseye shifted back to the form of a pale, purple haired woman, narrowed her eyes at Marie in a glare and then stomped very quickly into the lake. The chill brought a wideness to her eyes as she nearly made it waist deep. It became oneof the shortest swims on record as she quickly decreed "I don't see any fish!" before hastily scampering back to shore and dashing toward the school once again.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
It's who Marie was; an innocent, in a lot of ways. Willing to put up with nearly whatever she had to in order to make her friends happy. She's admittedly surprised and pale skin reddens visibly as Sharon shifts back into her human form to enter the water, thinking that the furred form probably would've been warmer...

...but once Sharon makes her retreat? Marie's running after. Splashing water as she goes, only stopping to pick up her shoes and coat, the latter of which is hastily put back on as she runs. "The fish were smarter than we were!" she calls out after Sharon. She's going to fall behind again, naturally, but her coltish legs were definitely good at running, and very, very motivated!

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith shrank back down to the form of a small cat, for a much more hasty dash, but returned to pale human figure once again for one plain and evident reason, skin was far easier to dry. She took full advantage of her hodgepodge pile of clothes, using half of it as an impromptu mess of towels, while having enough left over to wear. She even had a few stray pieces that she 'shared' with Marie to toss her way. Catseye Didn't do much blushing, squirming, or covering up. She was indifferent to a flash of skin as she was a flash of fur She simply pulled clothes on because she was supposed to, and skin needed the added protection and warmth of extra layers.

"Sneaky fish. Ha. Ha." she mocked with a snicker. From there, she started snatching and dragging along anything and everything that seemed blanket-like in the direction of the nearest fireplace. From pillowes, to rugs, to tablecloths. She came up with a fairly impressive pile by the time she completed her journey.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
While Sharon was much more open about things, Marie was far less comfortable in her own skin in most situations. Even the swimsuit, conservative as it was, showed a bit more skin than the redhead was comfortable with... which might be one of the reasons that she makes no issues about putting on the pieces of clothing that Sharon flings her direction, because every inch of her own pale flesh covered was an inch closer to her comfort zone; not to mention Sharon's! She'd known the purple-haired girl for long enough to recognize her quirks and that there wasn't anything too sinister behind them, though, which made it a little easier.

"They... are probably vacationing in Florida, or something." Marie suggests, a little breathless, but quickly warming from the less-cold environment and the clothes she's wearing. The swimsuit is partially damp beneath it all, but subtraction was not something she was about to do in the dining hall! Once she's dressed, and notices what Sharon's doing... well, she decides to lend a hand. Even dipping into the Foyer to collect a couple extra blanket-adjacent items to add to the pile. Because. Frankly? Childish as it might appear to others... a blanket-fort in front of a fireplace sounded like just about the most wonderful thing in the world right now.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith reached out to grab and pull at the shoulder of Marie's swimsuit. "I told you, your clothes would get wet" she boasted, proudly lifting her chin and smirking at her grand oracle abilities. She used her grip on the swimsuit to drag Marie down onto the half-finished blanket fort, piling on to snuggle against her. "You should have told me it was a bad idea to swim today" she joked with a bone chilled shivver.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie goes easily; partially because, again, the blanket fort is very inviting, but partially also because the last thing she wanted was a wardrobe malfunction. Laughing as she's taken down into the pile and snuggled against, Marie moves her arms to pull some of the blanket-items over the pair, as well, for added warmth. "Perhaps after all these years, you have gained some of my precognition, non?" she teases, body still shuddering on occasion, but those shudders are coming fewer and further between. The warmth is helping. "...but I..." she starts to protest, before realizing it probably would do little good and just agreeing, instead. "I should have told you, Sharon. I apologize. Can you forgive me?"

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith was an expert at snuggling, if only for a moment. A fleeting thought had her sitting up again. "We could go and find you a new, dry suit." She offered, glancing off in the general direction of the laundry room.

The mention of precognition got a nod from Sharon, who lifted her nose in mock pride. "Of coarse I have." she boasted before patting Marie on the head. "You are forgiven 'mon Amy'." she surprisingly remembered the phrase, but her pronunciation had much to be desired.
