A Quiet Place to play
Date of Scene: 16 July 2020
Location: Cherry Hill Fountain
Synopsis: A song is shared and a little bit of pessimism, too.
Cast of Characters: Siobhan Smythe, Negasonic

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Having picked a spot that seemed somewhat quiet, Siobhan has set up her battery powered little amp and plugged in. She has picked out a spot near the fountain on a small stone bench. She smiles as she checks the tuning of her guitar, listening to the strings and taking mere seconds to get the thing the way she likes it before she nods and idly starts strumming at the strings. Nothing particular for now, just listening to the sounds and how the interact with the open air. Her eyes closing for a moment before she opens them and nods softly to the sound and feel.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie has taken over an entire bench, lying down, her eyes half centered on the fountain itself and the crowd it draws. She wasn't looking at any one person in particular, until Siobhan made herself stand up by starting to fix up her equipment, in preparation for a basking session no doubt. She gave Siobhan a close look, trying to guesstimate the type of music she'd play, based on looks alone. "You're not actually going to play punk, are you? Won't be very good for tips..." she calls out without rising from the bench.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A smirk and she looks over at Ellie before shaking her head, "I don't really care about tips." She states simply enough and nods her head, "I just like ta play. If people want to toss a few dollars my way, so be it. I already got other gigs." She then considers the guitar a moment, "Mainly was just going to strum a few chords and enjoy myself away from my apartment where, well, most of my neighbors are annoyin' anyway." She chuckles.

Negasonic has posed:
"You don't? That's a new one..." Ellie smirks to herself, apparently amused by the thought of crude punk being played to drive away all the unsuspecting victims away from the fountain. Should be entertaining at the very least. With any luck, Siobhan might even be good, and Ellie could get a free show. "Wait...if you already at a level you get gigs, why play streets?" The explanation seems simple enough, as Ellie snorts, "people suck...just tell'em to shove it."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A grin and she looks at Ellie briefly before she idly starts strumming at the guitar and then she hmms before she strums faster and then looks up and while it is in an Irish Accent, it is pretty accurate to the music as she sings:

"When I was younger my mother said to me, 'You can grow up to be anythin' you wanna be'
Well, now dat I'm older I'm doing what I can
But everybody around me want me to be like dem
When people tell me that I gotta fall in line I say, 'You got get yours, I'll go get mine'"

She grins as she picks up the music and starts into the second verse.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie chuckles a bit at the sound of that song interposed with an Irish accent, but otherwise listens, though she more intently follows the reaction of people about. Seeing if they're drawn to the music, don't care or flee before it. Others of course just mind their own business, regardless. One of the most amazing things about America. "Not bad," she eventually states, giving Siobhan a thumb's up.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A grin up at Ellie as she continues the music and the song sorta takes on an angrier meaning with her Irish settled into it. She has a voice that seems to hit notes perfectly. As if she'd been singing her whole life without issues. She continues to play even as a few people give her a nasty look though a few smile and look over with a grin. One even looks around for a place to put a tip and then gets confused and keeps walking when there isn't a spot. In parts of the song, she changes the words a little but not much, just making sure she isn't calling herself a man but otherwise keeping everything else the same. Till finally she wraps up and looks to Ellie, "Tanks for de compliment." She nods, "Honestly, wasn't really planning on doing too many real songs, just strummin' away, really."

Negasonic has posed:
"You know...you don't have to change the lyrics," Ellie points out as she picks on the minor changes, "people should know you're singing a song, fuck'em if they don't." She nods as she turns her gaze upwards, lying flat on the bench now, "I get it...in parts. So how long you been doing this shit?"

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A bit of a laugh and she shrugs, "I do what I like." She smirks at Ellie and then she idly pats her guitar, "A while." She says softly and hmms, "I'd say almost ten years now." She nods her head and then shrugs to Ellie, "Since I was ten. My mother got me this and just wanted to see me play." She nods her head, "And well, I did." She shrugs and looks over at the people passing by briefly before saying, "Was a good ting for a while at least. Now I'm here." She laughs, "And I still enjoy just playin'. I'll play what people ask when I'm gettin' paid. I like to play what I want otherwise."

Negasonic has posed:
"So what kind of song do you most enjoy playing...?" Ellie asks, cleverly keeping the conversation settled solely on Siobhan and her instrument. "Any one song that really touches your soul when you hear it or play it...?"

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A smile and she pats her guitar, "I am fond of the Cranberries." She nods her head, "Probably one of my favorites to play but then I have a lot that I enjoy." She then considers, "Probably Zombie by the Cranberries is a fun one for me. Of course, I have lots of music I like to hear. There's a difference between hearing it and playing it. For me playing it is Zombie. For hearing it I like a lot of punk and electronic music." She shrugs her shoulders. SHe looks at Ellie and hmms, "What about you? Got any favorites?"

Negasonic has posed:
"I heard them before, girl got an interesting voice," Ellie remarks, "that is a fun song. So, now that you named it, why...?" Ellie wonders, turning her head from the skies to look directly at Siobhan, "must be more than just saying zombies in your head sounds cool..." she takes a deep breath at the question, mulling it over, she likely has a selection in mind. "Bury A Friend, Billie Eilish, has to be it..."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A smirk, "Because of its meanin'." She nods her head, "I mean, don't get me wrong. It sounds cool but it is also a song about people bein' used for war and it really being just death." She nods her head and shrugs, "All the same, dat's a good choice for yourself. Surprised really, most like Bad Guy by her more than any other."

Negasonic has posed:
"That's on point," Ellie says to Siobhan as she explains the song, and then smirks, "how would you know if it's a good choice for me? You don't really know me," but having been a wiseass, she then follows up with, "Bad Guy is a good song, but it's not me. Bury A Friend is me...sadly."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A roll of her eyes and she shakes her head, "Well, got ya." She laughs a little and then nods her head, "We all have our songs. Yours might even change before long." She shrugs, "Who knows. I just know what I like now. Who knows what I'll like tomorrow?" She grins and nods her head even as she idly strums at her guitar, "I just like to play and listen. Though, I have been considerin' what else I might like." She nods her head, "Not real sure to be honest."

Negasonic has posed:
"Mine isn't going to change for a while," Ellie remarks with full seriousness, "there's a whole bunch of people who have to die before it can change..." was it some edge lord teen stuff she was muttering? Or something more sincere? Tough to say from a random meeting in the park. She does look relatively calm though.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A smirk and she hmms, "Well, hopefully only people who deserve it will den." She chuckles and nods her head, "Hate for a bunch of decent gals and fellas to die all so you can get a new song." She chuckles and nods her head.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie remains eeriely quiet following Siobhan's comment, leaving it up in the air as to whether she heard her at all or not. But she does turn to look back into the sky, before murmuring, "it's okay for decent gals and fellas to die if they're mutants..."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A blink at that last comment and she tilts her head, "And why would ya say a ting like dat? Sounds..." She shrugs, "Well, sounds pretty terrible if ya ask me." She nods her head and looks over at Ellie with a tlit of her head, "I tink everyone has a right to life. At least till they use up dat right. Dat's a choice." She nods her head, "Not somethin' you're born with."

Negasonic has posed:
"It is, isn't it?" Ellie muses as Siobhan suggests it's a terrible thing. "And yet it is. A thing." She then gets up and stretches, "I think I should go for a walk, clear my mind, thanks for the song..." she doesn't introduce herself before walking away.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A shake of her head and the woman just watches Ellie start off before letting out a soft sigh and she looks back down and starts to play again.
