Hydra's Flying Circus
Date of Scene: 27 February 2023
Location: Airfield: Triskelion
Synopsis: The Widows talk over planes, hijacked helicopters, and spy games.
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Currently in the SHIELD airfield is a large Hydra assault transport - the aircraft having not been given a full designation yet. A large transport plane that could fit a large platoon that Hydra had grafted JATOs onto and reworked the ailerons and interior to somehow let it fly at a sustained burst of Mach 3 and then somehow land in under a hundred meters without killing everyone inside to a pulp.
A group of engineers are currently in the process of reviewing it in ways that only engineers can when seeing someone else's horrible breaches of the laws of physics and aerodynamics - likely as they hadn't thought of it first.
Natasha would be reviewing it over and pausing. "Crew of four, solid welding.." It wasn't something done in a slapdash fashion or jury rigged - it was a mostly finalized design.

Yelena Belova has posed:
It's cold out; it's winter, after all, and on the tarmac, the wind sheer is a little more than 'normal'. The blonde widow, therefore, is tucked into a large puffy white jacket, with jeans and boots peeking out from underneath. Yelena's hair is tucked into her french braid, though wisps are blown around, forcing her to pull her hair and wind it behind her ear, though it's a losing proposition.

"So this is it." The drawled speech gives the proper Russian pronunciation, and shows a total lack of being impressed. "So will not fall apart at seams," her lips press together as she nods, walking near her 'sestra' as she's examining the new acquisition. "Is not a helicopter."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod over, "Yes. It looks rather ridicluous." Eveyrwhere that had hinges looked like it had modules on it for the attachment of rocket boosters. She muses. "Almost impressive." A rare allowance for the enemy's aeronautics division.

"We have to figure out how to take it down and destroy it quickly. I thought you wouldn't miss it for the world."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Reaching out to put a hand on its side, Yelena pulls it away, rubbing her fingers together on the single hand, looking at the aircraft thoughtfully. "It looks dumb," is her declaration, pretty much in agreement. "Though might be interesting to see if there is data for flights." She wouldn't mind seeing what its pilots had put it through. Ceilings, speeds, that sort of thing.

Twisting around to face Natasha, her expression holds a touch of alarm, theatric though it might be, "Not this. It followed you home. Do you not get to keep it?" Like a puppy. "Or do you mean others."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would smirk at Yelena, "I wasn't part of the group that retrieved it. Hydra has more of them. Tell you what, if there's another operation to seize an intact one, if you're on it you can try and keep it for yourself. We have enough of them, I'm sure no one at SHIELD wants another one. IT gives the engineers enough conniption fits as it is."

The first method is always just simply preventing the thing from launching. It's still a BUFF that if you so much as hit one of the engines with a tracer will explode and barbecue everyone inside of it.

Yelena Belova has posed:
"Is so sad," and Yelena has one of those frowns that makes it hard to determine if she's serious or not. On a good day it's hard; she's learned over the years to have that 'outward face'. "I will go and find another," is given in that 'how hard could it be' voice. "Or, helicopter." She spins around slowly, looking at all the aircraft that sits upon the tarmac until blue eyes land upon the flock of 'copters. "What I would not give for one of those." It's been a little while since she's flown!

Her attention comes back around, and brows rise, "How hard would it be to fly this?" This can't be good...

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod, "Yes, I'm sure that you can find a helicopter easier than this. And it would probably be somewhat more useful. Then again, you don't take particularly good care of helicopters. I'm nots ure you're ready for such a responsibility yet. We might want to start you with something and work our way up to it." She would tease over.

"And ask Zinda. She's the one that flew it out."

Yelena Belova has posed:
She doesn't take good care of her helicopters? What?!

A defiant look comes to Yelena's face, though again more likely theatric than honestly insulted, and just to add, she laughs soon after. "Was not my fault. Any of those times. I blame missiles. And automatic gun fire. And the fact that they parked them in stupid places." Of course she's going to knock a skid, or get a few holes in the windscreen. Or.. or..

As for the news that it's Zinda's? Or rather, that Zinda had flown it out? Yelena scowls as she looks back at the aircraft, "She does not share."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would shrug her shoulders, "Well, yes. But yous hould still make sure to pick up after yourself. And what's the good of getting a pet and a repsonsibility if you blow it up before you've even taken it home and given it a custom paint job? You need to make sure that it survives long enough for you to make your escape with it. We can hardly have you blowing it up before you've even come aboard it."

"Well, she was the one that took it out. Depending on what's left of it when the aeronautics division is done with it, she probably can take it if she wants to."

Yelena Belova has posed:
"Bah," is all Yelena can say in the face of the lighthearted 'lecture' on the care and feeding of aircraft. "Is not like you have never crashed. Or been shot down. Or been force to land and then walk, or steal car or motorcycle." Fact of life right there for Widows. Yelena grins and starts a slow walk down the side of the aircraft, her hands tucked into her pockets deeply as proof against the cold. A sly smirk rises from the blonde as she makes her pronouncement, "I will ask Clint Barton."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would grin, "If you want to. Though he has nearly as bad a track record as you do. I'm sure that he can give you some pointers on it. Just don't ask him for any of his arrows. He can be quite possessive of them. If you're going to want to try something along those lines, you're going to have to make your own."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Getting a smile out of Natasha is victory in itself. There's a measure of comfort being with Natasha; after all, it's as if she's known the woman all her life. In a way, she did, having been compared to her and having competed against the spectre of her within the Red Room. Reality for her now, however, is a more visceral understanding, even while she's looking for her own equilibrium. In a way, she envies Natasha her partnership with another very capable operative, even if she's a self-proclaimed loner.

"Hah!" is barked as a laugh in response to Natasha's grin, "Give me pointers on new and unusual ways to crash?" She shakes her head, the grin remaining on her face after the laugh. "I do not want his arrows. If I want to kill silently, I will use suppressor or close in with knife." And she can.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would glance over at Yelena, giving the girl a half moment of evaluation. The smile is gone - Yelena knows it's there, but Natasha has a reputation to keep and the two are still out in public. So she can only soften so much. Widows are loners by nature. They're trained to be killers. Other people, other assets are a weakness that can be exploited. Natasha hd to be dragged into this kicking and screaming.

"Even ag ood suppressor puts out some noise if you're in a hurry. A knife is more effective, just requires you to get very close and have the drop." Is she.. Defending Clint's choice of weapon?

Yelena Belova has posed:
"If there is suppressor, it is not a hurry," Yelena returns. A suppressed rifle is the stock and trade of an assassin, sitting and waiting in a nest for their shot. The blonde Widow has sat many, many times waiting for the target, and the silenced kill is given to the patient. Mostly. There are those opportunistic shots, however, that she can concede.

Yelena cants her head, and she can hear that defense of a //bow and arrow// in her tones. The grin turns sly and she whistles softly. Does she even have to say anything?

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
It's implied! NOt stated directly. Then Natasha smiles. "Well, yous hould spar with the man sometime. Set it up in the survival area sometime. Take your normal kit,a nd he can take his. See how well you do. He did defeat me after all.. So he might have a few surprises for you."

Oooh, there goes the baiting

Yelena Belova has posed:
Yelena is actually surprised, not necessarily at the fact that Clint Barton bested her, but the admission. That takes a great deal, and she takes it in the spirit in which it's given. Still, Natasha absolutely knows that the bait simply can't be resiste. They both do.

"Really." Yelena looks dubious, side-eyeing Natasha in a theatric fashion before looking up at the engines of the aircraft, eyes narrowing. She's thinking, and probably not about the engines, and she nods. "I would enjoy that."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Clint is one of the few people that Natasha will openly admit can defeat her o n a regular basis that she faces off with. She might even regard him a peer - if not her better. That's about the highest praise she would ever indirectly give someone.

"I'ms ure that he would enjoy it sometime. Just catch him at one of his more lucid periods and I'm sure that you can talk him into it. Make sure there's some sort of bet."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Yelena barks another laugh, and she nods. "I will bet helicopter." Of course the Widow would go all out; it's nothing, right? "I will look for him. If you see him before I do, tell him I am looking for him." That doesn't sound ominous at all, does it? Considering her first interaction with the archer had him tied in a chair, giving her information...

"Will be fun."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would just smirk over at Yelena, "Yes, I"m sure that it will go well. Make sure that you have your own helicopter first. Or you'll face the undignity of losing a bet and having to go steal ones that explode on you. And he'll knwo it if you don't have one you can borrow."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Yelena grins at Natasha's response, and the expression reaches her eyes, setting them to gleaming. "Then he can come and steal it with me if he wants payment on debt." There comes in that second bit then, right? Having him work to keep them in the sky? It'd be an adventure! "It might do him good."
