It's the New Kids! Played By: the New Kids!
Date of Scene: 04 March 2020
Location: Joe's Restaurant and Cafe
Synopsis: Three newcomers to Happy Harbor meet in a diner. It nearly goes bad.
Cast of Characters: Sebastian Winters, Andi Benton, Morgan le Fay

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters just doesn't sleep. Not while he's using... not a drug. Though in some ways it is starting to be adictive for him. His powers. The artifacts he uses to make himself stronger, more able, and more confident... its that extra confidence that is addictive. All the more how insideous the artifacts can be on one's will. A lesson he will eventually have to learn.

It is a cool night in Happy Harbor, the sea breeze adding its tinge of salt to the frosty air as a light fog settles down over the entire town. The streets are empty of traffic. Everything is quiet and dark except for the streetlamps and the warm welcoming lights shining through the windows like a becon at Joe's diner. A couple people are in there even now, a delivery truck driver and a sleepy bank security guard who is on his late night lunch break. Sebastian enters the cafee, the bell on the door ringing and he settles in at the counter taking up a stool as he orders some coffee and a piece of home made apple pie.

Andi Benton has posed:
Andi's new in town. How new? She hasn't even been seen at the school. Yet, there she is in the diner, whatever the hour is, dressed in purples and blacks, purple hair to boot, multiple piercings that go beyond just the ears, somewhat pale skin...

Let's just say she stands out for looking notably different, done up in some gothic, punk style.

She's also completely alone at a table booth, as far away from the other patrons as she could find, and she's mostly leaned over a burger she's in the process of finishing off. When the bell rings and someone heads toward the counter, she eyes the teenager warily.

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana Lefey is a surprise visitor here. She's come out of her apartment to get food. That's a shock when she's got food a few steps away in a far, far more impressive way than a fridge. Well when she's got a portal to her castle hidden in her apartment (oh that's gonna be a tough find for any renter), she still wants creature comforts. So she's here tucked away in a corner with her robes on to fight the cold and a thick winter coat over her her forest green robes. and leather gloves on, and, yes, a furry hat under the hood of her robe. She's complaining under her breath about the weather. Her familiar, Merlin (ironic name, given her past deeds over many lives) is curled up in her lap, though Morgan carefully gets up to order coffee,, bacon, eggs and pie. No spam, thankfully and she will stab any singing Vikings too.

Morgan looks around and then feels like she got hit with a hammer. She narrows her eyes on Seb, as if figuring out if he's a hreat to her. Either way. Food's ordered and Morgana returns to her booth. It's just a little head turn from the bar, and she's making a literal fort of books. Not all are school books, either. There's a bit of everything, too. She's certainly able to be seen and talked to, keeping a watching eye on things from her spot. Merlin's back in her lap too, curled up. Merlin, the all black with green eyed kitten, and Morgana's familiar, is helping keep her warm, too.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters takes in the room and looking around he sees two potential comrades in arms... they're the right age anyway. One even has a stack of books that just scream's 'student' when you see her, and the other... doesnt look like she wants to socialize. He mmmns hard choice. Best to crack some shells...

He gets off his stool and picks up his small plate with the pie and the coffee in his other hand and wanders over towards the punky/goth girl's booth. "Hey there. Would you like some company?" he asks, "I'm kind of new around here." You'll note that though he is speaking in completely american english dialect, there is something of an european accent to his words. Brittish perhaps, with a little something else. "If not thats okay...." he seems to cut off his sentence a little as something whispers in his ear. ~Power! Caution it is near!~

Andi Benton has posed:
There's only a brief notice of Morgan over that way, but the Harry Potter robes draw a mildly amused sniff. "Halloween's months away," Andi mutters under her breath, having no reason to suspect anyone else might be capable of overhearing, whether that's the case or not.

Then, the guy at the counter is getting up. Go the other way, not this way, turn around! That's what Andi's thinking about right now, and as her wishes are ignored she heaves a visible sigh as Sebastian stops nearby. "Not really," she answers all too bluntly, avoiding saying anything about her own newness. "Just trying to eat and go back home and not get lost on the way." And there, she gives it away with a mild grimace. Dumb, Andi. Dumb.

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana snaps her head up as she hears whispering. So, that whispering girl's making snide remarks at her. Two can play at that game. "Do the teachers have a magnet if you're late for class?" Morgan whispers back. See, she can be catty and mean too but she gives the pierced girl a sympathetic smile, she knows how it is to want to be left alone. Even so she snaps her gaze to Seb and her eyes narrow on him. Power. There's a voice in her head that's telling her all this. She's focusing on her books, a little bit of Cornish, a bit of history, some social studies, cat care. At the cat care one, Merlin jumps up onto the book and curls up atop a picture of a cat's food bowl. This draws a musical giggle from Morgana. "It's not food. Plus you eat bettr than that" she says gently. Well she's not going anywhere now. Gods help them all if Merlin finds the picture of the cat toys...

Morgana really doesn't want to sweep up the place, thanks, nope. Instead she's flicking her gaze everyone and doing her best to figure out what they are all up to. The girl making whispery comments? In a corner, probably a goth kid. The guuy with the aura like a hammer? Eating, obviously. The truck driver and guard? Working, if Morgana had to guess

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters smiles, "Lost? Well this is kind of the end of the world as far as the Colonies is concerned... or the beginning. You're in Happy Harbor, just on the northeast edge of Staten Island... if you need to get back on Interstate One, just go north and west till you get to the highway. Cant miss it." he says not sitting down and hovering there holding his pie and coffee for a moment... and yet somehow that isn't awkward for him at all. He just exudes confidence and friendliness.

He half ignores the snipe from behind him not sure who it is directed at then it dawns on him that the piercings of the girl he is looking at are definitely the target. He steps back so he can see both at once with just a glance and grins, "I take it you two know eachother?" he remarks. The truck driver looks up and then turns his head back down to his food and his newspaper. The Security guard is half asleep in his stew which a dollup of has stained his nametag on his uniform 'Deputy Lee' it says though the man looks to be ancient. The waitress behind the counter just goes about her business not even taking note of the cat in the restraunt. Strange that.

Sebastian smirks as he stands there between the whispered exchange that carries through the entire place between songs from the turned down juke box in the corner.

Andi Benton has posed:
"I knew that," Andi says, a deadpan. Yes, she knows this is Happy Harbor, this is Staten Island, and so on. Self-consciously, she probes at one of the piercings in her lip with her tongue, then stops abruptly.

It's Morgan's whisper, drawing a snap of her eyes over that way as they widen. How did she hear..? Even if the retort is catty, even if there's a smile afterward, she looks back down at her plate as if it's the most interesting thing in the diner.

Then, she gives an answer that could cover both questions from Sebastian and Morgan: "No." At least, she doesn't know anyone here. Presumably, nobody's ever used a magnet for the studs, hoops, and rings.

Dejectedly, she complains at the plate, "I hate new places."

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana sympathizes with hating new places. Hey, she's had many, many lives to figure that out. It gets old, fast, being reincarnated. She accepts the pie, bacon, eggs and coffee, and moves the kitten back into her lap again. Her eyes are still on everyone else, though she debates moving over to talk. Instead she motions to them both, almost like asking if they want to come sit with her? See. She can be friendly. When she wants to be, like, well, now.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters nods sagely to Andi, concluding correctly from that last sentence that not only is Andi not lost but she's new in town and possibly a new student here just like himself. "I'm new in town too. Have you met Doctor MacIntyre yet? She's the Headmist... er Principal I think they call them here." The studs and whatnot really don't seem to throw him for a loop at all. Infact its as if he's been around a lot of people with such things. Same could be said for the robes for the bookish sniper across the way. Where he was from 'goth' was a thing before goth was a thing. Though much of that was before his time. Still in the archeology business as an intern you meet lots of nerdy and unusual types. Himself among them until he got his abilities.

"Ah don't be like that. Happy Harbor is quaint. Harmless. I don't think you'll have any trouble from what I've seen.... most... of the people are ultra friendly." he says giving Morgan a glance. "Name is Winters, Sebastian... nice to meet you... and you too..." he grins turning his head back and forth beaming his smile like a lighthouse becon between the two. He stands there a moment longer, still somehow avoiding awkwardness and then he plops himself down in the booth next to Andi's between the two and he slides back sideways in the seat with his back to the wall so that he can see both of them. It is close enough to be sociable and accepting of Morgan's invitation and yet splits the difference between the two without invading Andi's space completely.

Andi Benton has posed:
Andi, who has yet to give her name, glances between the two that are apparently vying for her attention. "My dad just went in today to talk to them," is all she says to Sebastian as far as the principal is concerned. "Only a few more months until I was going to be done with school forever, and we had to move here. It looks boring, and I don't like it, and I'd rather be back in Philly." There, a little more for them to pick out about her, and the accent begins to make sense if they've ever met someone else from the area.

Now that he's told her who she is, she's going to have to be polite and answer with her own name, isn't she? With a huff, she says, "Andi." No last name, though. They'll find it out soon enough once she's in school. While she doesn't leave the booth yet, in spite of Morgan's invitation - she must not be ready to socialize /that/ much - she asks over, "Does this school have some weird dress code or something?"

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana nods to both of them. "Morgana. Morgana Lefey" she says. It's not the most clever false ID ever. It works.

Watching them all, Morgana's got a Cornish accent as well. English, with a Cornish accent. "I grew up here" she says, which...doesn't explain the accent, oddly enough. She's not got any trace of an American accent, it's Cornish. Rolling her 'r's, dropping her 'h' sounds to. "So" Morgana says with a smile. "Philadelphia" Morgana nods approvingly, then to Sebastian. "You're English?" she adds with a raised eyebrow, her hood falling down revealing her face and black hair, green eyes flicking from one to the other.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
The waitress comes around the counter to do her rounds of freshening coffees and taking further orders or settling checks. Sebastian just gives her a twenty, "Keep the change." he says to her with a smile. The waitress really brightens up and tops off his coffee before shuttling off to her station. She still doesnt seem to notice the cat right there atop of the stack of books as clear as day. Perhaps this diner is pet friendly or something, Sebastian thinks.

Sebastian quirks at Morgana's name and accent. "I'm from Sommerset, England, well most recently anyway. My parents drag me all over the place to be honest." adding some sympathy to Andi's plight. "Nice to meet you both. Interesting name you have, Morgana. Your parents must have a thing for "Mort De Arthur"." he says in a friendly tone adding a tiny bit of sympathy without being patronizing.

Andi Benton has posed:
Andi Benton may just have to find out the hard way about dress codes, but if they make her wear some kind of robes...

Both brows shoot upward as Morgana's name is given. "Yeah, okay," she replies skeptically at that, clearly not believing it. Everyone who's read about Excalibur, Camelot, and Arthurian legend would recognize that name, so it's /got/ to be fake. "I knew some people liked their roleplay, but..."

Voice trails off, since it's time for her to settle up her check. Cash is produced from a pocket with an expected tip, not as generous as Sebastian's, which gets a, "Nice one, Richie Rich." Hey, her dad used to watch the cartoon. "Sucks to not get to settle down somewhere and get used to things."

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana looks hurt by Andi's words, and watches her quietly. "I get that a lot" she says to Seb, and shakes her head. "So where are you from?" she asks with a look then looks to Andi. "You think I'm playing at being Morgan le Fey?" she asks suddenly. "There's no groups around here. Believe me. I checked. None" she says and keeps her eyes on Andi even as Morgana's anger fades. "Look, you can think what you want, okay, but I'm not playing at it, okay?" she says, watching Andi more. "I thought we were done with the catty remarks. You're going to HHHS, so do I, we need all the friends we can get, right?" she asks with a look between them.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters mmmns at that reaction not expecting the vehimence of it. "Nah most people just wouldnt pick up on the name as being your real one. Thats all. Its like me coming in here and saying I'm Elvis." He grins, "Don't worry about it. Your parents just had a thing for corny names... or cornish ones anyway. I've known a LeFey or two from where I'm from. One guy even said he was a decendant of the real deal. Though if you ask me he was a bit balmy." That last sentance is thick with his accent before he reverts back to an almost american one again.

"Yeah we'll get on. So don't ruffle your feathers. Besides it seems like all three of us are new. I've only met a couple of the regulars but mostly I've been meeting with either teachers or other imports like us. Wait till you meet the one with the dog... oh by the way thats a service dog he has. Don't pet it. Its not a pet its a working dog." he says in passing.

Andi Benton has posed:
A genuine look of confusion bubbles up in Andi's expression as Morgana insists she is who she claims. The wounded reaction, followed by the sharper response that carries something within it, then the attempt to make some peace. Either this girl is a great actor, or..maybe there's something more to it.

"Okay, okay. You're Morgan le Fay, or Morgana, or whatever. Sorry." It's a defensive answer, having put her in a place she wasn't expecting to be. She's still skeptical, but now she's not so sure she's got everything figured out in here.

"I keep to myself," she adds, choosing that moment to stare out the window. It isn't done to ignore or rebuff either of them. Rather, the way she shrinks into the booth just so, it could pass as an attempt to hide a bit. "I don't...have many friends." It shouldn't be hard to guess why, but she was clearly about to say something else before she paused. Much of what Sebastian has to add, unfortunately, is left alone.

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana's main concern is placating Andi, and she nods. "I understand wanting to be alone though" she says and nods. "I just get defensive about people thinking I'm fake" she says gently, looking from Seb to Andi then back to the girl with more metal than a punk rock tour as she gives Andi a knowing smile. "You wear your heart on your sleeve and you say what's on your mind. That's a good thing" she nods, digging into food more. The books? They are rearranged a little more,as Morgana looks to Andi. "I'm sorry for getting defensive"

Wait, what? Is Morgana admitting fault? Hold the freaking phone. Morgan le Fey is admitting fault and backing down. Okay, what is in the coffee here? Yeesh, what's in the food to get Morgan to want to reach out and befriend both of them, the fellow Brit, and the goth girl. Morgana just sees a lot of herself in Andi really. Looking to Seb, Morgana watches for a moment or two then back to Andi. Merlin mews from her lap, having stayed out of it and doing the whole licking paws thing....which yes, Morgana never understands. Oh she could never be a kitten. Merlin decides then to join the discussion by poking his head above the table and sniffing her plate. "Hey. No!" Morgana says. "You stay there. Bacon's bad for cats"

Or, she just wants food and not sharing it? Nah. Sharing with a cat. Nope.Instead she gives them both a genuine smile.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters smirks, "Yeah its all cool. Go ahead and speak your mind around me. I can take the abuse and not hate you for it." he gestures, "Oh and you said you don't have many friends? Well how about one more?" he smiles, "Really. I may be a highschool AP geek but around here we're all going to be small fish in a big pond instead of the other way around. I hear there's a LOT of 'special' people at the school. Big super egg head crowd and from what I've seen every one there is an over-achiever."

Sebastian looks over at Morgana, "Same goes for you, friends. Its all good." What is he switzerland?

Andi Benton has posed:
Eyes flit back in Morgana's direction, not only from the words that are actually apologetic, but also the sight of the mewling cat. Just for a moment, the dour demeanor brightens, then Andi 'catches' herself and shuts it away again.

"Look, I..didn't mean to be that big of a bitch." Could be it's just a way for her to keep people at arm's length rather than letting anyone get closer. "No hard feelings?" She really doesn't need someone out to make her life hell before she's even sat in on her first class at the new school.

What Sebastian has to say doesn't fill her with a whole lot of confidence. "Juuuust perfect," she laments with a frown. Special students, the sort that are probably pulling 5.0 GPAs because they're not content with 4.0s and all the best schools want grades as high as possible...just, no. "But, yeah, sure, friends or whatever." Anything to placate them.

Abruptly, she's climbing out of the booth now that her receipt and change has been brought back, adding, "So I just remembered I have to go. I don't need my dad out looking for me because I wasn't home when I said I'd be." No mention of her mother, though? "Guess I'll see you in class soon." That is, if they're all in the same ones.

Morgan le Fay has posed:
Morgana watches Seb and Andi. "You're not the biggest bitch, that's the thing. You speak your mind. I respect that and I admire you for it" Morgana says with a smile that has a hint of warmth and yet cruelty in the same turn. "Just don't anger the wrong people is all" Morgana offers and finally, grudgingly, gives the kitten a sliver of bacon. "If we all have each other's backs, nobody can hurt us" she says and smiles, looking like she's up to something. "So how bad is it there bully wise? Do I need to keep my wits about me?" Morgana asks. She's genuinely unsure, and worried. Her mode of defense is simple. Kill. Somehow she doubts that'll fly in this place. There's problems like, well, laws

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters looks down at his empty cup and the crumbs on his plate. When did he eat it? It must have been somewhere between sitting down again and his 'lets be friends' speech. He shrugs, "Not much of it at all from what I saw. But I'm not exactly hitting the halls between bells just yet."

Sebastian stretches and starts scooting out of his booth, "Yeah I should run too. Hey least we all know who to go to if we need to barrow a book." he says gesturing at Morgana. "Anyway, nice meeting you both. I hope to catch you around campus if not in class. Maybe we should meet up here again sometime. It's been interesting to say the least." he says as he digs in his pocket for his phone which just pinged him. He rolls his eyes at the message. His parents want him to go to another Lex2020 event. He just hasnt got the heart to tell them he'd rather not.
