Synopsis: Oliver and Vanessa discuss implications of Jemma's prognosis of Vanessa's being a mutant. Oliver makes Vanessa her own bow.
Cast of Characters: Oliver Queen, Vanessa Carlysle

Oliver Queen has posed:
It has been a few days since that fateful day with Clint and Jemma where they discovered what Vanessa's abilities.. Or at least a glimpse on them. Along with she being a mutant. Luckily there were big teddy bears to hug back at home. Both human and actual ones. It was a time for reflection, but Oliver also knew he needed to give Vanessa her own time to process what had occurred so he had not pressed the issue. They would talk when she so wished to.

Instead he had focused on what had been his work the last few weeks, which was to prepare a bow for Vanessa. Not one of his, but instead made for her own size and measurements. Not that he had actually measured her but he knew the size of her hands by heart now, her complexion and that was what had guided him in crafting it. A collapsible bow, very close in shape to the one she had first picked up when she had come down to the Arrowcave, without the same kind of power as the ones he used but faster, made for a nimbler build.

He had but to string it now, going over the last adjustments. Methodically and patient. As was his way. He left the anger for when he was the Green Arrow.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The door to the cave opens with a soft hiss as the locks and hermetic seals give way and Vanessa walks in. She's wearing a pair of sweats, beneath which are probably spandex shorts for working out in, and a t-shirt but with one of Oliver's sweatshirts overtop, one with some Starling City advertising on the front of it. Oliver might have noticed she turns to borrowing his clothing... well, she does that some anyway, but when she's seeking comforting, it's a good bet he'll find her in that sweatshirt, leaning against the nearly human-sized teddy bear he won for her at Coney Island.

"Anyone around?" she calls out softly as she goes over to the computers, unlocking the screen and checking for anything interesting going on in Oliver's fair city. "Police seem to have it all in hand," she comments upon reviewing the police log rundown.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Oliver had been working out earlier. So it is no surprise to find him wearing one of his tight t-shirts, his training pants and no shoes. He enjoys being comfortable like that. And since he has already gone through the salmon ladder workout he doesn't have to be with his chest exposed anymore.

"Down here." He calls out, his solemn tone carrying out through the Arrowcave, echoing. It always seems so eerily empty. But Vanessa knows enough of him by now to know he often retreats upon himself when he wants to think and find his focus.

"So far it seems so. But we may be called out before the end of the night." he draws out a stool.

"Come sit with me? Or do you feel like working out first?" the work he was doing on the bow momentarily forgotten. His smile is there for her though, always reassuring.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle missed the salmon ladder workout. Now she really needs comforting time with the teddy bear. Her light footsteps can be heard moving that way, until the young woman's form steps into view. She was in fair shape already when he first met her, though that was more about looking appealing than being athletically fit. Since she's started working out with Oliver, Vanessa is beginning to show a little more tone than before. Not bulking up, but her arms look more fit and there's more of that athletic shape up from her waist to shoulders when it's visible.

"Sit with you? Always," she says, walking over to him. "Workout can wait a few more minutes," she says. She'll move right up to Oliver and slip her arms around him if he lets her, hugging him and offering a nuzzled kiss to his cheek. "Had the radio on and they played one of the songs we danced to in the diner," she comments. "Now I'm all nostalgic."

Oliver Queen has posed:
The assessment that Oliver gives with his eyes to Vanessa's form is one of both praticality but also appreciation. Yes, she had indeed been committing up to the training. He knew it was important too, because according to what they had learned her condition would not be permanent. So if he could set a basis for her training.., the better. And he was still committed to make her an archer, even when she didn't have his 'powers'.

"Training is doing you well." The hug is certainly welcome, one of his own large arms slipping about her form. And he seems to change his mind then. Why sit on another stool. Instead, if Vanessa allows he will have her sit with him, on one of his legs. "We had spoken about going there after Coney Island, but then we had a bear to carry home." he grins at that memory. "How about tomorrow night we go there?" he proposes.

He then inclines his head to the work he was doing at the workbench. "I have been doing this for you. Do you want to finish stringing it?" he proposes.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa gladly plops down in Oliver's lap, turned sideways and her arms about his shoulders. "That sounds like a date. And this time if you have to run out to be Green Arrow, you take me with you," she teases with a little tap on his chest. She still likes to give him a hard time for leaving suddenly while she was in the ladies room.

Vanessa looks towards the bow and her jaw drops open for a second. "Oh, Oliver. That's... thank you," she says, her face lighting up and the beautiful smile shining over at him. She leans in to give him a soft kiss. "Yes, it would be nice to have a hand in it. But you did a marvelous job," she says, picking up the bow and seeing how it feels. Fits her hand perfectly, and she can tell, even sitting, it's a good height for her.

She swivels in his lap enough she can begin work stringing it. "So, making one for me... kind of assumes I'm not going to end up turning into you permanently. I mean all... buff, muscular man-body and everything," she says, revealing what's been on her mind.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"I will make sure to bring appropriate clothing for the two of us." Oliver returns to that tease, the tap on his chest making him let out of his rumbling laughs, his clear blue eyes dancing amused. Yes, he did regret it. But then the next days had only brought them closer. Such was the twist in their lives. He still wondered if it had simply been fate, or whatever else had been at play during that time. Regardless, he seemed happy.

"Feel free to make any other adjustments to it as well. You will know how to." Oliver says, clearly without a problem that she has his knowledge on how to craft and handle these bows. "I went by heart on how I knew your hand should measure. Good that I made a good job." he says of her approvel to the height and size of it, returning that kiss, one hand casually resting upon her waist, keeping her close even while she works on it.

"I am assuming we will figure out what is going on with this and that you will learn how to control your gift." he tells her. Gift, because it was how he saw it. "Though I am vain enough to enjoy having two of myself around." a small jest, followed by a small squeeze of his arm about her waist.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa gives Oliver a small smile, but it doesn't completely hide that she does have some concern over her control, or whether changes may be permanent. "I think... well, it's kind of good knowing what's going on. Even if it opens up new worries. But so I need to figure out if I can control this," she says. "If Jemma is right that I could go even further... well, I need to know that I can go back too," she says.

She lets out an exasperated sigh. "So I'm not quite sure how to do that. I was thinking I could try this with someone else. That might sort of prove it. Or just... if I could back off what I have so far. Though honestly I kind of would hate to find I couldn't regain it." She turns those sloe eyes of hers on him, so big and soft as they gaze at Oliver. "I rather like, having this much of you in me," she says. "Er, I mean, your... who you are. Not..." she says, and then gives a blushing laugh. "You know what I mean."

Oliver Queen has posed:
While Vanessa has, understandably, those worries, Ollie won't afford to look doubtful. And they had already come so far, this was but another stepping stone. A -very- important one, but nonetheless he had learned that sometimes one had to trust that things would be fine. It was what had kept him going at the JLA, when they faced off against all those threats. This might be a different type of fight but .. "We will face it together. It means training, yes." he tells her, agreeing with her assessment of testing first if she can go back.

"Someone you trust would be the best. There is my sister but..." sounds as if he has some reservations on that. As of late there was a certain strain on their relationship. But then again, between those two siblings there was always something of the sort going on. "What about April?" he then finally suggests. "Have you seen her since that last venture of ours on that Hand and Foot warehouse?"

"I know well what you mean.." even if the man isn't made of iron, just the faintest of colors coming to his own cheeks. But he laughs as well. "I believe it's worth it though, you can't stay in this mid state forever. And I trust you -will- figure out on how to control your powers, Vanessa." again that solemn, reassuring tone of his that he likes to use. One hand reaches up to brush over Vanessa's hair. "Sometimes we just need to plunge in and do what we have to do."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa carefully strings the bow, doing it as well as Oliver could have himself. Little surprise given the source of her knowledge there. She pauses at times, turning to Oliver to listen to what he has to say. Vanessa pauses entirely when he mentions April.

"I was actually thinking about her as well," Vanessa admits. "And, I trust her to know. And think she might be ok with me knowing... well, everything, about her. The one thing that might worry me is, if she finds out at some point I'm copying someone with such archer skills... she's likely to make a guess it was you, Oliver," Vanessa says.

She looks to see what he thinks about that. "I can work to keep it from her. But, she is an investigate journalist. I won't put her past her to notice things over time. So it is a potential risk. One I don't think I can take without you saying it's ok," she says.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Better than if I had done it myself." Oliver states when she finishes stringing the bow, grinning at her, watching her hands working on it. For some reason it's like a soothing balm to him, watching her work with his own set of skills, it only have brought them closer.

When Vanessa then begins speaking about April it makes him consider, it was not an easy decision to make. Journalists were not ..., prone to being silent too long! Or at least the ones he knew. "How much do you trust her?" he then asks after a few moments in silence, turning his gaze to look directly at Vanessa now. "If she figures it out, do you believe she is someone you could trust with your secret? Or ours?"

His tone sounds as if he is leaving it to her judgement, placing that trust upon her shoulders.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa looks back to Oliver, and while her nod in reply is a slow one, it doesn't take her any time to come to the decision. "Yes. I think I'd trust her with my life as readily as I'd trust anyone. She has the head on her shoulders to understand there are times and reasons for keeping secrets. Protecting loved ones, etc. And... well, she's got Harley to deal with to make that extra obvious," Vanessa says. "Honestly it might not be bad if she knew where she could turn for help, should Harley's turning over a new leaf...ah, turn over a second time."

Vanessa watches Oliver to see what he thinks. "Plus, hey, if I end up looking like her, that's not all bad. I mean, I won't fault you if you'd rather snuggle with me looking like her, than looking like yourself. Even if /I'm/ more partial to /you/."

Oliver Queen has posed:
The mention of Harley just makes Oliver wince. Visibly wince. He had forgotten! A bit of a complication there if that particular person found out. But well, he'd trust Vanessa... But not without letting out a small sigh. This wasn't exactly an easy thing for him. Trusting in such a manner. "Then let's go with that. Approach her and tell her what is going on with you." he says, "If she discovers about the rest, well, we will handle it too. She does seem quite smart, even if always finding herself in trouble." he grinning a touch at that.

When Vanessa mentions looking like April it makes Oliver let out a brief laugh. "She is a beautiful woman." he states, not the type to be coy about such things. He knew Vanessa wasn't coy either. "But if there is someone I am partial to.." and he raises one hand up, touching a finger to Vanessa's nose. "... that someone is you. No matter how you look like. Which means, yes, even in the morning when your hair is all...." he doesn't attempt to finish that sentence, either too busy dodging some kind of comeback swat from Vanessa or simply grinning at her if no 'attack' comes his way.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
There's a good bet that Vanessa had mentioned Harley to make sure Oliver hadn't forgotten about the Clown Princess of... Justice? That just sounds so wrong even to think. She smiles and leans in her forehead against Oliver's though. "I won't tell her, but if she figures it out, yes, we'll go forward with it there," she says.

Oliver earns such a warm smile as he compliments Vanessa. Up until the hair thing. That gets a gasp and a little swat at his chest, though accompanied by a laugh. "I think I looked rather... ravishing in the morning," she comments as if humbly. She smiles to him and leans in to kiss Oliver softly before climbing off his lap. "Ok, let's give this bow a little test drive, shall we?" she asks, pulling on the bow string to test it, and then moving over to pick up a quiver of arrows.

Oliver Queen has posed:
He just laughs at that swat at his chest. So merciless that Oliver is. But he is glad that he at least got a laugh out of Vanessa. Taking her mind off things can be a good thing too. "You will look rather ravishing in the morning.." he says that as if in promise. When Vanessa gets off his lap he gives her a brief swat on a leg. "Good, thought you'd be spending all night sitting on my lap and lazying." he gets up as well and follows her towards the target range.

Folding his arms he looks at Vanessa in expectation. " A bit different in both weight and size. Could take a bit of adjustment getting used to. But when you do not have my own set of abilities with you it will serve you better." he tells her. In truth he had crafted the other members of the team their first bows. They had evolved from there, but he made sure to make it a ritual. Which pretty much meant that Vanessa was now part of the team as well.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa nods her head. "That's another thing to check out. I mean, I don't know what happens if I can do this with someone else. Do I forget what I learned from you? Or do I have three people's memories in my head instead of just two?" she says. "It's not too bad actually. Most of the time I have to give it conscious thought to think of something. OR have something 'remind me' of the memory," she tells him.

"But not always. I've found myself a few times, around the mansion here, not quite sure if some memory was mine or yours. Or having to stop and reason it out that it couldn't have been mine," she says. She gives a little shrug and sighs. "Things to work out," she says.

She draws an arrow and fits it to the bow, and gives it a few more test pulls. "The pull is definitely a little better for me. Not as strong as you by far," she says, glancing over at his muscular body and giving a suggestive smile. Vanessa turns her attention back to the target though, eyeing it at the far end of the room and then drawing and loosing. She shoots a second arrow after the first, and then another. Two of the three land in the bullseye, the other just outside. "A little adjustment," she says with a nod.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"The implications that could rise if you kept -every- skill that you absorbed were..." Well, Oliver won't say they were earth-shattering but ..., if one imagines Vanessa getting the hold of a few select heroes like Superman, and Doctor Strange, etc, well... "... let's just say rather interesting. But it's also a good question, if you only pick up skills or also powers. From what we learned with Jemma it's probably both but .." he trails off, then listening to her. He offers a nod.

The suggestive smile brings a smirk out of Oliver. Yes, he knew what it meant. The same way that he looked at her with intent. "Good." he says in approval at that first test run with it. "Feel free to play with it as you wish, it is yours now. Model it in your own manner." he tells her before stepping closer, placing one hand on her shoulder.

"We will find a way. I will be by your side no matter what. Through it all."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa nods at what Oliver's saying. "Well, if my brain actually resembles yours to hold the memories, then I'd imagine there's probably some limit. But, they always say we don't use the bulk of our brains. So maybe there's storage room in there for more than a couple of people?" Vanessa says.

She shakes her head and lets out a laugh. "God, it feels... so absurd to even be talking about how many people's lives I can fit into my brain." she shakes her head again and then takes more shots. The arrows are clustering into the bullseye again, it not taking her long to adjust to the differences of the bow.

Vanessa starts moving around, firing on the move. Rolling across the ground and coming up firing. Oliver would be familiar with the practice workout, since she got it from his memories. "I'll go talk to April, see what she thinks," Vanessa says.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Welcome to my world." Oliver replies to Vanessa when she mentions the absurdity of fitting lives inside her brain, not hiding a brief, small smirk. "You will get used to it. As much as we all do." though yes, there were a few things he still had some difficulty coming to terms with. Though he mostly kept an open mind.

When Vanessa goes on about rolling and firing on the move with the bow he returns to folding his arms together, watching those shots. A laugh. "I see you also got my penchant for showing off." he teases her at that practice workout. But indeed it's as if he was looking at a copy of him going through the motions. Ones he has gone through thousands of times.

"I feel this is one you will need to do on your own." Yes, he imagined their meeting would probably be a rather personal one. But he inserts his own levity into it. "But if you come back looking like her it is a sacrifice I will have to endure." and yes, he is ready to dodge arrows if need be. On hindsight, perhaps it was not a good idea to tease Vanessa while she has that bow and arrows in hand.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
"Just remembering a few of your old fights. We're not Superman. Even if you know him. I don't want to get hit by a bulllet!" Vanessa protests with a laugh after doing the acrobatic dodging and shooting. She dusts herself off and then collapses the bow. Expands it and tests the string and pull, then collapses it again.

"You do good work," she says with a smile as she walks back over to Oliver. She lets out a laugh as he admits his willingness to dive on the grenade that is April O'Neil's physical appearance. She doesn't swat at him this time though, instead moves to just straddle his lap as she sits down and kisses him. "Well, hopefully if I can even make appearance changes, it isn't permanent. So don't go getting TOO hopeful," she teases him. She smiles and kisses him, reaching a hand to cup his cheek. "Love you, Oliver Queen," she tells him.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Now the whole world does since he has finally gone public once again. I do wonder how he's faring. We should catch up with him again sometime." Oliver says, thoughtful, his lips pressed to a line. "Maybe even get the old gang together." he muses on that thought a moment. And nothing like calling the JLA a 'gang'. But he leaves those thoughts for later, for now he is rather focused on Vanessa..

When she approaches him again after their workout and sits on his lap he moves his hands up to settle upon her thighs, relaxedly. "I am always hopeful with you, Vee." the cupping of his cheek making him lean forth, those last words being returned not with a verbal answer but instead by actions, his lips finding Vanessa's.
