Date of Scene: 14 August 2020

Synopsis: Grilled foods and discussions were had
Cast of Characters: Dick Grayson, Mary Bromfield, Kian, Siobhan Smythe

Dick Grayson has posed:
It is the waning days of summer and so before it becomes too cold to enjoy the roof, why not take advantage of a quiet Friday night to grill out on the roof? The grill is filled with a variety of things: brats, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, mushrooms, and even a pizza is grilling over on another grill with the vegetables. This grill is being manned by Nightwing, who appears to be mildly relaxes at hte moment, with a bottle of water close at hand after sending out the memo to the Titans that the food should be ready soon.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
There's a crack of thunder in the sky, but thankfully it's not a coming storm, just Thunderbolt carrying in a large cooler on her shoulder. "Hey, Nightwing, brought the sodas. Regular and diet, plus water bottles too." She lands, setting down the cooler, "Hope I'm not too late." She smiles cheerfully, glancing around the roof as she pops open the cooler, taking a bottle of water out for herself.

Kian has posed:
Kían still approaches most Earth food with some trepidation.  I mean, you can't realiably tell what has bird in it from looking at it.  So more than once, it it's not obvious, he falls back on the fact that since his powers appeared, eating is optional rather than mandatory.
Pizza -- at least with vegetables and/or red meat -- is usually safe.
He does look up at the crack of thunder, doesn't note any inclement weather, and returns to his comfortable face-down sprawl on a deck chair.  "I do not thin' so," he says half-absently to Mary.  "He iss still cookin'.  And it iss startin' to smell really good.  Even the thin's I do not recog-nize."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Having been told to come up to the roof if she wants some grilled food, Siobhan doesn't seem to mind at all the invitation. She seems a little more peppy as she comes up to the roof and smiles upon seeing familiar faces, "Hey." She states to those she can see and grins over at the cook and peers at what he has on their, "What ya havin'?" She asks even as she approahces, "I 'ope dere's at least a bit o' sausage available, yeah?" She asks and tries to sneak as much of a peek as she can at anything still grilling before she notes Kian specifically and starts over to him, "Have ya had tings done on a grill before?" She asks of him, "I haven't known ya long but I know you're new around here so wonderin' how much experience ya got?"

Dick Grayson has posed:
Dick nods to Mary as she arrives, "Not late at all, just set them over there," he points with a burger flipper and happily goes back to work when he continues, "Yeah, everything seems to be going all right, though I will admit I have never grilled a pizza before." Nightwing waves to Siobhan and Kian on their arrival, "There are some brats and hotdogs still, Siobhan, but help yourselves, the ones in front are the most ready." Nightwing admittedly looks a little silly grilling in his costume with the addition of an apron.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins, "Grilling a pizza? I didn't think that would even be legal in Metropolis... that's some California thing I think." She nods over at Siobhan and Kian, giving them each a friendly nod as she sets the cooler over where Nightwing indicated.

That done, she grabs a plate, then takes a bratwurst from the grill as well as a bun. "Looking good, I have to say." She smiles again over at Nightwing, "One of these times I should bring my girlfriend, but I'm never sure how 'plus ones' work here." Since, well, security is a /thing/.

Kian has posed:
The birdman slides off the deck chair, and collects himself a plate, a couple grilled mushrooms, and a bottle of water.  "These smell good," he comments, "almos' like some-thin' from home.  Like meat, but grows from the groun'."
He takes a bit, appears to like it, and devours the rest of the mushroom with obvious appreciation.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A smile to Kian and she nods, "I'll take dat as a yes, den." She states simply enough and retrieves her own plate before getting over to the brats and looking them over, "If I ever get a shot, I'm gonna find a way to bring some proper sausage over to here for ya, fresh." She nods her head and puts a couple of brats on her plate before she gestures at Nightwing with a fork, "Dey are best when you get 'em right away and throw them directly on to a fire." She chuckles and nods her head, "Make your mout' water." She smiles and slices off a piece and takes a bite. She then glances over to Mary, "Girlfriend, eh? Anyone I might've 'eard of?"

Dick Grayson has posed:
"That's a good question, I'll have to ask the others on the guest policy." Nightwing nods to Mary, "But yeah, definitely saw it online and figured I'd give it a shot. Also it would not be Titans Tower without a pizza being served. It is the way." He gives a mock grim nod. "Pizza is almost a religion here in Metropolis, it seems." He chuckles and nods to Siobhan, "Well, the grill is usually open, but definitely bring some to the next cookout, no such thing as too much variety for food!"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt nods, "Definitely agree with that, and I... wouldn't think so. She's been pretty low key so far, she goes by Tarot." She grins cheerfully, "We've actually been able to do a few things together, like stopping Dire Wraiths, and that was pretty awesome."

She shrugs a little, "But it can be rough sometimes, when we both get busy with our own things... and I have a ton of other things going on too. My schedule can be pretty crazy."

Kian has posed:
Kían nods at Siobhan, devours another mushroom, and grins at Nightwing.  "I already haf a religion, but I am willin' to pay res-pecs to the Eart' religion of pit-sa," he says.  "An' from what I seen, pit-sa religion has many more gods than me."

Dick Grayson has posed:
"Neat name!" Dick says kindly, flipping a few burgers, though having to grab the tongs to deal with the brats and chicken, "Wait. Dire wraiths? That... yup, that is awesome!" He smiles and keeps working the grill, "And it's not an actual religion, Kian, it's a metaphor. People in Metropolis take pizza very seriously, as do people in St. Louis, the Quad Cities, Chicago, and New York. Each has their own different take on it."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt nods, "While in Philly we just worry about cheesesteaks." She grins cheerfully over at Nightwing, "Yeah, aliens that were trying to rewrite Earth into a new 'Wraithworld' or something. Teamed up with some folks and took care of the problem, was pretty nice. Honestly I just was looking for some quiet time with Tarot and... well, yeah, crazy stuff happens." She smirks a bit, "Personally, I'd prefer a night in watching movies and cuddling, but... well, duty calls, and all that."

Kian has posed:
"That is too bad.  I do not know much about Eart' religions, but one for pit-sa soun-ded like a good idea."  It's impossible to tell if Kían is joking or not.
The list of cities for the most part goes over his head.  He's still coming to terms with Metropolis, New York City, and Gotham.
He sits up, and peers at Dick.  "Why do hyu use Night-win' hwen you do not haf win's?" yhe asks without prelude.  "An' Robin does not haf win's... do not under-stan'."  He blinks once.  "If that iss a bad ques-tion, I am sorry."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A small laugh comes from Sio as she heard Kian's questions. She had been silent a minute to enjoy several bites of food. She looks at him with a shake of her head, "He has a fair point but then I don't tink many people's names make perfect sense." She gestures over toward the direction of Gotham, "I believe dey work with a man called Batman and last I read he is not a real bat." She nods her head, "And den dere's a guy called Green Lantern and while he wears one, I've never seen him swingin' on a ship lightin' da way."

Dick Grayson has posed:
"That is true, a good Philly is worth fighting over. Plenty of good places to get them," Nightwing nods. "Though good thing you guys succeeded as this Wraithworld is not exactly something I would want to see." He grins and is genuinely impressed, "But yeah, I don't see a problem if she comes around."

Dick looks to Kian, "It's a long story and has details that I do not feel comfortable bringing up right now." He frowns, and then sighs. "Though Siobhan is right, at times the names are what they are. Sometimes it's branding, other times it is just cool."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt glances over towards Nightwing, "Yeah, they were alien shapeshifters that would like, melt people and take their faces. Not very nice at all." She grimaces at that, but smiles when Nightwing says it's okay for Tarot to visit, "Thanks. I dunno if she'd want to join, but she's got some pretty cool powers. And I've got ideas on how to test them to see if she can do more..." What that is, she doesn't exactly say, as she looks over at Siobhan, "Well, not all of us are lucky enough to be able to toss thunderbolts around, you know."

Kian has posed:
"Ah, iss a bad ques-tion, I am sorry," Kían says, nodding once.  "It is still not making sense."  He shrugs, feathers rustle, and he gets up to reload on mushrooms and water.  "I still do not under-stan' usin' another name.  Iss some Eart' thin'.  An' Eart' iss weird."  That's said about the same way one might say 'the sky is blue' -- it's just assumed to be both true and obvious.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
"Well, I can say dat it is very weird but den again, I'm kinda part death." She shrugs, "Or close to it." She then looks over at Mary and Dick before looking back to Kian, "Try not to focus on it too hard." She shakes her head, "A lot of tings done on Eart' are done just cause dey are cool or sound good." She nods her head, "People around here need inspiration and such." She nods, "Seeing or hearing about someone named Supergirl flying off to save deh day makes people feel safe."

Dick Grayson has posed:
Nightwing winces at the wraiths, "Yeah, they are definitely rough to say the least. Glad you thumped them, then." He nods and says, "Well, good to have allies. Who does she normally run with besides you?"

Kian gets a shrug, "Mainly because if people who who some of us are under our masks, it creates far more problems for us, and create problems that could prove lethal." Siobhan gets a nod, "But you are right, sometimse the branding of it helps a lot and helps with the PR."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt hmms, "Well, she is a mutant, so..." Well, she leaves that unspoken, but it's pretty obvious at that point who she /would/ run with. She smiles a little, taking a burger for the second course as she nods, "I'm still getting pretty used to the secret identity thing, but... yeah, better safe than sorry that way."
