Synopsis: A lesson in testing ones limits is given and passed!
Cast of Characters: Bishop, Patty Sloan, Kevin Sydney

Bishop has posed:
WIth 'Storm - Mistress of The Elements!', local weather goddess extraordinaire, a leader among the X-Men, it goes without saying that The Danger Room is equpped with a number of instruments and programming that deals with atmospheric disturbances and weather phenomonan. Whether the effect deals with the lightest leaf jostling breeze or the ranging winds of a great hurricane or funnel cloud - The Danger Room can accommodate.

IT is with this in mind that Lucas Bishop operates one of the touch panels on the room wall near the massive reinforced entry doors, and dances his fingers over various settings to activate the rooms built in anemometers and additional holographic displays mean to keep close watch on the vital signs and biological signatures of the individuals within.

The room sits in its normal cavernous cold sci-fi inspired silver-metal base state but several hard light constructs of various geometric objects of varied shapes and sizes have been materialized within the room center. Overhead, additional hard-light constructs in the form of hoops , rings and other aerial obstacles hang - these intended to test the manueverability of those with flight or great acrobatic capability. LIkely borrowed from some of Nightcrawlers and Beasts exercises.

But really, it is the Danger Room, so any number of surprises could pop up at any mmoent in time at the behest of the programmer and Bishop mmms quietly to himself...pausing to rub his jaw...before punching in a few more random key-strokes. One should expect the unexpected in The Danger Room after all.

Patty Sloan has posed:
Testing day. Its a day that Patty had dreaded for a while. She needed to find out what she could do though. That was the whole purpose behind this. What's more, She has no idea what's going to be thrown at her in the Danger Room. Still She is committed to finding out just what she can do so, she makes her way down into the Sub-basement. From there she enters the danger room.

"Hello! I'm here. What kind of chaos do you have for me?" She asks in a near playful tone. She breathes deep as she looks around the big empty room. She is dressed for the occasion too. She is dressed in a black tee with slits in the back for her wings. A Pair of black pants grace her legs and a pair of brown boots are on her feet. She is as ready as she can be.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph follows Patty into the room proper and is surprisingly just his typical albino form at the moment comprised with snazzy jacket and X decor proudly displayed. He rubs his chin curiously and then smiles at Patty, "Well hello again! Nice job against A.I.M. the other day. Thanks for pitching in on the rescue."

He squints and gazes up at the various obstacles, debating what form might be appropriate then waves up toward Bishop. "Let me know if I should be participant or obstacle! I can add a little extra to the D-d-d-d-d-danger."

Bishop has posed:
"Morph. Patty."

Bishop's greeting is brusque but what do you expect? He's dour future-cop man. There's enough subtlety in his behavior though that his words can be taken as a friendly greeting though. One simply has to know 'Bishop-Speak'.

"...Don't worry Patty. I won't be shooting missiles at you. Yet..."

Bishop doesn't look up just yet as he finishes locking down the various inputs he's done to the room. Making sure the safety protocols are set and then keying in remote access to a flat-screen pad held in his other hand so he can activate additional things as needed without having to return to the wall or go up to the contorl room.

Morph's words to Patty were noted as well and the large man grunts. "Right. For someone that was less then thirty yards away from The Juggernaut the other day on a field mission , Patty....you should be ready for anything no?"
He smirks mildly at that though there's -also- a slight air of disapproval as well. The X.S.E. Commander isn't fond of the idea of untrained, untested and possibly unskilled new Institute members hurtling head first into dangerous combat scenarios

...Buuuut....it's hard to argue with the results given the fact that mutant children were rescued and she was a major component of that effort.

"Yes...you both did good. Nice work Morph. But ...Let's just call that her trial by fire and back things up a little bit , shall we?" he adds to take the sting off of any hint of his prior disgruntlement. "Otherwise you both might be trying to storm Asteroid M on your own."

As he steps away from the wall he gestures for Patty to follow him towards the room center but then pauses to add towards Morph, "...And that's a good idea. I'd appreciate your help. I think we need to get an idea of precisely what she can and can't do."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"It was quite freaky. Though I wasn't the one up close and personal with the Juggernaut. That would be Monet. I was focused on getting the mutants free. Thankfully those sciencey types didn't know I was there. I blame their sad excuse for lighting in that warehouse." Patty comments not really taking a lot of credit for anything she did. All that mattered was she got to help some people that really needed it. That was the important thing.

She follows Bishop over to the edge of the room. "I know I can fly and I can generate wind." She laughs a little as she looks at Bishop. "I dunno how strong my wind can get or how fast I can fly." She states as she looks around the big empty room knowing it won't be that way much longer.

She turns to Morph and smiles, "Thank you and happy to help." She grins and leans against the wall.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
"I only storm Asteroids on Tuesdays, so you have a whole week to make sure I get better at it." Morph jests and then nods at Bishop's acceptance of potential help.

Rubbing his chin some more, Morph considers what might be useful to test flight and wind generation, but ultimately decides to leave it to the professional for now.

"Big Red was not supposed to be there. Some A.I.M. last minute shenanigans. I would have called in the biggest guns if I had known, but fortunately, Monet appealed to his morality.. and even more lucky, he had some." Morph nods.

Bishop has posed:
"Expect the unexpected and expect it to not be good." confirms Bishop. "I'm surrpised and yet not surprised but fortunantely you all weren't hurt...well.."
5rHe pauses. There is that report about Monet.

"Mostly not hurt... and beyond that..that the mutants were saved so again good work."

He allows a slight smile as he glances to Morph, "So I guess we have a week to put you through your paces then..."

With that he gestures for Patty to move towards the room center, "Let's get a sense for her limits first. The room has sensors akin to what is used to measure the wind speeds of storms. Ororo's capabilities are ...-mostly-...measured this way...and it's the same science used out in the world but of course far more sensitive. There's key things that we need to focus on. Range. Power and control."

He considers if the staying in the control room would have been safer but her being able to see and converse with him and Morph may be benefical and less scary for her.

" Morph and I will pull back but I want you to start reaching out with your gift when I give the say so, beginning immediately around you and then expanding . Try and keep the winds moderate but sustained and keep reaching out as far as he can.."

He looks over the room, "Understanding your field of influence is important. Can you effect all air int he Danger Room? Do you tire based on volume of air you're attempting to manipulate? Things you need to know."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty nods and walks into the center of the room. She takes a few deep breathes as she prepares herself to show just what she can do. "I have no idea if I can affect all the air in the danger room. I've not tried to manipulate air on that level yet. But there is a time and place for everything so I guess this is that."

With that she focuses and lets her arms hang by her sides. She turns them so her palms are forward and then, the air starts moving in the room. Not just a little bit of it but the air in the entire room. It begins blowing from back to front. Right now its only a breeze but its slowly getting faster. The wind speed quickly passes ten miles per hour as she grows more confident in what she is doing.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph gives Bishop a thumbs up and starts walking a little bit away. Once he's closer to a wall, he crouches and then holds up his hands where he grows a few pinwheels out of his index fingers. He blows on one of them to send it sending, then nods to himself, "Ready to test!"

He puts on his most comical serious face and stares at Patty in intense observation. Indeed, a monocle appears on a cheek bone. Its a very formal amount of scrutiny.

Then Patty begins. Morph nods impressed, "At least 16 kilometers per hour."

Not that the Danger Room or Bishop need that reading from Morph's primitive pinwheel methods.

Bishop has posed:
"Huh."

Bishop is...impressed. The Danger Room is -not- small after all. It's a certified cavernous space and given who it functions for...it has to be. That Patty seems to be able to reach out and seize control over the air is...not insignifigant.

"..We may have to end up going to the control room.." he asides to Morph with a side eye and then looks back to the readouts in his hand.

"Continue increasing Patty. Don't worry about us. If it gets problmatic I"ll raise a field."

The various installed grid devices are more then capable of doing so but hopefully it won't become dangerous or necessary.

"Keep going."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty nods, "Okay. Pushing it a bit more!" She calls out as the wind picks up a bit more. If there were any thing light in the danger room it would be moving now. The wind speed picks up to about twenty miles per hour. She closes her eyes. The wind starts changing directions, swirling around the girl. Her focus is on making the wind blow, not directing it right now. The wind picks up even more, becoming a strong breeze, easily passing thirty miles per hour. She flutters her wings and lifts up off the ground for a moment or two before landing again. A smile crosses her face as she keeps going.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph's pinwheels start really turning. He cheers, "Wooo, look at 'em go! Way to go Patty! You are killing it."

He then offers a faint smile toward Bishop, "Yea, control room. Maaaybe not a bad idea." He confesses.

He unmorphs the pinwheels before one of them gets blown off and then proceeds to transform his feet into big heavy metal boots. He stomps toward the entry with big clanks, but is at least not getting blown around.

Bishop has posed:
"Right." Looks likehe underestimated her. "Keep going!" Bishop yells at her before following after Morph discreetly as possible. The control room doors slide open, allowing ascent up to it easily enough. Bishop keeps facing Patty, allowing Morph to go first.

"Let's see how far she can push it how long she can maintain it..." he asides to the shapechanger before ducking into the room with him.

Patty Sloan has posed:
More Wind! Patty is in the eye of the wind storm right now so her hair isn't even being tossed. She showed she can move all the air in the danger room but right now its about the wind speed and strength. It keeps building, passing forty miles per hour, now a full on gale force wind. She focuses and breathes deep as she continues to move the air. fifty miles per hour and still rising. She isn't breaking a sweat yet. Her heart races as she continues pushing the wind. Its the excitement of really finding out what she can do. Sixty miles per hour and she shows her first signs of letting up. She could actually do some damage if she tried. Still the wind speed continues to rise up over seventy miles per hour.

The speed picks up just a little more before it stabilizes at around seventy five miles per hour. Now she is starting to sweat. Now she feels the limit hit her as she continues to let the wind blow. She keeps it up for the time being, letting the storm winds rage.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph clomps his way into the control room and then shifts his boots back to normal. Stepping over to one of the control panels, he leans forward and observes. "Wow... Considering the sheer volume of air in that room, this is really impressive. I wonder if she can exceed seventy when a small controlled blast, or if that's just a natural cap."

He hums deeply and ponders unique applications of such a power. "You know, I bet she could blow the roof off of buildings with air pressure. Maybe even knock people out with sudden air pressure fluctuations. You know... like on an airplane."

Bishop has posed:
"I think we got her.." says Bishop, looking at the readouts and nodding abit as the monitors in the control room flash with the steady windspeed and his monitoring of her vitals shows the accelerating heart rate or other signs of her physical stress.

But what's a muscle if you don't work it.

"Try to maintain this wind speed for as long as you can!" he says after clicking the mic on.

"Sorry Morph.." he then adds,a pologetically to his fellow X-Man, "It loks like you're going to have to wait a second for your own work out unless you want to go out in that..."

He nods to the question though, "That's a good question. We'll have to find that out but lets see how long she can maintain that...and..."

He notes her presence in the eye of the storm, "...now that we're in here..let's see if she can handle some resistance.."

Indeed, Storm can command the weather to yield to her even if a storm is already raging but can Patty do the same?

With them safe in the room and the hard light objects vanishing at a flick of a finger, Bishop activates the rooms own weather manipulation abilities. The same used to challenge the weather goddess. He starts amping the winds up as hidden fans and generators begin creating a counter vortex to the one Patty is controlling... building up the pressure to try and push back against her winds in an opposing rotation. "Lets see if she can fit the winds or seize control over them...and how long she can last..."

Kevin Sydney has posed:
"Eh, don't worry about it. I was born with my powers, so... I've got a pretty good handle of where my limits are. If anything, I just need to prove them to a few of the older pros like you, so you can get me out of this trainee desgination." Morph grins and shrugs. "Way more exciting to see what someone else's limits are."

"But...!" He grows aviation goggles on top of his head and pops a few very angel like wings. "This does seem like flying practice on nightmare mode."

He runs back over to the door, opens it letting a rush of air into the control room then leaps back out into the tempest. "Tally... HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty continues moving the wind at its storm force speeds. Its a challenge and she is definitely feeling it. Then the situation starts to change. She can feel the wind blowing counter to her own. It doesn't take much for her to ease up on her own wind and start using the wind being generated by the danger room. She starts moving that too and brings it all back up to speed. Its more difficult but she can do it. The wind speed dies down just a little. She maintains the speed of the wind at about sixty-five miles per hour. She focuses and starts pushing herself to make the wind go faster. It picks up another five miles per hour, with her having to redirect the additional wind.

Bishop has posed:
Bishop double takes as Morph deliberately decides to go out in that. He doesn't offer a word of warning or advice to the metamorph though. Despite his 'trainee' designation...Bishop seems to have a good sense that, regardless of Morphs humor and antics, he's got a good grip on things...probably a tad bit more then some of the supposed 'non' trainees to be frank so far as the X.S.E. man is concerned.

Hmm." he grunts while looking back to the wind situation and seeing that Patty has not only managed to counter the wind force being generated she takes it under her control.

"Well now....-that- is interesting.." he considers while also again looking at her vital signs to see how close she may be to tiring out.

Wiith Morph diving into the winds, however, he's presented with a slight dilemma and he considers his options for a few secons before...

Cranking it up anyway. He wants to no longer be a trainee right?

"Let's see how you handle this......."

He takes a page from Morph's suggestion and rediirects the wind from circulating the room in counter to Patty and instead sends a directed blast of steadily increasing wind power in a straight line wind blast that begins at the far end of the room and comes rushing in towards Patty - and Morph if falls into wind tunnel's area of effect - starting it off at thirty miles per hour and then rapidly escalating it to see how fast she can counter its effects, if at all.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph does a fairly decent job of navigating the treacherous winds. Wings are something he's practiced with a LOT in his lifetime. They were a very natural thing to experiment with in his youth.

His next trick requires a little more skill. Abruptly, his clothes turn black and a witch's hat sprouts from the top of his head along with a broomstick. He adjusts his density to be effective buoyant within the air currents and effectively becomes a balloon.

"I'll get you my pretty!" He cackles madly and then is sucked into the wind tunnel. "Oh WHAT A WORLD!!"

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty feels the change really quick as the wind starts blowing on her. Then her attention goes to Morph and his antics. She laughs a little which does cause her to let up a little bit. She quickly regains control and then the air stops swirling around the room. Instead she starts blowing against the incoming wind. The instability in the atmosphere within the danger room results in something else happening. Thunder! She blinks at that and laughs. "I never did that before!" She exclaims as she keeps the wind going against the incoming wind.

Bishop has posed:
"Alright...you asked for it.." Bishop slowly grins.

He cranks it up again. Patty's limits already seemed like they were just shy of an F1 Hurricane and so now...it's time to bust past that.

He continues pushing and pushing, cranking the numbers up. Seventy five. Eighty. Eighty five.

Faster.

There's some bit of irony here that for mutants 'play' and 'training' is with forces that are cause for emergency alerts to be issued. Ironic, a blessing....and dangerous. Bishop's brow furrows ever so slightly but he continues to accelerate the wind power.

"Heh. Hnag in there Morph. You asked for it." he muttes, amused despite the prior darker thoughts.

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph visibly vibrates when he's hit by a wave of thunder. He puts a finger in his ear and wiggles it around. He couldn't really hear over the wind before, and now he's definitely not hearing anything.

However, he did see that he got a laugh, and for the mutant, Laughs are absolute gold. The goof ball lives for them, and thus a cheesy smile spreads over his features.

A moment later of bodily metamorphosis, Morph adopts the appearance of a very large flying squirrel. This is surprisingly tactical despite its cuteness. The whiskers and fur provide him with some extrasensory input to navigate the treacherous wind currents. The wind flaps obviously provide him the ability to glide.

He manages to change course and narrowly skim a wall. Oh, the aviator goggles are back but squirrel head adjusted.

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty fights back. She raises her windspeed and gets it going as fast as she can. Sadly its not match for the hurricane force winds being generated. She maintains the seventy-five mile per hour wind. She tries to make it faster but there is no luck. As she tries she winds up dropping to one knee. Then her own wind lets up. Quickly she redirects the incoming hurricane force wind so it flies around her. Even that is doing a number to her. Slowly heart rate accelerates as she fights to control the wind. Its not perfect but it keeps her from getting slammed with hurricane force winds.

Bishop has posed:
The goal is to test and push, not main or hurt. He could crank it higher but he thinks he's seen enough and the monitors have seen enough and more importantly..Patty has seen enough.

Not to say he turns it off right away but he does slow down the speed increase. If she were to start tumbling away into the wind...well..there are safety protocols in place. It's the Danger Room not the kill you where you stand room.

Which isn't to say that -can't- happen but that's not this sort of session.

"Alright that's enough!"

Bishop cranks the winds down all the way, moving rapidly with the touch screens as he brings his hands down but hopefully not -so- fast it'll send Morph spiraling through the air out of control when the wind pushback ceases.

Some things can't be helped though.

"Take it easy. Catch your breath. I'm on the way down..."

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph glides gracefully down to the ground and quickly reform into his usual albino humanoid self plus uniform. He makes a little 'Ta-Da' and pose then gazes over toward Patty.

"Righteous wind there, little lady." He offers in his best surfer voice combined with hand gesture. Rolling his neck and then a shoulder, he lets out a little sigh of relief. "That was definitely some hardcore flight training. I'll keep up with Ororo yet!"

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty focuses and slows the wind to a stop. Its not a fast thing. Its a gentle tapering off. Still the wind drops off quickly. seventy. Sixty. Fifty. Forty. Thirty. Twenty. and then it comes to a complete stop. Patty breathes heavy as she looks to Morph. She giggles, "Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. That was intense. I felt like I was one with the wind there for a bit." She laughs. "I know that sounds silly." She stretches and waits for Bishop to make his way down to the danger room proper.

Bishop has posed:
"I'm impressed. By both of you. Morph, I didn't realize you had that degree of fine control with your flight. That was..."

Bishop's heavy voice and footfalls rumble towards the duo as he draws near from the control room. He nods his head at the changeling as he comes to a stop. He seems to be very much re-evaluating things in his head. "..That was pretty amazing." he finally rumbles with some finality, granting the Xer solid compliment.

"..Keep it up and you might give Rogue and Ororo a run for their money but don't let them know I said that..." He smirks just a touch but then turns towards Patty.

"That was stellar Patty. How do you feel? One with the wind? That says quite abit. The more you use your powers and push them the more in tune with them you'll become. I think we learned a lot just doing that, wouldn't you agree? I don't want to tire you out so we can save a test for fine tune control for another time. Morph had some ideas about that, actually."

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph beams a smile, "Its uh... very situational, but I can thank mister Worthington for lessons. I haven't ever figured out how to duplicate Rogue or Ororo's effortless flying, but I've definitely put my own spin on it!"

"Thanks for the work out, sir. And you too, Patty. Neat to actually be down here using the big toys." He waggles his eyebrows, "But I think that's it for me today. Time to snooze!"

He grows a little sleeping cap and yawns before roaming toward the exit.

Patty Sloan has posed:
"Okay! This was really something. I never used my powers like this before. Usually I use make downbursts onto would be shooters. Or make a small gust of wind to blow a guns aim off. Moving the air on a large scale is one thing. Moving it in a small scale can be just as challenging. Its why I practice with a plastic bag sometimes. Just blowing it around without messing with a whole lot of air." Patty smiles and looks at Morph. "Oh What kind of Ideas did you have?" She asks curiously. Wanting to know what ideas he had.

Bishop has posed:
Bishop nods to Morph as he prepares to make his exit but he turns to say towards Patty as he folds his arms, "Time, training your body and your mind and even your age will all work together to strengthen you. You sould know that you top out around seveny miles per hour. That's right around where they place a Category 1 Hurricane give or take a few MPH. That's...not insignificant Wind speeds like that can topple trees, take down power lines. Even move unanchored mobile homes. You can very much push the average person around or stagger people wildly. It takes about a hundred and twenty mile an hour winds to actually -lift- a person so I don't think you'll be able to do any sort of fine tune flying with your winds alone or grant others flight like Ororo can but who knows. Perhaps you can increase that over time."

He gestures, "We also see you can seize control over winds generated by external forces. What we don't know is if you can take control over wind commanded by another elemental. For example if Ororo is commanding the winds ..can you counter her or seize what she's done? My instinct says no. There's others out there we know of as well with elemental abilities. We'll have to ask Storm to be present the next time we test you."

Kevin Sydney has posed:
Morph turns and faces Patty. "Ah right, ideas! Air pressure. You know if a plane explosively depresses, it knocks out everyone inside of it. People don't respond well to that kind of quick change."

"So if you can push air into a room and then quickly pull it out. Poof! Knock out!" He wobbles his head for effect.

"Similarly, you might be able to pop the roof off a building. At least, I heard that's something tornados can sometimes do by pushing air into a room. Not sure if that's actually true." He shrugs.

"You definitely should get Ororo to be your sempai. Its rare to find another mutant who's knowledge is so relevant to your abilities. I -wish- I could track down Mystique for some tips. Such a legend." He sighs dreamily then waves as he continues his exit.

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty looks at Morph and smiles. "I Probably could do that. It wouldn't be too hard. I know I made air in a vacuum once." She blushes. "That was the last X mission I was on. I haven't been on one since." She then turns to Bishop and nods, "I dunno if I could control wind thats already being controlled. That would be a rough fight. A battle of wills and since the only person I know who can do this is Storm, I highly doubt I'm going to take control of her wind!" She sighs and smiles, "I think I need to get some food in me. This was really tiring."

Bishop has posed:
Among the things bishop intends to have a talk with Scott about - one of them will be...sending untrained mentees on life and death missions or dangerous situations. It's a delicate matter. He knows they all want to help but it's a nightmare scenario for him to see them hurt or worse and that plastered on a news report when simply holding them back a little longer would be more ideal.

So he's not happy to be reminded of that 'mission' but...it's also not something he's got true control over...and the solution is -- well -- this. Train them.

"If you think you're tired now..." He warns. "..If you're serious about being able to aid us on missions and more..? You're going to learn the true meaning of tired. I will talk to Storm about you and we'll arrange more dedicated time in here. I hope you're ready."

Bishop smiles slightly and then also turns for the door, ready to lead the way back out to the hall and the upper levels.
