Synopsis: MJ comes over to be wowed with intelligence and ice cream.
Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter paces the length of the lab.

He has been working on a lot this week, but with high school over and the summer coming up, there is some time to devote to this.

Mary Jane Watson has someone in her body with her, a seasoned warrior from a bygone age, and the more they know, the better.

He had invited MJ over using the term "Red Storm" as a code word for stuff dealing with Red Sonja. He wondered how often they would be using that code.

Aunt May knew to send MJ back while she worked on a few things for the church meeting.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
When MJ got the text, she knew what was up with the code phrase. So she said a quick goodbye to Aunt Anna, who smiled knowingly at the girl since, yes, she was going over to see Peter at May's place.

Arriving shortly after, May grinned back at MJ and said, yes, Peter's downstairs and why don't you have a wheatcake and some milk to go with it. Not one to turn down a good wheatcake, MJ accepted, bringing down a small plate of wheatcakes as well as a glass of milk.

Her duffelbag holding her sword is slung over her shoulder, and she doesn't seem to be having trouble managing the plate, and bag, and the glass... pretty decent coordination anyway, as she flashes a smile over at Peter, "Hey Tiger, what's up?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter looked up from the table and smiled. "Hey, MJ. I was hoping you had some time. I was working on a few things between fighting rat hybrids in the sewers, and decided to put together some info that your 'Plus One' might be able to confirm for us."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ arches a brow, but sets down the plate and glass on the edge of the table. "Cool, wait. Rat hybrids?" She grins wryly, "She's a bit irked that she missed out on the fighting there." A soft chuckle, as she leans forward, tilting her head at Peter.

"What'd you find out?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckled. "Sonja, my Spider-Suit is going through the wash for the FIFTH time after that foray. The hybrid calls himself Vermin. He's just some poor schmuck who was abused as a child and turned into a rat-person against his will. He's at Bellevue right now, and I hope he responds to treatment."

Peter sits down and taps a couple of keys on his tablet. The lights dim, but a holographic image of the planet appears, with 2020 AD (Anno Domini) under it. "Okay...this is the world we know now."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane nods, "Not Common Era... alright." She looks over at the hologram, arching a brow at the tech, "Pretty impressive tech there, Tiger." Her lips quirk in a grin as she tilts her head.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckles. "Okay...now, let's push the clock back."

Another keytap, and the number starts counting down to zero, then counts up with B.C. replacing A.D. The number stops at 10,000 B.C., and Peter points to the area oc Central Europe. "Now, I was working on what info I had, but this is the region that used to be the domain of the tribes known as the Hyborians. There were many tribes, but they all became known as Hyborian." He looked to MJ. "Is this matching up with what Sonja knows?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ mmmms softly, "Somewhat... she's not used to that much detail on the world. It looks a lot different this way than the maps she had. Not that there were many." She looks a bit more introspective, as she's letting Sonja to the forefront to analyze what Peter's figured out so far.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods slowly. "There is a reference to the 'Great Cataclysm. Could have been the Great Flood, or a reference to the sinking of Atlantis. One of these days, I'd like to sit down with Sonja and have her tell of her experiences. They could have great historical value."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane nods, "Yes, the sense of scale feels... off. She seems to recognize certain aspects of it, but she wasn't a cartographer, she doesn't know exactly where Hykarnia was, for instance." Her lips curve into a frown, as she jabs a finger towards an area of the map, a bit further down by the Middle East, "This seems a bit more appropriate, I think."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods. "I was able to identify some areas. Cimmeria...Hyperborea...Hyrkania. There are others. It looks like the Hyborians tended to absorb or destroy other tribes. There is a reference to an ancient kingdom. Acheron. A few other smaller kingdoms, Corinthia, Khitai to the east..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane nods, "Those sound familiar... though she's finding some of that a bit hazy. It's been a while, and it seems like her spirit was in that sword. It's unclear, honestly." She rubs her head a bit, looking pretty deep in thought.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods. "That reminds me. I wanted to get some samples from that sword, as well as some pictures." He points to the mass spectrometer. "Since most of this if from before recorded history, an analysis of their technological level would be useful. What happened to drop the world back to Bronze?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane hrms, "She's not entirely sure. But is blaming sorcerers trying to exceed their station... which, well, can't exactly blame her." She considers, "But sure, here... figured you'd want to see it."

With that, she sets the bag down, unzipping it and pulling the greatsword out. "Here you go, Peter."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter takes the sword carefully, placing it on the table. First, he takes pictures of it from every angle. "We've got steel workmanship here. Someone had their brains on to develop this."

He continues to talk as he works. "So, what have you been introducing Sonja to in the modern world?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane grins, "Very casually... she loves motorcycles, and racing. Also, sports. She's very much in favor of football and basketball. Which is a bit disconcerting... not really my thing, though that's changing a bit." She hmms, "Also some literature, which... bores her terribly, to be honest. But she liked Melville."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter takes a few scrapes at the steel along the grain, then along the hilt. "Oh, REALLY? Tell me, dear heart, have you introduced her to ICE CREAM yet? Because Aunt May and I made strawberry ice cream today."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ blinks, then blushes, "Well... not yet..." She grins, then looks intently at Peter, arching a brow, "Yes, tell me, what is this /ice cream/ you speak of? It is made of strawberries?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter grins almost evilly. "MJ, why don't you make a bowl of ice cream? We have whipped cream and strawberry topping as well. Only don't have any until you bring it back down here. I want to see the look on Sonja's face."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane snickers, "You are just wicked, you know that?" With that, she goes back upstairs, vanishing for a few minutes, then coming back down with two bowls of ice cream, with whipped cream and strawberries.

MJ then sits down with her bowl, leaving one for Peter on the table as she shivers a bit, her expression growing quizzical, as she lets Sonja into the driver's seat.

The warrior maiden looks curiously at the cold bowl, "Alright, Boy-Spider, let's see this..." With that, she takes the spoon and tries it. Her eyes go wide, "That's /cold/... but delicious! How do you make such things as this? Magic?!?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter is finishing putting the samples in the mass spectrometer when she comes back down, setting it to run and watching with interest.

After Sonja speaks, Peter smiles. "Cream, sugar, strawberries, and patience. Plus a lot of ice." He looks to MJ with a smirk. "You should take her a tour of the appliances in the kitchen. It is said that Julius Caesar himself did not have access to the extravagances present in a middle-class home in 2020."

He sits down again and picks up the bowl. "Wait until you try Aunt May's apple pie. We have the benefit of access to ingredients shipped from all over the world."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Sonja's eyes go wide at that, "Such decadence... it's impressive." She then takes another slower bite of the ice cream, her lips lingering on the spoon as she slowly withdraws it from her mouth.

The entire time, she's looking directly at Peter, a hint of mischief in her eyes as she apparently can also play the evil sneaky game, as well. Now, whether that's MJ or Sonja or a group effort... that's hard to say.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter looks up at MJ while Sonja (or Sonja/MJ) is doing this and...

Why is "Oh Yeah" by Yello playing in his head?

He looks down quickly and takes a bite of his own snack.

"Uhmm...right. Okay. Anyway, there are some nations that seem to have their borders matching or being close to some of these Hyborian nations..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins cheerfully at Peter, "Okay, she definitely approves. If that wasn't clear enough." She then tosses a cheerful wink to Peter, eating the ice cream in a far less... provocative way. More's the pity, but Sonja made her point.

Or maybe MJ did.

Or maybe they're working together.

Heaven help us!

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter blinked. *Holy Cow, I'm outnumbered.*

"So...Sonja, are there any questions you haven't yet asked? I have no idea how much of a culture shock you're dealing with..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Sonja hrms, "Mary Jane has been very instructive about most things... I have been eager to learn more about these... motorcycles. Horses, but machines, and far faster. This has a great appeal to me."

She pauses, and then grins wolfishly, "Also, I wish to meet this John Wick, even though Mary Jane assures me he is fictional. A pity." Apparently she has the hots for Wick, which... well, considering Sonja makes perfect sense.

Then MJ ahems, "Hey now, my body, Peter's my boyfriend, you have to deal with watching the movies."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckles. "Well, this seems like a good time to bring up this subject." He takes out a small box that looks like a box for a Starkphone. "I recently developed a communication system to keep like-minded heroes connected and informed. I call it Spider-Comm."

He looks to MJ. "I also have a number of non-Spider types I have designated as 'Honorary Spiders.' I was wondering how you might feel about joining the ranks."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins, "Wait... like, me, joining the Spiders?" She stands up and moves to Peter, placing her hand on the box, fingers lingering against his, "Peter... I'd love to! I really want to meet the other Spiders and work together." Her lips quirk in a bright smile, "I mean, I definitely wouldn't mind some extra training, too..."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckles. "Well, you might be surprised who else is connected."

He opens the box, and unpacks the items. A contact lens box with a USB cable coming out of it. A set of Bluetooth earbuds. A thin black choker. And finally, a set of thin leather gloves.

"The contacts are for an augmented-reality display. Go ahead and put everything on."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins at the choker, "Why Peter... I didn't get you anything." She winks, and puts on the items as requested, choker first, then the earbuds and the gloves. Her eyes flicker to the box with the USB cable, then over at Peter.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter smirks as he pulls out the tablet. "You have to recharge them somehow. Suspending them in a pH-neutral solution will recharge them."

He taps a few keys, and then a message in a rectangular box suddenly appears in front of MJ's eyes, seeming to hover five feet in front of her eyes. The word in the box says, "CALIBRATING..."

Then it disappears as another message comes up. "Say, 'I am MJ. My voice is my passport. Admit me.'"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins at Peter, "I remember this movie!" She snickers, unable to help herself, "Should I call you Whistler?"

With that, she says, "I am MJ. My voice is my passport. Admit me." She can't help but giggle slightly at that, marveling at the tech demonstrated by Peter. "When did you have time to develop all of this, Peter?!?"

Peter Parker has posed:
"Well...I don't get out all that much." Peter snickers, and then the message box disappears, to be replaced by a HUD with icons around her peripheral vision. "Now, the choker is a subvocal microphone, so you can speak without actually making a sound."

As MJ looks at Peter, a box appears over his head.

PETER PARKER
Mostly Harmless

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ snickers, "Yeah, um... I think your database is outdated, Peter. Mostly harmless, huh?" She arches a brow, looking a bit disbelieving about that. "This is pretty amazing, though... wow." She hmms, looking around curiously, then casts a glance down at her sword.

Peter Parker has posed:
There is a brief pause, then the box pops up over it.

Now, whe have a chat/instant message feature. You can see who's connected, who is offline, and who you can send messages to."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins, "Well, that's awesome... you've really been putting a lot of work into this, Peter. I'm impressed." And she's not just saying that, she sounds genuinely amazed by all the effort that's gone into doing all this coordination and tech.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter sighed. "The biggest problem we have is working together. And that comes from being unable to reach out, to communicate and coordinate. Spider-Comm is meant to address that exact very thing."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane nods at Peter, "Makes sense. You need to be able to have active communication and coordination in order to effectively work as a team. These mystical widgets are good for that, but they still need to learn to work together, to use their strengths to cover up other's weak points." She starts talking a bit tactically here, as she channels Sonja's knowledge there.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter grins. "A wise man once said that science of a sufficiently-advanced level is indistinguishable from magic. But I will teach you how to use this effectively." Peter looked around. "And we'llsee what we can do together."
