A Ghostly Canary
Date of Scene: 22 July 2020
Location: Chinatown - Founder's Island
Synopsis: Dinah Lance and Robbie Reyes meet. It goes -very- well.
Cast of Characters: Robbie Reyes, Dinah Lance

Robbie Reyes has posed:
In the Chinatown district of Gotham City (because every major city has a 'Chinatown' section, obviously), Robbie Reyes was driving around in the currently untransformed Hellcharger. Eventually, he pulled up along the curb outside of a Hot Dumpling Restaurant, though rather than go in and get some food? He pulls out a carton of cigarettes, though narrows his eyes when he notices there's exactly two left.

"Damn, getting low. Good going Robbie, next time -don't- use the cigarette to put out a demon's eye." he says to nobody in particular, but most certainly a mumble of the hardest-of-hearing sort.

He's dressed in his classic black and white jacket with tight gray pants and simple running shoes. he's leaning against his car, sending a quick text before shoving his phone away.

Is he waiting for something? Or does he just find this side of town to be relaxing?

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah's out for a night on the town. Or at least, she appears to be, now that Black Canary had -her- night on the town. Though the gang members she busted and 'politely questioned' about the latest underground drug sweeping Gotham's club scene might want to dispute her definition of 'night on the town'. Of course, a broken jaw might make filing such grievances a little more difficult, unless it's done in writing. All in all, Dinah's had a good night, although her brisk pace isn't just because of the slight chill coming to the air. She hears angry voices a couple blocks back, and as she passes an alleyway, more coming from there.

Jeeze, apparently the gang's taking that beatdown -personally-. She must be getting rusty. She doesn't remember the costumed hench sort taking things to heart so much. So she picks up the pace, which of course means her footfalls sound louder, which means the voices start getting closer.

But then she spots salvation, or at least a muscle car and a friendly face. Or at least a face that as far as she knows doesn't want to clock her. And sometimes? Sometimes that's about as friendly as Dinah can get. Gotham right?"

And so those clecks of heels on pavement pick up and zero in, heading towards Robbie, arm lifting, waving brazenly as she calls out, "Hey stranger! Need a light?"

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Honestly, if a gang can't accept they had their asses beat by a woman, they should probably just stop. Take a loss and go back for the W, right? All the same, Robbie is digging for his lighter after he hooks his cigarette in the corner of his mouth when suddenly Dinah comes strolling right along right up to him. His attention shifted to her in a very curious sort of way.

Because, well, she's a bombshell. What does a woman like THAT want to do with what basically equates to 'street trash' like him?

Yes, Robbie has a low opinion of himself, but he is somehow not lacking in confidence. All the same, he smirks a bit and nods. "Sure, be rude of me to turn down a generous offer like that, chica." he even offers her his last cigarette in the box if she feels like lighting one off with him.

"Name's Robbie. Robbie Reyes." he introduces himself.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah flashes a grin, her swift pace slowing, stopping, hips angling downright daringly, one hand sweeping blonde mane back out of her eyes, lips curving in a lopsided little grin as she catches her breath, at least as subtly as she can manage, though she's not beyond taking that last offered smoke. Of course, having offered a light, she produces a silver zippo from the pocket of that dark leather jacket, flicking a flame out with expert ease, lighting her own cigarette and inhaling slowly. She offers the lighter up with a little quirk of her lips, before making a show of looking around the area. Sure, it's to keep an eye out for angry gangsters, but she manages to mostly make it look like she's trying to match Robbie up to the surroundings.
R"Nice to meetcha, Robbie. Not a lot of friendly faces around here usually. Dumpling order running a little late?" Those eyebrows make an almost suggestive jump, head tilting for a little nod towards the dumpling restaurant, arms hugging her jacket to herself just beneath her chest, drawing a slow pull on her cigarette. Hopefully the cover works, because she does -not- feel like getting into a tussle when she was already winded and puffing on nicotine isn't exactly going to help that out a ton.

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Its somewhat clear that Robbie doesn't necessarily belong here. He looks a little to street to be here in Chinatown without causing some trouble. Of course, a burning husk of a demon some few miles away would also attest to this. All the same, Robbie looks like he's shamelessly giving Dinah a full once-over.

God. Damn.

But as she accepts the cigarette, he tosses the leftover carton into a perfect bank shot into a trash can across the way. He accepts the zippo from her to light his cigarette and offers it back to her when he's well and lit up. "Thanks." he exhales smoke after a long pull, looking relaxed.

"Nice to meet you too, though a name to match your face with wouldn't be upsetting." he winks at her. Yes, he's flirting. Even if she's using him for some cover. Either way, if those goons come looking, they'll just see a car that screams 'my owner will skin you alive if you try it' and Robbie, who was no slouch in hand to hand. "Nah, I'm just chilling for the moment. Its been....a really long day. You?"

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah's e yes sparkle as she cocks her hips just a touch further, arches her back. Yeah, she's apparently pretty used to that double take reaction. And she plays into it a little. Okay, maybe more than a little.

But she also quirks an eyebrow as she watches that carton bank into the trash can, before she's taking her lighter back and grins widely.

"Oh, right! Sorry, sorry. I swear, you live in this city long enough and you forget what -manners- are. I mean, that and you develop like, all sorts of psychoses about clowns. And birds. Riddles. Calendars." Teeth worry her lower lip for a moment, like she's -truly- concerned about that list.

But then she's flashing a wide smile, purring out, "Oh! But right. Name. I'm Dinah, Dinah Lance. It's nice to meet you, Robbie." She eyes that car and grins, "And not just because I get to take a gander at your wheels."

She sighs and rolls her eyes playfully, "Oh, it's been a day. Not long, but... work... got a little hectic." She clicks her tongue and lifts an eyebrow, "But you know how the flower selling business can be, right? Some days it's like gang warfare."

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Robbie is noticing...quite a bit. The way she arches her back and showcases all of her curves, his eyes drinking it in as he perhaps scoots a tad bit closer to her. Nothing wrong with a little flirting to test the waters -- or his chances -- is there? He chuckles when she fumbles about her names. "Yeeeep. I heard thats basically Gotham City in a nutshell. birds and bats and cats and clowns...and literally every other gimmick under the moon." because Gotham is a night life city yo.

"Dinah." he repeats the name. "Pretty name." he then seems to smirk. "The car does help when it comes to talking to beautiful women like yourself." He's trying to be smooth. He might be failing.

He notices the hint about the flower shop. "You have a flower place? Whats it called, if you don't mind if I ask? I might've seen it a couple times." he exhales some smoke away from Dinah before his attention is fully on her again.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah draws a slow, deep breath, which does all sorts of entertaining things to her attire, if anything her jacket seems cut to enhance the effect. But then again, her eyes also glint with steely firmness as she murmurs out dryly, "Oh yeah, it's a real busy town. And... if you make fun of it, I'll clock you, Robbie Reyes, fine autmobile or not!"

She practically grits her teeth and groans, hand that's not holding her cigarette running through lustrous hair, fanning it back before she steels herself, "It's Sherwood Florist. And don't worry, if you have some remark in mind, I've heard -all- the lines. I mean, probably. Honestly I've never really been able to think of any myself."

And then Dinah hears more angry voices in the distance and remembers this isn't actually just a night time stroll she was on, "It's not really near here, I was just going to grab a rideshare back, so if you mostly hang out here, you might not've run by it before. Plus, I mean, Gotham's not really a great city for sentimentality? But I keep afloat."

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Most men would be melted by now, but Robbie? Robbie can take the heat. "Wouldn't dream of making fun of it. Besides, I've been to enough cities to know that Gotham has its charm." he smirks at her. "Though nice to know you think my car's fine. That the only thing?" Yeah, Robbie's being playful now. But when she mentions Sherwood Florist, he actually smiles. "Oh yeah, I know the place. I thought about going in once or twice, but I don't have anybody to buy flowers for." he chuckles.

He turns his head towards the sounds of angry voices. He then looks at Dinah. "I don't suppose you're worried about those punks shoutin? I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case scenario, you can pretend to be my girlfriend and I can point them to a different direction than who they're looking for." he takes a wild guess, but who knows, maybe she'll be amused.

"Either way, I can just give you a ride back so you don't have to take the rideshare. Besides, you can do it in style." he puffs out some smoke away from Dinah before focusing back on her."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah's finishes her cigarette, blowing a long streamer of smoke up into the sky, and as she hears those rushing footsteps nearing the corner she came around earlier, she smoothly steps forward, arms lifting, fingers lacing above her head, back arching in a languide stretch. At least until she snaps forward to hook her hands behind Robbie's neck, one knee bending, so as the gang rushes around the corner, she certainly doesn't look like a vigilante on the run. "Well! I mean, I'm sure not going to turn down a ride in that car. I mean, I'm usually more of a bike gal."

She flashes a crooked grin and murmurs out playfully, "Oh, would you? Let's say they're... uhh... kind of upset about a business deal gone wrong." She sighs and shakes her head, "Really, it's all just a misunderstanding."

And then she's pressing closer, making sure the gang's got as little to be suspicious of as possible as she murmurs dryly, "And I'll have you know I do -everything- in style, Robbie."

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Robbie took one final puff of his cigarette before he also sets it aside, having been finished with it. But before he can even say anything, Dinah is quite literally on him, the feel of her hands around his neck and herself pressed against him, he moves his arm to snake itself around her waist to press her even closer, she feels a hard form, one that has been certainly pushed and worked out. Muscles on top of muscles...seems Robbie is not all he appears to be.

"Well, then I'll help you sort out that business." he whispers to her lips, though the warmth of a touch isn't there yet, his other hand though moves to join the other around her waist, no distance between their figures at all.

He's either helping them sell it...or giving Dinah a reason not to pull away.

"Then I guess we should sell it, huh?" He starts leaning his head closer to hers, as if to introduce his lips to her own.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah breathes out a surprised little sound after a moment, she's certainly noticed that muscle. Her eyes narrow slightly, though she also tilts her head to press into that embrace, pressing close, breaath warm. So why's there a shiver running down her spine? "Oh... well, I guess I'll owe you one..."

Her arms cinch a little tighter, pressing fully to that solid form, it's downright perfect camoflague as she melds against Robbie, lips oh so achingly close to brushing his as she murmurs out with a playful dryness in her voice. "So now I owe you for this, the ride -and- your last smoke. You really aren't getting the best end of this new friendship yet."

She stays tensed as the gang members rush around, yelling and shouting in Cantonese... given the way her arms are relaxing in that embrace, she must understand what they're saying, and it's got to be something that's hinting they don't know the bombshell's their target as she's relaxing bit by bit. Heck, this embrace is becoming less convenient camo and more relaxing enjoyment. And that certainly surprises her.

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Its an embrace that is freely given, with the hope of something more that comes from their friendship...as if Robbie was hoping for something more than friendship. All the same, he feels that little shiver in her breath as they cinch to each other a little tighter, a perfect fit for both of them against the other's curves and edges, even as one of Robbie's hands explore a little bit up the arch ofh er back to tease her.

As their lips come so achingly, mind-breakingly close only to not so much touch quite yet, he smiles. "If this is the bad part, I can't wait to see the good part of this friendship." he teases her, though he feels her relax by bounds as the gangsters move around them.

"I take it they're not looking for you?" he whispers, breath warm on her lips. It becomes relaxing for him in a manner equal to her own, letting out a shaky breath. "I feel as if I should ask permission before I try to kiss you." he chuckles.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah shivers, her hips squirming a little. Maybe it's a show to throw the gang off, maybe it's genuine nervous energy, as her shoulders tense and lift at that touch roaming her back as she hisses out softly, "Nope, just.. mistaken identity. Why would a bunch of criminals have beef with an innocent, mild mannered florist?"

And then she's pulling back just a little, grinning wider, eyes sparkling with wild fire and playful intensity as she murmurs out. "Oh, really now? Well, I guess you might find out just what makes being my friend so great."

And then she's darting in after that remark about asking permission, and... well, she might not give her permission verbally, but surely that fiery kiss she dives into must count. It certainly seems to dispel any thoughts the gang might have about the couple. Of course, they might wind up noticing them -more-, but it'll strictly be out of jealousy. She lingers in that embrace before pulling back again and clearing her throat softly, "But I'm thinking we ought to get that ride started, huh? And, y'know, I should probably offer to buy you some smokes. Fair's fair and all, right friend?"

Robbie Reyes has posed:
"Mistaken identity, huh?" Robbie chuckles amusedly, though he notices her hips squirming and a hiss at the touch of her back. "Did I hurt you?" he seems genuinely concerned that he hurt a woman he...probably just fell for. Hard.

But then she's lunging at him before he can say another word, their mouths meeting in a fiery and passionate kiss that is returned just as much as is given. A gentle humm escapes Robbie's throat as they indulge in one another, before they eventually pull away with a parting gasp. He looks speechless for a moment as his eyes lock onto hers...and he ultimately looks like he's about to show her passion, but he eventually calms himself down. "Well, if thats a reward for helping out, I kinda want to know what the reward for asking you out on a date will be." he chuckles, before he nods. "But yeah...sure. Hop on in." he unlocks the car and slowly releases Dinah from his grasp, unless she wants to stay where she is and just...be with Robbie the entire time, like they do in those movies.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah pulls back, spinning fluidly, hips swaying as she downright struts to the open door, looking over her shoulder as she bends to lower herself and lift one leg to slip in as she chirps out, "Oh, the reward for asking me on a date is -misery-. Because I'll say yes, and then you're going to realize you need to think of where to take me and what to do, and all those little details that make dating so terrifying, right?" Her eyebrows pop up as she grins more like a cheshire cat than a canary, "But hey, there are worse ways to tempt fate than getting tangled up with me. Probably. I mean, I haven't seen any of them."

And then she's letting out a chime of genuine laughter, drawing the eyes of the gang, but it's clear they figure it's just a flirting couple they're seeing... which, well, they're not -wrong-. "Don't worry though, I'll make sure it's not -too- hellish!"

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Robbie smiles at Dinah, absolutely examining every single inch of her figure as she sways in her step before she opens that door and slips into the car. "How about dinner and a movie? There's that big theater just a little ways from here that we could go to, if you have an interest." Robbie smirks though at her comment that dating her is probably going to be a horrible experience.

"I'm not frightened. If anything, I'm the one who's likely going to be making you wanting to pull your hair out. Its definitely tempting fate...but if its for you, I'd tempt it all day." he smirks with her. He does laugh though, knowing the gag that may or may not be a gag is just gonna keep rolling. He gets into the drivers seat, and he revs that engine before they start going on their merry way.

"Heh." oh she has no idea about 'hellish'. But he does look at her from time to time. "So, tell me more about yourself, Dinah? Figure I should know more about a lady I just kissed before I try and kiss her again." he teases.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah buckles up, adjusts her seatbelt, and sinks back into the seat, instantly comfortable, long legs stretching out under the dash as she lets out an appreciative little whistle at the sound of that engine revving as she laughs and murmurs out. "Oh, that could work. Though I think I might like to stop home and change before we start -dating-, I mean, I usually try to, y'know, doll up a little if I'm going to dinner and a movie!" Plus, she's got a few souveniers from her earlier troubles to drop off... but, well, that's sure not something to mention!

So instead she draws her legs up, arms hooking under her knees as she whistle sout, "Hmmm, what to tell you about me... uhhh, I make bad decisions time to time? You already know I run the florist shop... I like Thai food? Terrible kung fu movies? I own a motorcycle, but -someone- decided to tear the engine down and then got lazy about finishing things up, and almost had to use a rideshare tonight. Damn that unreliable woman." She snickers softly, "And what about you, Robbie? You just drive around and like... what, hit the gym nine days a week?"

Robbie Reyes has posed:
Robbie smirks as she stretches out, treating the eyes and the car very well, it would seem. But at least she's very comfortable. "Dinner and a movie it is. But sure, if you'd like. Just tell me where to go and I can drop you off at home. Its...strange. I haven't been on a date, or even considered having a girlfriend in a long time." Though something tells him that Dinah would have no trouble getting a boyfriend if she really wanted one. "But if you ask me, you're already beautiful. No dolling up required."

Well isn't that sweet.

All the same, he hears about her likes and dislikes. "Heh, kung fu movies. I used to watch a few of those with my little brother. Funny stuff. I have this car, but I am also working on making myself a motorcycle. I'm a greese monkey in every sense of the word. Sorry about your bike, by the way. I do hit the gym, I do drive around, and I rarely save a beautiful blonde from a tough time." he smirks. "I really enjoy movies though, doesn't matter what its about. Its relaxing."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah laughs and shakes her head, giving her address and tilting her head, eyes rolling to look down at herself, hands moving to grip the lapels of her jacket, adjusting it showily, "Well, yeah, I guess I can see why you wouldn't mind going out with me right this instant. Showing off and all, huh?" She snickers and shrugs lightly.

"But don't worry, hanging out at my shop for a little bit won't kill you. Hell, it might be the only plant-based business in town that hasn't had the product turn into literal man-eaters. Guaranteed. And now now, you're not the one who left it half assembled this morning. That was all on me. Work came up suddenly. You know, urgent delivery of flowers."

She chews her lower lip and hums softly, "Well, if we're going out to catch a movie, you can look up what's playing too, right? We might as well... hell, try a real date?" She sounds downright happy about it. A little bit more info on the new drug sweeping the city, -and- a new friend? At least for now, Dinah's not even going to think about how her luck usually turns bad sooner or later. It's all rainbows and sunshine! Of course, that's just for now. Who knows how the date'll go, and as she sees her shop coming into view, she rummages for her keys, humming a little tune subconsciously. Yep, she's like the... canary who ate the cat? Well, if the worst part of her night is a bad turn of phrase, she'll chalk it up as a win.
