Stomp the Foot
Date of Scene: 10 June 2020
Location: Hell's Kitchen
Synopsis: Donatello and Kainashi get sprung upon by the Foot -- who are chasing Kainashi for other reasons! Donatello gets to be heroic -- isn't that what everyone wants?
Cast of Characters: Kainashi, Donatello

Kainashi has posed:
IT WAS NOT A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT. iT WAS, IN FACT, A KIND OF OVERCAST EVENING, PROVIDING SOME RELEIF FROM THE CITY'S HEAT AS THE SUN MADE ITS WAY ACCROSS the city, drawing itself down and into the buildings as darkness falls across Hell's Kitchen, and who knows what's cooking.

There was an alleyway, full of dumpsters, settled in a bit of a side-lot where a bunch of restaurants and some older tech houses and pawn shops were located. Easy pickin's for some not-quite-out-of-date food and some -can-be-adapted hardware bits. There are six dumpsters in the alley, along with fire escapes for the apartments overhead. The roof is covered with tar paper and gravel, and the streets below are fough, hwen with cracked pavement and ages-old newspaper dropped from trash bins.

Donatello has posed:
A figure moves swiftly from rooftop to rooftop, easily vaulting over the gaps between buildings. The shadow falls into a predictable rhythm, not letting up as it navigates the jungle gym of exhaust pipes, water towers, and the other odds-and-ends that dot the city's skyline.

The figure comes to a stop, high above the six dumpsters, and crouches down next to the side of the tallest building. Coast seems clear, but one can never be too sure. The figure jumps back and forth across the alley, going from one fire escape to the next, going lower and lower at each leap. It eventually reaches the ground, landing with a vaguely moist thud, and stands tall with a bo staff held at one side. The figure approaches one of the dumpsters and opens it a touch.

    "All right!"

It's Donatello's voice and it sounds really pleased with the electronic surplus in the dumpster.

Kainashi has posed:
Exhaust pipes, water towers, and odds and ends can hardly stop in the way of someone trained in the art of ninjitsu. when Donatello touches down in the alleyway below, with that staff at his side, he opens the dumpsters and finds a bunch of 'recycled' motherboard parts in ATX and mini-ATX flavors, some processors and fans, and even a l ight-up computer case. Quite the haul! Every inch of it is useful, if not 'up to the minute'.

... and to the side, a dumpster gives a wiggle. It opens -- and something reaches to grab Donatello by the back of the shell!

Donatello has posed:
Large, three-fingered hands sift through the cornucopia of parts. Each one seems better than the last! He needs one of those! And that! Can't possibly leave without taking this one! Thing of what he could do with /that/! Donatello leans forward a touch, bending forward to get a better look. Until...

Donnie suddenly spins around, his bo staff held in two hands and pointed at...someone?

Kainashi has posed:
    Not someone.

She was in the next dumpster over, and she has the strength to lift Donatello up by grasping the back of his shell.

"Shh! Sh! IT's me!" comes a familiar voice, as she attempts to hold onto Tonatello's shell in spite of his turning, and instead manages to lose her grip. She gives a soft 'oh!' sound, and then the lid falls back on Kainashi.

    "Did they see you?"

Donatello has posed:
Donnie's sudden twist is made much more awkward once his feet lift the ground. What was going to be a sudden defensive move has become more of a flailing. His toes reach down to touch the ground but can't. "Hey!" He tries to get a look at the cause of this, but can't get a good view over the top of his shell. Donnie looks left, right, flailing helplessly.

But then, the voice. "Kai?!" But then...The dumpster's lid slams down and Donnie's feet find the ground. He spins around and finds...no one. Still, Donatello is the smart turtle and makes quick work of the situation. He reaches out and lifts the lid of Kainashi's dumpster. "No, they didn't see me..." He sounds so sure...but...

"Who?"

Kainashi has posed:
That's the moment when a kunai slices through the air, landing between Donnie and the dumpster.

And above them, there are six foot soldiers, clad in their black gi, the red and violet streamers of their bands playing in the wind, before one hops down, and peels back his mask. He's wide-shouldered, built out and muscular, and when he lands, he points at Donatello.

"Out of the way, turtle. We are after the dog. Traitor to our own master, lowest of the low."

Donatello has posed:
The sound of metal hitting the pavement draws Donnie's attention to the ground. His brow rises a touch and then curls into an unmistakable frown. He recognizes the insignia carved into the wide midpoint of the kunai. A brief glance is given to the direction the kunai must have came from. Five. Donatello quietly brings the lid of the dumpster down and turns to face the lone soldier on the ground. He makes six.

"Haven't seen a dog. Just some electronic surplus. But /I/ have dibs," Donatello declares, gripping his bo staff tightly. He positions himself between the foot soldier and the dumpster. Not being Raphael, Donnie lets his trash talk end there. He's well-trained, but there's no reason to take the first move against six members of the foot.

Kainashi has posed:
"Hm. Should have known one freak would defend the other." he states dryly, circling Donatello in a wide arc, out of the reach of his bo staff.

"The dog is in one of these dumpsters. We tracked her here. Blood, accross the rooftops." he states, and he holds up a dagger, its sharp edge ruby red. "She hasn't forgotten what steel tastes like, which is a /tribute/ to the other traitor who stole my tool from me, but I would have the freka back. She is property of the Foot."

Donatello has posed:
As the soldier moves, Donatello keeps his body facing him, his eyes locked on his. He doesn't swing the bo staff -- he's swung it many, many times and knows its length like the back of his shell.

Donatello's moment--two soldiers squaring off against each other--is ruined once the dagger is revealed. His tough expression is replaced with one of concern and fear. Relax, Donnie. Relax.

"You're trying to illicit an emotional reaction from me. To make me sloppy," Donatello taunts. "To make me make the first move against you. On your terms. How about you go kick rocks before you get hurt out here, tonight?"

Kainashi has posed:
"Yeah! Scram!" comes a voice from inside of the dumpster.

The five FOot still on the roof above look to one another, and the man below sounds surprised.

"She talks?!" he exclaims in shock, and he holds that dagger tighter, looking to Donatello.

"If you don't move out of the way, turtle, I will kill you, and take the creature back."

Donatello has posed:
Donatello winces, slightly, as the dumpster talks. No choice, now.

"Okay, dude," Donnie begins, taking a couple of steps from the dumpster and towards the soldier. "But, I warned you..."

Suddenly, Donatello drops a couple of feet and sweeps one of his legs across, in an attempt to bring the soldier down. His arms, however, do not lower. As the rest of his body drops, Donnie raises his arms to compensate and jabs at the dagger with his bo staff.

Kainashi has posed:
The attack comes, and the senior soldier is prepared for it.

He drops back, curling himself up as Donatello strikes out with his staff, and then grabs onto the fire escape above, swinging his foot out in order to swing himself up, leering at Donatello.

"You really think you can take us on? That little creature you're defending wasn't able to, not with all her power and the Fox behind her."

Donatello has posed:
Strike one. Donnie's whiff is handled gracefully. From the ground, he springs to his feet and resumes his readied, defensive stance.

"It looks like we're going to find out," Donnie calls out. "It looks pretty good, though. I mean, you're the dopes who let her get away, right?"

Donatello twirls his bo staff with one hand. His other fiddles with the material that forms a belt across his midsection. Two throwing stars are pinned between his fingers.

Kainashi has posed:
The whif is registered, and the older ninja gives a cruel smile.

"Why do you stand between us? The creature is Foot. It belongs to us."

There's movement in the dumpster from behind Donatello, and the lid opens, the amber eyes of the scarred canine peering out, looking to Donatello.

If he was the smart one, he'd book it. Six on one is hardly a fair fight.

Kainashi reaches down, grasping at a piece of rebar inside of the dumpster, her eyes narrowed.

Donatello has posed:
Donatello may be the smart one, but he's got other qualities that are currently taking over here.

"/She/ belongs to no one!" Donnie calls out, loud enough so the other five can hear it, too.

A sideways glance is given to the dumpster and the eyes that peer from inside it. His own eyes dart downward, to his hand and the two throwing stars pinned between his fingers, as if to say 'get ready!'

With that, Donatello suddenly flicks his wrist and sends the pair of shuriken soaring up and towards the group of Foot perched high above them!

Kainashi has posed:
And as Donatello slings the shuriken up towards the foot on the roof, Kainashi bursts from the dumpster, teeth bared, a two foot piece of steel repar in her hands, and when she brings that piece of metal about, there is a solid CLANG that shakes the other ninja off his perch in surprise.

The shuriken cause the group to scatter, two hopping across the alleyway and readying shuriken of their own, the three others drawing swords, and readying to go to the aid of their trainer.

The trainer himself gives a frustraited growl.

Donatello has posed:
As if the pair had rehearsed it, Donatello immediately moves forward and swings his heavy bo staff in an upward trajectory, in a hope to clobber the trainer with it before he hits the ground!

In the midst of it all, Donatello's eyes briefly flutter to the rooftops to see how his shuriken did. The turtle quickly turns around, just in time for two throwing stars, carved with the Foot insignia, to drive themselves into Donatello's armored shell.

"Man, I love being a turtle..."

Kainashi has posed:
Still, that's gotta hurt. Kainashi winces at the 'thuck!' of shuriken embedding in shell, and she gives a growl, turning her attention upwards.

"Ha! Don't worry, she's blind, she can't see us, just like in the training!" one crows -- until Kainashi rips off part of the wrought iron fire escape she was clinging to, and lobs it up and at them!

And then she takes off, up and at 'em -- leaving Donatello with the trainer below!

The trainer pulls out a kusari-gama, drawing the chain tight to catch the blow from the bo staff, and then swinging the sickle-end of it around to try and entangle Donnie's weapon and cut the turtle up all the same!

Donatello has posed:
There's a faint rattle as Donatello's bo becomes tied up in the chain from the kusarigama. The turtle grits his teeth and lunges forward to try and hold onto his weapon. But then...the sickle!

To avoid the blade, Donnie releases his grip from the bo staff and launches himself towards the dumpster, and then kicks off from it with one foot. Now unarmed, Donatello completes the motion by swinging his other foot in a roundhouse kick aimed for the trainer's face!

Kainashi has posed:
And the trainer tugs the chain back to himself, taking control of Donatlelo's weapon before he brings the bow up, using it to vault himself back before giving a happy looking face.

"You should consider joining the Foot. Can you imagine what can be done with your training with enough /funding/?" he gleefully attempts to tempt Donatello -- and that's when it starts Raining Men!

Hallelu-- no, wait, that's bad. A foot soldier bounces off the overhead fire escape, holding onto it weakly before crashing back down to the alleyway.

"HEY! It can see us now! It's not blind!"

Donatello has posed:
That's the second time Donatello's foot has only made contact with air! Clearly, this trainer is not one of the Foot's normal rank and file. He doesn't have time to think about it, though, because Kainashi's handiwork comes falling to the pavement, narrowly missing Donnie.

Donatello kicks the fallen soldier's nearby sword up and into a waiting three-fingered hand. It's not as natural as his bo staff, but Splinter did cross-train them in other weapons.

    "Thanks, Kai!"

Donnie brings the sword's handle up towards his face, pointing the tip of the blade at the trainer in a readied stance.

Kainashi has posed:
"Welcome!" Kainashi's voice rings out from above, followed by a very Wilheim-like scream.

The trainer narrows his eyes, and then throws Donatello's staff back at him.

"Well. It appears the Traitor trains well. FOOT!" he calls out, "VANISH!"

And in a purely aggressive mood, the entire alleyway fills with peppersmoke, irritating specifically towards the one with the sensitive nose!

But -- it looks like the Foot are making their way out now, and Donatello even has a sword!

Donatello has posed:
Donatello catches his staff with a triumphant swipe of his hand. He abandons the sword by tossing it into the dumpster and moves to swing it, but then... smoke!

Cough. Cough. "So this is what this feels like!" Donnie calls out, now fully appreciating how annoying those ninja-vanishes are when he's on the receiving end. "Kai, stay up there!"

Donatello waves a hand in front of his face and then leaps up to catch one of the fire escapes. He climbs the remainder and flops onto the roof top.

"You really saved our skins, Kai," he calls out.

Kainashi has posed:
Kai does not look comfortable. Her eyes are reddish and watery. She has snot coming out of her sensitive nose and she's coughing.

"UGh. Awful. So awful. I don't like that." she coughs, and then sneezes one big, wet, ear-flopping sneeze -- thankfully, away from Donatello! -- and leans back against an air conditioner.

"... yeah, well, you kept him busy. He's the tough one."

Donatello has posed:
Donatello faces his own discomfort, but clearly the senses of a turtle are not as sensitive as that of a canine! Donnie lets go of his staff and brings his fingers up to meet his eyes. Watery, but not too bad.

Donnie slumps against the roof's edge railing. "Yeah, he was a real pain in the shell," Donatello mutters. "Normally the Foot are a cakewalk." Donatello wipes his eyes and peers over at Kainashi. "Are you okay? Did they cut you?" he remembers, wondering aloud.

Fighting the burn in his eyes, Donatello begins to make his way over to the other ninja to tend to a possible stab wound.

Kainashi has posed:
"No. Once they knew I could see them they got a little more leery. Then I hit the other one with a big metal box." Kainashi coughs. "You got hurt, though. Your back! Are you gonna be okay? I ... I have gauze, but I don't think it's gonna be enough to wrap around your shell."

Donatello has posed:
Donatello relaxes. "Oh, good! I thought that bloody knife he had meant..." He doesn't bother finishing.

Instead, he props himself up to place his shell against the building's half-wall that surrounds the roof. He moves himself up and down and uses the wall's edge to pivot the shurikens so they fall out of his shell, leaving behind a pair of thin holes.

"Oh, it's okay. It's just my shell. It should be able to heal."

Kainashi has posed:
"... oh. Yeah. Uh." The canine pauses, and then lifts her arm. Her short fur was covered, the cut was shallow, thankfully, but long, and somewhat hidden once she pulls her sweatshirt back down.

"Still, I mean, it's a nice shell. And isn't your back connected to it? It's not like... I mean you can't take it off, like in the cartoons, not like the duck can take his bill off..." she trails a moment, and gives a soft 'hah' sound.

"You're a good friend, Donnie. The smart thing would have been to let them take me!"

Donatello has posed:
A smile forms on Donnie's face as he remembers the same cartoon. "No, I can't take it off, but it should be okay. I'll patch it up to protect it while it heals up," he promises.

But then, he becomes briefly troubled by the last thing Kai says. "Let them take you?" he wonders. "But then, you'd be gone." Truer words have never been spoken.

Kainashi has posed:
"But you wouldn't be hurt." Kainashi points out, and she frowns, and winces as she moves her arm, and gives a soft 'peh'.

"If I keep running into you and getting hurt, Alopex isn't going to let me hang out with you anymore."

Donatello has posed:
Donatello gestures a thumb to his shell. "This? This is nothing. I'll be fine." Donatello scootches forward a touch and leans in to look at the arm. "Are you sure you're okay?" he wonders.

But then, the threat. "This Alopex sounds like a good friend," he replies.

Kainashi has posed:
"I've had worse. It'll scar up, maybe." she states, and then gives a smile, her scarred face wrinkling. "Pitbulls are tough. We're also really, really stubborn. The guy on TV said so. We've also got like, really, really big hearts and meat heads! I'm not sure what a meat head is, but it's probably alright." she gives a wry smile, pulling her sleeve down a little more firmly.

"Alopex is... she's... she's more than a friend. I was supposed to be like her... but..." she gives a shrug. "She looks after me. She trains me. She rescued me. I... I train hard so I can protect her too. Sometimes she gets so sad, and I don't know how to help her. I can't fight her feelings, but I can take on anyone who would hurt her."

Donatello has posed:
"Meat head. Huh. I don't know what that is, either," Donatello admits, chuckling a little.

"That all sounds a lot like my family. We train to protect ourselves and each other," he replies. "That's what family is for. It sounds like Alopex is your's."

Donatello slowly rises to his feet, wincing slightly. "I think we better go, Kai. They might come back." He extends a three-fingered hand to help the canine up, if she wants.

Kainashi has posed:
"... n-no... the Foot was my family. They even said it. I was their pet. I'm not Alopex's pet." she states quietly, but she winces, allowing Donatello to help her up -- she is utterly too light to have been able to lift him off his feet by his shell earlier in the evening -- and she gives a smile.

"So... next time we meet, I don't wanna get hurt. Deal?" she grins at the purple turtle, in spite of her scarred up face and shoulders.

Donatello has posed:
"That's not what family is, Kai," Donatello explains, softly, as he helps her up. He pauses, struggling with how to explain what family is, but then stops. He's often told that he can be a know-it-all and this might just be one of those times. Even better, Donnie realizes it before going down that annoying path.

Dropping it, Donatello gives Kainashi a sideways glance. "It's not like I /want/ you to get hurt, you know..." Donatello explains with a grin. "Trouble just seems to find us."

Kainashi has posed:
And as the terrapin teen and the canine make their way out back over the city, in comfortable agreement that they are trouble magnets, eyes watch in quiet contemplation.

Four foot soldiers, and one trainer.

"... if it leads us to the fox, we will have revenge for those who fell." he states quietly, and then turns to the side. "And we will bring /honor/ to The Foot."
