Cast of Characters: Lorna Dane, Logan Howlett

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna exhaled a breath as she dropped down to the ground in the shade, exhausted but at least she'd been going longer and longer in her training bouts. Little bursts that went just a little bit better than a week ago. Not readily apparent, but it was baby steps. It would take time. The green haired woman leaned back, pulling off the gloves from her hands and reaching for her water bottle. She closed her eyes, rubbing away the sweat that had accumulated on her brow.

It was warm outside, downright hot for the area, and she'd still wanted to continue with training regardless. The breeze off the lake the only break in the heat that lingered in the sunshine further beyond. Not too far away a few students splashed and dove into the lake, within eyesight.

The young woman reached up and redid her ponytail, a grimace twisting her lips. "Right... break time.."

Logan Howlett has posed:
Logan was finding the heat unpleasant himself, but he'd long learned how to push through environmental discomfort. He had at some point discarded his shirt and developed a sheen of sweat over his torso and arms. He snatches an old military style canteen from beside a tree and tilts back to chug.

Gazing Lorna's direction for a moment in thought, he then nods. "Yea, you earned it this time. Some of this is finally clickin' as muscle memory for ya. I wouldn't enter you into the bloodsport, but Joe Smoe isn't gonna run roughshod over ya if some reason your powers ain't workin'."

He nods again and draws a towel over his brow. "Now if only I'd ever seen Magneto throw a punch."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna smiled in Logan's direction, as she practically sprawled at the base of a nearby tree. "Well, I guess I'll keep that in mind. Who knows what might happen these days?" She muttered, and shook her head as she closed her eyes briefly, tilting her head back and enjoying the breeze off the lake.

"I don't know if my father even knows how to throw a punch. Somehow it seems undignified for him. He's always..." She wiggled her fingers out in front of her. "And giving big speeches and tossing trucks at people." She glanced back at Logan.

"I ran into Namor at the Hellfire Club the other day while I was waiting for a business contact. He said something like my father's vanity or ego was massive.. and I had to bite my tongue to keep from remarking on his?" She mused, "Why is it that I keep having work with men and massive egos?" She muttered.

Logan Howlett has posed:
He leans against the same tree, breathing hard not out of fatigue but out of trying to dissipate some body temperature. He nods with a grunt regarding Magneto's habits for dealing with conflict.

His brow knits at the mentioning of Namor and the comparison of egos. He lets out a low whistle and laughs. "Talkin' about pot and kettle."

Tilting his head to the side, he leans in just a bit, "Lorna.. Men with power can't help but develop an ego. Especially young men.. but you'd figure older folks like Magneto and Namor would temper it with a hair of wisdom. Guess they haven't had their teeth kicked in enough."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna laughed softly as she took another sip of her water bottle. "Lets see, of the men I've sat down and talked to this week, it includes Doom, Namor, Stark.." She paused, "For the most part they've been polite to me at least? More so than a bunch of teenagers that tried to lecture me about mutants.. But I expect that from teenagers." She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"It'll be interesting to go to the fundraiser for Mutant Town tomorrow... I dunno. I'm talking your ears off about politics and the never ending circus of it. It's something I won't miss if my father takes over Genosha and everything. I can just go back to.. well, being me. I guess."

Logan Howlett has posed:
"Yea know, if you are willin' to let go of power so easily, you really should consider keepin' it. Best leaders of people do it reluctantly, in my opinion." Logan remarks as he runs a towel over his bushy scalp of hair. "I'm probably easy to talk politics to, on account I don't got much of an opinion on 'em."

He raises an eyebrow at her, "What's bein' you entail, Lorna? If you aren't carryin' the mantle of Genosha, what do you plan on doin'? Dedicatin' yourself as a X-man? A lesser power in Genosha? If Magneto takes it back, he should at least make you the ambassador. Considerin' you can do diplomacy, and he can't."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna's eyebrows shot upward as Logan spoke of her considering keeping it. "I had plans that once Genosha was stable to step down and allocate more power to the Council and parliament. Well more than previously, it existed on Genosha before but well.." She shrugged.

As Logan continued though she sighed heavily, "Work on getting my PhD, travel? See the world and learn more about it. I felt like I went from high school here to, college and my father's rule on Genosha.. and then was dumped into the middle of trying to rule a broken people. How can I govern with so little? It feels like I'm doing a disservice to everyone with my ignorance." She grimaced, "And diplomacy is going to struggle with my father's return if he doesn't make serious changes in how he handles things. Doom as much said so, in not so many words. Namor wouldn't even speak with my father. And I doubt Wakanda would want to be seen working with him." She exhaled a breath.

"So I guess I selfishly just don't want it to be my responsibility anymore."

Logan Howlett has posed:
He offers a deep pensive hum and then nods, "You've got humility, Lorna. That's uh.. a rare trait in powerful mutants, just sayin'. A little more experience under your belt might be better, but.. I can't say you are doin' a disservice to anyone."

He raises a hand and scratches at his cheek, eyes narrowing. "You do deserve a chance to spread your wings and experience the world. It would make you a better leader in the end. Folks don't get enough exposure. Heck, even you are just talkin' to their leaders. A day in the streets of a given country an tell ya a lot."

He chuckles lowly at a thought, "If ya could cast off all the politickin', I could teach you some swordplay. Might even rope Kitty in. Bet she's gettin' rusty."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna's lips twitched, "I've had my ass handed to me too many times to ever forget that kind of thing, Logan. I'm also young, and I've been trying to run a country of a few thousand people for the past six months. I keep being told by everyone around me that I'll mess up, or not to do something.. and .. well.." She shrugged, "Just because I am a better option than my father doesn't say much. He's charismatic and all, but he'll never be happy with an island kingdom. Not really." She sighed heavily, and took another sip of her water.

"Heh, I actually demanded that Namor let me spend time in his kingdom freely if he wished the same. I wanted to learn more about his people, it's not like I can search the internet about them. And he agreed. I just have to figure out a better way to not drown." She mused, and smiled as he spoke of sword training.

"Laura would start me on a wooden sword just to make sure I wasn't cheating."

Logan Howlett has posed:
"People really tellin' you that, Lorna? Well fuck em." He growls lowly and raises up a leg, resting his forearm on it. He nods at the comment regarding Atlantis. "See, naturally curious about people. Folks like you should make the final decisions. Use some advisers or somethin' to plug the gaps in knowledge, but no one as apathetic as Magneto should rule. Dream ain't worth much if you trample over everyone achievin' it."

He snort, "Cheatin' might be okay. If you are duelin' your father with clashin' metal, gettin' a feel for leverage and spacin' might help ya finesse yourself out of a bad situation. All guess work though. All an experiment. Not exactly like its twistin' my arm to spend time around attractive young women or a bad idea for me to befriend at least one person with magnetism powers."

Lorna Dane has posed:
A shrug followed Logan's advice to tell people off, "When everyone thought my father was dead? Yeah.. from the Brotherhood, to the Acolytes, to hell.. Scott.. Everyone tried to tell me what I should or shouldn't do. As if I was failing to live up to what they wanted me to be. There are factions even on Genosha that dislike me a great deal.." She sighed, and her lips twisted into a thin line of consideration.

Anything further broke off as Logan spoke of her cheating being okay, and his commentary earched an arch of her eyebrow upward. "We could test how Danger Room versions of my father react to that.. but I'll tell you this much. He can over power my control on things. If I ran at him with a sword, there's a good chance I couldn't keep control of it." She shot him a look at the 'attractive young woman' comment.

"Careful there Logan, someone might think you're flirting, and I dunno if I'm ready to deal with Gabby and Laura giving me a stink eye."

Logan Howlett has posed:
"Only two people to live up to Slim's expectations are the professor and Jean. Do not get me started." Logan waves a hand dismissively then purses his lips. "Wonder how he overpowers ya. Skeptical of him just bein' innately stronger than you. There's always a trick, some way to equalize things. Look at the brawlin' world, yea, with the wrong matchup, no technique is gonna help. However, if you are fit and battle-ready, right technique can balance the scale or tip. World of martial arts are full of people turnin' other's own strength against 'em. If you keep lookin' you might find that edge you need."

Logan laughs and shrugs, "I'm always getin' in trouble for flirtin', Lorna. Though I could see why you might not want to piss off Laura." He snorts.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna shrugged lightly, "Scott and I have mended things over the worst of it. We agreed that we won't actually agree on everything, and that's okay. He's worried I'll turn into another Magneto, which.. a lot people are. So." She exhaled a breath, and took another gulp of water from her metal bottle.

"Our polarities are opposite, I can switch polarities, and so can he. He has been around a lot longer than I have.. and doubtlessly knows all kinds of tricks. He trained me on Genosha and that's where I get most of my understanding of this from." She bit back laughter at Logan's own laugh, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips agian.

"I could probably bribe Gabby with junk food, but I doubt I could get away with that in regards to Laura. You're sort of the closest thing to a father figure she has, and well.. I've had to watch people flirt with my father. It's awkward to say the least."

Logan Howlett has posed:
"Pupils can grow beyond their masters. Find your unique style. Just like hand-to-hand, our bodies are all different. Different strengths, flexibility, speed... Take the bits uniquely you, and double down on 'em. If you don't know what those are, go discover 'em." He grunts to punctuate his sage advice.

"Father figure. That poor girl. None of 'em deserve me. I don't even know where t'begin. Sure, I can teach, but.. There's more to it then that, huh? Still, if they ever decide to call me that. I'll let 'em, I guess. Gabby deserves the world. Laura... shouldn't face the demons we share alone." He sighs and then stands. "Either way, they'll have to deal with me flirtin' at some point. I ain't dead."

He guffaws then drapes his towel over his shoulder. "I'm headin' back. Let's call it for the day. I need a cold one."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Another shrug followed as Lorna gathered up the workout gloves she'd discarded, and replaced the lid on her water bottle. She got up, rolling her shoulders back. "We'll have to try and find out I guess.. All of this is premature either way. Maybe he won't want anything to do with war and threats and will go and retire." She joked, not that either of them had much faith in that ever happening.

"Just keep being there is the best advice I can offer Logan. It gives them both time to come to terms with what they want in life or don't want." She flashed him a smile. "Maybe don't use that logic for why you should be able to flirt in front of Laura, she might get ideas." She teased, and shook her head. "A drink sounds good."
