Cast of Characters: Lorna Dane, Bobby Drake

Lorna Dane has posed:
After the incident on the Beach, Lorna had taken all of two steps and promptly collapsed. Several hours later, back in the X-men base, she still had yet to awaken. She lay on the foldable cot, the metal she'd used as armor on the beach long since fallen away. Slowly, her eyebrows knit together as she came around. Her hands rising to rub at the dry scratchy feeling of her eyes as she shifted and released a pained groan.

She blinked, and rubbed at her nose, dried blood smearing on the back of her hand. She grimaced, making to sit up and promptly slumping back on the cot. Lorna squeezed her eyes shut, and pressed the palms of her hands against them. "What happened?" She croaked.

Bobby Drake has posed:
After the incident on the beach, Bobby had helped to get as many people to shore as possible, though that was mostly Pietro's doing, and the prisoners were still, to his knowledge, being held in the cargo ships that had never blown up -- whether there were ever mines there or not, he's also not sure. But for now, he's exhausted, and so he makes his way back toward the X-men base to sit down for a little while and to check on Lorna, shifting as he walks in the door out of his transparent ice form.

He glances over just in time to notice Lorna sitting up and makes his way over to sit on the chair next to the cot. He reaches out one hand and says, "You probably have a massive hangover.." He then gets up and goes over to the kitchen to get a damp cloth which he promptly chills, and a glass of water, bringing both over to her.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna slowly sat up, the world around her shifting rapidly and she closed her eyes... Which didn't help as her magnetic senses still buzzed in her head. All raw and overworked. Her entire nervous system had been run ragged, and as a result, everything ached. She didn't just have a hangover, it was a full body bruise.

And then there was Bobby, the giver of water and cool compresses. She exhaled a trembling breath, reaching for the cup and sipping at it as her head pounded. "Yeah.. everything kinda hurts." She cleared her throat, that too felt raw, likely from her screaming.. not that she remembered that.

"All over."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"Yeah," Bobby says. "You uh.." He tries to think about how to put it. "What's the last thing that you remember from the beach?" Because figuring out that is probably the best place to start. "Want some Advil or something? Not sure if that's even going help at all but.. can't hurt." He glances toward the door, but for the moment, no one else seems to be coming in, so there's a little time to let her wake up and recover. He gets up again and wanders over to the cabinets where the medical supplies are, and begins looking through what's on hand for massive magnetograines.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna nodded, pressing the cool compress to her forehead and then grimaced as her head swamp again. "Please. The extra migraine strength stuff?" She mumbled, and exhaled a slow breath. What //did// she remember? She remembered a haze of electromagnetism, and asking Fabian for a power up. She remembered being angry. So very.. very angry.

Everything was so jumbled up in her head and she wasn't entirely sure what was real or a left over from her nightmares.

"Uhm.. I.. shit, I asked Fabian for a power up?" She wrinkled her nose. "I have no idea why my father would keep that guy around if this is the end result." She muttered.

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake rummages around and comes up with the strongest migraine stuff he can find and then brings it over to her, settling back down on the chair as he studies her. There's a mixture of concern and something else in his expression. There's no attempt to make jokes right now as he nods and says, "Yeah. He definitely powered you up, and Pietro, and me to a lesser extent." He then rubs at his face a little and says, "Probably because the end result was.. impressive, if a bit terrifying."

He decides to start with the good news. "The cargo ships didn't sink. Pietro managed to empty them. All the supplies are on shore." Let's start there.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna took the painkillers, downing them with a wrinkle of her nose and setting the water back down on the folding table closest to her. She shifted, and settled on her side, keeping the cool compress on her forehead as she felt her stomach roil from the movement. "Is that why you're not in hangover hell with me?" She mumbled, and as Bobby spoke of the cargo ship being saved along with the supplies, she exhaled a breath.

"Oh good. We didn't lose anyone on it then.." She closed her eyes, and then opened them immediately when it didn't stop the way the world tilted in her vision.

Bobby Drake has posed:
"Whatever he gave you and Pietro, he didn't give as much to me, and he ah.. he cut it off to me when he super-juiced you," Bobby says. "So I didn't have as much or for as long." He looks tired, but definitely not in the shape that she's in. "No, we didn't lose anyone on the cargo ships or the cargo." He says, "But the fleet? The warship? A lot of people died." He reaches out and lightly re-cools the compress where it's warmed against her skin and then settles back down again.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna listened with as much focus as she could manage, with her head pounding like some kid that was just given a drum set. His comments about her being super juiced and why he wasn't miserable as well earned a simple. "Oh.." As he bent over to recool the compress and he spoke of the fleet and warships, she blinked.. once, twice.. and a third time.

She paused, struggling over her hazy memories of what had happened and finding a jumble instead. Nothing clear. She remembered snatches. Bits. Pieces. The closest experience she had was when she'd drank too much wine over New Years.

"I ...did that...?"

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake nods his head in answer to her question. "You ah, picked up the fleet out of the water and threw it at the warship. They all started firing. Cannons, lasers, and all the projectiles got turned back on them. The warship got split in two. We pulled as many out of the water as we could and locked them in one of the cargo ships, but it was.. there was a lot of destruction." He studies her face, her features, "I've never seen you like that before. Fabian was screaming crazytalk about the second coming of Magneto and apocalyptic insanity and just blasted you with energy and you were just.. screaming.. and screaming, and couldn't hear any of us. It was.." He pauses, considers and just ops for, "Scary. It was scary." And yet he doesn't seem afraid of her at all, just concerned, worried /for/ her more than anything else.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna blinked again, sitting up even though it clearly pained her. She caught the cold compress as it fell of her forehead, and she winced as her head throbbed. Her skin going pale either from Bobby's news or from the sudden movement of sitting up. It was hard to say. She was silent seeming to think about his words and trying to parse them with her foggy memory of events.

Finally, she glanced at Bobby. "Are you scared of me.. because of what I did?" She asked softly, haltingly. But neither was her voice filled with horror or concern for the events that Bobby described.

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake shifts over from the chair and nudges her just a little gently so that he can sit on the cot next to her, Pietro glares be damned, and unless she pulls away, lightly wraps an arm around her shoulders. "No," he says quietly, "I'm not scared of you. I'm worried. I'm worried about how much you've gone through that it all came out like that. I'm sad that so many people died. I'm.. still a bit in shock and processing everything that happened. But right now, I'm just glad that whatever happened out there combined with whatever Fabian did didn't roast your brain from the inside."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna shifted over, and as Bobby settled to put an arm around her shoulders, she leaned against him. Her head gently settling against his shoulder. Which might partly be due to the fact he was a nice ice cube against her throbbing head, and also.. because he was Bobby, and he wasn't yelling or passing judgements on what she had done or lecturing her. Which.. was sure to come eventually from others.

"Well.. my brain might be a bit roasted." She mumbled softly, squeezing her eyes shut. "It feels like it anyways." She exhaled a breath, opening her eyes and looking down at her hands.

"...because Bobby.. I'm not sorry for what I did. If it meant that they didn't land on Genosha.. didn't get to bring their anti-mutant tech back onto this island? I'm not sorry.."

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake saw Pietro's face. He has no doubt that the elder sibling is going to have more than a few words for Lorna, and right now, he seems more concerned with easing her into consciousness and helping her be ready with at least knowing what happened /before/ that conversation happens. He's cool, but not too cold, given that he's not in ice form and not actively chilling the area around him. But it's definitely like resting your head against the cool part of the pillow.

He smiles a little wryly and says, "Okay, well, maybe a little roasted, but not so much that the headache won't abate eventually." He then takes in a slow breath and lets it out just as slowly. "They didn't land on Genosha. And there's no way any of us were going to let that tech back on the island. Do I think we could have managed it with less loss of life? Yeah, I think we could have. There's been enough death. And some of those people? They might not have voluntarily signed up for what they were dragged out there for -- the civilians, anyway. That loss is tragic, no matter what the reason. And it's going to have consequences as far as aid goes, most likely, but all that can be faced later. Right now.. right now, I just want to make sure you're going to be okay."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna fell silent as Bobby spoke, and part of her.. wanted to argue, but the greater part of her didn't want to. Didn't want to put the effort into that as she knew... as Bobby spoke, that she'd need that energy to deal with people that weren't going to be so understanding nor concerned about her mental state or her physical state. She shifted closer to Bobby, as if doing so would make her head stop throbbing and the prickle of conscious to leave her alone.

"I dunno?" She mumbled finally, "Fabian's powers are supposed to be addictive, as far as my father spoke of them. But I just have a pounding headache.. so don't have to worry about me running off for some more power juice."

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake rests his cheek against her hair and gives her a little, gentle squeeze as she settles closer against him. He's said all he has to say on that topic for now, and so he presses no further with it. He knows she's going to be facing a lot of conversations about it in the coming days. "I mean, I didn't get the blast that you and Pietro did, and so for me it was definitely.. a rush? It was euphoric and it felt great, and it felt like I could do far more than I already could. I can see how someone could get addicted to that feeling. It definitely felt /good/. I think it'd be dangerous at those levels. If I got used to it, I could see wanting to keep that high going."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna closed her eyes as Bobby let her just slump against him, curled up and enjoying the gentle coolness he brought. He was like a balm to her senses and she sighed softly. "I think I got pretty close to being totally overloaded. I mean.. when I even think about my magnetic sense.. it aches. It feels raw, like a rug burn." She grimaced, "When I think about what happened..? At the start of it, I kind of remember feeling so much.. more. But then it all gets jumbled up like I was on a bender."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"You looked like you exploded, like.. there was just this bubble of energy around you and all the projectiles swirling around in it, and there was like an electrical storm and... it was.. kind of crazy unbelievable to watch," Bobby says, unable to really describe. "Can I just say it's a little nervewracking to be in the water with a giant electrical storm like that going on? I'm very glad I can't be electrocuted in ice form.."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna blinked and shifted to look at Bobby as he spoke of what she looked like when she'd been on Fabian's power boost. "Seriously?" Her eyebrows knit together and she blinked, it sounded like her father when he was on the News about to attack something. Not.. her.

As he spoke of an electrical storm that brewed up around her she frowned, "I can't make electricity. Not directly, not like storm.. But I guess I could make a localized area where the particles in the air were charged enough one way or another that it happened as a result." She mumbled, and pursed her lips together in thought.

"I'm glad you're alright."

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake shrugs his shoulders a little and says, "I'm a math guy, not a science guy, but yeah, that makes sense. I can't really explain what it actually was, just what it looked like. Everything was crackling and alive." He smiles a little bit over at her and says, "I'm alright. I was fine, pretty much. I'm just a little tired after all of that, and then working on getting everything settled on shore afterward. Now I'm just ready to nap for about a week." He smiles a little bit wryly. "Which I can't do because I have finals and then garduation but.. it's a tempting thought."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna smiled weakly at Bobby, "Oh good, you can run my bank account then for me, right?" She teased as he said he was the math guy. And she exhaled a soft breath as she shifted and glanced at the cot. She was trying at least to stay focus, even if it was a struggle.

"Well, if you're tired, come take a nap with me. It's a win win, you get to sleep.. and I get an ice pack." Her voice gently teasing. She had a feeling that the next time when she woke up, it was likely going to be a very different reception one way or another.

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake laughs and says, "You know I was going to be a CPA before I changed my major, right? Accounting, I can definitely do. Interpret electromagnetic fields and fancy air sparkles, not as much." He winks, some of his humor coming back. He glances over at the cot and says, "I think your brother would implode if he came in here and saw me sleeping with you," with a little bit of a chuckle. "Though, I guess then he might be more likely to try to vaporize me than yell at you.. so there's that?" He laughs.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna smiled at Bobby, her expression warming as he spoke of fancy air sparkles. "Look, I literally got my degree in geophysics so I could understand my powers better. A bit selfish of me, and a bit like cheating when I can literally see the magnetic forces of the universe.. but still. It does not help me balance my budget." She murmured, and as Bobby spoke of her older brother she shrugged.

"I'll take that. It'll be worth it to have some rest before the storm. I have a feeling Pietro is going to be the least of my worries.." She sighed. "So, if you can brave that..? The offer of a nap is still on the table."

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby Drake grins and says, "Alright, well so long as you agree to handle any and all geophysics questions, should they come up, I can help with accounting." He then considers, glancing around the room and shrugs his shoulders. "Pietro doesn't scare me. I like him well enough. But it's way more fun to play up being scared of the big brother. Besides, it lets him play the scary big brother." He flashes a grin then, and shifts a bit. "Okay.. now... to do this without falling off. What is it with you and sharing tiny pieces of furniture?" But he's not really complaining as he shifts around so that they can both lay down on the cot. "Nap time is officially on. God, I'm exhasuted."
