Synopsis: Scott and Kitty try out the new retro arcade at Xavier's School.
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Scott Summers

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty was excited for the retro arcade to be opened up. It hadn't gone over quite as well with the students. Yes, they came and played it the first night, and a few would pop in after that now and then. But barring a few big screens for Call of Duty or whatever the latest game craze was, it wasn't as much utilized.

Which was great for Kitty. She stands at the Donkey Kong upright machine. A table within reach has a chilled glass of Sunkist on it. Lockheed lounges nearby, occasionally opening an eye to check on her progress.

"Heh heh, take that you dumb ape," she says, shortly clearing another level. "It won't be long, just two more," she murmurs. But then thirty seconds later, disaster strikes and she loses her last life.

"Darn it!" Kitty exclaims. The high scores come up. They all read SHDWCT. Except for the next to bottom one, which she hasn't been able to completely dislodge from the high scores list.

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott makes his way down, wearing a polo shirt (the kind with a little alligator on it!) and a pair of khakis along with broan loafers. His ruby quartz glasses are set in place and he's had a recent haircut, sheared short on the sides with a little length remaining on top.

"Guess the ape wasn't that dumb, huh?" he says with a grin as he makes his way in. "I guess not being able to call strangers names on the internet makes these a little less popular than the computer games, huh?" he says.

He makes his way over to a DISCO FEVER pinball machine. His gift for spatial geometry and vectors makes him a pinball wizard. Is he showing off? Well, maybe a little.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde grins as she looks up at Scott's entrance. "Yeah, got me that time. I mean, it was still 10th place, but not enough to bump down 9. I'm not sure who MSSPBL is but they are going down," she tells him, tapping the screen.

The young woman picks up her soda, which she has always liked but she figured it was kind of thematic for playing stand up video games. She walks over to lean against the back of a chair nearby as she watches Scott get ready to play the game.

"You were old enough to live through Disco, weren't you?" she teases. He's only a few years older than her after all!

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott Summers sticks his tongue out, "Not really my thing. I like classic rock, some country and western. Crooners," he says. "Nothing you can dance to. Dancing and I do not get along well."

His hands work on almost autopilot, flicking the paddles with lightning speed to keep the pinball aloft, ricochetingn off the disco ball, some little dancing figures, even a cigarette with a tip that glows and puts off fake smoke.

"They had stuff like this at the orphanage where I used to live. Old video games, old toys, old books. Nothing later than 1980 for us. Donations and salvage, anything to save a buck."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
While Scott is busy at the pinball game, Kitty pulls out her phone of her own design, and taps into the room's sound system. Soon some music to accompany him on the pinball game starts up.

As Scott plays, Kitty walks in place using her moonwalking skills to seem to walk without actually moving about the room, walking in time to the music.

"Do you keep in touch with anyone from back then?" she asks Scott, voice softening a little bit as he brings up that point in his life. She rests a hand on his back gently at the question.

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott Summers keeps his cool, although moonwalking mutants and the Bee Gees definitely make their mark and he almost misses a bounce.

"Most of them hated me, once they found out I was a mutant. If the Professor hadn't come..." he says, shaking his head. "And my brother doesn't count. He was sent to a different place than me. He barely even remembered me when he finally found me," he says softly.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives Scott's back a couple of gentle pats before she moves to lean against the chair back for a perch. "I know I had it kind of easy compared to a lot of people," she says. She had a pretty normal life by most people's standards, definitely better than many mutants have had. Up until her mutation and the X-men showing up anyway.

"Speaking of your brother, how is he? What's he up to lately?" she asks. The Sunkist is picked up and sipped. Kitty looks over at the Donkey Kong game, trying to work out who MSSPBL could be. "Monet... sssuspiciously ssslurping... Pabst... Blue... Libbon?"

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott Summers flicks eyes invisibly behind his opaque glasses, tracking the ball even as he speaks casually.

"In Egypt, last I heard. Some sort of geology work involved with some of the archaeological digs out there. There are lots of details in the last e-mail I got taht I don't remember. Guess the guy he's working for is kind of dick, but hopefully it's worth it."

"I don't think we have any Miss Pbl's employed."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"Oooo," Kitty murmurs at the mention of Egypt. "You know, I've always wanted to go explore the pyramids. Would probably need a good day, having to go in and come back out to breath. But once I found some passages I could probably be exploring in there for however long it takes to uncover it all."

She sips her Sunkist. "Yeah, I can't think of anyone whose initials fit. Marie-Ange? Moira? Not like she'd have been in here," Kitty says. "Though, I mean, well, maybe it is her time frame," Kitty says, looking at the 80s motif.

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott Summers nods, "Alex could definitely hook you up. He wants me to come out and visit, but you know how things are around here. I barely get enough time to go to the city on the weekend every now and then. Which is fine. I like to be busy. And I'm a terrible tourist. Although seeing you go where no one has gone before might be interesting. Maybe you should've considered it as an alternate career path," he teases.

"how is the new job working out anyway?"

"Where did we get these from? It's real vintage, so might be somebody who made out at a bar with a stranger in 1984."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty gushes a bit. "Oh man, it's great. Doing some stuff with artificial intelligence. I mean you know Tony's got his armor tricked out and everything, but there are more multiple AIs they have under development there," Kitty says.

She doesn't mention the suspicion this particular one is tied in some way to the Iron Man armor. Though that's still kind of a guess.

"If I get some vacation time it'd be interesting. I'll have to check up with him and see what your brother would say," Kitty says.

She looks around the room. "Not sure. Professor's old storage maybe?" she kids. "You can buy stuff like this. They even refurbish it, or make some of it new."

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott would probably like to know about that. He admires Tony Stark but doesn't fully trust him, in the way that a poor kid might distrust a rich one. The guy's just too smug and too clever to entirely buy into, at least from where Scott sits. Or maybe Scott's just already picked his guiding star and so he looks askance at all others.

"Wouldn't be surprised if maybe some of them came from Harry's, even. Maybe someone down there would know."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty straightens from where she's leaning and moves over to look at how Scott is doing on the pinball game. "We should get you playing some of the dancing games. No time at all and you'll be ready to hit the disco floor," she says with a grin as he sends the pinball bouncing around the mirrored ball in the middle.

She considers and nods. "Could be," she says of the possibility one of the games came from Harry's. "I wonder how long it's been there," she muses. "The bar I mean. You know I need to get the Professor to tell some more stories from his youth. Find out more stuff about the mansion."

Scott Summers has posed:
"I don't think we have that one. But it's a good idea. Combines physical fitness and gaming. Keep their agility up," he says. "Oh, and, uh. Fun. It would be fun."

"Do we have any students with touch-based psychic abilities? I can't remember the precise term for it," he mutters. "Some form of postcognition, maybe. That's the only way we're going to know for sure. That or get Doug down here to look at it. If it's a puzzle, he'll solve it."
