Synopsis: Matt and Daisy share some pie on the rooftop and talk about Nazis. Isn't hero life romantic?
Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Daisy Johnson

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The day was coming to a close, vibrant pink and purple skies hung over New York as the sun set in the west. To Matt's senses it was a cooling of the city, a change in the sounds of his neighbourhood from the bustle of daytime to the quietude of evening. It was also a good time for desert in the little rooftop picnic he set up for him and Daisy when he got home. A blanket's laid out on the roof, there's a good bottle of wine, glasses, the remnants of take-out and of course, pie, which is the course they're getting too now. Straberry rhubarb of course!

Matt was just finishing talking about his day at the courthouse, a client finally let free, when he nods to the pie, "But enough about my day, should we dig in?" he asks her.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
It had been one more day Daisy had escaped from having to prepare dinner! Which would had been that salad... But she had used the 'I have been shot!' card, and so she had quite welcomed the sitting up on the roof on that blanket, the food and now they were getting to the best part. Dessert! Ah yes, the strawberry rhubarb...

Though in truth the shot had been more of a graze, and with the help of some that fabled meditation, along with her own powers, she was pretty much over it. Or almost at least. Which allowed her to listen to those New York sounds, resting back on her hands relaxedly, legs spread forward. "Foggy must have been ecstatic. No drinks after work?" She then asks, re-opening her eyes and then grinning in the direction of the pie.

Oh yes, she was quite ready to dig in. "Finally, the best part has arrived."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The 'I've been shot card' definitely played its part in tonight's set up, in that Matt figured they could both use an easy night. Not that Matt had babied Daisy over the wound, beyond a inspection of it with his senses. He just let her deal with it and was there to help if she asked for it. To his mind they were both for a lack of a better term, warriors and so this sort of thing was going to happen whether they liked it or not.

There was one thing on Matt's mind though as he divvied up the pie, and it wasn't drinks with his friends, though he does speak to that. "Not tonight, Foggy had a date," he says with a bit of a smile. That was big news in the world of Nelson and Murdock. He puts a slice on a plate for Daisy and hands it over along with a little fork.

"Don't know the girl but he was very excited," he explains further. "Though, he did bring something up earlier that I wanted to ask you about," he pauses turning towards Daisy in serious mode. "And you don't have to answer if you don't want to, I know our jobs have their secrets, but he did mention in passing someone with earthquake powers robbing a bank." He leaves that statement there for her to comment on or not.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"My, my, my.. Hopefully it won't turn into another Becky ..." Poor Foggy, never taking an hint when the girl wasn't interested. And of course, Daisy was all into that gossip, wringing it all out of Matt. While the pie is sliced up Daisy turns about on the blanket, bringing her legs further under her and sliding closer. Oh yes, she was ready.. Taking the plate she immediately gets a bite in, mouth full. "Mmmmhmmm..."

Her eyes are down on her plate for a time but she does note that change in Matt's posture. Yes, she knew the serious mode. And the tone confirmed it. She could crack a joke now but somehow the matter doesn't seem to be a good one for it.., or at least not just yet. "Yea, if you go by what some tabloids are talking about -Quake- is to blame.." she lets out a brief sigh. "Though in a way, I do suppose I was responsible." she is silent for a few moments before continuing. "I was ambushed a few days back by a group of what we believe to be neo-nazis. Apparently they got some kind of device that allows powers to be temporarily stolen."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"We can hope!" Matt says about this not turning into another Becky situation. "She did actually agree to go out with him, so he's got that going for him." A smile there, he really did hope for the best with Foggy's date even if experience told him to be cautiously optimistic at best.

As to the other business, "Wait? What?" he asks, surprised. He figured it was some sort of undercover thing, but not power stealing Neo Nazis, which sounded like some superhero Mad-Lib.

"So, what happened?" he asks her about the encounter as he picks up his own slice of pie to eat while he listens.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Well, even if the odds might not be on Foggy's side Daisy was hopeful too. Love wins, or so she hopes. But recent events had made her feel that there was indeed a chance for love to come through and win it all. Or how would she be sitting out here with Matt right now if not for that? But her thoughts don't linger on it too much .., instead she continues on about her mission.

"I was answering a call on a SHIELD channel, turns out it was an ambush. A group is trying to hunt out people with powers, and I took the short straw apparently." Bit of a frown creeping up to her expression. "Six militaries came on me in some alley out in New Jersey." she says, "Luckily I got some backup soon enough, but they had a weapon which was able to read my powers apparently. One of them injected himself with it." a pause, "It apparently reads mutant DNA, very unstable but ..." and she shakes her head slowly.

"Let me tell you, it was very ..., scary fighting against someone with my powers.."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Indeed, love did sometimes win out, like it did with him and Daisy, now he just had to hope it would do the same for Foggy.

Matt listens in full lawyer mode, drinking in the details as Daisy lays out the story. "Did they look like the sort to come up with this tech on their own or do you think someone was using them to test it?" he asks. When he thinks Neo Nazi militia, he doesn't immediately jump to super-science tech.

Setting down his pie he reaches over and puts his hand on Daisy's arm. "I bet," he says. "Hard to shift to dealing with someone who can do what you do. How was the learning curve with those powers? Did they know what they were doing right off or were they all over the place with it?" he asks. "And, same guy who did the robbery?" he asks about the one Daisy fought. "Or can they clone powers multiple times?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"They were pros. Military." Daisy shaking her head still. "Whoever designed these is someone else. The weapon though, it was hand-crafted, a masterful craft too. So it tells me there most likely aren't many of these out there. "But clearly nazis, they had all the ... speech, and fully fanatic. Maybe some egghead that shares their ideals or ..., something worse." she could say Hydra..., there had been some encounters with them.. But she wasn't really sure about it.

"They didn't have the same problems I did when I received it." And that is certainly frustrating to her, considering all she had to do to master it! "They knew the most basics, which was to send a shockwave, but without getting hurt by it. Or at least not by my powers directly. That serum was unstable though, the person we captured with those powers died a few days after, heart failure."

The question if it was the same one brings her to shake her head. "No, it was either someone that was there on the location and we didn't spot or they transmitted it. The weapons apparently are capable of that. Short range I am guessing. We have been developping a way to track them down through those powers. We are hoping soon."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
There's a wry 'heh' at the bit about them having control right away, "Cheaters," he remarks with the same dry humour. It had been a struggle for both of them to master their powers it hardly seemed fair that some Nazi terrorist could steal some and be ready to use them right away.

He nods at Daisy's assessment of the tech and the people using it. "Dangerous combination, especially if they're willing to die to stealing powers like that." That sort of fanaticism was thankfully rare, but deadly when coupled with powers and heavy weapons.

"Anything I can do to help?" he asks her. "Even if it's keeping an ear out for any rumours about these guys. Also, it okay if I warn the Defenders? They've all got powers I'd hate to see in the wrong hands."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Right..?" Daisy says about those nazi cheaters, taking another bite out of her pie. Well at least the pie was delicious, made the conversation a bit more palatable. That careful balance between a beautiful dinner under the fleeting sun of New York and talking about nazis.. "Our idea is that whoever got the power may have been training it. If it's only one person with it, that is." which would be scary enough if there were many like her out there..

"And our own eggheads are looking for some ways to track both the transmitters but also adapting some seismic readers to try and detect my own waves..."

Yet when Matt asks if he can help it makes Daisy watch him with a speculative gaze. She ponders briefly and then asks him. "How far do you think you could really extend your senses?" she questions, not something she was aware of yet, what his limits were. If he had any! "Because you are .., rather attuned to my own frequency." for a whole host of reasons, most of which make it that a bit of color comes to her cheeks.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
True! Nazi's weren't a rooftop picnic sort of topic but then Matt and Diasy didn't lead ordinary lives.

He nods, "Definitely hope it's just one of them, an army of Quakes, an army of Nazi Quakes, make that, isn't something we want to have to deal with."

Another wry 'heh' follows. "And I thought my life was weird before when all I had to deal with was ninjas."

Then onto his senses, "Depends on where I am. In the right spot I can hear for miles," he shares that smile about how he knows her frequency so well. "So, thinking of using me as a fake-Quake detector then?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Just hearing that name .., nazi quake, makes me .., mmmmm..." Daisy's expression turning into an upset one, not at Matt, but at the whole situation. Yes, things could turn weird at SHIELD. Just a normal day at the office for her! But ninjas, well, that's weird alright! "Ninjas? Do you mean guys in black pajamas with shurikens...?" sure, she knew some underworld crime syndicates liked to use them.., or at least their legend! But as she had yet to see one. And everyone knows ninjas don't exist until you see one. But she was smiling faintly.

When Matt announces he might able to detect the frequency she folds her lips together, yes there was a plot forming up on her mind ..., oh yes.. even if there were risks associated. "Assuming they are actually using my own powers..., or even just having them inside, it might trigger enough waves within their bodies so it can be detected. But there is a problem with this, if other SHIELD agents get involved."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Shifting over Matt puts his arm around Daisy's shoulders sensing her upset at the existence of a Nazi-Quake. "You guys will take care of them," he promises her. After all, nobody as reckless as the power-thief was going to stay off SHIELD's radar for long. "And yes, those kinds of ninjas, we're dealing with them smuggling in some artifacts, like the ones in that ledger I showed you." He just didn't mention the ninja part then. "For all they sound like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon, those big scars on my chest and side are from one of them."

Matt nods about the plan to track down the Fake-Quake, "I figured that might come into it. I see two ways to deal with the other agents, one, I do the searching on my own and only contact SHIELD through you. Either that or I wear my suit and we pretend Daredevil is just a contact of yours, not your boyfriend in a suit," he says with a smile at that last part.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"And yes, also feel free to tell the other Defenders." Daisy replies to the question Matt had asked earlier, "We have been keeping it low due to not wanting to cause further panic.., specially after all those other news coming out.." she exhaling slowly, welcoming that arm around her shoulders. It also makes it so they are close enough that Daisy can offer Matt some of her pie, bringing the small fork up to him. Because hugs get paid with pie! "I fear this is turning into a powder keg.., the mutants and what happened in Genosha.. Now Stryker coming out with that speech.."

But she doesn't go for too long into that issue.. She should focus on taking care of what she can actually influence right now. "Coming with us might be best, we don't take long scrambling a team but if we want to get them we will need all the help we can get." then she lifting a brow at Matt. "And you can kick my ass at times so...." not that they had ever fought for real though!

"Maybe I can show you a bit on how SHIELD works too.."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Nodding Matt says, "I'll make sure they keep it low key, just don't want any bullet proof Nazis running around the city, y'know?" he says, knowing how Luke would take that. "Though I pity the Nazi who tries to steal Jess' powers." As for Danny he wasn't sure his powers were the type you could steal. He was pretty sure the Nazis would need to punch a dragon? It was complicated.

Taking the offered pie with a smile on his face, "I hear you, it's a dangerous time, but, like you said, deal with the things you can fix. Like these Nazi's. The rest will get sorted out too," he says with confidence.

Matt nods about coming along, "Alright, if you think that's best, then I'm in, but I'm not giving my real name or any DNA samples. I trust you Daisy, and I trust your friends, but me and SHIELD as a whole, we don't see eye to eye."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"There is something though..., the weapon they use seems to need to be 'charged' somehow. It was only when I -really- unleashed that they could make it work. So something to keep in mind. The less powers are used, the better." But yes, Daisy doesn't know how it would work on some of the defenders, or if it would work at all. Crazy mad SCIENCE. She felt lucky not belonging to R and D.

"I am hoping so .. And I truly hope we won't have to intervene one way or another.." because she knew if SHIELD had too meant things had gotten way too dire by then. Yet they were right, focus on what they can fix. And nothing like fixing some nazis...

When Matt speaks about not giving DNA samples or his name it makes Daisy blink once. "I don't think anyone would ask you for that." but she then offers a devious grin. "Only if they find you cute, then someone might ask you for your phone number, mmm?" she can't help but laugh at it, taking another bite from the pie. "I will set something up."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt tilts his head considering that, "Good to know," he says. "So if someone's not really letting their powers out the machine might not be able to copy them. I'll let the others know about that too," he says before wondering aloud. "I wonder what 'all out' looks like with my powers?"

Nodding Matt says, "Good," he definitely still had a lawyer's distrust for shadowy government agencies even if Daisy was a part of one. "Well, they're not getting that either," he says, his mood lightening about one of them asking for his number. "Why settle for just any SHIELD agent when I've got the best one right here," he says leaning in to give her a kiss to the cheek to go along with the flattery.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Flatterer..." Daisy says with a snort when he mentions she being the best Agent. It does bring a grin out of her though, leaning her head up to receive that kiss on the cheek. "Though it's getting you a few points for tonight. You can keep them coming.." a teasing chuckle escaping her lips and she letting herself relax, turning so her back is to Matt and she can rest back against him, head to his shoulder while she looks out towards Hell's Kitchen, the sun having finally went down and left them with just the city lights.., and to some with the night sounds that accompany it.

"Have you ever went all out with your powers?" Daisy then asks, curious, offering the last bite of the pie up to Matt, because she is generous like that.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt wraps his arms around Daisy as she leans against him, his head resting on her shoulder as the city lights illuminate the neighbourhood around them. "I'll consider it," he says of winning more points tonight. Keeping up their playful banter.

As for his powers, "Maybe when I was just learning them. For me my powers are always on full blast, it's not even a conscious thing to reach out to the longest possible range, for me the real challenge is filtering things out. If I let go, I hear everything all at once, and its overwhelming, so, my teacher hammered into me filtering things out, only letting in the things I want, the things I need, so it became a reflex, I just do it without thinking about it. To let go fully would be to drop all those filters and just let it all hit me again. I'd probably black out."

He ponders. "Probably means I'm always vulnerable to that device now that I think about it, gonna be pissed if they can automatically filter things like they automatically knew how to use your powers." For both of them the control they gained was a major accomplishment. He takes the offered bite of pie.

"How about you? Ever let loose besides that time with the Nazis?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"So you need to be controlling it all the time.." Daisy nods at this. She was aware of some of it by now, even if she sometimes enjoyed having Matt lose a bit of that control. Relaxedly, she lets her head rest against Matt's while they just rest there, enjoying the end of their dinner and the night air brushing through. She brings one leg up against her chest. The question about having let loose makes her press her lips together...

"I have.." It had been one of the reasons she had been taken away from SHIELD and into that safe house. "When I couldn't control it well it was all or nothing.. It didn't.., go well." she lets out a sigh.

"I don't think I have ever gone -all- out though. Close but not really.." a pause. "It's not something I really like thinking about, which makes me even more scared about what these people may be capable of.. or how far they will go."

Quake, Destroyer of Worlds anyone?

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Pretty much, I don't think about it mostly, but that's why when something knocks me off balance sort of white out, just too much input all at once," Matt says with a small smile.

Instinctively he holds her tighter when she talks about letting loose. He remembered how terrified she had been of her powers when she came to him for help and hearing this made that make sense. "I am sorry," he offers quietly, this time hugging her close on purpose before slackening his hold on her. "And we'll just have to find them before we find out how far they are willing to take things. Just let me know when and where I can link up with SHIELD and we'll get this done."
