Synopsis: Mori has a job!
Cast of Characters: Mori Merritt, Ted Kord

Mori Merritt has posed:
While in New York, Mori's job prospects were meager. Her 'health' conditions made it hard to jump into the most basic jobs and given that she wasn't qualified for most other things, it left her few options. There were, of course, opportunities for artists. She hadn't intended to do anything big mostly because she wouldn't even know where to start--offering commissions online meant a small trickle of income while she practiced sketches and the like. Win-win.

Which led her here. Escorted in by a bot, she waits, her eyes scanning her surroundings and taking it in. An actual job that's more than just a sketch of someone's fanfiction character? Certainly worth looking into. She waits patiently, more than content to just look around.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord entrance is more subdued than his quarters, wearing a lab coat over his Blue Beetle uniform. He had shaved and washed up at least after what seemed like a long night. He's carrying a coffee pot and a couple of mugs. The hood is back, the goggles down around his neck, he looks sleepy. "Ahuh. Good morning. Thank you for being on time. Can I offer you, coffee, water, trampoline? He gestures at the exercise equipment with the pot. Then he indicates a desk and seats that has risen out of the floor. "have a seat if you're not going to jump on the trampoline. You must be Mori. Call me ted. It isn't Mr. Kord unless you mess up really bad. We're informal around here."

Mori Merritt has posed:
Mori's gaze slides slowly over the trampoline. For a moment, it appears she's considering it before she looks back over. "Ah, no, I'm fine," she says before making her way towards one of the newly risen seats. "Ted? Okay, that works for me. I'm better with the informal thing. I feel it's easier to communicate when you don't have to add that extra layer of..." She's forgotten her sentence for the moment, simply taking in the fact that the chair she'd just sat in just came out of the floor.

"I feel like we're in the Jetsons or something..."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord sits down and says, "The term you are looking for is BS. Ted is fine. Blue Beetle if I'm suited up. Anyway... I did a search for artists, saw some of your stuff on Deviantart, then ran into you again when I was checking that T3nn3r app. I liked what I saw. I am considering getting an artist in residence. I'd like you to do some sketches first to get an idea how good you can make me look. I'll pay for those according to the T3nn3r prices you named. Uhm, if I decide on you, I pay much more. If you become artist in residence I pay pretty well and have a good benny package. Anyway, I'd like three sketches right now of somethings around here that strike your fanc y. I'll give you an hour. One thing, not sure if I programmed the bots for it. I need to secure your cell phone. I have proprietary designs here." He opens a drawer in the desk and pours himself a cup of coffee fineally. He looks in the drawer, ahs and removes a non-disclosure form and pen and slides it to her. Holds a hand out for her phone.

Mori Merritt has posed:
Mori fetches her cell phone from her purse, offering it forward. "Sure, but don't do anything weird with it. If you bug it or something I'll find out and then you'll really regret it. Can't be too careful in New York." She shrugs, but sets about checking the NDA over carefully before signing it. Once that's done, she lets her gaze fall over the room. "Are you looking for art that's rooted in realism or something more inspired? They cast very different tones. I'd like to at least steer the art in the direction you'd like for potential final product."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord sticks the phone in the drawer. "Never going to touch it... might gift you a Kord Co Brilliant Phone. Uh... I like realistic. But with some degree of symbolism. Do whatever you like. I'll give feedback. I mean I'm not telling you to overhaul a bot. You're the expert." With that he starts on his coffee and begins fiddling with the robot. A section of the wall lights up to show a timer counting down.

Mori Merritt has posed:
The woman blinks a moment at the timer, pulling her sketchpad from her bag and a small pouch of pencils. "Timer's a bit dramatic, but I'm starting to think you like the theatrical," Mori notes. "I'll do my best to incorporate that." She doesn't sit idly by. Instead of just drawing immediately, she starts a slow walk of the room. She's taking things in, looking around for exactly what she thinks might make a good example sketch. It doesn't take her long. It's a wide sweep around the room before she returns to her chair, folding her legs up underneath her as she settles into a comfortable position to work on the sketches.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord stops his work a half hour in and rubs his eyes. He shakes a fist at the robot. Then he puts his hood and goggles in place and heads for the trampoline. He breaks into a running leap and then proceeds to work through a complicated series of acrobatics. It seems to combine acrobatics with martial arts as he practices a number of strikes in mid leap. This behavior goes on for a while. The robot begins building the rest of itself.

Mori Merritt has posed:
Mori has barely looked up in the process of the work, but she does glance over at the trampoline briefly with the tiniest hint of amusement. Her attention does go back to the sketches, though, and she continues them for the rest of the allotted time period. "Alright," she proclaims, two minutes left on the clock. She's indicating she's done but not that the timer needs to stop. She just watches it while she waits for the hour to be up.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord does a spectacular leap from the trampoline almost to Mori's feet. The goggles and hood come off. "Okay let's see what you got? I hope you didn't do a caricature of me as a VW, people used to send me those all the time."

Mori Merritt has posed:
The sketches are of three things in the room. First is the workbench, intricately detailed. It's done with a realistic style but the lines seem to be smoothed a bit for a sleek futuristic feel. The second is the robot, which seems to be building itself in the sketch, though it has an excited expression as it works on assembling. The third sketch is a very simple and clean drawing of the timer, mid-number change with one second left on the clock. However, down in the corner of that one appears to be what looks like a doodle--it's several poses of Ted jumping on the trampoline with an exaggeratedly happy look on his face. Mori offers all three forward with a smile. "I tried to get creative with it."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord oohs and as is the case with all artistic endeavors, spends the most time and attention on the doodles tacked on almost as a goof. "Oooh. I look like a comic book character! I love them... hey! Stop building yourself! I work alone! I've told you this. You are not repairing damage. You are being created!" He gently takes a tool from the robot's hand. "If you develop true AI... it's a whole legal mess. I get upset, you turn against mankind. We don't need none of that."

He turns to Mori and says, "I like them all. I'll write you a check right now for $300. Could you please sign that NDA? My lawyers insist. I can definitely use you. I need some paintings of the Bug, my dad, me... and I want to try you on some illustrations for technical manuals. When can you start?"

Mori Merritt has posed:
Mori seems a little surprised at the pricing, but she does /not/ question it. No looking a gift horse in the mouth. She does sign the NDA, glancing back over after she's done with that. "I can start whenever. Uh, I'm still a college student so I have classes but I can certainly work around them. I might need some occasional time off for, er, medical issues." That part's thrown in as a warning, and she looks a little sheepish about it.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord pats Mori on the shoulder, "Well, I'm not one to interfere with schooling. We can work around your classes. If we can get you enough time, you can qualify for medical coverage. I hope it's nothing serious. Anyway, I have your email. I will contact you in the next couple of days. I will have to ask you to come here to do your sketches for security reasons. I'm not sending pictures electronically. I might work something out with a drone for you. if you can email a list of times you are in class that would be very handy... stop building yourself. I told you once... no... I'm taking the screwdriver from you. You know... I could probably save a lot of money building bots halfway that handle the rest themselves... but I'm pretty sure that was what gave us Ultron." He continues working on the nearly finished bot, giving Mori a final wave.

Mori Merritt has posed:
"Sure, I can let you know my schedule. I appreciate the opportunity, Ted," Mori offers as she cleans up her supplies, making her way towards the door. "Don't hurt yourself on that trampoline, though, I'd hate to have to doodle you in a full body cast." With a wave, she heads off.
