The Ice Palace: 'Friendly' Creatures
Date of Scene: 16 July 2020
Location: Ice Palace
Synopsis: An innocent butterfly terrorizes bystanders near the ice palace.
Cast of Characters: Nessa Donovan, Rogue, Ben Reilly, Wallace Wolf, Siobhan Smythe

Nessa Donovan has posed:
It's been over two weeks that the massive ice palace has stood in the Bronx. No one's really been able to explain where it came from, and even those of a magical persuasion haven't quite been able to figure out how this absolute volcano of magic power just showed up. People taking pictures for social media have been wandering in and out of the massive structure, though the buzz is a little less than it's been. People are fascinated, but it's there... and it hasn't melted.

Outside, the New York City heat is its usual for summer: hot and uncomfortable. A girl of probably around age eleven sits behind a stand made on the back of a red wagon that reads 'Lemonade $1, ice free' while her dad hovers protectively nearby while splitting his attention between his daughter and his phone. It is, after all, not the /best/ neighborhood. But people are making the most of it, as a few mill about nearby. All's well, as it seems.

Rogue has posed:
Leather whipping in the wind, brown and white locks waving over top of it! The air is hot, but at least when you're flying at tremendous speeds, you can stay cool! ish.

Rogue is sweeping through the skies coming in from the north from upstate New York. She'd seen pictures on social media of this ice palace in the middle of summer, and she wanted to snap her own pictures of it before it melted, or ... whatever was bound to happen to it. Had it been Bobby Drake? Seems unlikely, even he didn't usually make this kind of public display.

The belle is wearing her brown elather jacket, with the X's on the shoulders, a green tanktop beneath it, blue jeans and leather boots. She sweeps in super fast and tries to land behind some nearby trees without making a show of it... she doesn't like to fly in public unless she has to.

A moment after landing, she just walks casually out from behind the trees, hands in her pockets... she pauses the lemonade stand to buy a cup and offer a few dollars to the little girl, along with a smile.

Ben Reilly has posed:
You know where is a great great place for an overheated spider to be hanging out? And maaaaaybe taking a nap? An ice palace. In the middle of the Bronx. Stopping crime is hard work, especially in the heat. So afternoon hits and Scarlet Spider has been taking a quick nap on top of one o fthe towers attached to the elaborate structure. Of course that's before something buzzes the palace at high speeds and startles him awake. "Who? What? Huh?" Ben sits up quickly and jerks his masked head around trying to get his bearings. But he finds no immediate threat. He grumbles a little bit as he sits up more fully and scoots over to the edge of the tower to peek down from above towards the people below, a bright red head poking out from on top of the tower. "Ooooh. Lemonade. Oh. Mask. Shoot."

Wallace Wolf has posed:
That jet black bike decorated with a gloss white Jolly Roger isn't quite famous in New York (yet), nor the guy in skeletal leathers sitting atop it. So when he swings his bike up onto the sidewalk and brings it to an easy stop, yeah not likely to be getting the cops called on him just yet. Casually he rises, stuffing gloved hands in his jacket pockets and elbowing his messenger bag back into position. Theres a glance up and down the street, for errant 5-0 of course.

Then he drops down into the street, before turning his gaze to the Ice Palace. He'd come to NYC because it had so much strange shit going down, and well he could hardly complain now that it seems to be delivering. "God in heaven, ain't that a sight."

Nessa Donovan has posed:
The little girl is /more/ than happy to hand Rogue over her lemonade (she's got a lovely blend of sweet and tart) and she stuffs the money into a pastel purple piggy bank while beaming charmingly back at Rogue. Her father glances up briefly, a half-smile at his daughter's capitalistic venture before he looks back at his phone. That is, until he's noticed the bike. Suddenly, the phone's not so interesting and he wanders a bit closer to investigate. Near the lemonade stand, a pretty blue butterfly floats along, seeking out flowers that are undoubtedly far from here.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue exchanges money for lemonade, and with a gloved left hand she raises the cup up to sip from it. "Mmm, delightfully refreshin'. Thank ya, sugah." She says with a big grin for the girl stuffing the money into the little pretty piggy bank.

As Rogue turns around, she looks to the father on his phone, then follows his gaze to the bike. But. Ultimately. She starts to step on toward the ice structure, her eyes going up to look up and walk a bit more to the south so that the sun will hide behind it and not BLIND her. She catches a glimpse of 'something' up there, but she's not sure what it was.

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben Reilly sees the bike pull up too, and his head tilts at a curious angle as he starts to climb down the side of the ice castle, clinging to it like the spider he takes after, climbing a little further moment by moment. Skull and crossbones? Those are bad guy symbols right? So he moves into position to be able to drop down and help should something develop on the street below. Becoming a lot more visible, bright red suit against the ice. Hey the blue hoodie helps right? Camoflage? Maybe? A little lower though not too much, no need to intrude on people's day if nothing is going to happen. Crossbones is a bad guy right? He's heard that somewhere. This guy certainly has a crossbones on his bike. Scarlet sinks down into the classic spider stance, one hand planted on the ice between his legs, the other loose at his side, ready to sling web.

Wallace Wolf has posed:
The Colorful peacock graphics sportbikes usually have, is also a terribly valuable identifier to figure out what year a given bike is. The triangular boxed swingarm suggests a CBR600RR between 2005-2008, but the tank is the larger F4 one. The fairings front to year are stripped down of those tell tale honda mirrors, and painted in a satiny black with that blackened skull only serves to complicate figuring out just what sort've CBR the bike even is. Mono-posto like an RR, triple trees like an F4, Ohlins like neither in the rear. A practiced eye of course might note the race clocks tucked under the blacked out fairing, and the slight pale yellow on the skull's otherwise bright white.

Not that Bones is terribly worried of course, most people can't tell sportbikes apart without their factory colors to begin with. So he offers the curious dad a little lift of the chin, before turning his gaze back towards the ice. The very picture of relaxed, shoulders slumped and hands still in his pockets. Not your typical aggressive body language you'd expect from a super famous villian, right?

Nessa Donovan has posed:
While her dad's distracted by that sweet sweet bike, his little girl is distracted by nature. The butterfly lands on the top of her sign and she gleefully watches it, making no sudden moves to scare it off. Slowly, however, she reaches up to try and get the bug to scoot over onto her finger. It takes a little bit of effort, but she gets it. She steps back, holding the butterfly up so she can get a better look at it.

And then she screams.

From the tip of her finger where the butterfly landed a sheet of ice forms, crystalizing around her hand and part of her wrist before the butterfly flutters up into the air again as if nothing had happened. The butterfly, however, is much easier to see now--was it larger? It's hard to tell.

Poking her head out of the inside of the ice palace, Nessa looks around rapidly to try and find the source of the screaming. "What the hell is going on out here?" Her gloved hands rest on the doorframe, confusion on her features.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Headphones in place, Siobhan was not really paying attention to the rest of the world. She was listening to some of her favorite music as she walks along when suddenly something caught her eye. No, not the ice palace. She'd seen that before. She was more surprised when she saw a child screaming and crying and then some butterfly flying away and was it getting bigger.

"What de hell?!" She pulls her ear buds out and slides them away as she watches, "What even is happening now?" She watches the thing and then notes Nessa and the others and well, she's confused.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue had started walking a bit to the south, and hadn't even ever noticed the butterfly fluttering around anyway. But when the scream happens, she looks right back over to the girl to see the ... is that ice on her hand?

The southern girl with the two-toned hair had been taking her phone out of her jacket pocket to get it ready for snapping photos of the ice building, but now? She stuffs the phone back into her pocket and starts to jog a few steps back toward the girl and her lemonade stands...

... but she stops when she sees the rather large blue butterfly. That doesn't look normal for one of them. She used to chase butterflies around when she was that girl's age, they never got /that/ big.

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben cants his head to the side again as he watches mister potential bad guy just kind of meandering about. Lack of violence does not mean lack of ability or willingness to cause violence though, so Scarlet Spider keeps an eye on him, at least one, though he's also watching the rest of the crowd. Until the lure of the lemonade is just a bit too much and he lets his supernatural grip slip so he can slide down the side of the building. Though that slide becomes a leap away from the wall to land in a crouch nearby when the little girl screams. His eyes go first to mister skull and crossbones guy, then swing around to people around her. "What happened miss?" He asks it as his eyes track the butterfly. Can't have that landing on someone's head or something, so he leaps after it to try and capture it if he can. Hopefully without hurting it. Could be an accident. Magic butterfly that makes things turn into ice or something. "Someone call an ambulance!" He calls out to the bystanders as he chases after the butterfly. "Also does anyone have a net?" Because if he webs the poor thing it's never getting unstuck.

Wallace Wolf has posed:
A screaming girl does indeed get Bones attention, helmet snapping around to zero in on the little girl. He starts at a slow walk, before picking up a step. "What the hell just happened, did anyone see what happened?"And well the little girl has Bones full attention it seems. Skidding to a stop and immediately taking a knee.

"Woah woah darlin, just hang on alright?"He has the presence of mind to pop open his messenger bag for his first aid kit before pausing, and plucking free a pair of boot warmers instead. Stripping the plastic free and rubbing the little cloth bags in his hands to try and kickstart the process.

Nessa Donovan has posed:
The girl's arm isn't totally encased in ice, but there's a layer of it over her hand and wrist in jagged chunks, like rock candy. It's hard to tell if it's hurting her, mostly because she's in too much of a panic, not enturely sure what to do with her hand being unable to move. "Oh god am I dying?" This, of course, said because there is no level between being okay and death. Her dad, in the meanwhile, has rusted back over, resting a hand on her shoulder as some attempt to comfort her as he lets the people who seem like they know what they're doing have at it.

The butterfly, it seems, looks and flies like a butterfly would, fluttering about. Except there's something following in the air behind it as it moves. Dust? Glitter? Magic? Hard to tell without being close.

Nessa doesn't notice the butterfly immediately, but she does notice the girl's arm. "... that wasn't me." She says, half-defensively before she looks over to Siobhan. "... did you see what happened?" She glances behind her at the palace for a moment.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A call out to Nessa and Siobhan says, "Butterfly." She points at it and then shrugs, "What happened with it? I don't know. Just I know dat is what happened." She shrugs, "Got on da girl's hand and now..." She shrugs even as she watches the Butterfly and the sparkles or whatever coming off of it. She looks at the others as if seeking answers before looking back to the butterfly, "What do we do about that thing? A big fly swatter?" She asks and tilts her head.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is between the lemonade stand, those gathering around it to check on the little girl, and the blue butterfly. The 'glitter' trailing around behind the insect is glinting brightly in the sunlight in a most unusual way too. Rogue's eyes look from the large insect to those at the table, then back to it.

She starts to walk toward it and her gloved hands go up to her jacket, whipping the leather garment off her shoulders. "Come on now." She says. "I don't know what you are, but you're definitely a suspect in all'a this now..."

When the fluttering little sucker starts to get up high, Rogue suddenly lifts up off of the ground, her booted toes aiming down toward the ground as she raises up... and tries to get her jacket up over the butterly like a makeshift net!

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben Reilly looks back over his shoulder. "Bug. Girl. Ice. Dunno." He calls out before focusing back on the task at hand, running along and then jumping into the air, a hand reaching out to send a webline up and let him swing forwards to catch up to the bug. Ben isn't sure what else to do about the butterfly. Can't have it landing on people and hurting them so... Scarlet thwips ahead of the butterfly and sweeps a hand at it as gently as he can, a hand with some webbing on it to snag the butterfly and hopefully hold it fast without hurting it, and hopefully without hurting a Scarlet Spider. Scarlet is... not paying attention to the others, his focus is on catching the bug without hurting it, so there's a definite chance of collision with both him and Rogue going after it.

Wallace Wolf has posed:
"See and this is why I don't like butterflies."Or so Bones offers, finally stepping away from the little girl as more gather around. It's probably not too safe for any of them to be quite so near if things get rowdy afterall. Instead he pivots, withdrawing an extendable baton from under his jacket and moving after Rogue. Not as if he plans on beating the thing to death, it just may end up being handy to have a poking tool yaknow?

Nessa Donovan has posed:
The butterfly hovers near Rogue, unaware perhaps, of the fact that it's being chased. As the jacket swings, it clips the butterfly's wing and it jaggedly flies in the air, the 'dust' expelling from it in a poof of sparkles with a very visible cloud. It's hard to tell if it's injured, but... it looks bigger.

Nessa's attention drifts from the little girl to the butterfly, before she beelines towards the butterfly. "I don't think we should get too close, we don't know what it does," she points out, especially when she sees the 'cloud' of dust.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Staring for a long moment, Siobhan shakes her head even as she moves closer to the 'action' as it were and she looks to Nessa, "What do you know about dis? Isn't ice creatures your area of expertise or somethin'?" She asks even as she looks up to what Rogue is doing and then at the Spider-Person before she glances to the bone and crossbones guy and then she sucks in a breath, "Honestly, this whole city gets weirder by the day."

Rogue has posed:
Needless to say, Rogue didn't come here to deal wit4h magic... she's not a magically inclined combatant by any means. She doesn't know /anything/ about magic that didn't come out of Harry Potter film, and she's never even seen those films - she's just absorbed people who have.

Her first attempt only manages to clip a wing of the Butterfly, causing it to flutter more haphazardly. But she keeps at it, herself, floating up into the air like Tinkerbelle, holding her jacket out.

"Uh..." She pulls her jacket back toward her body, gloved hands clutching the garment by its shoulders. "I think this thing is gettin' bigger!" She calls down to the others. "It's sheddin' stuff too, that I don't think anyone should get underneath'a!"

Wallace Wolf has posed:
"Great magical butterflies, I'll have to add that to my resume."Pausing as Bones swings round the outside "You want to grab some water and throw at it, because I'm terribly afraid I don't have any bugspray on me."And a pause "Or a flamethrower, unfortunately. He does at least offer Rogue that baton, in case she wants to poke at the thing rather than grab on.

Nessa Donovan has posed:
"Don't look at me. I can't make them yet and even if I could, they certainly don't have /abilities/." Nessa's attention is fixed on the butterfly even if she's paying attention to Siobhan. "I also can make ice, I can't destroy it. So... I'm not entirely sure what to do here. I don't think it can hurt me, though..." That being said, she approaches in the direction of the butterfly.

The butterfly, it seems, is a little alarmed by the attempts to catch it, and starts to flutter a little more erratically, more of the dust expelled as it moves. Unfortunately, the path takes it a little closer to the the bystanders. The dust, as it falls to the ground, looks like frost.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Moving quickly, Siobhan sees what is happening and calls, "Hey, folks, lets not be here when that stuff falls." She gestures, "We might want ta move or else we might turn into ice." She nods and encourages people to get away from the strange butterfly even as she calls out to Nessa, "Can you grab it then or something?"

Rogue has posed:
Landing on the ground again, Rogue glances over to Wallace and stares right at his eyes for a second or two before her own eyes go down to the offered baton. She takes one hand off of her jacket and takes hold of the baton then. "Thanks." She says softly before she starts to walk after the butterfly. "No water or fire, we'd probably just end up makin' all'a this even worse." A glance is given in the direction of the lemonade girl who went from having a great summer day to ... whatever this is now.

With the Baton in hand, Rogue tries to trail after it, avoiding the 'frost' and yet still trying to get a good enough angle to smack the thing with the baton and just 'end it' before it hurts someone else!

"I don't want t'catch it anymore. I wanna just kill it. Let the science types examine whats left!" Rogue says to the voice calling out for its capture.

Wallace Wolf has posed:
"I reckon so darlin, time for peace has passed I reckon. You try and keep it back, I'll snag us a back up plan alright?"And with that, the Baton is passed quite literally. Bones is off, dashing across the street towards the nearest business. Everyone ought to have a fire extinguisher handy as per the fire code, right?

Nessa Donovan has posed:
Tugging on the cuff of her gloves, Nessa blinks a few times. "Uh, okay, so I can get close, so if anyone has a good idea of what I can /do/, I can do it." She looks over at the others, then back at the butterfly.

The butterfly, though, doesn't appear to have a reason for the growth... or it's been slowly expanding over time. More like the size of a balled fist. Which, of course, makes it enough of a baseball size for Rogue to try batoning it. While it doesn't get a hit in, what it's doing seems to be making it more erratic--it's not flying /towards/ anyone. While the fire extinguisher can't be found over by the ice palace, another nearby warehouse does have an old one, dusty with disuse.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
After shooing people away from the incoming butterfly, Siobhan looks back at the thing and then at the others before she glances to Nessa, "Uh, grab it? Smash it? Squash it? I don't know. If you can get close, just slap it down or something." She gives a shrug before looking to the thing and then back at Rogue before saying, "You can fly. Are you strong, too? Can you squash it?" She chuckles, "I don't mean much harm upon things but if it is like other ice things, than it isn't real."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is grinning, distractedly, as she goes after the butterfly with the baton from Wallace. "I 'reckon' I'm gonna smash the ever livin' daylights outta this thing, if the sonava bi--" She mutters. "Would just hold /still/ for a second!" She's continuing to do just that. "Pickin' on little girls with lemonade stands huh? Ya lil' blue devil... COME HERE!"

Baton whack!

Baton whack!

Baton whack!!!

"If I can't crusha butterfly, then I may as well just retire, and I ain't even had a job for more than a month yet." The Belle continues to mutter while whapping away at the fluttering ice monster bloating butterfly!

Wallace Wolf has posed:
Extinguisher acquired, Bones stuffs a folded fifty into the Extinguisher's mount before dashing back. "Hey darlin, try this! See if you can't get it from above, if you don't kill it outright that'll force it onto the ground yeah? I can take it from there if need be, righto?"Bones gives a huff, before hefting the thing overhead as he trails behind. Trying to make it as easy for Rogue to snag and enguage the thing as he can.

Nessa Donovan has posed:
"We need..." Nessa's looking around for something useful, but she's drawing a blank. "A net? Something larger... unless /it/ gets larger." Which is a good point, as it is. It seems to be growing on its own, the dust trailing after it and sprinkling all over the ground, leaving more than frost, but more patches of ice, wet and slippery.

Another clipping of the wing and Rogue's got a good hit in... which is great until it grows exponentially at that point. Baseball becomes bowling ball. And the wings? They seem to have a bit of an icy chill wind of their own. The danger rises.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A blink as she looks at that action causing it to get bigger and then she stares for a long moment. She looks over at Nessa before frowning and shaking her head, "This is very strange and I'm not sure the path we should take." She states before she looks to the man with the fire extinguisher and then she looks around, "I don't know if we can just cover it up. I feel like melting it might be best but who knows?" She starts looking around for something like a blanket or the like.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is pulling back the baton after the Butterfly grows larger once she hit the wing. "What on Earth even is this thing..." She mutters, before her eyes go to the fire extinguisher being haded to her. She accepts it and turns it around in her hands as she drops the baton on the ground.

"Dousin' it in this will..." She exhales and shakes her head. "Who knows what the hell it'll do." With a swipe of her left hand across her face to sweep her white bangs out of her eyes, the Belle walks forward, then lunges up into the air and gets above the butterfly-bowling-ball, a moment later and then Fire Extinguisher is pointed down at it, to spraw it from above! "Stop. FLYING!" Rogue shouts, ironically while flying.

Wallace Wolf has posed:
"Give'it hell!" he offers, before turning back to scoop up that baton and get some distance. Helmed visor swinging towards Siobhan "Well I'm not exactly the expert on magical ice butterflies, so if this doesn't do it I'm not gonna lie. I think it's gonna be time to just start blastin and hope for the best,"Theres a little shrug there as he gets himself into position. Messenger bag opened, so he can stow that baton and withdraw a tiny little carbine.

Nessa Donovan has posed:
Nessa glances over towards Siobhan. "I'm open to any ideas. This thing is... I don't think it's trying to hurt anything. It's certainly going to do some damage if we just let it go, though. Do we kill it or trap it or find some way to change it to something else?"

The battle of butterfly versus belle is a heated one... or not, as the case may be. The extinguisher spray, which may have been useful on a normal bug, does seem to move the butterfly due to air pressure... but it seems to do little to really hinder it. In fact, as the spray draws close to the butterfly, it flutters its wings and the combination of the spray and the dust suddenly wooshes out around it like some kind of fog rolling in.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just douses the damn bug in fire extinguisher until she realizes it's not really doing anything either, so pausing in mid air she lets her shoulders slump and then just... throws the extinguisher at the bug. "Fire it is then."

One of her hands go into her jeans pocket, and the other into her leather jacket's inner pocket. She sweeps out of the sky and lands near to where the bug is trying to fly behind a street lamp, then pulls out a cigarette lighter and a small bottle of travel hairspray.

"Everyone stay back!" Rogue shouts to the general audience who've no doubt been recording this with their phones.

The lighter is raised with the hairspray and, well, she creates a spout of fire to shoot at the butterfly!

Wallace Wolf has posed:
Bones pops the stock on that carbine out, and jacks a magazine in before slowly working his way around oncemore. Not only to keep an eye on the action of course, more importantly to free up his background in case good old fashioned American problem solving is required. "If it falls I'm hitting it, without giving it a chance to get back up fair warn!"

Nessa Donovan has posed:
The collection of people who are hanging around to film with their phones is certainly growing, though they are at least heeding Rogue's warning to stay back out of the way. No one's being dumb enough to get too close--that's what the zoom is for! The little girl seems better, the ice cracking off like a shell once enough pressure was put onto it. Her arm, treated for the chill, is wrapped up.

As for the butterfly? Fire is certainly doing the trick. Like a piece of plastic exposed to heat, it crinkles, bits of the wing curling up as water turns into a small tuft of steam. With one wing, the whole thing can't stay afloat, and rapidly falls towards the ground, ice dust touching down around it.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue continues to light it up!

PUFF OF FIRE!

PUFF OF FIRE!

PUFF OF FIRE!PUFF OF FIRE!PUFF OF FIRE!

Finally, when the ice butterfly starts to lower down to the ground, the Belle runs over to it and lowers the hairspray can, as well as her lighter and just grins. She exhales heavily and smiles over at everyone else who's watching.

"See? Not so tough, huh?" She asks in her southern flavored voice. "Don't say I didn't try the diplomatic route, neither." She smiles for all the cameras then.

Wallace Wolf has posed:
With Rogue taking care of things, and the attention squarely on her? Bones pops that stock shut, shoves it back in his messenger bag and gets moving. He slips past the bystanders, behind the chorus of hoisted cellphones and makes good on his retreat.

He glances around one last time to make sure the fuzz hasn't descended down around his ears, before throwing a leg over his bike and firing it up. From there he idles it back down onto the street, and heads off at a mostly legal velocity.

Nessa Donovan has posed:
The queen of firespray, Rogue is doing a number on the butterfly. As the remnants of it hit the ground, it frosts over, but all that's really left is a small mound of wet slushy snow and ice. Who knows what damage it could have done if it had gotten bigger? Saved by the hairspray.

Nessa's attention moves from the butterfly battle to the escaping bike and back before she chuckles lightly. "You ever consider being a 'hairstylist' superhero? Pretty sure social media would be all over that. The hairspray and fire is a neat trick and I never want to be anywhere near it again. No offense."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue notes the quick gettaway of the man who'd given her the baton and fire extinguisher. "So much for askin' for a name." She mutters at that before her eyes then go to Nessa who's approach to comment at her. With a grin and a glance down to the butterfly... or what's left of it... Rogue just smirks and shakes her head. She looks back up then. "I got much bigger things that that ahead'a me. Plus, I'm full'a surprises. Some'a which shouldn't involve me gettin' anywhere close t'people's heads with my hands." Whatever that eludes to.

Rogue then looks back toward the lemonade stand and the girl, or at least where she last SAW her. "Hope she's okay. Someone's gonna need t'explain this t'the cops, but it can't be me, I'm gonna have'ta scoot."

The Belle adjusts her leather jacket, glancing up to the ice tower for a second before back to Nessa. "Somethin' strange is goin' on here, hope they figure it out..."

With a wave of a green gloved hand toward some of the phone cameras still recording, Rogue walks a few steps then takes to flight, shooting up into the sky!

Nessa Donovan has posed:
"Boy, don't I know that feeling," Nessa mutters, mostly to herself as she looks at her hands before she watches Rogue on her exit. There's a bit of a shake of her head. "Yeah... I hope 'they' figure it out." She takes a glance back to the ice palace, eyeing it carefully. "Why do I have a feeling you're more trouble than I expected you to be?" She glances around at those still milling about, then shrugs and heads into the intricately carved icy doorway. Someone will fill the police in. Someone always does.
