Field Trip in Metropolis
Date of Scene: 15 May 2020
Location: Eastside - St. Martin's Island
Synopsis: A field trip to a film site leads to a fire rescue
Cast of Characters: Michael Hannigan, Megan Gwynn

Michael Hannigan has posed:
It is an early Friday afternoon in mid-May. With classes still in session and the typical work day in full swing, there is not much of a crowd at the beaches of St. Martin. There is even less of a crowd at one pier which, after the proper paperwork was filed, has been roped off for a period of time for the day. At the outskirts of the barricade, a bus is parked and a few curious onlookers are staring at what appears to be an old late 1800s, early 1900s schooner set off in the distance. Or at least a very good mock up of one.

Giving a stark contrast, two other boats are actually at the dock, each one of which containing film equipment dotting the deck areas. And and the other seemingly set up with plenty of seats.

Mike Hannigan is already situated upon the boat with the seats, seated across from his cast mates, he is using the contents of a water bottletop wash down what was left of the boxed lunch that was provided during the break. Like his cast mates, he too seems to be part of the same era the boat in the distance appears to be from. His beard, made to look a little more ragged, paired with the gray white, he seems a bit, tired and much smaller than the burly dark jacketed man sitting beside him.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn is part of a school fieldtrip that came to this very pier to watch the filming of a really cool actor, whom Megan kinda knows (kinda sorta), which is extra cool. With any luck, she might even get an autograph too! (Super cool!).

If only there werent so many other people here alread, peering over the side at those really cool historical schooners. But it's still fun, it's a nice day, sunny and bright and warm. What more could you ask for?

Megs trails behind the others, peering over the railing at the boats. "Wooow, this is sooooo cool!" she reiterates.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Alright, We are in for a treat today," The assigned tour guide states to the small field trip group as he continues leading them past the rope, "We have gotten permission to come to an actual film location WHILE they're filming. Now, this is a mini series to a book called 'The Sea Wolf' which takes place almost entirely on the water. Most scenes they have managed to do in a sound stage but some scenes just don't quite work like that. To avoid spoilers I won't tell you what exactly goes on in the scenes they're going to film today. But I can tell you that they most likely will not be filmed in order because they have the sunlight to contend with."

The guide pauses, waving them onto the dock, "See the man with the yellow vest standing next to the door on that one boat?" Walk over and go through the door next to him. Another person will guide you to your seats."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn ooooohs, eyes widening, staring at the rope than at the tour guide then back to the rope. "Meepers! That's soooo cool! Ummm, does that mean we can tallk to the cast too? Yay!" she beams all excitedly, and if her wings weren't already flattened and hidden under her jacket, they'd probably be fluttering excitedly too.

Ooh, and it's a surprise too. So cool! She nodnods and follows the others towards the guy in the yellow vest. SO COOL!

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As the group comes to the guy in the yellow vest, he gestures towards the front of the boat where another series of seats lie. More ropes keep the group away from the back of the boat where the cast is located. "Alright, be sure to fill up the row from front to back. To the front. To the front."

The tour guide follows after the group, smiling to the vested man before moving up front. "Alright, before I give more details about the production. I will be going over the ground rules that allow for us to have this amazing experience. First off. Until the boat gets back to land, you are to stay in your seats at all times! That is for your safety and for those making the transfer to the set boat. That's right folks, you are not the only one using the boat's services today..."

As the tour guide goes into her long speil, explaining the rules and a basic explanation to who the hell Jack London is, the yellow vested man collects up the rope and slides the door shut while the boat starts to chug away from the dock.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles and wriggles as she waits in line. This is soooo cool! Although she pouts as he tells them to wait in their seats. "Yeah, yeah, I'll be a good girl.." mostly...Hehehehe...Hopefully she'll get to sit close enough to Mr. Hannigan to get his autograph! She already has her autograph book and pen handy and ready! Mweeheeehee..Now she just has to manage to get a seat close enough to the actor to talk to him!

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As the boat moves further from the dock and the exit points are secured, the yellow vested man wanders towards the back area of the boat where the staff and crew are relaxing. "Tour group's settled. Mainly teens."

The gruff man, who is easily twice as wide as Mike, older and rougher looking, clears his throat, brushing off his jacket. "Drago?" He glances over to Mike and then over to a woman dressed in what looks to be something raided from the men's wardrobe. "Moore?"

Mike gives a shrug, getting up from the seat, "Why not?" He turns, resting a hand on the back rest of the bench as he waits for the other two to get up.

With the trio standing, they cross through the center portion of the boat before the largest one of the group opens the door to the front part of the deck with a bang, going in to character as he scowls at the students. "The crew gets younger and younger each season..."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn pouts a bit as she waits to be ushered onto the boat. Then finally it's there, and they get to settle in. "Woow..." eyes go wide peering about this way and that. She catches (or attempts to) Drago's eye, smiling and waving at him. Does he even remember her from before?

But looks like they're starting to get into character or something, and she has to ask. "Ooh, so do we get to be part of the show? Cuz that'd be super cool!"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
The tour guide pauses in her presentation at the gruff entrance of the massive man, watching as he staggers in, glaring to the students. If she is upset by the interruption, she does not show it as she looks to the man who is seemingly checking to see if one of the male students even has enough muscle to manage a rope.

"Well it looks like we are in for an additional treat." She starts back up, smiling in realization, "Class, meet Bryant Wallace who plays Wolf Lawson, the captain that the crew of the Ghost fears so much."

She glances to the back, smile strengthening as she gestures to the pair still at the door, closing it after Wallace left it open. "We also have the rest of the primary cast as well. How nice of them to pop in on us!"

Mike glances to the class before the flash of pink draws his attention to Megan. He gives a smile and slight nod of acknowledgement to the tree 'climber'. He looks over to the one called Carolyn, gesturing for her to go before him.

"We thought we'd pop by and say 'hi' while the boat gets us to the set." Carolyn offers up in explanation, looking to the students, "I hope you're all doing well!"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn giggles and waves to him with a shy smile. Woooow, Dragon in the flesh. Of course she'd met him before, albeit awkwardly, both times. And the whole 'Tree Climber' title is still gonna stick, isn't it? Dammit.

"Yaaaay!" she cheers and waves to the other actors, giggles, "You guys are awesome! Can we get autographs later? Need any extras?" of course there are probably a lot of other students yelling out similar requests and she pouts a bit. Dammit, how's she ever gonna get his autograph at this rate?

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Unfortunately in regards to extras, all the positions were filled months ago." Carolyn replies, bringing her up a little to be heard over the shouted requests, "And you are also on the ship for the final round of takes for scenes that requires actually being filmed on water."

"But yes to the autograph question." Mike offers in consolation. Crossing his arms, hanging close to Carolyn.

"Alright everyone, you have met Wolf Larson." The tour guide starts up, "And over here we have Nick Drago, who plays Humphrey Van Weyden and Carolyn Moore who plays Maud Brewster. A pair of castaways who at different points of the story end up trapped on the Ghost."

The two give out a wave as each of them are introduced before joining with their other castmate, mingling with the tour group and doing autographs all while the tour guide tries to keep the boat ride educational.

Soon, the boat comes to a stop, coasting closer to the set. The trio make their leave as they make the transition over to the set boat along with a few camera men and several extras, all in period appropriate attire, With the exception of the Maud character and , to a lesser degree , Humphrey, they all appear to be a rather rough looking ship crew.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs a bit. Well of course they would have hired extras months ago. Heck, Megan probably applied but didn't get any response. Well bleh, there's always tomorrow right?

But she beams at the response on autographs. "Yay! This is soooo cooool, even if I don't get to be an extra.." she makes a face but pulls out her autograph book and waits (im)patiently for them to make their rounds to her.

"Ooooooo I looooove the costumes. So cool!"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As everyone is settled, to their respective spots and the boat with the trip ends up reorienting itself, granting the group a better of the set. The group is urged to hush whenever there's a shout for quiet from the director.

Prior to the group leaving, Megan did get a few autographs from the trio. And in a manner very much in character, Bryant's autograph is much larger than Nick or Carolyn's.

Several takes of scenes are made and eventually the boat comes back around, pulling off more people from the stage ship until Nick, Bryant, and a couple of camera men shift over to the far end of the ship, angling the camera to focus on just the pair arguing.

With the ship engine cut off, the audience drifts further away from the boat.

"I have been informed that Mr. Wallace and Drago are filming the last scene that's needed on the boat" The tour guide states lowly, giving an explanation to the group in between takes, "Once the director is satisfied or they run out of proper light, they will work with the takes they got in editing."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn beams at the autographs and grins. "So cool! Thanks!" she does hush up though when they get into action. Eyes widen as they head back to the other end of the ship, watching and listenning intently. Darn, she'd give anything to be a part of that set, but for now she'll just watch and maybe learn a thing or two.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
After a few 'Actions', 'Cuts', and 'Do it agains'. There is a general tone of pleasure coming from the director before the Larson and Humphrey characters break their glare.

"Alright folks. Time to break it up. We got enough for today!"

With the words declaring the filming to be done for the day, life comes back to the boat as those still situated on there bring up their conversational tones to become a murmur of contentment.

The tour guide smiles, "Well, wasn't that a great show everybody?" She turns her head, looking over to the boat set and then over to the equipment boat.

Coming from the entrance to the cast and crew section of the boat, a reasonably well dressed suit lingers, seemingly keeping an eye on matters.

There's a churn sound as the motor of the passenger boat struggles and clunks while the muffled sound of mutterings can be heard from the upper level where the captain resides.

While waiting, Mike and Bryant have a bit of conversation on the stage boat.

It's a pretty peaceful time of accomplishment.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs, leaning back in her seat, enjoying the gentle rock of the boat as she watches the procedure from afar. "Wow, it sure looks like a lot of work, but Mr. Drago loooks soooo cool!" oh yeaah, she's totally ogling him and stuff.

She does cheer when the tour guide makes comments here and there though, and even pulls out her camera, hoping to take some shots (hopefully it's not illegal or anything).

"Sooo how many takes do they gotta do? It seems like a lotta work.." she mutters.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Oh don't worry." The tour guide replies, smiling ear to ear as she is still observing the other boats, "It'll all be over soon."

With a line like that, You'd think this would be where something very bad happens in this scene but you would be wrong.

Carolyn moves to the back of the boat, approaching her boxed lunch only to grumble as she looks in. "Okay! Whoever took my cookie is in DEEP TROUBLE." She turns her head, glaring about.

The other cast members look at her blankly.

The blank looks die away soon after as the side of it the stage ship suddenly explodes outwards, the newly formed hole errupting in flame before trickling about the edges, climbing up the side as a BOOM! commands everyone's attention. Those on the deck of the ship end up getting knocked off their feet, with Bryant falling down the ladder to the lower level.

The suited figure curses, moving over to the ladder that leads up to the passenger ship's captain. "Get this boat moving!"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn smirks, "Someone took her cookie? Is that like, part of the act or what?" she giggles, enjoying the entertainment very much.

And then there's the explosion. Eyes widen in surprise, jumping to her feet, peering out at the stage ship. "Wah? What was that?" she frowns, stepping towards the edge of the boat they're still standing in, trying to get a good look at it. Megan freezes, assessing the situation. Doesn't seem like anyone is in immediate danger, but she still watches and waits.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"The engine's not cutting on," The Captain protests back to the suit, triggering a sneer from the man.

"Shit. What about the other one?!"

As the flames start to spread upon the stage ship, those on top of the deck scurry upon their feet, moving away from the building flames.

Hair getting out of place, Mike's hair grows as wild as Larson's as he turns his head round rapidly in search, "Where's Wallace?!"

"He fell down the stairs!"

"Ff- Use the lifeboat. I'll go check on him!"

Leaving the others, Mike makes his way down the steps to check on his costar.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn's eyes widen as flames start to spread on the ship. Okay, NOW things are getting out of control. "Uh...Hey!" but looking around, she's a bit uncertain about revealing her powers in public.

She slips towards the doors, and while everyone is ogling the flaming ship, she murmurs softly under her breath, stepping away from the others: "Sihal Novarum Chinoth!" a pink portal appears before her and she steps through, arriving on the stage ship a moment later, coughing a bit from the smoke.

"Phew, everyone okay?" she glances towards Mike and back at the ladder. Oh wow, that fall must have been harder than she thought, and she follows after him, pulling off her jacket as she does so, and spreads her wings, trying to fan out the flames and the smoke as she flies towards the lower level.

"Umm Mister Wallace? Heey, are you here?" she calls out, peering around.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike blinks as he's suddenly greeted by the pink haired mutant but he doesn't question it. Instead taking it as a good sign. As Pixie heads down, he finds himself following down the steep steps. Although, his descent is a bit slower due to not flying down. It doesn't take long to approach the crumpled, but still breathing form of Bryant Wallace.

The sense of contentment on the passenger boat has shifted more over to murmurs of concern with some of the more vocal ones repeating the concern of the man in the suit.

"Why aren't we moving?"

"Oh God it's on fire."

Through the expressions of concern, the tour guide has finally been silenced as she stares at the stage ship, not saying a word as she watches the camera men moving towards the lifeboat while Mike and Pixie disappear down the steps.

In an odd turn, the fire spreading seems to divert paths suddenly, speeding up to cut between the men heading to the lifeboat and the entrance to the stairwell Mike disappeared down.

"Oh geez it's spreading!"

Carolyn has wandered towards the front, that section of the boat getting the best view of what is going on. Eyes widening, she shakes her head, "N- They're going to get trapped-" She turns her head, looking back towards the center where the man in the suit and the man in the vest are now located, "Why aren't we moving to pick them up?!"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks as she lands on the lower deck, peering towards the unconscious form, then towards Drago. "Hmm, looks like he's still breathing.." she peers at Wallace cautiously, leaning over him and checking for any injuries, specifically if he recently received any broken bones. Megan is no nurse but she does know basic first aid.

"Ummm..." she bites her lip, glancing towards the approaching fire and sighs, "Okay then, Mr. Drago, can you carry him? I know of another way off this boat but you gotta trust me.."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike nods, looking up towards the entrance with a frown, crouching down to slide his hands between Braynt's arms and torso, hands grasping upon the chest as he leverages him up, trying not to jar the head too much "Yeah sure. Just let me know where to drag him."

He's assuming NOT towards the fire.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs, glancing towards the passenger ship. Hmm, how will she explain this..She peers towards the shore then the approaching fire. "Alright, follow me.." and she heads towards a clearing on the ship. As much as she can away from the flames. Glancing around she holds out a hand and murmurs, "Sihal Novarum Chinoth!" immediately a glowing pink portal appears, shimmering in front of them. "Come on, this will take us to the supply ship. Trust me." she steps aside, waiting for him to go first with the unconscious Wallace, making sure they're not overseen by the passenger ship. Fortunately the smoke will cover their tracks and it'll be more believable that they can 'swim' to the ship than to the shore line. "I'll be right behind you.."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike pauses as the pink portal forms, blinking to it and then looking to Megan. "So that's how you got in that tree..." Not really taking time to remenisce on a burning ship, he starts to drag the larger costar through the portal. "Thanks."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn grimaces a bit, eyes watering now as the fire steadily approaches them, focusing on keeping the Oort an open fir as long as possible. "Something like that! But let's keep it a secret between the two of us! See you in the other side!" and once he steps through he will find himself on the supply ship. Megan joins him a moment later, the portal snapping shut. She coughs a bit, "Phew that was close! How is he?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
The trio- well, two parts of the trio, find themselves on the side of the supply ship hidden from the view of the passenger ship by the angle the ship was floating on. Bone dry, they won't be very convincing as people who swam over. Especially with one of them-

Mike is quiet for a moment, seemingly looking to the still figure he sets on the deck. He frowns, reaching over to check his pulse and then put his ear near the mouth. "Pulse and breathing at least." Mike replies, "But it's not sleeping. He should get checked out by a doctor."

He glances over to Pixie, "Which probably means you need to get back to the other ship before I start drawing attention over here. I'll act like I didn't see who helped, okay?"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks, "You gonna be alright, getting him to the doctor?" but she does have her mutant to hide and she nods, peering towards the passenger ship. It shouldn't be too hard to sneak back on with their attention elsewhere, "Alright then, good luck!" Megan pulls her jacket back over her wings and summons the portal once more, vanishing from sight with a smile and wave.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
"Yeah. I think we can manage." Mike rplies, looking to Bryant for a moment before Megan vanishes back to the boat. He waits a few moments before bringing raising his voice for any crew members on the current boat, "HEY! I NEED SOME HELP OVER HERE!"

The scene is a mixture of chaos and shock over at the passenger boat. Some people are still shouting while others are watching as the lifeboat floats away from the now fully engulfed ship.

Carolyn clings on to the railing, eyes wide as she tries to make out who is on the boat, the count not matching up to what she's expecting "Oh God, Is Nick and Bryant with them?"

The tour guide, still watching the burning boat, doesn't reply and instead continues watching.

"I don't see them! Maybe they're in the water?!"

"DAMN IT GET THE ENGINE RUNNING!"

Megan's re-entry to the scene escapes their notice.

Over to the supply boat, there is a scurry of motion as shouting starts to draw the attention of the crew over there. As to what is being said, with the noise of the crowd and the distraction of the burning set piece, it escapes many persons notices.

And then the radios of the crew members of the passenger boat comes to life.

"-kk- We've got Drago and Wallace. Wallace is going to need some attention. We're moving back to port."
