A Shocking Turn of Events
Date of Scene: 03 May 2020
Location: Museum of Art
Synopsis: Cat breaks into a museum only to find she wasn't the first one there.
Cast of Characters: J'onn J'onzz, Felicia Hardy

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
The green stone that is not an emerald, the alien jewel that was found by a group of archeologists whilst digging in some unknown desert, an object that, by some people, is alien in nature. An object that, right now, is located in the exact center of a top security vault, under a museum in New York. If the explosionproof walls and doors wern't enough, the laser sensors inside the room, the six guards with automatic weapons out of the door, and the various cameras pointed towards the jewel could, for some, be enough to protect the object, something that some people would want to own for themselves, and something that almost noone should have, not on this planet, at least. Though, this truth, for now, is unknown except to a single person that is floating, intangible and invisible, just in front of the jewel located on its circullar platform, under the reinforced glass, in the center of the vault.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"Impossible," Jake had said. "Don't even bother to try it. You'll just get caught." Jake had a way with words, though, and he used them to lure the Black Cat more often than she might care to admit.

Not that Cat had any secret desire to own this jewel. She had no more NEED of it than any of the others she has locked away. It was just the fact that it is /impossible/ to get in. Impossible to steal. Impossible to get away with the whole scheme. And so Cat had spent weeks examining every angle and every blueprint. Every security plan she could get her hands on. After all, NOTHING is impossible.

And so it is that tonight, a woman in a patent leather catsuit has been making her way unseen through corridors toward the secure vaults below the museum. Once she gets closer, she'll know more about what she is dealing with, and what it will take to achieve the "impossible."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
The corridors leading to the vault are empty, noone patrolling except for a single, bored, whistling guard with an electric torch and a quite old uniform on a body that could be old too. But in front of the vault itself, six men stand, three to each side, with submachine guns in hand, the uniform of some private security company, and various expressions on faces that range from youthful to veteranly aged.
"all this security for a fake emerald? Seriously?" "Shut up, Mike." "but..." "shut up, Mike, they're paying you to stand watch not for complaining every five fucking seconds about the fact your pretty face can't be out clubbing tonight." "hey I wasn't" "shut up!" And that's the atmosphere.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
At the end of the hallway outside the vault, there's a commotion. It sounds like a a set of luggage is falling down the stairway, one piece at a time. It's loud enough, crashing at odd intervals, as something definitely seems to be tumbling chaotically.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
The six men freeze at the noise, then one of them, probably the leader barks out "Ramirez, Bickerstaff, go check that..." and two of the six, still wielding their weapons, proceed towards the noise, leaving the remaining four in front of the door.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
It's is about that time when something sounds at the end of the other hallway. The sounds of a dozen or more men in heavy boots ascends the stairway at the other end of the hall from the clatter that is still going on in the first stairwell. As Ramirez and Bickerstaff enter the first stairwell, the door shuts and locks behind them. More clattering and tumbling sounds start a floor or two below them.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"Bickerstaff, Ramirez, what wa..." the leader of the group, glances towards another pair of his colleagues "Lester, take Harryson with you and go see if we are having an army coming down here..."
and the men start being nervous, at least the wwo remaining in front of the door, with their weapons ready and aimed in front of them. And ready to fire, as announced by the click of the safety being disengaged.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
As Lester and Harryson disappear into the stairwell where the sounds of booted men approach, there are the sounds of screams and gunfire. Two floors above, Harryson and Lester find themselves strung up, upside down, ziptied, gagged, and hanging beside an elaborate sound system that is playing the sounds of battle that echo up and down the hallways and stairwells. The Black Cat holds up a finger to her lips and shushes them silently, with a wink.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"Hey James remind me, why didn't we get radios?" "because we wern't supposed to separate and the signal is shitty down here anyways..." "well, what should we do?" "check that out." "and leave the door unguarded?" "it'd take a damn tank to blast these doors open, lets go check that stuff out!" and that's how the two remaining guards start creeping towards the noises, ready to fight opponents that arn't there.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
The two remaining guards are snared the moment they enter the stairwell, and the sounds of battle above them stop. Hanging upside down, now, these two are bound and gagged, as well. "Next time, go for the radios," Cat says as she gives them a toodle-fingered farewell. She emerges from the stairwell and approaches the door. It may take a tank to knock it down, but it only takes someone with the right set of skills to open it. After all, there is no one left to catch her now. Right?

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
The room looks empty enough, with the cameras, and the laser security system, forming the last line of defense to the wonderful jewel enchased in reinforced glass. The cameras, though, seem to all have been turned off, somehow? So the lasers are the only real obstacle, something that could be bypassed with the right amount of acrobatics, probably.
And J'onn is still floating in front of the jewel, still invisible though.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Something isn't right. The jewel should be on video at all times. It should be guarded heavily, even if it is inside the vault. Cat is cautious, and she takes one slow step inside, and then another.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
If J'onn is surprised to see the black cat, it surely doesn't show, even because he is completely unseen. And his senses allowed him to notice everything happening in the building during Cat's approach. Right now, though, the obstacle that separates him from the jewel is a glass chasing that he doesn't want to break, chase that is locked with a quite complex lock that J'onn is currently picking thanks to his telekinesis. And that's why, what will be visible, is the chase opening quietly, the ring floating upwards, quickly turning before returning to its position, the chase closing and locking again with a small click.
And that while the original jewel is, securely stored, in one of J'onn's pockets, while a simple, false, emerald ring is in its place.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"Well...I'll be damned," exclaims Cat breathlessly, as she watches what is going on. Floating jewels can only mean that someone is making them float. "All right, you're busted. Might as well show yourself. I know you're here, and I don't wanna get caught any more than you do."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"but you won't get caught, Felicia, nor will I..." a voice calmly replies coming from an unidentified place near the ceiling. "congratulations for getting in here, I had no doubts, honestly... The jewel, though, is not something humans could understand, not yet... Take what is in the chase if you want, but know that it is of no value" the voice says, moving towards the doors.
And it looks very similar to the voice of detective Jones.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Cat blinks slowly, looking about for the voice. The notion that she got this far seems to be enough. She has no further desire to take whatever it is that she has found. The voice, though. That intrigues her. "And I suppose that YOU would understand it?" She asks the question into thin air, since she cannot see him

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
The answer has to be waited for what could be five seconds, then it comes with a simple "I do... I will whipe away the recent memories of those poor guards, and let them return to their post, unaware. Please, leave the room before they come back, Felicia." and then the door opens, J'onn invisible as he is passes through them, and probably goes to do what he just announced!

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Cat tilts her head. This will warrant more investigation. She will find him again. But for now, she will give him the same space he has afforded her in the past. To do what he needs to do. To come out unscathed. Cat sneaks out of the vault and escapes the way she came in. Somewhere inside, a handful of guards are soon reinstalled, none the wiser.
