Will There Be Needles
Date of Scene: 09 May 2020
Location: R and D Labs: Triskelion
Synopsis: Clint takes Oliver and Vanessa to have Jemma examine Vanessa. The verdict? Mutant!
Cast of Characters: Clint Barton, Oliver Queen, Vanessa Carlysle, Jemma Simmons

Clint Barton has posed:
Vanessa and Ollie had wanted to find out more about Vanessa's abilities, what they were, why they were happening now, all of that. Though they also wanted to keep things relatively quiet. They already had the Chinese mob after them, no sense letting it get out there how potentially valuable and dangerous Vanessa's powers could become. So, he went with someone he could trust Jemma Simmons. Oh sure, she shot him with the first ICER bullet, but she was good people and he hoped she might be able to tell them all more about what was going on with Vanessa.

So, at the appointed time, Clint checks Ollie and Vanessa through security at the Triskelion and leads them down to the labs, taking care to take less travelled routes, since they didn't know how Vanessa learned what she learned from people exactly, and he didn't want to complicate this little visit by having her locked up for knowing things she wasn't supposed to know.

Oliver Queen has posed:
It hadn't taken long for Ollie and Vanessa to make their way here. With the Hyperloop and all that. One of the best inventions of this age for sure. So at the agreed time he was making his way in. He was in a suit, sure, but nothing too fancy, just normal grey, white shirt, open jacket. And not even a tie! So casual. But he was here to meet with an old friend, and to hopefully be able to discern more on the mystery around Vanessa's powers.

He was indeed somewhat nervous, first due to coming to the SHIELD facilities themselves, then for Vanessa and what the answers they could find might mean. Regardless, he did offer Vanessa a reassuring smile when they walked in the place, greeting Clint with that arm-shake of old friends. "Impressive." he says of the sheer size of the facilities while they walk in towards the labs.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa had had a nervous energy in the two days leading up to hearing Clint's scientist friend was willing to try to figure out what was going on with her. A lot of time spent in the room, looking out the window and hugging the giant teddy bear from Coney Island. Or working out, burning off some of that energy with the skills that she had grown used to having. But who knew what might be revealed, or what might change, as a result of the visit to SHIELD.

It was her first time seeing the facility in anything other than a news clip. There was a lot of peering around and gawking at the outside, until Clint had led them into the bowels of the facility along back routes. She walks into the room behind Clint, wearing a pair of slacks and a adobe red blouse that leaves her shoulders bare and has cutouts on the arms. Something with a vaguely Southwestern feel that she'd picked up for Cinco de Mayo.

As they step into the labs, Vanessa peers around a bit wide-eyed at all of the facilities. "Are there going to be needles?" she asks softly. Then again, in an even softer voice to herself, "I hate needles."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
With recent activity, it was really a crapshoot as far as where exactly Jemma would have been located at in the Trisk. She could have been in the Medical wing, under bedrest for rather obvious reasons...those being of taking a crossbow bolt to the upper left thigh. Or, she could be in the labs, because that is where Jemma is usually at.

This time, the winner is the laboratories. For two reasons. One, because Jemma has research that needs to be completed, regardless of how injured the medical wing thinks she is. And two, because she knows exactly how injured she is...and what can be done to hasten the recovery. The medical wing found out quickly that Jemma is not one to be trifled with.

As so, Jemma is in her lab. She is sitting, with her weight on her right side, the left with as little weight as possible. A pair of crutches are leaning against the table she sits at, while her eyes are upon the tablet before her. With the labcoat on, there is hardly any sign that there was anything wrong, as the bandage upon her leg is obscured, for the most part.

Those brown eyes lift up as visitors step into the lab. "Yes? How can I help...Oh, Agent Barton! What a pleasant surprise!" Jemma remains seated...but the smile for Clint is there, warm and inviting. "I wasn't expecting anyone in, so this is truly a surprise." Those brown eyes flicker back to the other two with Clint. "Who are your friends?"

Clint Barton has posed:
"Yeah, it's pretty fancy around here," Clint says with a grin to Ollie as they make their way down the corridors of the Trisk. As for the needles thing, "Probably a few, sadly," he says. "Even with all this tech we still haven't found a way to draw blood without it," he says. Though he supposed if it was just DNA they were after a mouth swab might do the trick, though that was up to Jemma.

Walking into the lab, Clint registers surprise at Jemma's surprise, "Heya Jemma, are we early, I asked Jenkins to set up a visit with you for my friend here. Or did he lose the paperwork again?" He did. Jenkins was one of R&D's adminions and not a very good one at that!

Clint pushes a hand through his short blonde hair, "Anyhow, this is Oliver Queen and Vanessa Carlyle, friends of mine from Starling City, ones who have some questions I thought you might have answers to. And Ollie, Vanessa, this is Doctor Jemma Simmons, one of the brightest minds in SHIELD R&D."

Oliver Queen has posed:
Ollie simply grins when Clint mentions SHIELD being fancy. "That's one way to put it." he comments in good humor. Though even if there was that faint smile to his features and apparent good disposition there was also a telltale sign of tension on those broad shoulders, focused. He knew this wasn't exactly doing things the 'legal' and 'right' way. Being a vigilante he was used to it, but others in the building might not find their presence here welcome at all.

Those thoughts fade as they enter the lab, Oliver taking in the neatness and high-tech of it all. Rather impressive indeed, then finally taking note of Jemma, a cursory inspection and then he approaches. "Good morning, Doctor Simmons." he extending one hand towards the woman. "It is my pleasure. Clint had only good things to speak of you."

He then takes a step aside, looking towards Vanessa with a warmness in his gaze.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle takes the news about the likelihood of needles like a trooper. A now slightly more glum trooper, but a trooper just the same. She reaches over to rest a hand against Oliver's side as if for emotional support over the needle thing, but then the introduction to Jemma Simmons is taking her attention.

"Hello Doctor Simmons. Sorry if we've caught you by surprise," Vanessa says as she hears about the scheduling snafu. "If this isn't a good time we could come back?" she offers, but one can probably read in Vanessa's expression that nervousness, which seems less to do with needles than the cause of their visit.

The 25 year old young woman glances over to Oliver for a moment, her hand brushing just slightly before she looks back to Jemma to say hesitantly, "Clint had said you might be able to shed some light on something happening with me." The young woman gives a little side to side bob of her head before continuing, "I sort of... seem to be picking up things from Oliver. Like... knowing the names of people he knows that I've never met or heard of. Knowing stories about his mother's china, or childhood memories of his sister. And... some of his athletic ability too. My dart-throwing suddenly just," Vanessa says and makes a gesture with her hand suitable for the words that follow, "shot right up where I'd never been that great at the game."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
There is a rolling of the eyes as Jemma pushes on the edge of the table, rising to her feet (or, rather, foot in this case) before tucking a crutch under her left arm. "Jenkins. Of course. No, I am afraid he quite muddled up that request." The other crutch is retrieved, then Jemma makes her way over to greet her guests. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr Queen." The soft spoken Doctor offers a smile as her British sensibilities shine through. "Please, feel free to make yourself comfortable."

Brown eyes shift towards Vanessa next. "Oh no! Please, now is a perfectly fine time!" The doctor's bedside manner takes over, working to make Vanessa comfortable. "So, Agent Barton has been talking about me, hmm?" There is a pause as Vanessa explains what is going on, with Jemma listening intently...only speaking when Vanessa is finished. "So...you are experiencing shared aspects with Mr. Queen?" Never the first name spoken on the first meeting. "Knowing some of his memories? Sharing some of his athletic ability? How interesting." That...has Jemma's attention.

A glance over to Clint. "You're thinking this might be an ability that Ms. Carlysle has developed? A biological component that is driving this shared state?" After all, why else would Clint think of Jemma? There is a second to ponder...then a smile slowly grows as Jemma nods to both Oliver and Vanessa. "Yes...I believe I may have some tests we can pursue to determine what exactly is happening, if you two wouldn't mind?"

There's a problem to solve...and Jemma seems eager to solve it.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint waits to one side as hands are shaken and Vanessa brings Jemma up to speed on her situation, though it's Jemma's question about Clint talking about her that Clint answers first, "Only good things," he assures her with a hint of a smirk. "Why else would we be here."

"And yeah, that's my thinking, I mean this has to be a power right? I've heard of couples being in synch but this is a bit next level," he says with a grin for the couple. "Figured you'd be the one to ask to look into it, all I've got to offer is wild ass guesses about what exactly makes all of that possible."

Oliver Queen has posed:
The caring manner in which Jemma addresses Vanessa appears to please Oliver, his smile deepening, one hand brought up to rest soothingly upon Vanessa's shoulder while she explains the 'symptoms' of what she has been going through. The mention of 'increased dart-throwing' makes his free hand to be brought to his lips, a mix of a cough and a chuckle there. Is he amused? Well, Oliver Queen can do more than brood!

"And I have gained none of her own skills or knowledge, to my own regret." he then says about Clint's comment about couples being in synch, a squeeze on the woman's shoulder.

"Though of course, I am open to whatever tests need to be done. Even needles..." Yes, he is a big boy, he can take it.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle confirms Clint has said only good of the good Doctor Simmons to them, with a nod of her head. She looks to Oliver and gives a soft, warm laugh. "Like knowing which paths home through New Lots avoid the discarded needles the most is a useful skill to have," she tells Oliver in a fond enough voice.

The brunette's gaze swings back to Jemma Simmons. "Yes, we didn't really know what might be causing it. But it seems to just be me. The memories... some of them just sort of pop up on their own. Others are there if I consciously start trying to think about them, I realize they are there and remember them," she says. "We've known each other a couple of months now. It only started in the last, what, month and a half or... maybe two months. It took a little while to realize it was happening. At first I just kind of wrote it off that I'd heard him mention something before, or whatever," Vanessa says.

She glances around at the assortment of medical and research gear in the lab. "So you think you might be able to figure out what's going on?" Vanessa says, sounding hopeful after Jemma gives the optimistic answer. "If so, it would really be nice to understand it. I mean, getting to know him like this is wonderful. Just... wondering what's going on and why, you know?"

Jemma Simmons has posed:
The mention of needles does bring a soft smile to Jemma's lips. "Oh, I think we can skip the needle prods for at least the time being. Though, I would need to take a DNA sample from each of you, if that is agreeable?" Jemma tilts her head over towards her workstation, which is certainly rife with technological marvels. "We do have a fairly basic genetic screening test that SHIELD uses when vetting potential agents. It looks for the usual vectors for potential super-human abilities. Things like the X-gene, extraterrestial genomes, genetic deviation due to exposure to different radiations...that sort of thing." She hobbles her way over towards a rather common-appearing piece of machinery. "We can use this polymerase chain reaction sequencer here to compare your genetic samples and see what we can see." It does look to have been used recently, at least in comparison to other pieces of equipment in Jemma's workspace. "Then, from there we can perform some other rudimentary tests. Anything extremely elaborate might require the use of Medical...but we should be able to get a baseline synopsis from here, without involving anyone else."

A glance to Clint betrays that Jemma suspects exactly why she was chosen for this particular experiment, rather than others. She is someone to be trusted...and trusted to keep secrets.

Clint Barton has posed:
As Jemma goes into her tech talk, Clint shoots a comforting look towards the couple as if to say, see, right person for the job. And more than just for her expertise, because Jemma is right, she was chosen because he could trust her to keep things secret. Especially if her very useful powers could be applied to more than just Oliver Queen, he didn't want to end up putting his friend's girl on some sort of list. Even with the good guys.

That glance is met with an answering one, and a tiny nod of his head, a quiet request that the records of this test sort of wander off.

"Anything you can tell us Jemma would be great," he says.

Oliver Queen has posed:
DNA testings. Needles. Sure, Oliver wasn't a stranger to medical exams. The thought of SHIELD having access to his, or Vanessa's though, that was enough to bring a certain tension to his shoulders once again. Even if they had indeed prepared for this before coming, and knew what it would take. He does look up at both Jemma, then to Clint, clear blue eyes watching each. But yes, in the end he would go with trusting his old friend. A nod is given.

"Yes, feel free to take the samples you need." he watches that hobbling a moment from Jemma but makes no comment, instead gently stepping forward along with Vanessa if she allows. It was time to go through with this. And hopefully some of the mystery would be lifted.

"Do you have any suspicion on what it may be just by the symptoms?" he questions. This kind of work, with powered people, has never been his field of expertise.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle has far less experience with groups like SHIELD than Oliver. Except for having Oliver's experience, though she still is loathe to call up too many of his memories for fear of learning secret identities and other things he might not wish revealed.

So if she feels some of Oliver's hesitance, it isn't as bad for her, at the least. But she knows it is there, her hand giving his shoulder a soft brush, and a grateful look flashed to the Starling City man that he's willing to through with is with her.

"Swabs, much better than needles," Vanessa agrees, the young woman's generally pleasant demeanor showing in the smile she gives Jemma. She cooperates with the collection, adding to Oliver's question with, "Yes, is this something anyone else has ever had before?" she asks. Vanessa glances to Oliver and says, a little sheepishly, "I've wondered if maybe the emotional connection has something to do with it," she says.

Vanessa looks over to Clint, giving him a grateful smile. "Thank you for setting this up for us, Clint," she tells him. "It'll put my mind at ease, hopefully, to at least understand it."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"Regrettably, not. It isn't a common affliction. It doesn't hold true with repressed memories, since these memories that Ms. Carlysle is experiencing are not her own. However, this genetic screening will reduce the number of variables that it could be, Mr. Queen." With that, Jemma reaches over and obtains a couple of swabs. "It really could be an biological explanation. I have seen many different individuals, with strange and wondrous abilities. Some were inate. Some needed a catalyst to unlock their potential. Even others exposed to forces beyond the edge of general understanding. And....every single one of them different. This may be unique to just you alone, Ms. Carlysle, which will make this little problem all the more difficult to solve." Then...a small smile. "And that is what makes this exciting..."

With the swabs out, Jemma takes her samples, first from Oliver and then from Vanessa. Then, placing the crutches down besides the table once more, Jemma takes her seat on a wheeled stool and rolls her way over to the sequencer. The quick little motion betrays the bandaged thigh, with a brace to keep it as immobile as possible...the source of her hobbling. As Jemma reaches the machine, there is a quick couple keystrokes on the computer monitor beside the machine. Clint may recognize the command, possibly, as being the authorization to isolate the R&D labs from the network at large. This test....is not going to go out of the room.

Then...the testing begins. Samples are inserted and it is only a couple of minutes longer before Jemma peers over the results, that small smile of hers widening as the DNA models line up. Seems she has an answer.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint gives both Ollie and Vanessa a warm smile, "Hey, we're friends, glad to help get you guys some answers, and Jemma, well, she's the best at that."

There's a nod to Jemma there as well and the praise sounded genuine. "And I know that look, what did you find?" he asks the young scientist as she begins to grin.

Oliver Queen has posed:
A nod is given at the mention of it not being repressed memories. They had discussed about this in the past, and it was certainly something that left the realm of the mundane. But such was the world they lived in. Wondrous and filled with possibility for people with abilities. For the better and the worse.

Oliver returns Vanessa's look, seeing the gratitude there and inclining his head. Yes, he was willing to do what it took. Which was surprisingly a lot less painful than they could had imagined. Just a swab? Fine with him! But he also grins when Vanessa mentions an emotional connection. "Perhaps it's like Dr. Simmons says, might have been a catalyst to unlock your potential. Specially if you had never felt anything of the sort before." Once the samples are collected he reaches to take Vanessa's hand, holding it in a gentle manner while they let the resident doctor go about her work. He does watch the proceedings though, attentive. Yes, he trusted his old friend, and Jemma seemed trustworthy just as well. But there's just some paranoia that can't be taken away from this man.

"I will be owing you one, Clint." He then tells the other archer, "Well, one more that is." a brief laugh. But then Jemma starts smiling and his attention is back on the scientist. He doesn't know her that well though. Is that the good smile?! Hopefully.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa has moved over to Oliver's side after the swab, leaning against him gently. Seeking out his presence in her nervousness as she watches Jemma Simmons working their results through the computer processing. Her fingers lace with Oliver's when he takes her hand. Her own grip is a little more firm, betraying the bundle of taut emotions inside on what the results might show. Like a tumor. A memory-stealing, dart-playing absorbing tumor. That would be just her luck!

"Both of us owing you," Vanessa agrees as she smiles over at Clint. "Might have to let you win in darts," she says, bringing up a teasing smile even if her eyes quickly go back to Jemma on the computer, watching for results. When Vanessa sees that smile her posture straightens even more from it's normal, proper state. "Did you... find something? Something not bad?" she asks. No tumor. No tumor.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
The stool swivels around as Jemma's bright smile is directed towards the three visitors. "Oh, quite a lot, actually, Agent Barton. Quite a lot indeed!"

Then, right back around to the monitor as Jemma lays out the results. A quick keystroke and a larger screen comes to life, mirroring the display before Jemma as she shifts into explanatory mode. "Oh, nothing bad at all, Ms. Carlysle." Two DNA models, double helix and all, float on the screen, coupled with all sorts of biological notations below. But....it is to the models that Jemma directs everyone's attention. "The one on the left is Mr. Queen. The one on the right is Ms. Carlysle. Now, when looking at it with the model here, there are certain similarities that would either suggest that you two are related. And...I don't mean distantly...but immediate family. Almost as if you two are twins. But only certain segments, for now." A cursor highlights a particular difference...a section of DNA that is most assuredly different, with Vanessa's model rather more intricate than Oliver's. "Now, this section here. This is where we would normally find the extra gene responsible for genetic mutation. The X-gene, if you will. The X is for extra." Basic explanations aside, Jemma continues. "Now, Oliver doesn't have the extra gene here, while Vanessa does. This would tell me that Vanessa is, in layman's terms, a mutant. This is a biological deviance, true...but an evolutionary deviance, not an extraterrestrial one."

Without pausing, Jemma shifts onward to power speculation. "Now, with that being said, it still doesn't immediately identify what exactly Vanessa's powerset is. But....the fact that the DNA strands are similar in places where they simply should not be, I may be able to venture a guess." A cursor points to a segment where both models are similar. "This particular cluster of genomes here, in Oliver's model. These are patently male. As in, they really only show up in the male populace. But...over here, Vanessa has the same cluster. And, not only that...but the proportions are nearly identical to Oliver's." But...what does it mean?

The chair swivels around as Jemma looks Vanessa directly. "Now, I can't be certain without further testing....but from this alone, it would appear to me that your ability is to be able to form yourself into a duplicate of another...down to the cellular level. A carbon copy, if you will. I mean, we could do one other test to solidify that theory...but really...the results here are too alike to not consider that possibility."

All of that from one genetic test? And...the fact that Jemma dropped her normal use of proper names to use first names? The biochemist is definitely excited if she forgot her manners...

Clint Barton has posed:
Whoo that was a roller coaster, for a moment it sounded like this was going to be some sort of big Jerry Springeresque reveal, that Vanessa was some long lost love child of Robert Queen, but then the plot thickens as the mutant element comes into play.

"Wow, so then what's happening now is just the start of that? Given enough time she will turn into Oliver?" okay that may actually be more awkward than the twins thing!

Oliver Queen has posed:
First rule of archer club!

Never let them know who wins at darts! But it does bring a grin at a certain memory of a contest when Vanessa mentions letting Clint win in darts. But he has no time to put in his own comment on it, his eyes focusing entirely on Jemma when she begins her explanation. Her hand squeezes Vanessa's. A brow arches up at the mention of similarities in their DNA.

No X-Gene for him, that much he expected, sure. Just good, ol' normal Ollie! But then the explanation goes on, he watches with interest, following the explanation.

"A perfect copy both in terms of mind and physique?" that is indeed a different kind of powers that he is used to. But is he that surprised...? Not particularly. It is good to be sure though, even if he wasn't expecting the ..., becoming a perfect copy of another.

A nod is given to Clint's question, then he looks at Vanessa to watch her reaction about this revelation.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
There is a lot to take in from Jemma's explanation. At the mention that Vanessa is a mutant, her eyes go quickly to Oliver with a slightly fearful look in them at what she might see in his expression. It's more a statement of the strength her feelings for him and how it would devastate her if something came between them, than it is an expectation she'd find something in his reaction that he was troubled by the news about his girlfriend. Something she realizes the moment she sees his face, the young woman giving a soft, self-recriminating smile over it.

As more of the explanation plays out, the details of the science might be lost on the young woman who never finished high school. But Jemma's explanation does a great job of filling in the gaps. "So," Vanessa says slowly, "My body is copying his? Becoming like his?" she repeats to be clear she has it right. "I don't think I've been called a copycat since Mrs. Frost's 7th grade math class," she says, trying to inject some levity. "Which, ah, I /was/ copying off Billy Johnson on a test," Vanessa adds ruefully.

"What other test? Yes, if it'll shed more light," she says. And then Clint's comment causes her eyes to widen. "Is it going to keep going?" she asks. "Will I end up looking like him completely?" She looks over to Oliver, eyes worried as if thinking how he'd react to her looking like him.

Vanessa will readily take part in whatever test Jemma has for them next.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
A slow nod from Jemma is the answer that she gives Clint. "Well, not Oli, err, Mr. Queen specifically...but a copy of him? Perhaps. Although I do think that particular scenario will only happen if Ms. Carlysle makes the conscious decision to do so. I believe what we are seeing here is more of a subconscious change. Ms. Carlysle is still, by all outward appearances, herself. All of the changes that she has been noticing are more internal. The memories. The physical ability. Those are easier to accept...easier to conceal than an all out conversion. However...if you are asking me if it is possible? I would have to say yes."

There is a consideration as Jemma stares off at a wall. Or...rather, through it. A classic sign of Jemma thinking. "Hmm...I wonder." The scientist pushes off with her good leg, sending her rolling across the floor (and almost taking out people if they are not careful) to a black tactical backpack, from the looks of it. A hand tips in, pulling out a pair of seemingly nondescript glasses and a tablet. "These glasses allow me to see in various spectrums. Including a form of x-ray vision. Normally, we would use these to look for hidden weapons....but we could use it for medical purposes, too." Then, a glance to Oliver. "Do you have any particular previous injuries? Like a broken bone or something to that effect?" Then....a shifting to Vanessa. "Same question to you. Anything unique to you?"

The thought process is clear. Jemma intends to look at bone structure to see if there are hidden similarities there, as well. "With your permission, of course." Meaning....she isn't going to look if you don't want her to, for reasons.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint hops up onto one of the work surfaces to avoid being hit by the rolling chair. "Huh," he says without missing a beat. "That is some power," he says, though he's outwardly glad that Vanessa's change into Oliver wasn't inevitable, as long as Vanessa willed it not to be."

"The other question we had was, is it only Oliver she can do this with or is she able to mimic other people this way?" he asks.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Previous injuries? Broken bones? Oh, Oliver could go on for hours talking about those... As it stands, he goes for one of the first ones he took, when he found himself stranded on that island, had to hunt with an improvised spear and then ..., broken wrist. Could had been worst.. And he did get dinner.

"I do. Try the wrist.." he tells her, extending his left arm forward. Of course that if Jemma does take a more closer look at Ollie she may just find that the man's body has been a battlefield of it's own.

His eyes do go to Vanessa though, watching her, no loss in that reassuring smile or expression. Nope, he is not the type to scare easily, even if Vanessa could become just like him. "Could the world handle two of me..?" he tells her with a grin that is more meant to leave her at ease than not.

"But yes, I am imagining this isn't something that is just connected to me? She could 'will' it and connect with someone else?" He questions, looking at Clint.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa bites her lip and then nods. "Broken collarbone when I was little. Um, broken upper right arm. Bruised ribs," she says. "A little bit of a scar from a junkie who tried to mug me," she says, motioning with a hand towards the back part of her side, just above her hip.

Oliver's attempt to reassure her seems to work, getting a soft smile and some of Vanessa's normal warmth. "I don't know what to do with one of you," she agrees to Oliver.

Clint's question makes Vanessa wonder, based on her expression. "So it might not be... tied to emotions then. I guess you're the one I'm always with pretty much," she says. "The thought I can control it though..." Vanessa starts, sounding like she's not sure she could. But then she pauses. "Hmm. I... don't know. I do seem able to kind of control what memories are there. Or, maybe they are there anyway, but what ones I experience and become aware of. Though sometimes they just pop up, they tend to happen at moments something related to them is going on."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"Oh, with the dataset that we have currently, I couldn't answer that, Agent Barton." Jemma taps the glasses on the left corner, while also tapping an icon on the tablet now in her lap. Bluetooth technology in the glasses links up to the tablet, showing an image of what the glasses see on the tablet itself, which is standard for the moment. But...there are options. Infrared and ultraviolet in the list, certainly...but there is one marked X-Ray. That is the one Jemma selects. "Now, don't worry, this isn't really sending X-rays out." A pause...then a small, somewhat guilty smile. "Okay...just a little. Perfectly harmless, I assure you." The glasses are slipped on....and the tablet is handed to Clint. Essentially, what Jemma will see the rest will see. No secrets hiding here.

As Jemma starts her cursory scan, she feels the need to provide a little more exposition behind her theory. "I believe the reason why Ms. Carlysle is emulating Mr. Queen is because of their close proximity." She doesn't ask if they are staying together. The holding of hands was enough proof for Jemma to not have to ask that question. "Like I stated, I do believe it is a subconscious reflex presently...perhaps in effect to feel close to Mr. Queen." After all, you can't get much closer than actually being the other person, at least genetically. "The memories could be explained by identical brainwave activity. Memories are just stored electrical impulses after all." All the time, Jemma looks over the pair...as evident on the tablet's display.

"Ah...yes. Here, look." The tablet focuses on the wrist in question as Jemma reaches out, taking both Oliver's hand and Vanessa's hand....on the same side...and holds them side-by-side. "See this?" A digit that can only be Jemma's finger hovers in the view, pointing out the scar tissue and unique fusion of the wrist in Oliver. "It matches here." That floating digit of bone then drifts over to point out Vanessa's wrist with the same scarring. "And...while Ms. Carlysle does still shows evidence of her own breaks, those are not reflected with Mr. Queen's evidence of multiple episodes of abuse." If Oliver was watching Jemma, rather than the screen, he would have caught a knowing smile and maybe the slightest of winks. After all, hard to fool a medical doctor who sees that sort of thing all the time with the fellow archer in the room.

The glasses come off. "I do think that, with proper practice, it could possibly be controlled. It is a reflex now...but that can be refined. I have seen it before." The frames are tapped again, as the glasses power down. "Would you like me to perform any other tests? If you are uneasy about this sort of thing here, I could very easily come to you at a later time."

Did Jemma just offer to be on-call? It certainly sounded like she did...

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint takes the tablet shifting over so that both Vanessa and Oliver can look if they wish, Clint does, and nods when the break, something that he is indeed familiar with, is pointed out. "Wow, so it's a copy right down to the last detail."

He nods about the memories, "Guess that explains the physical skills like archery as well, if Vanessa, your body and mind are shifting to match Oliver's so completely."

He hmms, thoughtfully. "Weird to think of skills like that, but I guess that's what they really are, brain impulses, routes through the nervous system and trained muscle. Huh."

It was one of those perspective changing thoughts that he was going to muse about for awhile, though, he does smile when Jemma offers them her services on-call. Another reason he went to Jemma above anyone else, he had sort of hoped she'd adopt them.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Multiple episodes of abuse! But Oliver catches that wink from Jemma, unable to contain himself from smirking back. Yes, no fooling medical doctors. Specially good ones. "All that playing sports and being clumsy. You know how that can be..." he says, eyes following down to their wrists, then to the tablet when Clint shows it to them. He nods, "It would be impossible to be a complete match. So yes, seems like it's proven."

A glance is then given to Vanessa. "You mentioned willing yourself to become more of someone, that you haven't really tried. Do you think you could go back? Forgetting and becoming just yourself again..?" he asks, maybe something for them to try out eventually. Because there's nothing like playing 'blindly' with untested powers.

And he seems to agree fully with Clint. He had always considered repetition and hard training to be the best way to improve skills. This was ..., certainly a change in paradigm.

"Unless Vanessa wishes for another test I believe we'd be good for now but.., I'd certainly welcome your offer. You could always come visit us in Starling as well, if you'd like to visit the city sometime." his smile deepening, thankful about the aid being given.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle's mind has been racing, and whether she could get stuck in someone else's body is definitely something she's thinking about. "I should probably be careful. Maybe the first thing is see if I can undo what's already done, just to be sure each step further isn't a permanent one?" she agrees with Oliver.

Vanessa looks to Jemma as the woman offers further help to them. She moves over, and if Jemma allows, gently takes her hands in Vanessa's to squeeze them. "Thank you. Thank you so much," Vanessa says, wearing her emotions on her sleeve as to how much this new understanding means to her.

Vanessa looks to Oliver and says, "Maybe we could have them over for dinner, or take them both out somewhere? Clint and Doctor Simmons both. Really, you've done so much for us here. I think... I definitely need to figure out more. Gain control over it. It's really all kind of... overwhelming to be honest. But at least I have an idea and can make some choices now on what to do," she says gratefully.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"Oh, my pleasure! Happy to have helped!" Jemma does seem particularly pleased to have been able to provide some sort of answer. The comment of sport injuries does earn Oliver a raised eyebrow. Seems that the doctor may have some alternate theories on the origins of a number of those injuries. But...she keeps those to herself. instead, she turns to Clint. "Feel free to share my contact information."

Then, back to the pair. "Feel free to contact me whenever you feed the need." Then, another smile. "It truly has been a pleasure to meet you both."

Perhaps next time Jemma will graduate to first name basis.
