That Belongs in an Embassy!
Date of Scene: 19 June 2020
Location: Wakandan Embassy
Synopsis: Lara brings an old spear to Shuri and it is revealed that it is something from Wakanda from centuries prior.
Cast of Characters: Shuri, Lara Croft

Shuri has posed:
Shuri was told that someone was coming with an artifact that was lost to the people of Wakanda. They said it might be important for Shuri to take a look at it to verify if it had any vibranium in it. Further, they just wanted royalty to handle it. Shuri wasn't exactly happy to leave her work but that is the price of being royalty. So, waiting for Lara in the main hall of the emassy is Shuri, hands behind her back and doing her best to keep something of a smile on her face.

Lara Croft has posed:
As it so happens, it isn't just your average delivery person who arrives either. It's a SHIELD Agent, and if Shuri is properly informed by her people (which they're surely on top of it) it's a member of the British royal family no less. A Duchess. But she arrives without fanfare. She arrives outside in a black and silver Jeep Wrangler, brand new model. She steps out of it and is greeted outside by the Embassy representitives who help her come on in to the building.

Once inside, she lets her eyes roam around before she centers her gaze on Shuri and instantly recoganizes her. Lara is wearing a SHIELD light duty jacket, it's unzipped and beneath it she's wearing a dress shirt and slacks, looking formal but also casual. The Agent is holding a long black resin case at her side and when she approaches the Princess she offers a smile and a light bow of her head.

"It is a honor to meet you, I am Lara. Croft. I think I've come across something that your people would desire to have returned. I thought it best to bring it over in person." The Briton says in her calmly accented voice.

Shuri has posed:
"We welcome any return of lost artifacts of our people." She gives a slight nod of her own before looking at the bag with a little bit of eagerness. She didn't want to leave her work, no, but that bag was large and possibly had something particularly interesting in it. Maybe some lost piece of ancient tech that she might see. Who knows? Wakanda was rather advanced as a country to say the bare minimum and even their past had some advancements.

"I am glad that you brought it yourself. If you are the one that found it, I might have more questions." She nods her head and then gestures to someone, "Bring us some water and finger foods." She nods her head, "And none of that traditional stuff, just some sandwiches will be fine." She then looks back to Lara before saying, "I assume you know me, I am Shuri." She nods her head, "So, Lara, what is it you have for me?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara offers a small smile at the exchange between Shuri and her assistants at the food and drinks. She offers a nod and a soft word of thanks to those going to get said items. "I do know who you are, yes, I really am quite pleased to get to meet you in person, Princess." But when the topic turns straight to the item(s) in question, Lara nods softly and takes a step over to a table. "If I might--" She says then before she sets the resin case down and picks up a few item son the table to gently move them out of the way.

"I was recently on expedition in east Africa, near Kenya, when we were given word of a dig site that was under attack by a local militia. We went to offer support to those that were injured, and after having a number of conversations about what all had gone on... well."

Lara snaps open the case and lifts the lead. She reveals not only a long spear with shining silvery accents, but also a headdress and a large African style neck and shoulder-guard set.

"I am not an expert in your culture, but since your people have come out greater to the public, I've picked up on a number of similarities that have lead me to believe this is indeed, something from your country." Lara states then, letting Shuri have at the case and its contents.

Shuri has posed:
Looking at what is revealed, Shuri smiles a little and nods, "This does look similar to our work but I can't know for sure until I further examine it." She kneels down and reaches out lightly to put her hand near the spear and then she idly just touches one of the silvery parts lightly before hmming softly to herself. She slides her finger along it ever so slowly and then tilts her finger forward a little so her fingernail connects. She then lets it slide along it, turning her head slightly as if listening for something.

"This certainly has the feel..." She then nods softly, "I will not know for sure until I do actual testing but I'd say that this was made by our people but likely it is far older than it looks." She nods her head, "Our work has a lasting quality." She then grins up to Lara, "Wakanda has always been known for its amazing work with metals." She then stands up and nods to Lara, "I truly appreciate you returning this to us." She then gestures to one of the women nearby, "Bring this down to my lab and have it started under scan to verify."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara stands off to the side and clutches her right wrist with her left hand in front of her lap while the Princess gives her initial inspection to the artifacts within the case. She watches over what Shuri is doing though, out of curiosity out of the young woman's approach to it. She knows enough about Shuri to know that she's said to be a genius and a very scientific mind, which is exciting to get to see a glimpse of here and now.

When the Princess steps back and summarizes her thoughts, Lara shows a soft grin and a gentle nod. "Then I'm doubly glad I brought it back to you. I'd worried that you'd instantly tell it was not of the real variety, and send me away like I was ... well, a less than insightful person, let's say." Her grin holds a moment longer.

Lara waches the woman nearby move to gather up the case and usher it off to wherever the Princess deemed it to go. She then puts her eyes back on to Shuri. "I'm quite curious your thoughts on how such items could end up outside of your borders. Admittedly, again, I'm no expert on Wakandan history -- but I grew up... sort've absorbing as much as I could of every major world culture, especially the most mysterious of them. Your people's came up quite a lot, at least in the sense that myths and legends do. Vastly varying degrees of reliably information."

Shuri has posed:
"Oh no, you did quite well to spot this." She gestures to it as it is carried away, "It is something that has all the markers of Wakanda. I would say that it is highly likely that both the dress and the spear are possibly over five centuries old. I am not certain that the headdress is ours but the spear most certainly is." She then looks back to Lara with a smile, "As for how it got out?

"Well, like any society, not everyone was always happy with everything that happened within our borders. It is likely that one of our people, long ago, took up arms and left Wakanda in protest." She states, "It is possible more than one of these spears is near that area." She nods again, "Which brings me to needing precisely where you found it. I will want to have people search through that area quietly and see if any other of our artifacts was found in that area."

Lara Croft has posed:
A gentle nod is given to the Princess at her reply and when the topic of the potentialities of how the items left Wakanda is given, Lara shows a quick and small smile. "Yes, of course. The average person, who ran across such an item, might not even realize what they had on their hands as well. In fact, SHIELD wished to investigate the items themselves, prior to my bringing them here, but I didn't want that to happen. I was afraid that they might damage the items somehow, and well, I took the chance to come all the way over here - possibly wasting your time - to make sure that didn't happen. I'm glad that isn't the case though."

On the subject of where, Lara raises her hands up then and she unzips the side pocket on her SHIELD jacket, then dips her fingers inside the pocket to pull out a leather-bound journal. "I have the details of the location right here." She says then as she pulls the dark band holding the journal closed off, then opens it up to a specific page that she then turns and offers to Shuri. "I keep a hand written journal for every expedition I go on, this page details the day that I ran across these, including the names of those who helped me find it. Just outside of Kenya, near a small dried-up lake, in fact."

Shuri has posed:
A smile as she hears that and she nods to Lara, "Well, thank you, Lara for bringing this to me. I would have hated to find out that SHIELD was keeping any of our artifacts from us." She nods her head, "We have a great interest in making sure all lost items of Wakanda are eventually brought back to Wakanda." She then looks to the journal and nods with a smile, "That is a good idea. I keep a great many notes about my work and discoveries as well."

She then idly touches a bead on her wrist and then passes her hand over the page that is shown. There's something of a small glow from Shuri's hand as she does so and then Shuri pulls back her hand and nods, "Thank you, Lara. I have what I need." She then considers Lara a moment, "I would very much wish to speak to you again, Lara. Especially more about what you know of Wakanda." She nods and chuckles softly before turning her gaze back to the leaving case.

"For now." She looks back to Lara, "I think I wish to go oversee the scan of our returned artifacts." She then gives a small bow, "If you'll excuse me." She takes one of the sandwishes and a cup of water, "Feel free to stay for a little while and eat or take some to go." She then turns and starts away, "If you do return, I might show you something truly interesting." She chuckles over her shoulder and keeps going.
