Date of Scene: 27 March 2023
Location: New Troy
Synopsis: Kara and M talk quickly over coffee.
Cast of Characters: Kara Danvers, Monet St. Croix

Kara Danvers has posed:
Having left class early to deal with a sudden power surge in Metropolis, Kara is just now changing back into her civilian clothes with a breathy sigh. Things had gone surprisingly well against the electrically charged psychopath that is Livewire, but the effect on Metropolis was fairly substantial, if short-lived. See, Leslie had attempted to drain the power plant. The news showed coverage of Supergirl arriving, hurling Livewire several miles away from the power-grid, then talking her down as Helicopters (news and police) arrived at a distillery plant just outside of Metropolis proper.

The grid was reestablished, of course, because this is the City of Tomorrow. But for a few minutes, it was a little touch and go. Brown-outs, rolling system resets, and one downed cell tower that will probably require teams on hand for the rest of the afternoon.

It could have gone so much worse.

Now Kara is sitting at a bristol with a cup of coffee.. staring at her cellphone from behind her red-framed nerdy glasses.. which she brings up to send off a quick text to Monet. Chewing on her bottom lip for a second, unsure until her finger finally presses the screen to send it off.

> Hey.. want to get some coffee? Metro Jitters?

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Supervillains with electricity were among the most dangerous. Because there were so many sources of power and things they could disrupt. Monet had been spending more time in Metropolis with the recent attacks by Destro, ensuring she was onhand should something happen again. She had followed the news of the fight and had been following it somewhat worriedly - not that sue would ever admit as much to anyone.

Damage could be repaired. People could not be so easily. Metropolis was a hardy city - it could take the worst that the world could give out and come out stronger. It was the City of Tomorrow.

Upon getting the text, she had sent an affirmative and would tap her fingers.

>Give me about five minutes.

Five minutes later she would arrive.. But, rather than landing outside she wuold simply walk in through the door. While normally Monet was always making a strong impression.. Here she seemed to barely stand out, justa nother person going in and out of an expensive coffee shop. Giving a wave and heading over to Kara's table.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara doesn't stand out if she doesn't want to. Just a plain looking girl with her hair in a messy blonde bun, white t-shirt, and loose brown jacket over skinny jeans and sneakers. Nobody pays attention to just another face in the crowd! Though she certainly sees Monet, even if nobody else does.

A grin on her face, hand in the air to wave her over to the table. She pushes up and isn't really sure what to do. For a second she looks awkward, then opens her arms tenatively as if inviting a hug. She's still pretty drained from the fight. There was a moment there when she was hit in the chest with a whole lot of electricity. It hadn't killed her, but that sort of thing can knock the wind out of anyones sails!

"Thanks for coming. I... mmm... it's good to see you."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would go to slide down to the table and take a seat, "Are you all right?" Evaluating the other woman, quickly assessing if she seemed.. Shocked. Scanning her over for any signs of disorientation or injury. Folding her hands together and then smiling. Going to lean in and give a hug, gently, as long as i twould be accepted.

"Is everything okay? And it's always good to see you as well. Is there something you would like to talk about or just to catchup?" Her tone quiet, inquisitive. Her expression slightly more emotive than usual. Not quite concern in her eyes.. But something close to it.

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I'm fine." Kara assures with a weak smile and blue eyes turning down at the attention Monet is giving her. Truly, she does look like she's okay. A little worn out, maybe, but not physically hurt. Unless being drained counts, which it might. The hug is returned, possibly a little awkward. It feels stiff and then she settles back with her hands worrying together, thumb rubbing the top of the other where they sit together on the edge of the table between them.

"Yeah.. oh yeah... nothing's wrong. I just... it's been a while?" She looks up, reaching to adjust her glasses, even if she doesn't need them. It's a programmed tic, another part of a disguise she's spent years perfecting. Small details to add to the general normalness she exhibits. "How are you? You look nice.." Chewing her bottom lip gently.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Disoriented. Not concussed, just somewhat exhausted. Monet's eyes would quickly wander over her. "You need to go up high for awhile." Wasn't that how Kryptonians reinvigorated themselves? Over into the sun for a bit? Finishing the hug and letting Kara go.

"It has. Life for both of us can be rather complicated. You have a great many obligations. As do I. It can be hard." The woman of raw ego held about her like an armored skin was well aware of mental disguises.

"I would like to think I -always- look nice." A light, but playful huff.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Something about that Ego. Kara rolls her eyes as how overtly Monet is able to turn a compliment into something of an ego trip, even if playfully. She smiles endearingly at her, blue eyes twinkle for just a second behind those glasses. One hand snakes across the table and turns over on its surface, opening. She doesn't grab her hand, but she's leaving the option on the table.

"You do." She assures her, just as playfully, but without a huff.

"Yeah.. I probably should have gone up to soak up some sun." The thought had occured to her, of course. Not that doing so was something they still couldn't do. "Coffee first?" She quirks a brow, still wearing the easy grin.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would settle back and smile. She would always be her smug, outwardly appearing completely self centered self. Her hand would reach forwards to squeeze Kara's. She let the other girl indicate her comfort level before any approach. M was never quite the most physical person, so small gestures often escaped her unless directly or indirectly cued. All thsoe sorts of subtle things went right past her head for all her self-declared super intelligence and perfection.

"Of course. Someone has to. And it will be me." Not 'might as well be'. 'It is'.

"I can go with you if you would like. But yes, coffee first." She would order her own a moment later to have it brought over.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Squeezing the hand affectionately, Kara let that linger for a moment before retracting it to reach for her cup-o-joe for a sip. Peering around at the lightly populated shop with a quieted sigh. It sometimes felt good. Just existing. Not having all eyes on her. She got quite enough of that as Supergirl. "I have no idea how you deal with it.. all that attention... all the time." Supposing it's easier when she can just mute her presence in everyone's mind.

It still makes Kara uncomfortable.

She never wanted to be the center of attention. Like ever. Though it's clear she's fine with being the center of Monet's. At least when she smiles and blushes a little, "Sure. I think I'd like that." Going flying with her.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would get her own drink and glance over her shoulder and smile, "I'm perfect. Why shouldn't other people get to appreciate me for what it is?" Monet does bask in the attention. If only as it distracts her immensely from her own quite significant issues and gives her the simplest way to give herself space. But she was aware it made Kara uncomfortable.

Which is why she put up the veil around her to make her seem rather ordinary. And kept her commentary more in a teasing light. "Take your time, we can always go with the light." The joy of beinga ble to fly fast enough to keep up with the fading sun.
