Meet Boris, Tsar and Autocat of all Xavier's
Date of Scene: 07 July 2020
Location: Piotr's Room
Synopsis: Piotr and Jean have dinner, Jean meets Boris
Cast of Characters: Piotr Rasputin, Jean Grey

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Piotr had invited Jean over for dinner tonight, sadly a teacher's salary does not allow him to necessarily go out to fancy restaurants each night, but he at least is not the worst possible cook (though he has a couple of frozen pizzas in case of emergency).Piotr actually tried to dress up for this, polo and slacks.

Piotr has mostly gotten the room clean, the easels each have a half-finished painting on each, and there is a small pile of canvas balled in the corner where is seated a four month old striped kitten, observing his domain.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean arrives after the long commute... across the hall. I mean, really, it's not that far, and she has dressed up fairly nice for this. She has on a light green sundress, thin straps over her slightly pink shoulders as she did probably get a bit TOO much Sun the other day, sunscreen or no. Having taken care to make herself up nicely, she knocks on Piotr's door, her thought echoing in Piotr's head a moment later, << Hope I'm not too early? >>

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Piotr is getting and setting the pelmeni out on the table when the memo comes across, <<One second!>> Piotr says as he goes over to the door, his strides covering as much ground as quickly as possible to open the door. When he sees Jean he is able to let himself override his upbringing and flash a smile, "Come in! The food is ready, I think." Such confidence.

On the table is the pelmeni, a salad, and some bread sticks (he had no idea what else to throw into the mix with the dumplings and salad). A pie sits on a counter nearby. "Sorry it is nothing fancy. Oh!" The Russian notes as he walks over to the fridge, "Is there anything you'd like to drink?"

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean smiles, "Well, it looks positively lovely, Piotr, thank you." She says that to be polite, but also because it's true. "And well... what do you have to offer?" She could just check herself, but that's cheating, as she steps in and looks around the room. Not like she's really been in here to this point, anyway, so she's a bit curious.

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"Thank you," Piotr says warmly as he looks in the fridge, "Mountain Dew, some diet colas, a few beers, and water." His tone is a little embarrassed at this, the Russian was not prepared enough, he found what he missed.

Boris, however, is concerned about the new arrival and trots on over and says, "Brrt."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean smiles, "A diet cola would be fine, Piotr. Nothing to worry about there." She then perks up as Boris comes over, "Well, hello there... I haven't met you before." She crouches down, offering a hand for the cat to sniff, as well... one small effect of her telepathy is that animals tend to like her. A lot.

"What's your name, big guy? Oh, you are a cutie aren't you?"

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Piotr gets a bottle of dew for himself, a real bottle, not his usual two liter, and a bottle of diet cola for Jean, setting both on the table when he sees Boris and hears Jean's commentary, "Oh! That is Boris, the mighty destroyer of canvas," he gestures to the pile of it, "He tends to prefer that over his cat tree.

Boris is happy that Jean is here and sniffs her hand and definitely shows his approval by rubbing his head on her hand and being open to pets.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean laughs, "Boris, huh? You're a cutie, you know that... oh yes YOU ARE." She then scritches Boris, and then actually picks him up, the cat purring quite contentedly as he recognizes a human that sees his true brilliance and worth.

Jean then grins over at Piotr, "I never knew that you had a cat. Does he ever slip out, or is he just here in your room all the time?" She absently scritches the cat, who seems to have definitely taken to Jean. As most do.

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"Da, he apparently chose me when we were in town a couple of months ago, though he has certainly grown a bit since then," Piotr laughs, "But he has managed to behave on that front for a little bit, mostly because his food is here and I ensure that he is spoiled enough to not want to leave, despite his love for watching the birds and squirrels outside."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean smiles, "Well, I'm sure you could behave a bit if we let you out to see the other students. They would just /love/ you wouldn't they, yes they would." She scritches Boris some more, then gently sets him back down on the floor, watching him scamper over towards an empty chair and look curiously at the two humans.

Jean, for her part, gives Piotr a look, "Never figured you as a cat person, that's a delightful surprise." With that, she leans up and gives Piotr a kiss on the cheek, taking the diet cola from his hand.

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"To be fair, I was not. That changed when Boris climbed into my lap and demanded my ramen," Piotr laughs, "Then maybe I will get leash for him and take him outside some time. Fortunately he handled fireworks well enough, so maybe people will be all right for him..." Piotr's face goes bright red when Jean kisses his cheek, and busts into a grin, "Oh!" Not as surprised this time.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean laughs, "I've had cats since I was young... parents always had them, and I do tend to be the cat wrangler here in the Mansion. Though really I've let Rahne and Dani take over that duty since they're a bit better at it than I am." She smiles warmly at Piotr, "And you look very nice, by the way. I like that look for you."

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"Ah, that makes sense," Piotr says with a nod. "How many other cats are there in the mansion? No doubt Boris would like to meet them, I think?" He then gives Jean a nod, "And you are gorgeous, pretty as painting," he nods again, certain he got it right this time. Nope. "Also very happy you joined me for dinner."

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean smiles warmly, "You definitely got it right... and we have... hrm. Freyja, Ozymandias, Fiddlesticks, Tigger, and Ripley. I think there's a few others, but we always seem to be adopting new ones and the older ones retire from 'active duty' to live in other homes." She grins, "Freyja is my personal kitten, though, she's the most adorable tortoiseshell you've ever seen."

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"Well, I will be happy to meet Freyja some day, and I wager Boris will as well," Piotr says and nods, "Good to know they find homes, and I am sure you spoil your own." He looks over at Boris, currently behaving and mentally breathes a sigh of relief, though he finds himself lost for a moment when he looks back to Jean and then says, after a beat, "Oh, dinner!" and gestures at the food.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean nods, taking a seat across from Piotr at the table, "Yes, and it looks delightful." She grins, "I'm sure you would get along great with Freyja, she's a real sweetheart. Though she does like knocking things off of counters. Or tables. Or anything she can manage. But I don't think I'd have gotten my doctorate done without her help."

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Piotr takes his own seat and serves up a little bit of everything, "Oh, that is good, though I will be sure to not paint around her, just as I try not to paint around a certain 'assistant'," Boris does not at all look guilty. "But I believe that, having someone to talk to and be supportive about everything," his tone is warm, "Also I am sorry I forgot to get you gift for graduating, I promise to remedy this," he eats a little bit of the dumpligns as he thinks for a few moments.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean grins, "Oh, you didn't have to, I mean, it's been something I've been doing for a while... honestly, I wasn't sure I'd ever get it done but... well, now I'm a full psychiatrist and everything." She looks rather proud of that, as she has a little sampling of all the food, looking decidedly curious about Piotr's tastes for this.

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"You have worked hard for it and deserve something, we are all proud of you. I am proud of you!" Piotr continues pondering, "Da, I will think of something, maybe painting." He shrugs and takes a sip as he eats, realizing it is not the best work in the world, but at least it's edible? Piotr looks up, and can not help but smile a little bit.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean blushes a little at the mention that Piotr's proud of her, and she smiles warmly at him, "Oh, if you did a painting, that would be /delightful/. I'd be honored to have one." Her lips quirk a bit, "And it's rather good, Piotr, the meal I mean. You definitely have gotten better than the first time you arrived." She remembers some of those early meal adventures... it's definitely an improvement now.

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
"Very well, I shall arrange for one then," Piotr mentally makes a note of this, "And da, youtube and the internet have been helpful. Or at least instructions are." At least he won't have to break out the frozen pizzas. "I'll admit, not my greatest work and probably will never be chef," he laughs a little at this, "But da, it is better, but having you here makes the work worth it." Then he realizes what he said.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean smiles warmly, "Well, I'm definitely glad to be here Piotr. And I wouldn't mind spending a lot more time here, either." She arches one brow slightly towards him, "And I think this is fine. Though I can definitely show you some other things as far as cooking goes, if you wanted." A bit of a grin, at that, "Though I definitely rebelled against being the cook early on with the school. With being the only girl on the team and all that, I made Hank do it instead."

Piotr Rasputin has posed:
Piotr nods and says kindly, "I would be happy to spend more time with you," a beat, "And also the cooking lessons would be helpful." The story about the cooking duties gets a chuckle, "That is fair, though I am sure Hank was not horribly upset at this?" He smiles and continues eating, and enjoys the rest of the meal.
