Titans Training Time!
Date of Scene: 10 June 2020
Location: The Danger Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Titans Training Session
Cast of Characters: Heather Danielson, Kate Bishop, Samuel Morgan

Heather Danielson has posed:
Some people push themselves to the limit and beyond out of some desire to improve themselves faster than normally possible. Others push themselves because they feel that they have to. Some sense of duty or whatnot.
And then there is Heather Danielson. She finds herself in the training area, having been at it for a while... and she is covered in sweat, with a bag of burgers off to one side of the room and several empty water bottles.
She is currently performing one armed pull ups, alternating five with each arm off to one side of the room. Sure, she knows there is an upcoming training session scheduled. But she has currently lost track of time and is still working out when others arrive.

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate wanders into the Danger Room wearing her full kit and looks around at the .. well what could only be called a Gym or Obstacle course subroutine. "Well. This is an option. The gym is also good." she teases lightly as she walks ot the controls and looks. "Oh. They have it locked for Prospects."

She taps a few controls and adjusts a few things. "Heads up!" she calls helpfully.

Right before the pull up bar vanishes with a flash of light and the Danger Room is left empty.

There is some more tapping on touch panels and then a normal looking street in New York shimmers into being all around Heather. "Classic."

With that Kate vaults over the control divider and heads out to join Heather right as the ground starts to shake... sort of like in that old Dinosaur Park movie. Footsteps.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Some heroes are invulnerable. Some are stronger than the mind can readily conceive. Some are so fast that they can outrun the shockwave of an explosion, or catch a bullet in mid flight. There are those that can fly, those that can become invisible, or intangible. Quite frankly, some of it is nearly inconceivable.

Then there are mutants that can shape fire, or bend the forces of nature to their will. There are mutants that can alter the minds of others, or see beyond the sub-molecular into the very fabric of reality itself.

Sam is a mutant, but he's not one of those. He's also a hero, or at least trying to be, and he's none of the previous category either. Like a very small minority of other heroes, he carves out his niche through sheer skill. But all skills need practicing, and unless he keeps in shape to keep up with the super-powered crowd? Well, then he's just another teenager.

Although he's familiar with the principle of holographic technology, this is the first time he's seen an entire room dedicated to it, following Kate into the Danger Room. He's not in full outfit, mostly because his armor is still drying after the necessary re-spray, and so he enters the holographic street in his actual street clothes, looking around. "Okay, so are we expecting Kaiju?"

Heather Danielson has posed:
She was in the zone, and also... Heather had earbuds in, with music blazing away at her ears. SO she didn't hear Kate's warning. But when the pullup bar vanishes, she drops a couple feet to the ground, stumbling back a pace or two before she catches herself and whips her head about.
"Oh... is it time?" she asks as she reaches up and double taps one earbud to turn off her music. But she smiles... hair plastered to her face as she turns and reaches for a water bottle, "I'm sorry. I just like having time to myself for working out whenever I can. I didn't mean to infringe on -your- time."
And then she looks around, impressed at the layout, "Hey, mind if I join you? Lemme grab a burger and I'll be ready to g.... the fuck?!" she says as the ground starts shaking. "This an earthquake scenario, or something out of Jurassic Park?"

Kate Bishop has posed:
"I figured you were going to be joining us Knockout." she grins and draws an arrow from her quiver now. "I mean why use the danger room instead of the Gym if you didn't want some Danger." bright smile. About twenty percent sass.

"No cheating Sam." she notes also chipperly. She doesn't want him peaking or tweaking the scenario after all.

"So this is the second time in my life I was absolutely convinced that I was going to die." she notes glancing at the skyline. Dark storm clouds start to fill the sky above New York. They quickly are gathering to mar the blue sky even as the wind whips up and sleet starts to fall all around them.

Damned if the whole room doesn't get frosty surprisingly fast to keep up with the simulations environmental effects too.

The ground rocking just gets bigger as a school bus full of teenagers skids crashes into some cars nearby.

Kate puffs a visible breath. "Here we go..."

Which is when the Frost Giant steps around the corner into view, towering easily twenty seven foot, wearing armor with tusks that look to be from a wooly mamoath and weilding a giant sized great axe.

The Battle Of New York, two years ago.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Ah." It doesn't take too long for Sam to read the signs and extrapolate just what is likely to start happening. Exactly where he was three years ago, he doesn't seem willing to share, but he's not entirely surprised when the Frost Giant lumbers into view. Hmmm.

For a moment he pats his pockets, as if looking for something, and then shrugs, indicating without words that he's not equipped with any meaningful weapon. So, rather than engage the Giant head on, he starts to trot towards a police car that's parked nearby, currently still occupied by the simulated police officers that are, by now, probably wondering if this kind of nonsense is worth the pension plan. "How accurate is this simulation?"

Heather Danielson has posed:
While Sam isn't surprised by the giants, Heather -totally- is. She jumps back a few feet when the first giant lumbers into view. "OH shit! You were there?!" she asks Kate as her wide blue eyes turn towards the other young woman. "I was what, fourteen? Fifteen?" She shakes her head, "Just dreaming of modeling gigs and the like. This... this is terrifying." she says, her voice growing softer, not louder, lower, not higher. The adrenaline is flowing now, and she grins.
"Okay, let's do it!" She announces as she start moving forward towards them in her sweaty workout clothes.

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate just stands her ground for the moment as Sam heads to the police car, giving the Giant as it approaches a very critical look. "Surprisingly detailed and adaptive. The car should have everything an NYPD cruiser would have Techno." switching to the codename now, because well the shit is on right.

The two officers start to get out of the car, drawing their guns one of them uses his door as a makeshift shield and fires on the giant, causing it to look at the cop car, the bus, and the three heroes.

Meanwhile to Heather. "I was in the bus... Freshman.... fourteen. I was convinced that thing was going to kill the cops and all of us."

Hawkeye will trot after Heather as she starts to walk at the Giant, changing her mind and fishing another arrow out of her quiver swapping it out. "These things do hit like a truck Knockout. Don't underestimate them or how tough their skin is.... their big weakness it fire and Asgardians... so fight smart."

Heather Danielson has posed:
While she is not as strong as an Amazon, Heather is as strong as Spider-Man's average. But she isn't a superbly trained fighter, or superhumanly fast. What she has is creativity.
She nods to Kate without taking her eyes off the nearest giant, "Keep firing!" she calls to the cops. "Aim for the face!"
And then she charges in low as the bullets strike for the face and eyes and such. Soft tissues. Heather ducks under the swing of the Giant's weapon and aims for the Giant's ankle with a shoulder ram that breaks her collarbone for a second or two, but impacts with roughly nine tones of force...

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"I was hoping for that." Sam mentions as he casually opens the trunk of the car, utterly ignoring the police officers for now and reaching in for the shotgun. Most of those weapons are secured with electronic locks, and for some reason these just seem to open for him. But then there's a lot that's still unknown about Techno, and that mystery is unlikely to get less deep as he helps himself to a box of shells and starts to load the shotgun with one ounce slugs. "If I were you two, I'd be elsewhere for a while. Get those kids in that bus, get them safe. Just a suggestion."

There's no hurry as he walks back to the fight, the shotgun held with almost contemptuous familiarity. "I was thirteen at the time. Had a target across town, got here just in time to get stuck in this."

What follows is a shot to the Giant's face, a full ounce of solid lead aimed at the creature's eye. "You have no idea how many times I wanted to do this all over again, but this time I'm not the one doing the running."

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate well she continued to follow Heather, though honestly she let the metahuman take the charge to the Giant. Veering off to leap onto the trunk of a car and then step onto the roof as she takes careful aim. Usually she just snaps off shots, must be something about really wanting to nail this Giant that is more personal.

Sam indeed finds his loot.

The cops, well they are torn with firing at the face like Heather told them to do, or going to rescue the kids. The algorithm splits the difference. One of the cops calls to the other "Shoot for the face." repeating what Heather said "I've got the kids!" and then he turns to run to try to help the kids, who are having to use the emergency hatch in the roof, struggling with it because a box truck managed to jam itself into the rear door and the side door is stuck against the car the bus ran into.

Heather ducks the swipe of the axe, which sheers a lightpole clean in half. Thing about Frost Giants. They aren't actually that good at fighting. They are just... Big... Strong.. and Tough. Which Heather discovers when she slams herself full force into the Giant's ankle... definitely hurting herself.... but causing the Giant to stagger a bit off balance.

What doesn't happen though is the snap of bones in the Giant or an outright fall.

"Thank god she has a healing factor." Kate mutters to herself and right before she takes her shot, Sam does hitting the Giant in the eye with a shotgun slug. "Damnit." is the next mutter, but not a loud call. Instead Kate offers a "Good shot Techno!"

She adjusts and snaps off her shot, not savoring this one, right in the roaring Giants open mouth as the lifts a hand to paw at his damaged eye and goes down to one knee which to it's mind is better than falling off balanced.

Kate slides off the car and looks towards the corner the Giant came around.

Right as fire erupts from the Giant's mouth and nostrils explosively. It .. isn't down for the count though but it really lined up now for Knockout and Techno.... but...

Nonstop action.

Five dark elf warriors rush around the corner responding to the roar and gunfire. They skid to a stop i nthe sleet, a range of polearms and swords in their hands. In an Alien tongue translated as if by magic "This.. this is what defends this realm." and they laugh.

Heather Danielson has posed:
Rolling off after the impact against the giant's ankle, Heather is laughing aloud. She scrambles to her feet and rolls her shoulder as the bones knit and the torn flesh and tendons put themselves right.
But then she is on her feet before the elves. "Oh. Hi!" she announces. "You guys could really use a fashion consultant. Take those helmet, they are just terrible!" she says before one of the elves stabs forward with a polearm.
Heather catches the blade in her hand... blood oozing out around her grip as she twists and slams the haft into another of the elves.
Then the gross part. She lets go and makes a whipping gesture with her hand, launching a spray of blood at the face of the lead Elf before she steps forward and brings a foot up between the legs of that same lead Elf.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Not exactly a difficult target." Possibly not, and Sam seems very reluctant to take any credit for the shot, taking a quick glance around to assess the situation. Heather seemed to be doing fine, and Kate has things under control. Really, at this point he's not needed here, and instead he finally starts to move with purpose, towards the bus that had crashed. Situation is in hand, so it's time to evacuate the...

    Ah.

He comes to a stop when the dark elves come around the corner, doing a quick calculation. He has, by his count, one slug left and four baton rounds. Not enough for five of these things. As they square off and start to laugh, Techno rolls his shoulders and takes a deep breath.

"Hawkeye, Knockout... I've got these guys." Fast as a striking snake, he pulls into an explosive burst of speed, sprinting obliquely at the elves, firing his last slug on the go and then letting go of the shotgun. It's dead weight. He mounts the hood of a parked car, slides across the roof to make a smaller profile and lands with a roll close to the elves. The fight, it would appear, is absolutely on.

In the time it takes him to get there, Knockout has already made a start, and what follows is really just clean up. In a move that might look familiar if anyone has ever seen the Black Widow fight, Techno launches himself just as he gets to a third elf, finds the time to side-kick the fourth on the way up, and then grabs hold of the third elf's ears, spinning around the creature's head in a way that is very much not good for its neck. The momentum is used to yeet the by now probably very dead elf into the one that's still recovering from the kick, engaging its polearm. Knuckles crack, and Sam grins, facing off against what's left of that formerly cocky squad. "This is what invades our realm? Did they run out of serious soldiers?"

Kate Bishop has posed:
Hawkeye starts to open her mouth to ... well honestly to warn Knockout and Techno. Then well closes it as they just .. have already launched themselves at the Dark Ones. "Crap." she starts to run over at full speed drawing some arrows, very dulled nonreflective metal tips on them.

Heather gets a very good grab, cut on herself, then disarm and slam into one elf and a kick to the nuts on the other. All of those things definitely do stagger them nicely.

Techno well he staggers another with the slug to the face .. that one at least goes down for the moment.... and he is then in a scrum with all of the rest that Knockout isn't dishing it to.

Kate is very glad it seems Techno is really damn well trained.

Still she hasn't stopped running "These... things..also.. fight Asgardians." she notes and then skids to a halt in the sleet, she pops an arrow right in the throat of one of the elves.. it goes in way too easy based on the hits the other two have been delivering.... That first arrow is followed by three more rapid arrows, hitting the other one Knockout had in the eye. The last two into one of the ones that Techno is squaring off with. "Cold iron is their weakness."

Yeah she has studied this scenario a lot. "Hawkeye took out all of these ... saved all the kids and the cops..." she clears her throat now.

"Scenario suspend." and straightens putting her last arrow into the quiver.

"Good job... Donna is right we need to work on squad tactics more but you're both very capable."

I mean she isn't bragging but so is she, those shots with the arrows were ridiculous. Probably why Old Man Hawkeye dubbed her Hawkeye after all.

Heather Danielson has posed:
Having been in mid-follow through, Heather jumped, startled by the arrows sprouting from the necks of the elves. She actually takes three steps back and says, "Ew!" She shakes her head as the simulation ends. "Okay. So we're killing them then." she adds as she worries her lip with her teeth. "Not quite what I expected."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
The elves go down to a hail of arrow fire. It's ... not something Sam had ever seen before. Sure, he knew intellectually that Hawkeye was a damned fine shot, but... well, that was something special.

"Really gives you a sense of the challenge this was. Remind me to thank the Avengers next time we run into them." The simulation ends, and the teen's posture relaxes ever so slightly, as if a tightly wound spring inside of him has started to relax. "And I've come to realise that Donna is right about a lot of things." Which probably includes him being too much of a commando and not enough of a team player. Should have stuck with the Giant...

"Practice makes perfect, y'know? Let's do this again, sometime soon, so we can get to know each other's skills a bit better. Because something like this? It could happen again."

    Dun Dun Dunnnnn

He gives a cautious look over to Heather, hoping she can't tell just how easy it was for him to go lethal, and how much he's worried about what the rest of his team thinks about that. "Sometimes there's no choice. When the world is being invaded, when the invaders want to kill everyone they see... not much else you can do. Don't mean we have to like it, but we have to be ready to do it when it's necessary."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"This was a bit too real." remarks Heather. "At least I can't smell the blood." she says as she steps over and picks up her bag of burgers and a bottle of water. "I'm gonna need to go shower. Maybe throw up a little bit. Then I'll need more food."
That said, she shakes her head like a boxer who has taken one too many hits to the face. "Yeah. Simulation is so very realistic."

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate looks to Heather. "Sam is right, they were killing and maiming the citizens and .. most are too strong or tough for putty arrows or bolos..." she sighs and shrugs a bit. "When it comes down to my team or my life... I'll pick you all. Also innocent civilians. If it is a bank robber or an idiot d-list villain with a shocker suit... well I'll use the putty arrow and hand them over to the cops and courts to deal with."

She looks around the empty room. "Get showered and changed and we can go get fresh food in town, my treat." with that Kate heads to do the same.

Heather Danielson has posed:
Obviously -not- a killer or anyone with an instinct even approaching that... someone who hasn't spent years training to be a warrior... Heather was just a model who has a firefighter for a father who told her she should help others with her powers.
She looks back over her shoulder and offers an attempt at a smile. "Sure. Sounds good." She says, and then she slips out of the room to try to wash the death off of herself.
