Synopsis: It is too early a Saturday morning, but some issues can't wait
Cast of Characters: Scott Summers, Betsy Braddock, Jean Grey

Scott Summers has posed:
It is terribly, terribly early. In fact it is still dark outside. But this is the time Scott wakes up, runs a few times around the school, gets a shower and then comes down to the kitchen to listen to the news while he has the first mug of coffee.

Yes, even the Saturdays.

It doesn't take long. He rarely gets any food now, waiting for a couple hours later, when more people is around. But today it is taking longer, because there are some real news going. No, not much about Genosha, few TV channels care about a tiny island at the other side of the world. No, they are talking about Tony Stark.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy's sleep schedule is not a regular thing yet. It could be somewhat expected, what with the body swapping and brain-washing, powers merging... it can take a toll on a lady. So she was up early, and had done some yoga to settle herself after nightmares left her off balance.

Purple hair is in a long braid, pulled back from her bare face. She's in a long sleeved loose tunic, over yoga pants. She'd left her shoes just inside the foyer, to not track snow in, so she's in fuzzy aqua socks that match her top and contrast the gray pants.

Violet eyes take in Scott, a glance at the window. "You have been to bed, yes?" She will ask as she moves towards one of the stoves, to pick up a kettle to fill with water. "Most people like to wait at least for sunlight before coffee." She says with a quiet smile.

Scott Summers has posed:
"Madness, no one should be deprived from coffee because the sun is late to get up," replies Scott deadpan, gesturing towards the coffee machine. Coffee is just done, the scent filling the large room.

"Good morning, Betsy," he adds politely. "I should get moving, but... they are talking about the presidential candidates. Particularly about Stark. To be honest I am not sure if he getting to the Oval Office will be a good thing or a complete disaster."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy Braddock will glance at the television, a faint shrug. She moves to fill a tea ball with her preferred looseleaf mixture. "Well, the man may be a raging egomaniac, but he's smart enough to know who to install in positions in his company to allow him the money to /be/ a raging egomaniac. He tends to put his money where his mouth is. It's more than can be said for most politicians."

She settles the tea ball into a mug, before she saunters over to peruse what's in the cupboards. "Have you had breakfast?"

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott shakes his head. "I usually eat later, when more people wake up," he sips from the mug and frowns at the TV. "He is a genius, but his ideas tend to be a mix of brilliant and terrible. There is little middle-ground and therefore as president... hrm, I am not sure," he admits. "At least he is not a racist and I doubt he will admit anti-mutant proposals from the other areas of the government. For that alone he might get my vote."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
There's a glance over a shoulder at him, before she's pulling things out of cupboards. "All right. Seems a shame to make pancakes just for me, though." There's a hint of a smirk, as she moves over to the fridge.

"That's most genius, isn't it? Good and bad? There has to be a balance, right?" She will shrug, moving to crack eggs into a bowl. "I haven't really looked into who is running much. I will when New York's primaries get closer."

Scott Summers has posed:
Pancakes she said? Maybe he could make an exception and have solid breakfast early. "True. I have not been paying attention either. All the human politicians seem the same. Then again he is no politician. Also, I bet Hank would be a great president. Not all geniuses are the same, hmm?"

His coffee is getting cold, so he finishes it and stands up. "Pancakes sounds too good to miss. I will help you."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
"I am sure all of them aren't the same. Is Stark not human? Did I miss something?" Betsy asks, as she's whisking ingredients together. "Hank would be good at most anything he wishes to do, I am sure." Betsy agrees, before she is moving to get a griddle pan out and hot. "Well, if you want bacon or sausage, you could get that out. "

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott mostly wants pancakes, but it goes against his nature to stand still when someone else is working. So bacon is going to be around soon, he goes rummaging through the cabinets for another pan and the components needed.

"Stark is not a politician," explains Scott. "Then again there is an argument that could be done about politicians not being real human beings."

Jean Grey has posed:
"Did someone say pancakes? I really //hope// someone said pancakes." That's coming from Jean, as she's standing in the doorway, leaning a bit tiredly against the frame. "Oh, and coffee. Lots of coffee." She staggers in a bit, wearing jeans and a Xavier Institute T-shirt. And fuzzy Woodstock slippers (the bird, for Peanuts fans out there).

The observant would note that she looks exhausted, but well... she did get back from her Genosha mission last night. So that's probably a big part of the reason.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy will lightly butter the griddle, shrugging. "I'm willing to at least hear the man out. He may have some really progressive platforms. He's a genius, after all. Who knows what he may think up?"

There's a glance over her shoulder, a smile for Jean from the teal tunic and gray yoga pant clad model. "We did indeed say pancakes. I think Scott has some coffee made, as well." Which reminds her to pour the heated water into her mug for her tea to steep. "Nice to see you made it back safely." Betsy will say with a light run of her eyes over the redhead's form, before she starts pouring batter in very precise motions.

Scott Summers has posed:
"Good morning, Jean," greets Scott. "I thought you would be sleeping until much later, to be honest. Debriefing is at eleven." Because of course, he had to mention work even in a Saturday morning with the sun still not up.

But even for Scott it was too late last night to demand the exhausted members of the Genosha team for a mission report. He would have a few years ago, but he has softened some at his old age of 25.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean sighs, "But //Scooooooooott//..." Okay, she does try to do the puppy eyes for Scott, but nods, "Okay, eleven. I spent most of the night with Lorna. We got her back but... she's in a bad way. Understandable, considering everything that happened." She flashes a brief smile of appreciation at Betsy, then adds, growing more serious, "Just... yeah, I think I might have fallen asleep on the chair in her room." Okay, so she's still waking up a bit.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy has started to focus on the pancakes, but her braid will move in a sinuous wave as she shakes her head. "At least let her get some coffee before you start talking about debrief, Scott. Where are your manners?" She will crisp up her British accent for the question, totally making a joke out of it.

A cupboard will open, and several plates will start to hover and move out, to settle on the counter without a single clatter. And really, the key to Betsy's perfect pancakes? No spatula sliding under them. Nope, they will rise and flip over neatly with the use of her TK. "What do you both like on your pancakes?"

Scott Summers has posed:
Ah, 'slept on a chair' would explain Jean's rumpled clothes. But Scott makes no comments, instead getting a mug of coffee for Jean, settling it on the table with the appropriate components and the hurrying back to the stove before the bacon gets extra crisp. "You could sleep four more hours," he offers. "If so, then coffee is a bad idea. Also, Tony Stark is running for the presidency. Perhaps also a very bad idea, we were talking about it."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean shrugs, "Tony Stark? You know, I really would hope for more than a vanity run from him." She makes a bit of a face, then sips the coffee. Mmm. Just as she likes it, then shakes her head a bit at the mention of more sleep.

"Nah, I don't think it'd work. But I'll probably sleep like the dead after that debriefing." She pauses, then grins, "Though, don't think this gets you off the hook, Scott. I remember what day it is, despite all the time zone changes." Because yes, she does remember a certain mutant //finally// asking her out.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
"We were just discussing if he may have more progressive platform than other candidates who lack his ... particular experience with non humans?" Betsy shrugs, before she's starting to pile pancakes on a plate. She looks over at Jean with a lift of an eyebrow. "Is there something special about today being a Saturday?" She asks, at least, wondering if she's forgotten something.

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott brief smiles hints he has not forgotten it either, despite all the unfortunate events during the week. At least they got Lorna out alive. Some good news among the horror of millions of dead.

He has yet to see what is left of the island. Not looking forwards to it, but he wants to be in the next trip there. "How are the others? Besides of sleeping, I mean."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean grins, "Well, I actually have a //date//, believe it or not." She tosses a wink at Scott as she sips the coffee. Though when the conversation turns back to the others, she grows serious again, "Kitty and Rachel were... pretty shook up from it. Truth be told, so was I. It's... just horrible. The pictures don't do what happened there justice. Seeing it, it's..." She shivers, setting the coffee down and closing her eyes briefly.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy lifts both of her immaculately tended eyebrows, a flicker of her gaze from Jean's face to Scott and back, a tiny tip of her head. One would think a psychic would just reach out and talk to the other one in the room, but apparently not Betsy today.

"So comfort food is a must. I can head to the shops and get some things, so there's a big lunch waiting after your debrief. Though I will have to stop and remind myself that what I find comforting may not suit American tastes."

Scott Summers has posed:
"Kitty has seen a lot, but she is still very young," comments Scott, looking concerned. Also trying not to think too much about Rachel. Because Rachel brings in a lot of weird, even for the usual weird of X-Men life. Also, very personal weird.

"A couple days of normalcy should help," he observes, looking up at Jean who is the expert in psychology. "Keep them busy, but not on matters that would force them to go over what they have seen."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean nods, "Yeah... definitely comfort food, Betsy. Here..." She pauses, and just psychically beams a quick list of favorites for people over to the other telepath. "That should do it, thanks Betsy." She gives the other woman a warm and appreciative smile, then looks back to Scott.

"I can't think of anything better than a few days of normalcy, especially for Lorna. With all that she's been through, that's probably the best thing for her right now." Jean hmms, "We did cut her hair last night, when she got back. She needed a change." Since well, that's a pretty common response to trauma.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
There's a faint stiffening of the Brit's shoulders, before she just nods at Jean's mental list of favorites, and starts mentally compiling a list. She's still pouring pancakes, but there's a plate arranged, fixed up the way Jean prefers them and it moves to hove in front of the redhead. "You should eat something."

Scott Summers has posed:
"Hmm, yes," murmurs Scott. "Lorna is particularly vulnerable," he adds, remembering the young woman tendency towards manic-depression, likely caused by her powers and not important psychological issues.

"I am sorry to heap more work on you, Jean, but I need you in the case, at least until the professor can take over," he decides. Because he is not good at it. "I need to focus in finding out the origin of those strange Sentinels."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean gives Betsy a warm grin, "Oh, that's perfect, thanks Betsy." She nods towards her, "And yeah, I probably should." Then she hmms at Scott's suggestion, "Well, Betsy, I know being a counselor isn't your expertise, but would you mind working with me on this? I mean, telepathy definitely helps, and we can pick up on things that others might miss." She pauses, then flickers a look to Scott, "Any leads on those Sentinels yet?"

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Violet eyes will regard Jean very seriously a moment. "Well, I don't have any degree in it or anything, but I don't mind helping. If anything, I understand trauma." There's a slightly bitter smile that finds a way to make fun of the purple haired Brit.

Then there is a clatter of a plate full of pancakes directly next to Scott. "You didn't tell me how you wanted them, so you'll have to garnish them yourself." She says cooly, before she's reaching over to take the tea ball out of her mug, and turn the griddle off. She has her own plate exactly how she likes them, and her mug of tea. She will pause to air kiss Jean's cheek in a very continental way. "I am going to go eat in the library, I think. Maybe get a fire in the hearth in there, and relax a bit." She says with a quick smile. "Just reach out if you need me, Jean?"

Scott Summers has posed:
Scott slides the plate forward, so it is between Jean and himself. "Pancakes can't be made wrong, Betsy. Thank you," he offers. Then he stands for a second mug of coffee. A smaller amount this time, but to keep company to the pancakes.

"I am going to try to catch people as they wake up, and definitely talk to Lorna as soon as possible. Good thing it is Saturday. I won't have time for classes." He will still make time for the date with Jean. It has been almost ten years wanting one for him.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean nods, and looks after Betsy, "Always, Betsy, I'm glad you're here." She smiles warmly at the violet-haired mutant, then glances over towards Scott, "Just let them get their coffee first, Scott. Especially on a Saturday." Her eyes crinkle a bit with amusement.
