Location: Batcave
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Jason Todd, Stephanie Brown

Jason Todd has posed:
If the Bat Family posted it's relationship statuses on Facebook, it's one with Jason would be listed as: it's complicated. He was neither fully a member of the team or an enemy, but at the same time he knew all their secrets and could, so-far, come and go from the Batcave as he wished.

Today was was one of those times he'd chosen to use that right, as much as he touted his independence there was no beating Bat-Family tech, and so Jason had appeared on a bit of a shopping trip, rooting through the Bat-gear for a few must haves a new grapple gun, a few of the exploding batarangs, some bat cuffs. Everything a budding vigilante needs to get his operation off the ground.

He's even brought one of those re-usable shopping bags for the trip, whistling as he picks through the family stores.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
The elevator descends from the mansion. The lift is itself completely silent, so Stephanie Brown supplies her own music. Just humming first. But before she's reached the Batcave:

Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, each one she passes
  Goes "a-a-a-h".

The door opens up with a faint shushing noise like a door opening in Star Trek. She walks out, wearing jeans and tennis shoes, and a white top with blue along the shoulders and sleeves.

She heads along the walkway and down some stairs, moving her hips in time to the song, feet doing a little dance step.

When she walks she's like a samba
When she walks, she's like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes
  Goes "a-a-a-h".

Stephanie does her little dancing walk over towards the training area, picking up her equipment belt and garter, which is when she finally notices Jason over at the equipment. "Half price on electro-batarangs," she calls over to him. "Through Monday." She flashes him a grin and then moves over to a spot with a target perfect for batarang practice. She attaches her utility belt and garter and then pulls out a batarang, taking her time and throwing it. It doesn't hit with the edge she was intending, bouncing off the target and resulting in a frown.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason doesn't need to look behind him; there's only one Bat who's going to be singing Girl from Ipanema. Or near Bat? His intel on where Spoiler stood with the family was hazy, hell when they 'met' he'd though Steph was just some girl with bad enough taste in men to date Tim Drake. It wasn't until he'd tried to kidnap her that he learned she had skills. The rest fell into place easy enough once he realized there was blonde hair tucked up under Spoiler's hood.

Now though, things were in that same strange detante that existed with the rest of the family. He didn't try to kill them and they didn't try to kick him out of the city. Even if there might be a few hard feelings.

"Heh," he says about the batarangs. "Hey, Blondie, what's shaking?" he asks pausing his shopping to watch her at the batarang range.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie side eyes Jason Todd briefly. The memories are always there, needing to be pushed down. "Just doing some training. Never could get my own to be aerodynamic enough so I'm not the most practiced with them," she says as the blond looks back down to the batarang. She runs a hand over it in a fond way, already coming to love the things even if she uses them sparingly while she works up her aptitude with them.

Stephanie throws another, using an overhand delivery, and then two more. Two of the three stick in the target, the edges of this particularly variety sharpened for penetration. The other bounces off as the rotation is off.

Stephanie adds a few of the batarangs to her belt, as if preparing to pull and throw them in one go. "So you just here shopping?" she asks. She's gotten the lowdown on him, as much from the Batcomputer as from asking others. She wasn't around more than socially until the last few months.

Jason Todd has posed:
It's plain enough he's not Steph's favourite person, but either Jason doesn't care, or wants it to look that way, as he tosses his bag over his shoulder and climbs up to the range. "Yeah, those things are a pain in the ass to make and to throw right," he says as he joins her. "The things he does to stay on brand," he grouses with a roll of his eyes. No question who 'he' was in this equation. "I mostly just use proper throwing stars," he explains reaching into his battered leather coat, producing one and setting it down on the railing next to Stephanie in an invitation to try it. "Easier to get to fly right, plus you can buy them in bulk online," he says. "The only downside is that they don't make them explode or spit smoke," hence his shopping trip.

"Yeah," he says of his trip up to the manor. "Heard he had a thing in the city today, some charity deal, figured it'd be a good time."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
The younger blond teen looks at the offered star, taking it in hand and feeling its weight. "It has a purpose, the brand, though," she says as she hefts it. Stephanie throws the star, sticking it in the pole more easily given it has more spots that will dig in.

A flurry of three more batarangs follows, pulled from the belt and thrown quickly. All three stick in the post this time. She turns back to Jason. "People fear him. People fear just the image. Batgirl earned her place, but still plays off that," she comments.

She loads up a few more batarangs then goes to retrieve the ones in the target, mainly to get Jason's star back and return it to him. "It pays off. Gets people nervous and they make mistakes. You know how many times I just get taken for a girl who is no real threat?" she comment as she turns back towards the target.

"Oh, wait, I suppose you do."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason produces a star and buries it into the target with a flick of his wrist. "Aww, that's cute Blondie, you think they fear us," he says before pulling out another star and planting it right next to the first. "Maybe the low level guys do, but the ones at the top, and the crazies like Scarecrow, Ivy and Joker, they either live under the threat of death everyday, or are too crazy to care, and the only way to stop those people is to do it permanently," he says with a shrug of his shoulder. Not that there had been more Red Hood killings since the summer and definitely none since Jason had been turned into a gorilla and been turned back.

"I'll give you the bit about getting nervous and making mistakes though, he is creepy, even if people are wise to how far he's willing to go."

There's a bit of a smile at that last though. "Well, in my defense, I thought you were a civilian who dated Tim Drake, so I figured your skills and taste in men were about on par," he says smugly. "Wrong about your skills at least, still can't figure why anyone would date Tim though."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
A batarang whirrs through the air and lands in the target with a solid THUNK sound. Stephanie turns to face Jason, eying him for a moment after the comment about permanently ending certain threats. She doesn't comment though, just looks speculative, until the topic moves on to Tim.

Stephanie gets another brace of batarangs. These carrying payloads though in this case they are just practice ones. Paint ball loads basically. "Tim went to great lengths to help me. More than most any other guy his age would do. You're way off with him," she says.

THUNK! Another batarang sticks in the post, spraying it with the water soluble paint. "Yeah, someone like Penguin may not fear him. But then again they don't dismiss him either," she says as if speaking from experience.

She stops and looks over at Jason. "So, what's up with you and... all of this?" she asks motioning towards the Batcave, going with the direct approach. "You're back. Sort of? OR are you back?" she asks.

Jason Todd has posed:
"Neat," Jason says of Tim being a big help to Steph in her time of need. "I'll call the Pope and get him started on his sainthood."

He frowns and cocks his head about the Penguin. "Fear who, Bruce or Timmy?" he asks, even as he picks up on the tone. "And do I sense a bit of jealousy there, in whomever not being dismissed?" he asks her.

As for her question, that shuts Jason up for the moment and he surveys the cave as if the answers were out among the shadows and stalactites, he frowns and turns back, "Sort of. At least until Bruce kicks me out properly."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Another batarang whirls through the air to hit the target, but this one clangs off, deploying its payload but not sticking as it was intended. "Been there, done that," Stephanie says after the comment about Bruce kicking Jason out properly. "Not as much fun as the pamphlet makes it sound."

Stephanie draws another batarang and whips it at the target, a little harder than the previous throws. It sinks in deeper than the others. Two more batarangs are thrown, but these trail out lines and wrap about the target, entangling it.

"Kind of like having your Gotham Grocery Warehouse card revoked," she says of one of the huge, club-based stores, and then waving towards Jason's bag with a wry look.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason's brows raise, "He kicked you out of his sidekick collection?" he asks, "C'mon there's got to be a story to tell there. C'mon, what are people saying now? Spill the tea?"

Jason turns to watch Stephanie then, clearly curious on what the deal was.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie sends another batarang flying through the air and into the post, letting any extra emotions fuel its flight. "Yes, it's been about a year since. Until Barbara took me on to train me just a couple of months ago," Stephanie says.

She shrugs her shoulders, pulling out a batarang and giving it scrutiny that has little to do with examining it. "Didn't think I should be doing this. Not much more to say than that," she says.

Stephanie suddenly whips the batarang in her hand, lodging it in the pole again before moving up the small range to the target and pulling them out. Unlike Bruce, Stephanie's emotions are rather easier to read.
