Snow Day Astoria
Date of Scene: 13 March 2023
Location: Astoria Park
Synopsis: It's a cold day in march, and in a park, Molly Hayes meets people!
Cast of Characters: Molly Hayes, Rahne Sinclair, Jamie Madrox, Julie Power

Molly Hayes has posed:
After a recent snowstorm, the parks of New York City are blanketed in a lovely covering of white. Of course the paths and streets of the city have been wiped clean enough to allow for the unending march of daily life, but in some places, there's still untouched powder--and some even still drifts down from the skies! In one of the playgrounds of Astoria Park, a girl sits on one of the swings. She's swaying back and forth, no real energy in her movements except to keep the idle motion going.

She's got her phone in her hands, peeking down at it. It's Molly! Today's hat is one of those big fluffy wolf-head hats with the long squeaky mittens that hang off of them. She's bundled up real good, too, in heavy boots and some thick leggings. She got her favorite Pink Ranger coat fixed up, too, and she's smiling with cold-tinted rosy cheeks. "C'mon, c'mon..." she's talking to herself. Or her phone. Or her phone game.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahna has decided she want to go out for a walk. It is just the form she has picked might not be the best one to pick. Making its way though the park is this red furred Scottish Wolf that weight in at a impressive 1,050 pounds. I'm not joking, check the wikipedia. Rahne did not feel like putting on a sweater and she wanted to go out and so this is the form she picked and people can just deal. Now the thing that does set her apart from your common wolf is she has a collar and tag so she might just be someones pet. But then again who keeps that big a pet around. After the wolf makes it way through the park drawing stares from folks and moms to hide their children she finds a nice tree and then parks her furry butt underneath it and just watches the bar for now.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
Sometimes, you just want some good Italian for lunch. Queens Jamie had decided to stop by Bruno's for a little taste of Italy, and maybe snagged a glass of wine or two for his trouble, and then taken to strolling along towards the river. There was something he always found amusing by fresh snow - the many sets of footprints, some side by side, various sizes and shapes. Of course, when he was off on his own, there were many set of footprints too sometimes, but all the same - same gait, some size, same footprint. Evenly spaced.

His hands are shoved into the somewhat oversized down jacket that keeps some of the unseasonable chill from penetrating down to his skin, although his cheeks had taken on a slightly rosey hue. Had he known what the weather would have been he might have stayed at home, but the call of Bruno's was reall, and it was hard to resist when it made an appearance.

Julie Power has posed:
It's been a few years since she had been in town. Like, about three or such, the place has changed and... still the strawberry blonde young woman seems to recognize the place. At least most of the skyline. Brushing her hair back a moment as she shields her eyes against the sun, Julie Power, a.k.a. Lightspeed, turns into Astoria Park, stopping at a place that isn't exactly prominent, but to her, that's a spot that has meaning. Like, about a decade ago, she had seen the place from that very spot... and fought some things.

As she watches the panorama, she spies the big wolf, tilting the head a little, then chuckles as she clears her throat a moment to try a little wolf-whistle to the wolf with the wide collar.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There is a pause as the wolfs ears twitch then turn in the direction of the call. The she wolf, yes it is a she something that big would have obvious equipment, looks up and turns it head lazily in the direction of Julia and then fixes a pair of golden eyes upon them. Now this is the part where the big bad wolf gets up and mauls the park goer. No not this wolf, it gives you a look that says 'Oh if I must.'

Rising up and then doing one those long arch of the back stretches her it sticks it butt and tail up in the air before shaking itself and starting to walk slowly over to Julia before seating itself in front of them with a look that obvious says, 'Sup.'

Jamie Madrox has posed:
The long gait of Jamie, at least compared to some, carries him towards the playground. Not that he makes a habit of checking out children's playgrounds, but there is a dearth of other things to watch on an otherwise boring snowy day.

Molly Hayes has posed:
Molly swings a little bit longer, then pumps her fist, "YES! Shiny Growlithe!" She hoots as she jumps off of the swing. Was that what she was doing here? Playing Pokemon Go? Probably. Then she notices the... reactions. The slight panic. Is there a bad guy around? A fire? A bus full of orphans about to fall off a bridge?! "AH!" she gasps, spotting the wolf.

"Omigoshomigoshomigosh...!" squeals the girl in the... wolf hood, of all things today. She stuffs her phone in her pocket and does what every normal girl probably shouldn't be doing--running towards Rahne's big ol' wolf form. Yep. Full sprint. She skids to a stop, sliding an extra few feet on the snow, and squeaks. "Oh Dunkaroos you're huge! Who's a pretty wolf?!"

This girl is... just... over the moon with Rahne's wolf form. She doesn't even think twice about practically diving into just faceplanting into the flank of the wolf. No hesitation, no caution. Just. FLOOMP. FLOOF.

Julie Power has posed:
When the wolf slowly turns, a little shiver runs down Julie's spine, but she does offer a smile, stepping two or thre feet into the huge canine's direction as she closes in...

Only to be nigh tackled over by a late teenage girl with wolf hat and a high pitched sound that tells of fun. "Hey, careful..." she tries, speeding the steps to be close enough to try and intervene should the dire wolf dislike being all floofed and cuddled. Though, she does offer a hand for it to smell at. "Easy girl... but she's right, you are a pretty one."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
The large red wolf turns in the direction of Molly and it eyes her, can't tell if it is being weary of her or not it watches her charge and instead of getting its hackles raise it watches impassively and then fixes it eyes upon the girl as she vanishes into the large soft red fur. The player does not have a idea on how soft a wolf pelt is, but this one is apparently free of dirt or other thing one would expect a wild wolf to have. So the fur is very soft and silk, almost like someone cleaned their fur.

The wolf take it all in stride and doesn't spazz out like one would expect a wild animal to it remains very calmly and adjusts itself so Molly can get the most out of her hug. It then turns it gaze towards Julia and its head tilts, if you look at the thing eye you can tell there is no animal intelligence in it, that is a human like intellect, with all the super heroes and super beings one of their pets might of got lose. The collar says the wolfs name, its is a black collar with the tag 'Rahne Sinclair.'

Molly Hayes has posed:
There's just. A muffled voice. "THIS IS AWESOME!" Molly's just gone. Forever. Lost to wolf floofs. She's being extra, extra gentle, too. Petting at Rahne, not pulling at the fur. No gripping, just stroking. The fact the wolf is adjusting itself to better facilitate the hug isn't lost on her, either. "Omigosh who's a good girl?! So fluffy... so sofffffffffft...." If she were a marshmallow, she'd just be melting right now. All over that fur. Gross. Good thing she's not a marshmallow.

Then she's vaguely aware of another person. Another voice. Someone that's... probably *WAY* more reasonable than Molly is. So she turns her head--while still glued to Rahnefluff--and stares at Julie wide-eyed. "Omigosh and LIGHTSPEED?! Giant wolf, Lightspeed, and a shiny Growlithe?! Today. Is. Amazing! It could only get better if Uncle Ramon's El Supernatural Mexicano taco cart were here!" She pauses. She listens super hard. Annnnd....

    Nothing.

"Oh.. right.." she pouts, "...he only takes the cart around Central Park."

Julie Power has posed:
Julie Power reads the tag after the hand is seemingly accepted, the eye contact kept up. "Rahne Sinclair? You are a big one." she notes, checking the back of the tag if there was a name who she might belong to before offering a little brush of the head. "Out on a stroll, hmm?"

That's when Molly turns and stares at her wide eyes, pretty much yelling her name out. "Eh... sure? I mean, that's my Alias. Really... wait, I haven't been heroing under that name for like... the last three years?" she offers with a little blush, offering a hand. "Anyway, call me Julie. And you are?"

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
The wolf kind watches Molly before it carefully raises one of its paws up and does kind of one armed hug with her, the pat doing a little pat on the back before lowering again as it remains neutral. Wait someone mentioned a shiny growlithe. Its ear perk for a moment as it takes in that nugget of information the wolf focuses on Molly for a moment. Well she doesn't want to deprive the girl of the floof so it settles down on in a reclining position and will just have to pass on the growlithe, part of her is liking the attention she receives.

The wolf dips its head to allow Julia to pet it as well it settles into tis relaxed position and watches the folks calmly.

Molly Hayes has posed:
Being hugged by the giant wolf just about takes Molly's breath away. She can't do anything but make the tiniest little squeal as she cuddles in all the tighter to Rahne. She's still got her eyes on Julie, though! "I love hero stuff!" she says when she finally catches her breath. That was a long, long squee sound! The Molly is very, very content. Even without the taco cart.

Then she manages to free a hand from the fluff she's petting, reaching out to take Julie's and give it a gentle squeeze-and-shake. "Oh! I'm Molly. And thissss..." she trails off, not having seen the tag. "..is not my pet wolf but I wish she was! Gorton's yellow rain slicker, she's amazing... I don't think we could even fit her in the apartment though..."

Molls still doesn't know that Rahne is also a person. Outside of the 'giant wolves are people, too' personhood, that is.

Julie Power has posed:
Julie Power says, "Well, I am pretty sure Rahne Sinclair here is a very smart wolf, and the tag doesn't really say who they belong to." Julie muses as she shakes the hand of Molly. "Nice to meet you Molly. So... uh... you're like... a fan of sorts? I didn't knew I have fans these days.""

Jamie Madrox has posed:
Jamie recognizes the wolf, even without hearing the name read out from the name tag. A quirk of a smile appears on his face. Such a wholesome scene. Part of him wants to interupt, and spout about the risks and such. But he isn't Scott, thankfully. And so he just sort of meanders over towards the group, keeping an eye out for any sort of trouble that might come their way. There are some who would be repulsed by something as wholesome as this, and if that happens...

Well, he may only be a Jamie, but if necessary, he could try to pretend to be Scott.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There has something Rahne has been resisting doing with Molly but might as well, it turns its giant head towards her, opens its mouth and the drag its tongue along her cheek a few times in the standard doggie kiss. It then turn towards Julie, has a aunt named Julia so sorry, and takes note of her talking for a bit before. She debates how long she want to let this go for but if it gets to around we should bring the thing home for adoption she is going to turn back. Yeah the tag doesn't really have a owner name, but odes have a the infamous circle and X.

Molly Hayes has posed:
"Totes a fan! I used to read a lot of comic books and I follow a buuuuunch of Hero-Spotting Twitter accounts an' I've... just... always liked... seeing people.. doin' amazing stuff... an'.. an'.. EE!" Molly's hitched thoughts get halted even further when there's suddenly a bunch of warm wolf slurps on her cheek. All Molly can do is giggle, "Omigosh you're amazing... I guess if she's got a collar I can't take her home anyway.." she pouts. What might have been.

"But. Um. Yeah! I know. A LOT of heroes. I even got pictures with Batwoman an' Starfire an' Flamebird last month!" she titters, nuzzling at Rahne's fluff to just enjoy the feeling--and to get the slurp-residue off of her face.

Julie Power has posed:
That (X) shoule be well known to Julie. After all... she has a history with the X-men. Like, back in 2018 or such, when she was still a teenage heroine. "If anything, I have a hunch where Rahne might belong to. Might even have a number to call so they can get me the right number. Though I bet we just need to get her a ticket for the bus or something to find her way home. Wait, you are like... a hero spotter of sorts?" Julie asks to Molly, offering Rahne the hand to choose if she wants more head ruffles or not, having seen the intelligent eyes.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
The wolf kind of focuses on Julie for a moment, it then hangs it head for a moment in kind of 'I'm so busted' look. Its tail goes back and forth for a bit before it then looks at Molly and then uses its nose to back her off a little bit before what looks like the most painful change goes on.

Muscle and sinew twist and change as the large wolf legs go through the change, going bipedal, the armors elongate a bit as they become hangs with razor like claws but they shrink down into human digits and the hair begins to shrink back in until Rahna the X-men is stand there as she takes a moment before she laughs. "Ah...No need to call the professor. I was just...Well it was cold and I didn't want to wear a jacket and....Well professor said I should not be ashamed of my mutation so.." She smiles and then shrugs. "Sorry, please to meet you.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
Lingering just near the periphery, not enough to intrude on the conversation but enough to follow along, Jamie looks to Rahne as if to show her that he is there and aware if she needs help, but also that he is not intervening. If she needs help getting home, he'll help, but if she wants to play it out, well then he'll let her play it out. Who is he to dampen anyone else's fun?

Then, of course, Rahne decides to reveal herself after all, and Jamie just laughs quietly. "Show off."

Molly Hayes has posed:
Molly hasn't played her whole hand yet, and she probably won't. The Bruiser or the Princess aren't needed right now, after all. Sometimes Molly just wants to be Molly. And Molly wants to hug a wolf. And she did. "Well, sort of! I mean. I go places. An' stuff happens. An' if I see someone... awesome! If I don't... whatever. But there's so many jerkbutts around that you can't walk the streets of New York or Gotham without seeing a Spider or a Bat around..." she shrugs.

Then she pouts and lets out a little 'awww' when Rahne nudges her back. But she complies, "Floof over..." she muses, then eyes widen as the wolf transforms. She puts her hands over her eyes... and then spreads her fingers to watch. "Whoa! Gnarly!" the blond exclaims, then listens to Rahne. "...that's... amazing...!" she gawps, then looks to Julie. "...awww, don't call her in! She's fine to hang out, right?" she pouts, then looks back at the former-wolf, frowning.

Then Molly, being the exact same height as Rahne now, plucks the wolf hat off of her own head and tries to plop it down on top of Rahne's.. and straighten it out with the tongue-poking-out look of concentration, too. "...so you're not cold!" she explains.

Julie Power has posed:
"Busted? Oh my, sorry! I didn't mean to like call your chaperone or something. I was suggesting to call Mr. Stark if he knows how to call Wolverine or somewher where to drop you off. And there's nothing ot be ashamed. I mean, You are who you are, I am who I am, and really, if you wanna be a wolf, so be it." Julie muses, offering a hand to Rahne. "So you're Rahne? I'm Julie."

"Oh, you havn't seen Los Angeles and San Francisco then. You can't cross the street without seeing some sort of strange person, there's the west coast avengers campus and for some odd reason a swarm of intelligent nazi bees over there. And I wouldn't call her in. I mean, if she wanted a lift, I could give her one, or call for one."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahna smiles a bit sheepishly at Molly and Jamie, she was enjoying the attention too after all the usual response to seeing a Dire Wolf is to call animal control and bring elephant trauqs. She had to explain that one to professor too. "Oh goodness Logan will chew me out." She chuckles a bit. She is wearing hat X-Man leotard, the one made of the smart molecules that adjust with her size and well turns into a dog collar when she is in her wolf form. "I think the speech would be 'time and place for everything'" She then takes ahold of Julie's hand and gives it a firm shake. "Rahna Sinclair." her voice does have a Scottish accent flair to it but she doesn't have the heavy borough that most natives have.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
Laughing for a moment, Jamie shakes his head. "I'm no chaperone. Just happened to be in the neighborhood and spotted what was going on." He winks towards Rahne. "Seems like perfectly innocent fun, nothing to see her." He taps the side of his nose.

Looking towards Julie and Molly, he raises a hand briefly in a wave. "I'm Jamie. Friend of Rahne's friends." He doesn't want to speak too much of how Rahne sees him - they are familiar with each other, but hardly have spent much time hanging out independently. "And I am so /not/ the responsible type. So you're all good there."

Molly Hayes has posed:
"Oh, no way! California?" Molly asks Julie, laughing. "I uh. I was born there. And. Lived there for like... thirteen years... and.." her mirth fades and she looks away a moment, pulling a hand up to squeeze her upper arm. "..uh. Stuff. Happened. But! I'm in New York now! So! It's all good!" she turns to look back at Julie, trying really hard to smile. "So I've seen heroes all over the place. It's amazing. Between here and California!" she nods emphatically.

"Annnnyway..." she pulls something out of her pocket. Is that...a backup hat? It's... like. A teddy bear scullcap. With the ears. And little floppy arms that juuust barely cover her ears. "I'm just.. out here waiting to hear from a girlfriendfriend. Then we can grab an early dinner! I can't wait to tell her about the giant wolf I met... and Lightspeed, too. ER. Julie? Do you still do the hero stuff then or do you do something else...?"

She keeps glancing over at Jamie, but seems satisfied that he's not going to narc on Rahne. Once she's got Rahne's and her own hats properly situatd, she reaches out her own hand to him. "Molly!" she states brightly.

Julie Power has posed:
"Friend of her friends, hm? Well, I guess, that counts. As said, I'm Julie." she introduces to Jamie, offering the hand once more, a smile on her cheeks.

"Why would Logan... oh! Yeeeea, the last time he wasn't very amused to be helped by a bunch of teens and preteens... gosh, those were days..." She chuckles a moment, then shrugs. "It's not like you made people go all crazy and call in the Avengers, so everything should be fine. Besides, no need to tattle on you if you find your way yourself."

There's a little nod to Molly, as she offers a smile. "I spent like... the last three years there. Doing film stuff a little, taking classes... you know, the general stuff... and I guess occasionally hero stuff."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There is a pause as she looks at the wolf hat, then she recalls for a moment as she pulls out her phone and opens the pokemon go app. "You said there was a shiny growlithe around?" She smile a little sheepishly, yeah you can be a super hero and play pokemon. Ah yes Logan, "Logan is a nice guy once you get to know him, but I doubt he would be amused by me walking around in my wolf form as you guys did. Last time animal control was called on me and I ended up having to write a essay by the professor about the responsibility of power.

As for Mr. Madrox she then miles a bit, "Yeah well, I've come to terms with my mutation. Beside there is something rather liberating about walking on one paws, feeling the earth and snow against your feet and breathing in the snow and air with enhanced senses. I mean pine has a very nice oder.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
"The last time I walked around on my naked paws in the snow, it wasn't animal control that they called on me." Jamie winks at Rahne, and then nods to both Molly and Julie in turn as they introduce themselves. "Pleased to meet you both." He shakes both of their hands in turn, although from a twinkle in his eye Rahne might detect that he was flirting with the idea of shaking them both simultaneously. But it's enough to have one mutant showing off their powers.

"And yeah, I'm good for counting. Could probably get you up as high as you needed to go, really, if I pressed myself."

Molly Hayes has posed:
"Wow... busy!" Molly nods again to Julie. "Film stuff? Like what? Were you in any movies? TV shows?" she hops between feet a little, a little ball of energy this girl. She happily shakes Jamie's hand, too! New friend? Well, someone that's not trying to hurt her or take her away. So, new friend!

"Logan?" she asks, looking between everyone in the group, then blinks at Rahne. "OH! Yeah! Here!" she pulls her phone out and holds it up to the former-wolf. "Here..." she pulls up the game and then points at the swingset. "You should be in range! I was just over there..." she smiles.

The onscreen name is 'HatPrincess'. "It would be so cool to be a wolf... or a growlithe... going all... paws down and stuff like that.." she smiles at Rahne, listening to her talk about being a wolf. "...I'm just a Molly."

Julie Power has posed:
"Rahne, I was like fourteen or something? Anyway, after beating up Sabertooth, Wolverine lost a best Wolverine costume contest to my brother Jack and a bunch of others." Julie muses, offering a little shrugg. "He can be quite ok as a teamup, if a scruffy one. At least he was like almost a decade ago."

As Molly asks about the films, she sighs a little. "I did Stuntwork. Like, falling and all. Typical hollywood stuff and the directors were at times rather... uh... not the best people." She waves off, shaking her head.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne checks the phone and yep there is a growlithe, she begins to bring it up, waits for the load and then begins to flick little pokeballs towards the growlithe until she gets it caught and then smiles. "Thank you Molly." She then tucks her phone away. "I'm Rahne Sinclair by the way. I'm a mutant, not a really werewolf so you don't have to worry about me going bat shit bonkers are the full moon or turning other people into werewolves."

Although if one knows Belinda then you know werewolves are real and they just want belly rubs. "Logan has gone through some changes. He has kind of mellowed out, but not by much. He is still rather intense.

Molly Hayes has posed:
"You met Wolverine?! And Sabertooth?! WOW! Wolverine's so cool! And... ugh. Sabertooth is. Kind of... a huge jerk. But that's amazing! I'd love to team up with Wolverine...! I mean.. uh.. meet... Wolverine..." Molly stammers, blushing now, her exuberance getting the better of her. When presented with the mention of her absolute favorite superhero, how could she stay composed? Well, whatever cat is out of the bag is... a dog? Back in the bag?

She turns her focus to Rahne and her phone, "Oh yeah! You got it!" she cheers then her own phones chimes. "Huh? Oh fishsticks! I gotta go! Enjoy the hat! You can keep it! Nice to meet you Rahne! Julie! Jamie!" She starts to sprint off, shouting something about free pizza.

Julie Power has posed:
Julie Power waving to Molly as she darts off suddenly, Julie smiles, then sighs a moment as she is out of earshot. "Gosh, you really think the man mellowed out? I havn't been in the hero thing for like... a couple years. You rear the uniform... X-men? Or some other X-Team?"

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne Sinclair waves as Molly heads off and then turns her attention to Julie. "I think so, but I haven't seen him lately so I wouldn't know, he often goes off by himself for long periods of time to bring home clones of himself or X-23. I think they just keep spare bit of wolverine around the weapon x program. Oh and I'm on the main X-team

Julie Power has posed:
Julie Power blinks twice as Rahne talks about Logan apparently having the hobby of bringing back clones. "Uh, that sounds like... unhealthy. I mean, he isn't very kind to people that cross him. Wait, you're on the main team? That must be like so cool! I mean, you and the others... I only ever been in Power Pack, and we disbanded. I mean as a proper team. Though we do know how to do our post-ops and such."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahna glances up. "Well right now we have Laura and Gabby. There was more but they have all died. But I am sure someone will clone more of him, I'm almost sure of it." She takes a seat on one of the nearby benches and opens her phone to see if there are anymore interesting pokemon in the area before putting it away and then look at you. "So you were with the Power Pack, what are they like?

Julie Power has posed:
"So that makes three currently?" Julie asks back, tucking her hands into the pockets of her jacket to try and keep the fingers warm. "Oh, like my siblings. Mostly reliable, but then again, they're my siblings and we did quarrel. We had our fun going to space and stopping the evil snarx from invading earth, rescued abducted kids, teamed up with the F4 and Hercules, fought a Green Goblin and a gang of youngster crack dealers... you know, what you do in a team that's your family..."
