One, Two, Too Many
Date of Scene: 26 April 2023
Location: Carrion Cove
Synopsis: An assassination turns into a semi-friendly competition between killers.
Cast of Characters: Jade Nguyen, Victor Creed

Jade Nguyen has posed:
Jade whistles as she sets up her rifle. She's got a good angle, and the boat is coming in. She saw it out in the bay, below her position, and she chuckles as she attaches the scope. "So easy, it's like printing money," she says, not bothering to hide or talk quietly. "I'm just a little silhouette of a girl..."

Scaramouche, scaramouche. Freedie Mercury would be proud of her. Best spot to set up a sniper position, and she won't have to cut through the enemies to get to her client. Target, whatever. "Will you do the fandango, when you die, good Senator?"

"Weird how many political jobs lately, but eh. Whatcha gonna do. Luthor's been good for business." She lays down, then scopes the site below. Almost time.

Easy money. Which is usually when something goes wrong.

Victor Creed has posed:
Snipers are great, and effective. But oh so impersonal. Victor likes to get a bit closer to his targets. And so as the boat comes in towards the dock, he walks along quietly, a grey trenchcoat serving as modest disguise, the lapels turned up to partially obscure his hairy cheeks. But standing well north of six feet tall, he still cuts a noticeable physique.

He does not actually need the money, of course. This is more sport for him. But a sport he enjoys. Just linger a few more moments, and it will be fun time.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
The dock that he's going to land at is, of course, not populated. It's a secure site, which is why the impersonal was Jade's choice of the day. Still, you can get close enough to be a lookie-loo, or a paparazzi. She yawns, noting how effing long boats take. Checks her watch.

Looks back.

"Oh, hello there Sabretooth. Who got you into the game?" She's got a gorgeous view, after all. Well, that just makes it fun. "Here, let's see if I can't stack the deck a little."

She cricks her neck, then puts the her eye to the sights. And then holds her breath, and squeezes off a shot.

Not to the target, he's not a target yet. To the boat, specifically to the engine. Which instantly starts to smoke, kick, and make noises.

And slow, the boat starting to be a bit of a snot about putting out power. I wonder why.

Victor Creed has posed:
It is not hard to ID Sabretooth. He is well known to the world, and certainly the mercenary community. And assassins. So his presence near the dock cannot be a coincidence. He just seems to be absently pacing, doing a not great job of looking like he is just lingering for no reason. Subtlety was not necessarily his strong suit.

As the boat sputters, he glances up and looks towards it. If he heard a pop before hand, he gives no indication of it, but a frown resides on his face. Whether there is another there for this mark or not, that definitely slows things down.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
Oh, yeah. He definitely heard that gunshot. But his lack of reaction is a choice that he can make, and one that is probably a good choice in this situation! The boat, a bit of a midsized yacht type, comes in with the people on board already alert, and a couple of people meet the ship there.

The engine troubles seem to be overlooked. The ship made it in, Jade not being an engineer or anything like that. "Poo," she says. "I suck. One bullet, one body? Not in any world I ever visited."

She likes playing Hitman sometimes though. It's so weird.

Then, after the site is populated with people in black suits though, the target appears. A man, balding, a bit grey. Sunglasses, and a hat. "Hello there."

But she doesn't fire yet. She scopes in, just to make certain. Wouldn't do to hurt a decoy.

Victor Creed has posed:
While the damage to the ship certainly brought out some interest, it also ensured that the ship cannot take back off again. Which, as far as Victor is concerned, is a good thing. His telltale grin appears, fangs out over his lips, as he turns and makes his way rather directly towards the ship itself. There can be no real mistaking the purposeful stride he is taking towards its mooring spot.

Yes, there are plenty of men in black suits. That is what makes the sport of it. And the sniper? Well, he can deal with that later. His eyes scan, searching out the money mark.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
"This is going to be messy. Sheesh, I have a reputation, S.T. Must you?" She can see him, her other eye open and keeping an eye on the secondary. Yes, Sabertooth is a secondary right now. She's got her eye on the prize after all.

She can't tell though, if he's the real target. Could be his attache, the guy who holds his dick when he's too lazy to pee on his own. Or an uncle. "Shit." She pauses, lifting her head from the scope, and bites her lower lip. She really, really needs him to act a bit, see what happens.

Which is lucky since that's when the enemy troops spot the incoming hairball. "Down!" one calls, and pistols are drawn. The potential target hits the deck, but nobody tackles him.

"That is so not him," Jade snorts. No guard worth his salt would let the main protectee run free right now. He's gotta still be in the ship.

Victor Creed has posed:
That response seems to be exactly what Sabretooth was counting on. His approach was entirely too obvious to be subtle, and as soon as the guns come out and the decoy drops, he takes off at a run. Arms behind him to let the trenchcoat fall by the wayside, he is wearing a pair of jeans and a vest with a shirt underneath. One might think it be tac gear, but Victor doesn't need such things. He barely takes an effort to avoid the aim of the pistols, taking enough of a run to make a super human leap towards the boat, up high and over those closest to the railing.

He is headed below deck as well, and hoping to evade the gunmen along the way.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
Jade watches Victor do his leap, appreciating the physicality involved. "Fuck me," she says, folding the clip over her scope. Wouldn't do to be seen reflecting light right now. Then, when Sabertooth smashes into the boat, she sighs. "I shoulda done the work. You got this one, Ace."

Still, she puts her feet up and watches. She glances at the fourth wall, then shrugs. "What? I'm not -leaving-. I might still get off a shot."

Then she goes back to watching an artist at work, as Sabertooth tears the boat a new asshole. And a hole he can enter through.

Victor Creed has posed:
There is a certain upheaval on the boat as Sabretooth vaults the guards. They whirl around, but he is already moving below decks, a few shots let loose in his passing. As they scramble to pursue, the decoy hops up and joins in on the chase.

Off to the side, as soon as Victor goes under, there is a quiet splash as three bodies slip out of a side port that opens quickly, and is then pulled tight by one poor soul remaining in.

It is abundantly clear to anyone outside that the two men on either side of the man in the middle are far more accomplished swimmers. But he has the advantage of weight to keep him floating.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
"Hrm," Jade says as she puts her elbows on her knees, leaning forward to watch the ongoing carnage. She almost misses the side port opening, the show being just that good. "I swear, he leaves more of his own blood on a site than his target'swhooops! Hello there!" Jade pulls her mask down over her face then, and leaps down from the rocks she'd been hiding upon. No time for a rifle now, this is more of an up close and personal moment.

After all, she isn't one to ignore the very obvious success the tactic had just had, and Creed's sterling example. Also if he continues he'll pass behind some rocks, and you just know that water ruins bullet trajectories.

As she moves, quickly and quietly, she just keeps an eye on the ship. She does not want to have to actually fight that guy for the mark.

Tight quarters on the ship, for someone with Creed's shoulders, make it hard to really move properly. It's a good thing that he doesn't care much about leaving the ship intact. There are still some men hiding in rooms, guns drawn, and a bullet or two lodge in the wall behind him.

Too scared to even shoot straight. This is way too easy.

Victor Creed has posed:
As the men in the water swim towards the shore, the men in the boat swim in...something else. There are screams, and some gunfire, but all of it quiets remarkably fast. The port escape is not noticed by Victor, but the fact that the target is not in the boat is picked up on fairly quickly.

Cheshire certainly has the edge of position, but before too long Victor emerges from the way he came. As she expects, covered in blood. Little (if any) of it his.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
Cheshire, because that's who this is now, lands on the sands just as Victor emerges. She's launching herself, at speed, flashing along the sand toward the location that the guys are landing. She grins beneath her mask, the adrenaline driving her forward.

"Okay then, let's dance big boy," she murmurs. She doubts he'll hear, but the dance will happen anyway.

The sword that appears in her right hand feels right. This is the tool I'll use, tonight. And she turns her eyes forward to the three men coming out of the water.

"Mine."

Victor Creed has posed:
The thing about Sabretooth is that he is not necessarily possessive. He was hired to take out the Senator. As long as he dies tonight, he gets paid. So if the cute little green ninja wants to take out the target for him, that's just less work on his part.

Another long leap takes him from the boat towards the shore, as he watches Cheshire engage. Perhaps it is his turn to be a mere spectator this time, his attention mostly focused on ensuring that the trio do not escape. He assumes that she can handle the matter, but he does need to make sure it is. And that after she does?

Maybe he will find another more interesting way to play.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
?

Cheshire sees him stand back, not engage. She raises an eyebrow, but doesn't argue the point. Instead she turns her full attention to the guys on the shoreline. One pulls a knife, another unwraps a pistol from a waterproof wrap. One reason why Chesh was going for speed. Guns aren't kept ready underwater, if she can engage fast she can avoid having to deal with bulletholes.

In her nice shirt. I like this shirt.

The knife slashes, and she leans back allowing it to pass over her. "Nice. But slow." Then she's behind him, and past the guy with the gun who shoots where she WAS.

Sabretooth would see her slice once, and then run past them all. Then she's behind a rock herself, as the Senator slumps toward the ground.

She is efficient, apparently. Didn't touch the guards at all.

Victor Creed has posed:
Indeed, Sabretooth is focused on her performance. "Well played," he murmurs to himself as he starts to head over in the direction of the fight that was. He glances to see the Senator going down, and knows that work is now over. For the most part. How much effort are the guards going to put into it, now that their charge has been killed, and their enemies are...well, far more skilled than they are.

His attention moves entirely towards the ... ninja? Whatever it is that Jade is. He starts towards the rock that she has hidden herself behind, paying no attention at all to the guards. Hopefully they are wise enough to take advantage of that.

"So how many people wanted this guy offed?" he calls out towards her. Curious, of course.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
She isn't there. She's trying to get an angle on Sabertooth, get a bit of surprise on him. Upward, another rock. His sense of smell would easily give her position away though, so when she answers it's not even startling. "I only had the one job. Lot of political work lately though." She's looking down, her sword conspicuously absent from her hand. But it'll be around, just in case this goes south. "You here to take me out now?"

She's being cautious. Smart in this line of work.

Victor Creed has posed:
"Only if you want me to," replies Sabretooth, not seemingly to be too alarmed by her movements. Her ability to move around unnoticed, her voice coming from each of the new places. "If so, we can talk. I'm not a cheap date."

He watches the guards go high tailing it out of there, and then moves over towards the Senator. It would seem, at least to all appearances, that he is not tracking Jade at all. But that could just be a feint.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
The mask conceals, and she doesn't move to remove it. Still, when she's been spotted she stops being tricky. Doesn't leap down either though. Don't give up an obvious advantage. "I only kill what I'm paid to. This gets me good for a while." She doesn't seem to be lying, scent tracks being very good at spotting that kind of thing. She smells slightly indignant at the question, actually.

"Besides, me and you? At this range?" She doesn't even finish the thought. It's obvious, really.

Victor Creed has posed:
"Ah, guess you had a better client than mine. This barely covered the cab fare, but I wanted to get some stretching in." As if to emphasize that, Victor does stretch out, his arms and legs going long, and the claws appearing from his fingertips.

Her next statement, though. "You trying to say you and I wouldn't work out? Yeah, I hear that a lot." He shrugs a bit. "That's the problem with being an alpha predator, it's lonely at the top."

Jade Nguyen has posed:
Jade adjusts herself, not answering immediately. She frowns behind the mask, then lifts it so her face can be seen. She looks a bit confused. "I thought you were threatening me, actually," she explains. "What, do you need help getting paid more? Because seriously, I can't see anyone shafting you on a bill." More than once, she adds mentally.

"Besides, who says I'm not a predator? I'm tempted to get upset at that comment." But her body language says that she's not planning to fight, not at all. Though, she has slipped something into her left hand.

"You want to work together?" Hm. Thoughts.

Victor Creed has posed:
There is a bit of a laugh from Sabretooth. "If I wanted you dead, you'd just be dead." He shrugs a bit, seeming somewhat nonchalant about the topic of conversation. "And I have plenty of money holed up. Been doing this a while. Just noting that this one gig, wasn't particularly high for me." Another shrug. "But I have to keep the skills fresh, y'know?"

At her assertion tat she is a predator, Victor gives her a solid once over. And then a seccond over. "I dunno. Predator, maybe. Alpha, not sure. Apex, definitely not."

He does not pay much attention to her left hand, a certain overconfidence on display. "What'd you have in mind?" He looks her over, a third time.

Jade Nguyen has posed:
The eyes look left for a moment, the green eyes thinking. She has yet to move, still keeping herself ready. She does not argue the judgement, but she also doesn't give away any more than Creed has already seen. No freebies here. "I work when I'm hired to work. Not sure how we'd even work that out. Do you keep active on the forums?" She doesn't know how he gets hired for his jobs, but she's never even seen one advertised for 'cab fare'. The concept is bewildering.

"I generally work alone," she adds. It sounds fairly firm. But she might reconsider, given the right situation.

Victor Creed has posed:
The question seems to confuse Sabretooth as well. "I have an agent, they broker all the deals. They probably rob me on the percentages, but they're good at getting leads, and I don't have to deal with the bullshit." He shrugs again. "But we'll have to have a chat about this one. I don't like being double booked with another assassin. Gets messy."

He nods at her comment. "Yeah, I don't go for the team thing much myself. But hey, in this case, we both accomplished our goal, so..."

Jade Nguyen has posed:
Jade grins, then pulls down her mask. "We did the job, so we get paid. Ask about those percentages though," She says, as she backs away. Then his ears would hear her footsteps. Subtle, almost silent. She is good. Might even be able to stay alive, in this business.
