Cast of Characters: Arthur Curry, Diana Prince

Arthur Curry has posed:
The alarms had gone off in the Hall of Justice. It had been years since a thing had happened, considering. Occasionally the security systems were set to passive while cleaning crews were given admittance and they handled much of the monthly upkeep, but then in the rest of the time the systems remain on. Recording. Monitoring. Quiet.
Until this evening when the perimeter alarm went off, then an entryway breach was recorded shortly after that. It was enough to send out a series of alerts to those on the notification list. A few quick texts fired off across the ether and likely a more prominent series of warnings to those with more elaborate apps.
But for Arthur Curry, his just flickered up after buzzing his phone as he stood there in the library of the Hall. And just as quickly as it arrived he swiped it away with a murmured, "No shit."
And that left him with his white greasy paper bag there in that upscale library in the rear of the Hall, the more residential area. It had pleased him to see that the power was still on when he wandered in, and that there was still some drinks left behind the bar. Suitable.
A decent enough place to stay until he got around to bothering with an apartment.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana still owns an apartment in Metropolis. It's where she lived, in fact, prior to becoming a public 'hero' in 2017. It's where she was when she saw the battle with Doomsday unfolding that lead to Superman's death, where she'd chosen to become a public hero and join the fight.

And it is where she is now, when the alarms come to her laptop as she's crossing the room in a silken bathrobe and laying out her clothing for the morning. Diana's eyes raise up to the alarm and she looks at it, a second later and she's looking across her bedroom to her things...

It doesn't take terribly long for the Princess to leave the skyrise apartment and make her way to the Hall of Justice across Downtown New Troy...

When she arrives, she stalks around the perimeter and uses her authorization to slip inside the building...

She knows who it is before she sees him, she can hear him, she can smell him, her advanced senses give her advantages sometimes, and he doesn't really seem to be trying to hide himself.

It's her voice he'll hear first, she speaks up from the library doorway. "You know, if you had come to the last security meeting in February, you would've been given the updated clearance codes." Diana's smoky hued words tell the Atlantean as she steps into the room now, dressed in her shining armor.

Arthur Curry has posed:
She likely doesn't just smell just the man himself, what with that mix of ocean brine and effort. But those greasy burgers as well since they're rather fragrant. Especially with one unwrapped and partially devoured by the man reclining in that over-stuffed chair with a snifter of brandy in his hand. The way he holds it he would almost look regal... if it wasn't for the way he was dressed and the wild bedraggled and braided beard upon his face.
"I was busy," He tells her, since there had been much taking up Arthur's time then. Though perhaps not now with how he is conducting himself.
But then he adds. "I lost my phone." A beat, "It was a burger emergency."
With that he sort of smirks sidelong at her, a rare actual half-smile on the man's features as he tells her, "Pick one." With that he waves her toward a seat nearby if she seems inclined and then settles back in the depths of that chair. And, to be fair, looking at him reclined a little, one hand holding the snifter, the other a half-eaten burger, one booted foot slightly further than the other. It's a mirror of the 'Gravitas of Rome' posture so often captured in their artistic depictions of famous historical figures, that it might actually lend him some hint of nobility.
And then he takes a big chomp of that burger. "Want one?" He says around the food.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana moves further into the room, thusly moving closer to the lounge area within the library that he's chosen to nestle himself down in to tonight. She listens to his response and then ends up across from him at a matching chair facing the table in between them. She remains standing though, over six feet in height in her armored wedge-heeled boots.

"I had a big dinner." Her voice softly replies to him, the corners of her mouth momentarily showing a measure of amusement at him and his offer. Diana then chooses to lower herself down and sit upon the arm of the chair. She doesn't have any weapons on her except for the rolled up lasso hanging on her right hip now dangling over the seat of said chair.

"You seem tired." Diana comments, observing him now. She's not one for bashfulness, she stares openly at him, and he probably knows that she's 'judging him' but in a way that is her style, as in... concern for his well being.

He'll also know that she's likely 'fishing' for a story as to why he's here right now, eating a Big Belly in the wee hours of the night.

Arthur Curry has posed:
"Yeah?" Arthur straightens up a little as he looks across the way at her, and she knows that look. The one that's given moments before he says something that might snap across the way with a verbal slap, that distancing mechanism that was there on the first days they met, and is always trotted out whenever the situation called for it.
So it might say something that he doesn't let it go and instead looks at his burger and gives it another thoughtful bite. He chews. And chews for a time, then brushes a forearm over his lips and takes a deep breath, "I feel tired." As if that admission cost him much.
Then those amber eyes shift back to her and he says, "Like old copper wires twisted too tight and wrapped around this... makeshift battery we used to keep the light on in the thunderstorm."
Just a glimpse to his past before he shakes his head.
"Made some decisions, things are going forward. Just trying to figure out if I made the right ones." He choose that moment to drink the last of the brandy like a barbarian and just tilts it back...
    Then reaches for the bottle.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's hands come together above her lap as she rests there on the arm of the leather chair. Her hands are wrapped in half-gloves that leave her fingers bare and those fingers interlace together to hold on to either of her hands. She jus stares across at him, her pointed chin angled down ever so slightly to watch him as he speaks, eats and drinks.

Her expression is calm, caring and attentive, but she does show a small smile again before she speaks. "Diet." She starts. "Can effect even our energy levels." She's teasing him of course, for not particularly eating a very healthy meal in this moment, though she knwos he's a healthy man overall. It is her duty to never let up on her teammates about taking care of themselves though, a duty she gave herself upon joining the team after Doomsday.

"It could... also be that you are not in a self-fulfilling place too." The Themysciran continues. "It is possible that you are not nurturing your mental wellbeing as much as it needs, and thusly you are feeling a little drained. Have you been doing anything for... yourself of late?" She then asks next of him.

Arthur Curry has posed:
A dull snort comes from him as he takes another bite of his burger, almost vindictively as he locks eyes with Diana and slowly /choooomps/ then chews with much relish in direct opposition to her statement. But he says around that bite, "Yeah." A few more chews, then he swallows. "S'why I don't ever go on one." A diet. Hah.
But then she has to go and make a serious observation, serious inquiry and a statement even that has him crinkling his nose as he looks away. One hand lifts as if to stave her from any further words or perhaps that sentiment, though he does address it.
"Things are settled with Atlantis. Or at the least in a place where I can trust there isn't going to be anything further that needs me to cause an issue. Detente."
The Atlantean looks back at her, "But, it now leaves me with time. Less purpose."

Diana Prince has posed:
As he tries to taunt her with his slow biting and chewing, Diana just tilts her head to the right, her voluminous hair falling around her shoulder and bicep as she does this. She just staaaaares at him and watches, not really concerned for his diet so much as she is amused at his behavior, but when he starts to speak on a more serious subject himself she glances down toward the table between them and then back up at him, her posture straightened again.

"We all desire purpose." She replies quickly. "Aaand, we desire the League to return to prominence. As Kal and I came to see you about. But things take time, channels take time to re-establish." A look is given across the room to the dark hallway outside the library, then she looks back to him. "The League will rise again, and then there will likely be plenty to do around here."

She shows a quick smile that comes and goes from her red hued lips. "In the mean time, if you are staying in the area, I could offer to set you up with a number of contacts around Metropolis or New York. All manner of volunteer work that might suit you. From public appearances - which I know are not your thing - to helping the people - which I believe is a little more up your alleyway."

"Why, I was just having dinner tonight with a lovely couple who are building new homes for those who lost theirs in the hurricanes of last fall. I was planning to go and help them rebuild." Diana shows a leveled gaze to the Ocean Man. "I would happily invite you to come along if you would like to ... hammer a few nails, maybe carry a few bags of 'quick drying cement' around?" She grins a little, in that uniquely playful way that is all her own.

Arthur Curry has posed:
The last bite is taken and then he balls up the wrapper, tossing it into the bag on the table along with the rest of the burgers left. He leaves them be beyond that, for now. Instead just looking across the way. "Well." He grabs the napkin off the table and dabs almost daintily at his lips before tossing that in there as well.
"I want it to go on the record I was here first." His lip twitches, "That when it came time to turn the lights on, air out the rugs, here I was rarin' to go while you all sort of sat around with your..." He stops, and for Diana he actually checks his langue. "With your hands in your lap."
A small smirk, but then he nods. "You need a hand with that, then sure. Before this whole Atlantis thing I had a shining career in construction ahead of me. Or lighthouse keeping. One or the other." Not exactly true, but perhaps not entirely false in some ways as well.

Diana Prince has posed:
The dark, elegantly shaped, eyebrows of the Princess raise up as she listens to the initial response from the gruff Atlantean, but when he chooses his words wisely with her she lowers them down again and shows another hint of a grin across the space between them. Her eyes glance to the bag of burgers and then back up to him.

"If you are staying here, I feel this room likely will need a fair amount of airing out come sun up." She chides him before stand stands up from the chair's arm rest. "I recall those parts of your life, Arthur, which is one reason I think you would enjoy helping with this little project. If you are sticking around here, then I will make sure to bring you with."

She steps toward him then and reaches into the back of her bracer before pulling out a small smart phone. She offers it to him. "Here." She says, now standing beside his chair. "This has the updated security codes on it, so you needn't be setting off any more alarms." And then after a short pause, Diana looks around the room and back down at him.

"You are not wrong though." She adds. "We do need to breath life back in to this place. It is far over due."

Arthur Curry has posed:
When she makes that comment about airing out the room he sort of gives her a look with one eye scrunched up as he murmurs a weak, 'ah-heh-heh-heh' as if she were so terribly terribly funny, and his enthusiasm was matching in her comedic talent. But that doesn't stop him from smirking a little at the end as she approaches and she offers that phone to him.
"Another tracking device?" Ever one to see the bright side of things, but that doesn't stop him. He accepts it, clicks it open, then pockets it in his jeans front pocket, right next to the chain he uses to hold his wallet in place.
But then he looks up at her and tilts his head, "Do we have a plan yet?" He pushes himself to his feet and rises, then steps around the side of the table to walk with her out if she is on her way to depart. "A schedule? What did the Bat say?" He asks as he reaches over and grabs his tan over-shirt and starts to pull it on.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana doesn't comment on the tracking device question. The short answer is 'yes' to that question, but the longer answer is 'we don't track our team unless we have to.' There are likely even longer answers too, but it doesn't matter right now!

At his follow-up questions, Diana turns then and she faces half-way toward the exit, and half way still toward him, her eyes remain on him. "The Batman is yet quiet, watching Kal and judging his capable-preparedness upon his return to the living, I am sure." She offers with regard to Bruce.

"There is no set schedule, with the return of Superman, the return of many of his enemies has seemingly begun as well. We have already had some rather major engagements, and I think more are on the near horizon. So the closer you are to ... here--" Diana's eyes glance around the library and the 'hall' it is apart of, then return to him. "The quicker you can jump into the League affairs as they arise."

Diana then shows him a soft and subtle smile. "Get some rest, Arthur. I will check in on you soon, maybe build some houses together, yes?" With that, the Princess will turn to slip back out into the darkened hall and the Metropolis night beyond it!
