Seeking out Familiarity
Date of Scene: 20 February 2023
Location: The Wick
Synopsis: While seeking out some of his usual comforts, Mike-in-Bruce comes across Thomas at the Wick. There's some explaining to do. Sometimes being a creature of habit is helpful.
Cast of Characters: Michael Hannigan, Thomas Blake

Michael Hannigan has posed:
While technically still the weekend, Sunday nights are not as busy in the bars as Fridays or Saturdays. As the night gets older, even less are present due to that thing called work looming over most of their heads. Since his other beverage of choice has been ruined by the Avengers fretting over every damn potential trigger, it seemed like just as good a time as any to go seek out the complete opposite form of the feared coffee.

ALCOHOL.

Mike is seated at his usual table, with his usual beer of choice, and his usual food order.

The only thing really different is the body doing these actions. Dr. Bruce Banner. While the height and hair color is there, the man is even lighter weight than Mike with a shorter hair cut. The face is a bit different as well of course, but that's obscured as he is currently leaning forward writing into his usual notebook.

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thomas Blake is at a small table using his phone. "So what did you... you liked the first chapter? That's great Pete... what the fuck do you mean who helped me with the big words? I went to good schools Pete... no it wasn't to kidnap debs from their prom! Listen you lousy..." Thomas' language degenerates into Gotham street talk, anatomical impossibilities and commentary on Pete Porterman's hygiene, personal habits and likely place in the Afterlife. He sums it up with, "Thanks for that feedback. I'll send you chapters two to four tomorrow. And thanks Pete, I appreciate this. Mike? He's still the only rocker I know in bed by eleven o'clock on his own. I will send your regards. He thinks you're asshole too, by the way." He's a little loud in his darker corner and a few people shot him a look.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Hearing a familiar voice call out his name, The face of Dr. Banner glances up and looks over to the shadows. He smiles, lifting his hand up in a wave of greeting to his friend but then something registers.

The other stuff might be his usual but his current appearance is not.

The fingers curl inwards to the palm before Mike turns his head. Smile fading.

How the hell was he going to explain this?

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thomas Blake raises an eyebrow and says, not unkindly, "Sorry guy. I'm in a relationship. But I'm flattered." He winks and starts eating the mini ribs that arrive. He glances at some comments n his phone.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
And then there it was, a quick dismissal. He sighs, "Very much aware, Tom." He mutters, giving a shake of the head, the Mike in Bruce reaches over to pick up his pen to look to his notebook again. "Hmm."

Maybe-

"Could you tell Megan sorry about the reschedulings? It couldn't be helped."

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thomas Blake peers at the nondescript man. "I do not care for strangers throwing my name around and I'm not Western Union. Do I know you from somewhere? I meet a lot of people. Help me out." Cue icy green eyed stare and poker face. World class poker face. Rescheduling? This might be a diversion. He scopes the room.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Well-" The smaller man frowns. "It might be easier to give an explanation if we were sitting at the same table. Where I'm not having to raise my voice or trying to test how good your hearing is. Can I join you?" He sets the pen down, starting to close his notebook. He probably should make the effort of paying for his own food now regardless of the response.

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thomas Blake nods and indicates the seat opposite him. "You should know I've beaten down bikers, thugs and waitresses generally warn customers not to approach me while I am eating. Make it fast. You may want to leave suddenly." He shoves the seat out, watching the man.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
With Thomas giving a general 'make it quick' response. Mike in Bruce gives a nod. Shifting to his feet, he reaches into his pocket to pull out enough bills to cover his food, drink, and tip. JUST in case he doesn't get back in time to avoid the clearing off process. Picking up his notebook, he heads over to Thomas's table and sits down in the indicated seat.

He shifts to the side, pulling out a few more bills to set on Thomas's table as well. "Just in case it's the other way around."

HAHAHA! A joke!

Right?

The notebook is set down on the table. With the proximity taken care of, Mike in Bruce proceeds to explain, voice lowered but not to the point of difficulty for someone sitting directly across from him to hear. "So, I'm Mike. And a few days ago I woke up in this body and the owner of this body woke up in mine. And no, it wasn't my magic that did it. And we're still figuring out who else got swapped around."

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thomas Blake takes a deep sniff and relaxes a little. "Okay. There are times I hate magic, like when Pix uses it fr home repairs. There's a reason Faeries live in hollow trees. I can believe this because... you're using the same hygiene products that Mike uses. Very few people know about my nose. Well... this is a fuck up. Have you spoken to Balm or the JLD about this relocation?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
There is that point where one is not sure how the outcome would be. And being that Mike in Bruce is telling someone that he magically got body switched, there's a LOT of ways this could have been interpreted. So when Thomas takes a big sniff and determines this to indeed be Mike, he relaxes.

The comment about the hygeiene products gets a nod and a huff of a laugh. "Oh yeah, the stuff at his place is terrible. That was the first thing I ended up changing once I could leave." Mike in Bruce admits. "As for Balm or the JLD. No one's really picking up. BUT, the Avengers and the one who caused for this to happen know about it. We're trying to figure out who all got affected so everyone can be put back. But that might take some time and..." The thin man gives a sheepish nod. "Hence the rescheduling."

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thomas Blake well. He kind of wishes Pixie would give up magic and stay with sticking people with that soul dagger. For all you know they cud wind up switching minds through some misspelling. Why that would be... that could be a hell of a weekend truth be known. Finally he allows, "I am not sure where I stand with Saeko these days. But I will try to contact her if you want. She's seen a lot. Uhm... who the Hell are you??"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"If you can get Saeko to give us a bit of luck for tracking down the others that'd be great." Mike in Bruce agrees. As for the remaining question. "Ah... the reason I couldn't really leave immediately. I apparently ended up in Dr. Bruce Banner's body." He pauses, "The guy who turns into the Hulk."

With that bombshell he gestures over to the waitress to bring another round. Alcohol may be needed.
