Date of Scene: 05 June 2020
Location: Roof - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Kori and Kyani hang out with Caitlin atop the roof of Titan's Tower.
Cast of Characters: Caitlin Fairchild, Koriand'r, Kyani Kohanna

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin's little drone project is a lot like having a pet. It's coming together-- very, very slowly-- in fits and starts. Movement, pattern recognition, reflexes, instincts. In some respects, it's harder to teach the drone to chase a ball than it was to teach it to speak. Billions of bytes of data on human social mores; not quite as much established on how to trigger deliberate instinct reactions.

"Wait... wait..." Caitlin's in capri pants and a light blue-and-white hoodie, styled like a baseball tee and sized for someone of her stature. The drone looks like a cross between an insect and a dog; six legs, omnirotors, and a quirkily alert tilt of the head as she primes a windup for the frisbee in her hands. It's the size of a small housecat, painted all in silver, black, and flat tan.

"Go get it!" Caitlin whips the frisbee around the roof in a lazy arc, and the drone takes off in buzzing flight. She watches it go for a minute, then turns back to the little outdoor grill with steak sizzling on it. BBQ tines flip a steak and she holds one up to eye level, grimacing at it.

"This is the last time I buy the discount meat at the Stop-And-Shop," she tells the other Titans on the roof. "You try and save a few bucks with day-old meat, and the fat runs like molasses."

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire observes the meat from above. Directly above, floating over the grill bent at the waist, hands clasped behind her back keeping her hair from falling into the flame, not that flame bothers her hair much. "What is the optimal time between slaughter and preparation? Would it be preferable to purchase a live cow for killing?" she inquires as she peers intently through the haze of smoke at the meat below.

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
Kyani has just finished taking a shower after doing some more training, he's been at the Tower damn there every day training for at 6hrs every day. He walks over to where Caitlin is, "HOws your drone coming along?" he asks as he looks to her, he looks to the steaks and frowns a bit, "Hey it still should taste good right?" he asks. "IT's all in the seasoning." he chuckles. He looks up as he sees Starfire, he's not met her before, "Hello, I'm Kyani, and you are?" he asks as he holds his hand out to Starfire.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin's drone comes back around with the frisbee; she waits, baits it, and whips the disc off around the roof again. With a buzzing glee, the drone descends rapidly to chase the toy.

"Ideally?" she inquires, squinting up at Starfire. "Hmm. It's not so much the time as the preparation," she clarifies. "Fresh is better, but there are some recipes that call for carefully aging steak for a few weeks. Use salt and seasonings to keep it from going bad. I know some people who like it a little on the rancid side, but I'm not brave enough to waste good steak trying it."

She grins at Kyani in welcome as he comes up, and bobs her head at him with an encouraging nod as he walks up to greet Kori politely.

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire looks curiously at Caitlin, but lets the explanation stand as she turns--or drifts, more accurately--to face Kyani. She accepts his hand with a big smile and pumps it. "Hello, Kyani. I am Starfire." She returns to the grill, examining it. "If the flavor is all in the seasoning, then why consume this?"

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
He smiles to Caitlin, and he nods his head to Starfire after they shake her hand. "Just means it tastes good if done correctly is all." he says to her. "Nice to meet you Starfire." he says as he looks at the food as Caitlin cooks. "I'm pretty hungry and no I'm not going to try the whole rancid thing." he laughs.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Kori," Caitlin clarifies, gently, and wiggles the tines between the two of them. "Call her Kori. Kori, you call him Kyani, though he's going by Nitro while we're in costume." She looks up at the other redhead, then shrugs and flops her hands around. "Hey, I'm glad to be back here with everyone, but I'm not going back to the old 'Secret Identity Jar' system," she grouses at the Tamranean. "Everyone's gonna have to deal with using first names. Stupid Richard, with the dumb secret identity," she mutters. "I bought more pizza..."

She shakes off the sotto voce complaints and grins at the other two again. "Sorry. Steak! Regarding steak. It's the proteins and fats that humans need, Kori," Caitlin explains. "The seasoning's good, but it doesn't have much nutritional value. I can get by on roots and dirt if I have to, but the rest of us can't. I don't like using a lot of seasoning on steak though. I used to," she admits, "but honestly I'm starting to appreciate the flavour of a good cut of meat."

She slices into the corner of a tri-tip and makes a face. "This is starting to look like it's gonna be makings for steak sammiches instead of nice strip cuts, though."

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire looks at Caitlin, confused. "But my name is--" She cuts herself off and nods at Kyani. "Address me how she instructs you to."

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
Kyani listens to Caitlin, "I can see that we use our real names around one another when we are here or out in public just hanging out, but when it's time to go to work, our callsigns is better." he says to them. He is in agreement with Caitlin about the steaks, "I do like good seasoning on my food, I will have to cook for you all sometime. But she is right though Kori." he says to her.

Frowning a little, "What would you like to call you?" he asks. "I know it's good for us to use our real names when here, but I would rather call you what you want us to call you if that's cool?" he asks.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Sorry," Caitlin winces, and waves a hand. "Gosh. I'm still getting used to being back in the Tower, I guess. Old habits die hard. Ignore me," she apologizes, and whistles for her drone. There's silence for a few seconds, then it buzzes through the air and lands on top of the barbecue. Mandibles grip the frisbee; when Caitlin reaches, it growls and backs away, then buzzes up and around Starfire.

"Fine, no steak protein mash for you today," the redhead huffs at the drone. She eyes the steak, then sighs wearily and starts loading them onto plates. "Steak spread for the rest of us, though. Hope y'all like steak spread. Oh!" She snappoints at Starfire. "I'm doing a grocery run tomorrow. Can I pick up anything for you? Any special recipe requests?"

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire shakes her head mildly at Kyani. "I do not wish to impose," she answers, seemingly to him, though the reply is just as applicable to Caitlin's question. She ducks the drone as she wafts backward away from the grill, getting out of Caitlin's way so she can complete the Frisbee-retrieval mission.

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
"It's all good Caitlin." he says to her. "If you're one of our leaders and I've fought side by side with you enough now and look up to you in that role. So don't apologize." he says simply. "If Kori is cool with it, we will go with that." he turns and looks to Kori, "If you wish us to call you by Starfire, or Star for short let us know. I feel we all can be open about things with one another. We're all on the same team."

He bounces away, "I'm ready for my steak spread, I've worked up a damn appeitite and need the carbs." he grins at both Caitlin and Starfire. He gets a plate then pauses, "Uhh....whats a steak spread?" he asks.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"I don't think we really do leaders," Caitlin says with a wrinkle of her nose. "Donna and Richard, I guess, they're the leader-ly type. I just like to cook. Am I above weaponizing that? No," she acknowledges, and starts down the stairs towards the main room downstairs and the kitchen attached to it. "I do try, though. Also, I have played a *lot* of Warhammer Online, and I'm pretty good at real-time strategy games."

Once downstairs she starts tossing ingredients into a blender, including the diced steak, mayo, dill, and anything else requested! "I did pick up some coase-ground mustard, a little apple-cider vinegar-- I've been trying to think of fun recipes for you," Caitlin informs Kori. She looks to Kyani, and tilts her head at him. "How about you? Any special requests? Nothing's better for morale than home cooking, according to Wally. Then again, I once saw him eat a three-day old pizza, so..." She shrugs.

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire drifts into line behind Caitlin, Kyani, and possibly the drone as they head down the stairs to the kitchen. "I do not know what a steak spread is," she answers Kyani somewhat evasively, then apologizes to Caitlin, "I am sorry to put you through such effort."

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
Following down after Caitlin and hearing Star behind him, "I just like good home cooking, I will let you know what I like." he says to her. "I'm pretty easy but I will not eat a three day old pizza, unless there is nothing else left to eat." he says to her. He nods his head to Kori and as he is about to say something his cell rings. "Excuse me ladies." he says as he asnwers the call, "Really, now?" he asks and shakes his head, "Fine, whatever." he looks to Caitlin and Starfire, "Work calls, save me some food." he says and then he's gone in a yellow lightning blur!

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"See you, Kyani," Caitlin calls after the speedster. She grins at Kori's question, and runs the blender. What comes out has the consistency of tuna fish spread and she applies it liberally over thick, fluffly home-made bread. "Steak spread," she explains, and offers the plated sandwich to Kori. "It's a good way to use the spare bits up from steak, the stuff that isn't really good for plating. I don't like wasting food. Some mayo, salt, dill peppers, it's really good. Give it a try!" she offers the floating alien. "I think you'll like it. I mean, I hope you do," she amends.

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire drifts the ground, the glow of her hair, eyes, and skin dimming as she lands. She accepts the plate in one hand and hoists the sandwich mouthward with the other. "Thank you. It is excellent, truly," she praises after a swallow.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin beams a smile. "I'm glad you think so!" she tells the Princess. "I will add it to the list of Kori-approved foods." She digs out her phone and with a few taps, does .. exactly that. Detail-oriented, that's Caitlin's motto.

She whistles for her drone and when it comes near, it's fed a few slivers of shredded steak. "It can't actually digest it, but it enjoys the taste," Caitlin explains. "I'm still working out if there's a way to create a foraging nutrient system for an AI. But, baby steps, baby steps," she says, and coos at the drone before lifting it onto her shoulder.

"I'm afraid I need to get back to the salt mines," she tells the redhead, and offers Koriand'r a hug and a smile. "I've been slacking at work. I don't want Mr. Stark to fire me for goofing off on personal projects, I promised him some new concept work before the month is out. See you later?" she inquires, and shoulders a purse from the countertop.

Koriand'r has posed:
Starfire politely sets plate and sandwich aside on the counter to accept the offered hug. "Your work must be most important. I do not wish to intrude upon it," she apologizes, then steps back. "I will see to the cleaning of utensils, flatware, and surfaces." She collects a rag from the sink, soaps it, and begins cleaning crumbs from the counter.
