It's alive! IT'S ALIVE !
Date of Scene: 26 July 2020
Location: Labs - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Techno wakes up in the Titans Medbay after getting hit by PymTron's Encephelo beam.
Cast of Characters: Nadia Pym-van Dyne, Samuel Morgan

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
To say Nadia has been burning the candle at both ends lately would be a vast understatement. Between working overtime in the lab trying to get Brainiac's tech back into a functional condition and splitting time on getting her father's portal another dimension open in order to rescue him, she was already in a state of being sustained almost solely by caffeine. That was before she and Techno got the portal working, joined the Avengers and SHIELD going through the portal to rescue her father, and battled a horrific fusion of Hank Pym and Ultron. It seems she might have finally managed to get some sleep, if only due to pure exhaustion, but it is still a miracle that she is up and about and likely still fueled solely by caffeine.

Nothing it seems though was going to keep Nadia from being here for the friend who risked everything to help her save her father. She rushes into the lab looking around, it's the soonest she could get here given the circumstances and worry is written all over her face as she looks around for Samuel in the Medical area of the Labs.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
It's really not hard to find Sam in the medical area of the Tower. For one thing, he's the only patient right now. For another, there's a guide. As soon as Bear became aware that something had happened to Sam, the shepherd had been impossible to keep away, and is currently laying across his human, on full guard, ears swiveling the moment there's any sound approaching. The large head lifts up, gives a helpful bark towards Nadia, and then gives her a look... a /look/! Human! There's something wrong with my human! Help him! Do something!

Next to the bed, the vitals monitor is bleeping slowly, showing a steady heart rate, a steady blood pressure, a steady... well, everything. Steady, just not very high. Sam himself lays dead to the world in the bed, with the ribbons of the sensors exiting in a braid from the neck of the oversized jersey he's wearing instead of the usual hospital gown. Not a twitch, not a single indication that he can hear anything, is aware of anything... not even the frantic licking of Bear earlier had made an impression.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Once she spies the German Shepherd laying across Sam's unconcious body Nadia hurries over.

"You are such a good boy! Thank you for looking after him." she nuzzles her face into Bear's soft fur and wraps her arms around the big dog giving him a big hug.

Her worried expression lessens slightly when she sees that Sam is already out of his armor. That can't have been easy to do. "Bear, can I check him please?" she leans in whispering to the dog, talking to him like he's Lassie or something, "I want to help him wake up." She gives the dog a gentle pat but a nudge nonetheless suggesting he move so she can examine Sam.

The thing about assassin training, they always cover medical so agents can stay more self-sufficient in the field. So it is that she begins checking Sam's vitals and looking at the monitors, his pulse, his breathing, all of it trying to determine the cause of his condition, "Come on Techno, wake up damn it."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
'Whurf!' It's a grateful Bear that lays his head on Nadia's shoulder, emitting just a soft whine during the hug. He's worried, and very worried at that about his human, that much is certain. But he's also incredibly smart. Talking to him as if he's Lassie the Wonder Dog actually produces results. Another quick 'Whruf' and Bear scoots on over, moving further down the bed to lay across Sam's feet. He's not going to abandon his vigil, but understands that Nadia is here to help.

It's a steady rhythm for Sam's vitals. They're on the low side, but never straying into alarming territory. For all the world, he looks like he's just sleeping so deeply that a gunshot wouldn't wake him up... would it? Hmmm. Perhaps best not to test that one just yet. Across the room, a light flickers for a moment.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia glances across the room at the flickering light, light, that reminds her of something else to check and she grabs a small flashlight from a nearby tray. Making her way over to where Sam's head is, she reaches down and shines the light into the eye testing the pupil dilation response and looks for rapid eye movement to see if he is in fact dreaming.

"Maybe you need to be jumpstarted? Do your powers work that way?" she idly wonders aloud as if asking him, like attaching jumper cables to Sam and cranking up the electricity might actually be a good idea.

She's still thinking about that idea when her eyes fall on the CATscan machine, "Maybe a look at your brain will help us figure this out?" Talking to Sam like they're still working on this together, like the past week with the Portal and also Brainiac's tech, truth be told they've been working together a lot lately.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Bear gives a start when Nadia suddenly tests Sam's eye reflex, but doesn't do more than give her a look. Friendly he might be, he's also fiercely protective of his human, and very worried right now. But after a few moments, Bear's attention is grabbed by the light, and then he suddenly looks towards another corner, where a light starts to flicker just a few moments later. Huh... Does he know something nobody else does?

It doesn't seem like Techno is sleeping or dreaming, no indicator that there's any cognitive activity whatsoever. It's a bit eerie, really, given how much thought and knowledge had been pouring out of him in the past few weeks, to suddenly see him reduced to simply... existing.

    'WHURF!'

Bear is staring at the vitals monitor, which has gone dead. Not flatlined, just dead. Blank, as if switched off.

Except in the edge of the screen, a cursor is blinking.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia does the only sensible thing to do in this situation she walks over and smacks the side of the vitals monitor hoping to restore it to working order with the tried and true method of 'Percussive Maintenance'. "Didn't we just fix this thing recently?" she makes a face at it, squinting at the monitor. That cursor is unusual...

"What is it bear?" she asks the canine, since why not he seemed to understand her before and maybe he knows something. "Huh, the lightning seems to be..." and then she looks back at Sam's unconcious form. "Is this you Techno? Are you doing this?" and she starts examining both the flickering of the lights and blinking of the cursor for any deeper meaning like morse code or other tell tale patterns.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Bear appears transfixed by the monitor, watching it with an intensity that's hard to credit. And ever so slowly, by fractions, his tail starts to wag.

The output of the monitor itself looks like gibberish, a sudden scrolling of code, starting small but expanding in scope and complexity until it's just lines and lines of elegant expressions scrolling across the screen. It's... almost like a memory dump, before a system hard resets. Bits flash, others are highlighted in a very angry red, and at these bits the screen always freezes, before they are altered or deleted entirely, occasionally scrolling back up to find more of these problematic expressions that are being expunged.

As if it's a heuristic scanner hunting for malware.

The process speeds up, ever faster, until it's too fast for the human eye to follow.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
It does not take a super genius to put together what is happening, but Nadia is one all the same and so she picks up on it really quick. "You're coming back! Is your brain really a computer?!" Excitement, fascination, curiousity.

The light is tossed aside as she wraps Sam's seemingly rebooting form in a big bear like the one she gave Bear earlier. "I was so worried about you, you did all of that to help me and then and then... I'd never have forgiven myself." One arm of the hug releases only so she can wipe away the beginnings of tears from the corners of her eyes.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Bear gets in on the action, bounding forwards and nuzzling in between Nadia and Sam, tail wagging so quickly it's in danger of wagging him. For his part, Sam is starting to stir just slightly, a twitch of a finger, the shudder of a breath.

On the screen, the code is vanishing, scrolling past until it's off the display. Words take its place.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia's eyes drift back to the screen giving it a worried look even as she continues to the group bear hug with Bear. A Bear bear hug. "That doesn't mean he's going to activate some crazy zombie killer mode and attack us, right Bear?" she seems mildly concerned about this, perhaps far less than she actually should be.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Bear tilts his head at the question, but a moment later Sam's arm comes up and pulls the shepherd into a hug. Fierce licking ensues, and Techno raises his eyebrows, eyelids struggling to open. It's the wake-up routine of someone who hasn't slept in ages, and has finally been forced to spend some time in the arms of Morpheus.

On the screen, the slightly worrying declaration abruptly disappears and is superseded by a logo. It's an odd one. Very... tentacle-y. Some people would know it as the HYDRA logo, for others it's just... slightly disturbing. Underneath the logo are the words 'Project Scorpio' and the blinking text 'Initialising'

Until even that crumbles to dust, literally, on the screen, and is replaced by the stylised 'T' that can be found on the pauldron of Techno's suit. For a few seconds all the lights dim, get brighter...

And the monitor beeps steadily on, showing strong vitals, while Sam wraps his other arm around Bear as well, as if cuddling the world's most living plushie. "Tell me... somewhere... there's coffee... and aspirin."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Shock, that is the best way to describe Nadia's expression, her emotional rollercoaster of the past week has left her with few reserves at the moment and she is looking between the scene and Sam in shock. It takes a moment but she reminds herself of her own background, not that she could ever really forget it. Relief comes when the screen shifts to the Titans logo. So Sam was Hydra once? So what. In a way having been the tool of a secret evil criminal organization is just another thing they have in common.

"Welcome back Techno." she smiles standing up, like she definitely was not just hugging his unconcious body and crying moments ago. "Thanks for all your help, ...with everything." It's like the emotions of interpersonal reactions other than happy are still a bit of a work in prgress for her. But she seems sincerely glad that he is back and grateful for everything he did for her.

"Oh right! Coffee and Aspirin!" she remembers after a moment dashes to one of the cupboards for a bottle of pills then off to get a thermos. Because there is /always/ a thermos of coffee in the Lab, sometimes multiple.

Eventually she returns to Sam juggling some aspirin, a glass of water, and a mug of coffee, "Breakfast is served!"

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Big damn heroes, 's what we are." With a big thumbs-up, Sam seems to be utterly over anything that might have happened. Or so he says, anyway, only Bear really knows for sure, and that shepherd is far too happy to have his human back to dissect the statement. With one paw on Sam's chest and his head on the teen's shoulder, Bear installs himself seemingly permanently and is likely going to be very hard to shift. At least he's left his human the use of one arm to accept the offerings of the caffeine god.

Swallowing the aspirin with a healthy sip of coffee (oh breakfast of champions), Techno looks over to Nadia. "How's your dad? We got him, didn't we?"

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"We got him!" Nadia gives Sam an enthusiastic thumbs up, "He's fine. I'm sorry I wasn't hear sooner, you both were... and I couldn't... I had to stay until he woke up but Vic came to get you. I'm sorry." she walks around Sam seemingly examining him from all angles as if inspecting him for lingering damage. "You were so great, thank you."

"We should get you some actual breakfast." That Hydra logo and the things she saw on the screen are still on her mind but she seems to be avoiding the subject for the time being.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Attempt to get up, the first. Blocked by cautious canine. Now that Sam is awake, Bear seems intent to make sure that he stays in bed, mostly likely trained not to let his human go wander off after ending up in hospital without some kind of official sanction. "Look, I gotta eat, okay?"

    'Whurf!'

"We both have to eat." Because for some reason, Techno doesn't think it's quite the same day anymore. Someone has wisely removed all of his personal electronics, so he couldn't just tap into his phone and find out what day it was. "You want breakfast too, don't you?"
    'Whurrrf!'
    "Yes, with bacon."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia smiles happily at the boy and his dog, "You both need to work this out." she stifles a laugh, "Because Caitlin is probably upstairs and I want some of whatever she is inevitably cooking. And then we can touch base with her and get back to work on this Brainiac tech, while we've been napping the people in those cities have still been waiting." For all that she's been through, she bounces back quick, "Oh, and my Dad is going to help us, too. And Tony Stark has called a meeting tomorrow to discuss all the logistics and information sharing. But first, seriously come on Bear we all need to eat." Was she actually talking to Bear the entire time?

Samuel Morgan has posed:
The two seem to come to an understanding. After one last lick, Bear stands and hops off the bed, allowing Sam to finally get up. Right now he doesn't worry about what he's wearing (an oversized Titans jersey at the very least) and spends a little while getting electrodes and sensors off of himself. Then comes the inevitable stretch, a yawn, and that's Techno back up to full speed. Mostly. Practically all the way there. Not quite on all cylinders, because one thing only now seems to filter through.

"Tony Stark? Called a meeting, and I assume we're going? Anthony Howard Iron Man Stark? A meeting? And... we're going?" All of a sudden, he looks like a kid who just now realised that he hasn't actually done his homework, and has just been asked for it in front of the whole class. "Best make that a quick breakfast then, there's no way I'm anywhere near enough prepared for that kind of meeting. Oh gods..."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia grins from ear to ear with the brilliance of a thousand suns, "Yes! /The/ Tony Stark. He organized a lot of the scanning and data collection related to Mutant Town and who knows what else. I've been trying to see him and ask for some of his data for while. But he's Tony Stark, so it's been almost impossible and the Avengers also are still a little suspicious of me I think. But! He and my father know each other, because my father is an Avenger, so he talked to Mr. Stark and now there is a meeting and /we're/ invited. I mean we have all of Brainiac's hardware that we've been working on and the shrunken cities Illyana sent over, so it makes sense."

A pause "...I wonder if they can hear everything we're saying like the voice of the gods echoing from the sky?" Random thoughts, "Anyway, yes there is a lot of work to do but first I need breakfast and more coffee. Let's go!"

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"It's just... last time I saw him, he was still running for President, and I'd just failed to stop AIM from kidnapping him." A shake of his head, and Sam starts to head for the elevator, yawning, still carrying that cup of coffee. "Seems like every time I see him, I do or say something stupid. This time though... this time I'm going to be prepared." And probably put on some pants too, that would at least be a start.

"Breakfast. Coffee... Some Methyltheobromine is just what I need."
