Rien and Thither
Date of Scene: 25 June 2024
Location: Faculty Lounge
Synopsis: Monet asks for Rien on help for how to approach the future super soldier on the possible alterante timeline enemies that he's fighting. Sometimes you can only get perspective from someone else who is from a parallel post apocalyptic timeline.
Cast of Characters: Monet St. Croix, Rien D'Arqueness

Monet St. Croix has posed:
There were /things/ afoot with Cable. Something from different times, different worlds, different realms. Even if she could be contacted, Hope would be no font of information, nor even tactics. Bishop was too much of a soldier to deviate from function. No, all this meant that Monet had to talk to someone that was fluent in the local 'realm' but also from another time that may or may not be. To figure out how to make an approach towards the ever so irritable soldier.
So, Monet had given Rien an invite to talk in the Faculty Lounge, promised whiskey, and made a mention of 'politics'.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
Rien doesn't often get an invite into the mansion, but she's made it clear that she's around to help if people need or want it, so when she gets the invitation, she responds.

There's not much of an 'alert' to Rien's appearing. A bit of a liminal blue glow as she pops into the faculty lounge, but even that fades soon enough. "You rang?" There's a faint, brief smile as she tucks her hands into her pockets with a nod towards Monet. "So, admittedly, politics isn't my best subject, but I'll share what I can."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod over, "Well, yes, you're one of the few that.. Can grasp the situations." She would lean back over and then pass along the whiskey. From what she could tell it was Logan's favorite. Maybe it was something that was passeda long genetically. Who could tell with the Howletts? It certainly didn't seem to go that way with the Summerses.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
Shaking her head at the offered whiskey, Rien murmurs, "I don't drink that often, but thank you." Moving towards a chair, she gets herself settled and nods towards Monet, "Alright then. Read me into the situation and I'll see if I can be of assistance." She offers a quick smile, "And if not, I can usually find out."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would lean back, "Very well. Cable and others are currently facing an adversary that I'm reasonably sure is from his timeline, or something close to it. And they are currently working with.. Multiple others whom by what little I can tell from reactions, are from separate timelines." Standard stuff.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
"Ah, multi-dimensional politics. Well, that I *am* a little more versed in. Though I admit that I'm a little ruffled that the TVA never bothers HIM over his shenanigans. But. Water, bridge." Rien leans back and crosses her legs, arms folding loosely across her chest. "I'm assuming the overall goal is to send said adversary either back to his original point in time, or to have him removed from the timeline entirely?" Because that's not a strange sentence to utter.

She runs her tongue over her teeth, "These others that he's working with, are they... like me? From a timeline that's been closed and are here for good? Or are they here temporarily until they can return to their own?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would fold her hands together, "I don't know enough about them. They just came out of nowhere along with Stryfe on his latest attack." She amkes a telepathic image of the entities called Holocaust and Abyss, though no one knew them by those names yet or what they were. "By the reactions he gave, I presume Cable has a passing knowledge. I'm also assuming that he's going to give us very little on them beyond what we have to do to fight them, if he doesn't shut the rest of us out of it entirely. This seems personal for him." Not that she had a good read on Cable at all.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
"I see. Hmmm... this is definitely a conundrum."

Rien folds her hands together and steeples her forefingers together, tapping them lightly against her lips as she gives a nod, "Well, with a name like Holocaust, one can make certain assumptions. My kneejerk reaction to 'Abyss' is someone attempting to be scarier than they are. But I have yet to see them in action to make that call." Looking up at Monet, she smiles faintly, "That said, I'll see if I can't get myself invited along on the next 'mission'. I'll be able to get a better understanding of what's going on if I can see it for myself. Memmories are well and good, but they're not always the most reliable." She lifts a hand to forestall, "That's not a commentary against you or your powers, just that I can sometimes see things that telepathy cannot."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "Yes. However, I want to make sure that I have a way to approach.. Cable on this. He will not give useful iformation beyond tactics. I do /not/ like going into things blindly." She would fold her hands together. "And your assistance would be appreciated. At least one of them is an immensely powerful psychic entity held in some form of containment suit. Your claws might prove useful against it." She would tap at her chin.

"However, primarily I need a way to get Cable to be more.. Forthright. The others see him from the perspective of a superior officer or one that gets things done." In other words, Monet needed ideas on ways for how to make him /talk/.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
"Mmmmmm, that's a tall order. If you can't find a chink in his armor, some way to empathize with him, to find that common ground, he's not likely to open up to you," Rien lifts a small shrug and motions around the room, then to herself. "Nobody really knows what to make of me. Because I don't really talk about my past. Logan won't say anything, and I just... well. I don't *know* any of you. There are a few of you that I've seen here and there, and its.. it's like seeing ghosts." Shaking her head, she offers a wry smile, "And that's the rub about coming from a different timeline. People are different."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "Yes, he sees things from the perspective as a soldier. And from what I understand your existence is complicated." On top of her past! Hence that deal wtih the TVA that had been brought up offhand. "I can imagine. Ip rseumed if anyone had some perspective on the matter, it would be you." Her tone appreciative.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
"I appreciate the vote of confidence, but this isn't something you can just.. accomplish over a weekend. Cable has a mission. He's ON a mission. It's his entire life. You can't just break through that sort of armor in a few hours or over drinks." Rien lets out a small breath and gives a nod, "My existence is far more than complicated. But that's why you chose me. I can't give you an easy answer. You can't cozy up to a soldier from a broken future and say a few sweet words. But.. you might be able to reason with him. Remind him that if he's going to treat everyone like soldiers, then they have the right to know what war they're fighting in. Even if it's hard for him, it's deadly for others to be sent in with nothing more than a set of tactics and no way to improvise beyond that. They have to KNOW their enemy to fight it."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "I'm already caught up in matters and I'm not going to go into them without sufficient information." She would consider over and then smile. "And yes, you do have an excellent sense of intuition." Because the way that it was framed over in such a way that would fit within Cable's mental framework. "That is exactly what I was hopeful on receiving on perspective."

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
"If I can, I'll help. If you want me to try to talk to him, from one soldier to another, I can try that too. But it might work better after I've actually joined one of these conflicts before I start trying to tell the man what's what," Rien curves a faint smile and lifts a shrug. It doesn't really bother her either way, but it could easily be construed poorly to have some rando chick show up and start harrassing him for things she has no right to know.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod and sigh, "Of course. It's probably for the best. Also, I believe he would appreciate your.. Assistance in whatever this coming catastrophe is. And I'll owe you for it." She would tentatively offer up a smile. Monet was not a smiler type. But it wasn't forced.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
Chuckling, Rien gives a nod, "Well, I am my father's daughter, after all. I enjoy a good fight, too. So we'll see what happens when the next round comes around." She returns the smile, hers coming a bit more easily, though no less brief. "Now, I should probably get out of here so the actual faculty can use the lounge. We'll talk soon, and I'll make sure to get an invite to Cable's next party. You have yourself a good night." Pushing up to her feet, she waits to see if there's anything else Monet needs before teleporting herself to.. somewhere!
