Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Daniel Hastings

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
It's a nice Spring day in Happy Harbor and Morrigan's been in her office most of the day going over things for the end of the school year. She's been trying not to focus on other things. Like dead bodies scattered about or bloody battles. Alexander was being seen to by SHIELD and she was trying to sort out her own feelings post coming home. The door to her office is open and Duncan is gone for the day, no longer playing Gatekeeper for the Principal. She's dressed in a casual dress that is a lavender color and black heels for the time being.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
The former SHIELD agent that is Doctor Hastings is likewise enjoying the end of the school year. With no new classes to teach, he's been spending his time grading the year end research papers for his seniors and proctoring exams. So at the end of the day, he strolls into the principals office and closes the door behind him. "Penny for your thoughts?" Maybe it was a little forward of him but he sunk into the chair opposite her desk and leaned back a little, hands in his lap as he regarded the pale redhead.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan looks up when someone comes in and she's a bit relieved that it is Daniel and not someone else. She gives a bit of a smile to him as he asks her that question and then settles in, "I'm debating if I want to do this next year." she admits. "But, I know it's just me being overly critical of myself and other things." she sighs. Then she's settling into her own chair, her violet gaze going to him, "How are you?" she asks him.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel Hastings can't help but laugh. "It seems the time for change." He crosses his legs and takes a deep breath. "Alright, I suppose. It's.. a little odd.. being free. Not having a phone leash and a rank and commanding officers.. it's liberating. A little scary.. but liberating." He muses a moment then frowns. "Though I do miss having access to supercomputers and a near limitless budget for research. Not.. that I was researching anything. So.." He shrugs. "You? What's got you looking for a way out?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a soft nod to that, "Spring usually brings about change, yes." she agrees with that. Though she listens to him and there's a bit of a thoughtful look when he talks on SHIELD, "Did something happen or were you just wanting to do something different now that you're back?" she asks. "You don't have to go into details...or even talk on it if you don't want to." she adds. "I'm just a bit blue today. Things with Agent Wilson didn't work out. Just..." she shrugs. "We're adults, we'll move on." she chuckles to that.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel Hastings arches a brow. "That.. is a surprise. I'm sorry to hear that." He frowns a little at that then exhales. "It's been something coming for a while now. I.. am a scientist. I was a soldier because I had to be. Now that I have a choice in the matter.. I didn't want to live that way anymore. I was just reminded of that recently and so finally pulled the plug on it. I'm sure they'll call on me if they need my expertise but I'm not holding my breath. Not so long as they have Doctor Foster on their payroll."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a bit of a shrug, "It was better to figure out now that it wasn't going to work as opposed to months from now. I wish him nothing but the best, but, there's just a lot of stuff going on between SHIELD, Avengers and other things." she gives a sad smile. "It was nice having someone to share the house with for a bit though." she chuckles. "Anyways..." she breathes out, "Maybe they will need your expertise sometime or maybe they'll need you both?" she offers. "And there are plenty of other things for you to put your mind to." she smiles to that.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel Hastings shrugs it off. "Maybe. Honestly, I have other things in mind. STAR labs for instance. I'd say Stark as a potential but I'd rather get some separation between myself and the family line. I have history with his father that, while not a problem, just has me shaking my head at the man. So it's probably best I not try to work for him." He regards Morrigan thoughtfully a moment. "Care to go get a drink? You look like you could use a change of venue. Just friends." He lifts a palm. "I wouldn't want rumors to start flying."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"Star Labs is a good place. Lots of good minds over there." Morrigan smiles to that. "And yeah, Tony is great but I can see needing some separation on things." she nods to that. There's a moment she thinks on the drink and then finally she nods, "I'm tired of staring at papers and having a drink would be nice." she states. "And of course, just friends. I don't think any rumors would start either way." she shrugs as she rises.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel laughs as he straightens to stand. "You say that.. but this is a high school. Rumors fly faster than the speed of thought around here." Speaking before thinking? Among teenagers? Say it isn't so. "Though you're still going to have to drive. I've yet to bother with buying a car. Maybe I'll buy one of those vespa things. Just to pretend." He muses a moment on that then chuckles. "I'll pay for drinks. How's that for quid pro quo?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to him and there's an amused chuckle, "True. Though people tend to keep most relationships and things quiet." she tells him. "And sure, I don't have a problem driving. Where would you like to get a drink?" she asks him as she gets her phone and her bag. "Vespa, a very enviromental buying prospect." she gives a look to him. "And sure, paying for drinks is still chivalrous." she grins at that.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"It's not dead you know." Daniel reassures her as he gets the door. "There's a quaint nautical bar in Brooklyn that I go to often. Mostly to patronize places in mutant town." Since the place was just recenlt ravaged. "If that doesn't bother you? I know the drinks won't be watered down at least."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"What's not dead?" Morrigan asks with a peculiar look as she slips on her sunglasses. She wasn't sure and these highly intelligent folks sometimes missed jokes. "Oh, I think I know which one you're talking about." she smiles to that. "I haven't been to Mutant Town in awhile, well...not since I was bailing Jamie out of jail." she muses. "Why would it bother me?" she asks him.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"It was just a question." Daniel offers with a shrug as he waits by the door. "Some people aren't comfortable with mutants. Not to say you would be one of them considering the nature of the school but there's a difference between controlled environment and.. what many might call a slum." There's a sort of wry roll of his eyes at that. "Speaking of.. how's he doing? The last I saw him he was being arrested.. but that was months ago. I spoke to a lawyer.. Murdock. About his situation. Seemed willing to take on the case. Anyway, chivalry. Chivalry isn't dead. I am determined that it not be so. Knight or not, I can still be a gentleman."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to him and there's a smile, "I'm perfectly fine with mutants, aliens, dead beings. Not really a discriminatory person." she shrugs at that. "I've been there a few times over the years." she states. "Jamie? No idea. I should see about tracking him down. He's been way too quiet lately." she muses to that. "Chivalry is a nice idea, but, I'm not a damsel in distress...a lot of us here aren't. But it's nice having a man that is working with the idea that chivalry is a good thing." she grins.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"First of all, just because you treat a woman.. or a man.. with dignity and respect.. it does not mean you think less of them." Daniel corrects gently as he starts walking down the hall. "To the contrary. You are recognizing their humanity.. their sentience.. since some would say humanity is too limiting a term. Only fiends like Nazis start out villifying those whom are different. Which.. unfortnately.. this planet seems to have forgotten that it fought a war to get rid of them of late."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to him, "Oh I didn't say that." she shakes her head as her office is locked behind her. "But..." she sighs. "My words aren't good this evening." she mutters. "And yes, we have some horrible people on this planet to put it plainly." she frowns to that as she heads for the exit.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel Hastings looks back to Morrigan, "That's a first. Usually it's me that's fumbling over words." Still, he waits for her before continuing on. "I know I'm from another era.. but Margaret Carter quickly opened my eyes to the fallacy that women were inferior in any way." He smiles as if there were some fond memories there. "Shall we away?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a chuckle, "I do it a lot. Not too worried on it really." she admits to that. She leads them out of the school and towards the parking lot, "Peggy Carter was probably great to work with." she smiles to that. "And it's a very equal time these days. It's nice." she nods to that. "And yes, I'm a bit hungry and a drink is just a bonus at this point." she muses.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"Fierce." Daniel sums up. "But fair and caring as well. Everything that makes women the fairer sex." Was he more than a little fond of Agent Carter? Either way, he led the way to a booth that was apparently his regular spot and snatched up a couple of menus. "They.. revived her recently. I probably shouldn't say anything but I can't imagine whom you would tell. I don't know who was the more shocked. Her. Or Steve." There's a moment of silent reflection before shrugging. "I wish them both well. I truly do."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look around when they enter and there's a moment taken to give the man a smile, she's fine, really! She settles herself into the booth, crossing one knee over the other and then sitting things on the table to the side. "They what?" she asks. "She was on ice or something?" she adds. "Interesting. And yes, Captain Rogers seems like someone that might be shocked at that." she shakes her head. "I'm sure they'll figure things out." she states.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
There was a moment where Dan looked over at Morrigan as if he wasn't quite sure she grasped his implication.. but then moves on to look at his menu. "But enough about SHIELD. Do I understand correctly that the seniors are going to Europe? What sort of itinerary are we talking about? I hope it's the usual museum and monuments tour. Americans truly don't appreciate just how young this country truly is." There was a bit of amusement in his eyes as he looks up at her.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan doesn't poke into the Captain America and Peggy Carter thing given she just broke up with Cap's best friend. It probably was a good idea. She gives a nod as she looks to the menu, "Aye. We're going to Spain. Taking a few side trips to introduce them to a few places. I think they'll appreciate the views and the history." she smiles to that. "And right? They really don't." she muses to that. "So how have things been for you besides SHIELD?" she asks him.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"Honestly? Slow." Daniel offers after a moment of thought. "Very slow. I mean.. grading papers? That's easy comparitively. If I don't get another job soon I'm going to become a mad scientist or something." There's a laugh at that. "Did have some excitement earlier in the week. One of those.. Sentinel.. things.. attacked the neighborhood. I and a number of other.. mutants I assume.. fought it off. Destroyed it. It looked something like Frankenstein's monster the way it was asssembled and coming up out of the water.. I.. should probably look into that."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan listens to him and settles the menu down on the table before she settles back and watches him, "You could always try out for another Doctorate." she tells him with a grin. "Sentinels? That's no small thing." she frowns at that. "I'm glad that you were not hurt." she admits. "Hmm. In the water? That is worrisome." she frowns at that. "If you need help looking into it please let me know." she offers. "So, normal questions, how is your dating life? Probably better than mine." she muses.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel laughs. "In point of fact, I already am. Given what I've seen both here and abroad, I'm currently working on a doctorate in biology focusing on convergent evolution in sentient species. Of course, given.. certain other factors.. I could be way off base and there may be another factor that I'm missing. But then that's the fun of doing research isn't it? To discover new truths?" He puts his menu down and orders a bacon cheeseburger, a side salad in lieu of the fries and a harp lager. "Ahh. Well." His cheeks color a little as he smiles. "Good. I think. Perhaps not as often as I'd like. But does not absence make the heart grow fonder?" He seems to have forgotten some details as he thinks fondly of the absence.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"That's a good thing. I've always found having two is a good thing. In case Mount Sinai ever decides to boot me as the head of Pathology. I can just go work somewhere and focus on my other Doctorate." Morrigan muses to that. When it's her turn to order there's a smile, ordering a barely cooked steak and a potato. Apparently she wasn't afraid of undercooked food. Then she looks to him and there's a smile as she nods to that, "It's a nice thing really." she tells him. There's a bit of sadness, but, that's understandable. "Well, maybe with the SHIELD leaving you'll have more time together." she offers.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"I can hope." Daniel replies wanly, "Though if.. distraction.. runs in the family.. I may be in for a long haul." He drums his fingers on the table thoughtfully then shrugs it off. "She's a delight when her mind starts whirling about on a project. It's truly a sight to behold. And her sense of hopefulness is infectious. I feel.. energized.. whenever we're working on a project together. And.. when we aren't." He smiles then looks back to Morrigan. "I'm sorry. I'm supposed to be letting you wax on poetically about how men are scum and you're better off.."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a soft smile as she listens to his words, it was nice to see the affection there. "I bet she's a nice person." she tells him. And not a weirdo like her. Then she shakes her head and makes shooey hand motions, "No, I'm an adult. Things didn't work out and I'm not going to sit here and drag a man through the mud when it was mutual parting." she states. "Spain is going to be a bit more of a sad situation given we were going to be sharing a room and things, but, we'll cope." she sighs. "Maybe I'll start dating again, maybe I'll just focus on work. The possibilities are endless at the moment." she shrugs.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"Well.. whatever you do.. do it because you want to. Not because you feel obligated." Daniel cautions. "If things didn't work out between myself and Valeria.. to say nothing of watching my back because Doom would want to shoot it if it wasn't mutual.. I.. don't know that I'd be jumping back into the saddle straight away either. Of course, I can't say how serious we are as yet. I've only just asked her out on a date. Up until now it's.. been cordial? Scientific?" Not romantic.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"I never do things because I feel obligated." Morrigan tells him honestly. "That's no way to live life and given I almost died once I kind of like not wasting my time or someone elses." she states. Then there's a bit of a squint, "Valeria Richards, Reed Richards daughter?" she asks. "And I thought I got into interesting things." she grins at that. "And yes, Doom is definitely one to not piss off." she sighs. "It's early for you guys. Hopefully it goes nice places." she tells him.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"The alps?" Daniel replies as if they'd already been there. "Travel is easy when it's a snap." Or similar. "But there was the recent crisis with the shadow creatures and we were mostly focused upon that. But.. yes.. Valeria Richards. Which.. I know the age difference is odd. I mean.. I'm not as old as everyone things and I've seen alot but.. socialize? With women? Never have I ever. And she's.. far far more mature than anyone at this school I'll assure you. Sharper than her father if I'd venture a guess. Which.. is no small thing keeping up with her lines of thought some days I assure you." He muses a moment. "Still. It.. seems to work. I'm not sure why and.. I'm not going to ask." Do not taunt the happy fun ball.
