Let's Talk About Moose and Squirrel
Date of Scene: 20 August 2020
Location: Stately Pym Manor, Happy Hills Development, Creskill New Jersey. A large and somewhat cluttered Three story with a large garage and several large anthills arranged artfully.
Synopsis: After the incident with the Russian Consulate Jennifer rushes over to Hank and Nadia's place to keep them in the loop as to what is going on. Donuts were eaten.
Cast of Characters: Jennifer Walters, Nadia Pym-van Dyne, Hank Pym

Jennifer Walters has posed:
It's been maybe an hour since the Russian Consulate had visited the mansion when Jennifer is finally finished filing the reports on the incident, both with The Avengers and with SHIELD //and// she finally managed to finish her dossier on Reaktor. With a sigh, she decides that this news is better told face to face than, say, a text.

She quickly slips into more suitable clothing. Nothing more than jeans and a t-shirt she keeps stashed at the Mansion for the occasion when her regular attire is destroyed by some reckless villain. She sends a brief text to Hank, letting him know that she's coming over and has some news that he needs to hear. Then, she hops into her car, and braves New York traffic to get herself out to New Jersey.

It takes her the better part of an hour to get out to Hank's house, and she exits her car, gathering the two boxes of fresh Krispy Kreme donuts with her. Now that she's set, she rings the doorbell.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
At the Pym Residence there is cleaning happening, it's been a day of cleaning really. Something about if you're going to cook you can't leave the kitchen as a warzone, we don't have maid service like Janet's place.

Nadia is scrubbing the last of the chocolate smears off of the counter with a damp rag, "So Dad... I was thinking I could start my own public lab, you know invent things to help humanity, change the world with other geniuses my age that's cool right?" She ventures as she dunks the rag back in the sudzy bucket full of water and detergent and rings it out.

There never seems to be a good time to bring something like this up, so why not cleaning? What could go wrong during cleaning?

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym calls over his shoulder, "We will discuss this after you get that batter off the ceiling. How did you even... oh the door. Maybe it's evangelicals, They're always fun. Watch dad in action..." Hank answers the door wearing a shop apron with 'Kiss the Genius' silk screened on it. He has a bandana tied on his head and goggle and his lower face is obscured with a face mask. Heavy rubber gloves protect his hand as he hands a trash bag to a large ant following him. "Oh, hey Jennifer. Hang on a second. Now take that out to the dumpster. No eating it. The Home Owners' Association is already on my ass demanding I ant proof their trash receptacles. Like I'm really going to do that." The ant dutifully trots out.

"Good evening Jennifer, what brings you out here? Business or social?" The blue eyes have that intense look. This call is a little odd.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"Hank," Jennifer says, thrusting the boxes of donuts at him, "We need to have a talk about Naida." She pauses, suddenly realizing how that sounds and shakes her head. "No. She didn't do anything wrong (that I know of). Can I come in? You're going to want to be sitting down for this."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia is in the kitchen staring up at batter splattered across the ceiling perhaps trying to remember how she got it up there to begin with, it may have been that explosion when she was trying to directly bond the molecular structures of glucose and cacao at the atomic level for her chocolate. When she hears her name she blinks several times, "Is it the Lawyer Commander again?" she probably means Attourney General... probably. "Bobbi was supposed to talk to him..." She wanders towards the door in her father's wake.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym steps aside to let Jennifer enter (she needs plenty of room). The ant skitters away and around the corner. "Come in Jennifer," Hank says. He peers outside suspiciously for a moment, then shuts the door. As his daughter approaches, Hank backs into her and almost as a reflex takes her around the shoulders and goes to sit on the sofa. He gestures to an incredibly comfortable looking recliner. "Sit, Nadia. excuse me one more moment, Jennifer. You can put those tranquilizers down on the coffee table, thank you."

Hank pulls his head rag off, revealing a headset. He zones out for a few moments, then says, "All right, we can talk now. My little friends are watching and listening." He almost wishes Nadia did drink or drive recklessly or get into a fight at a club. He's been dreading this and expecting it.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer smiles and nods as she's let in, "Thank you." She takes her seat, arranges the donuts on the coffee table between them, opens up the box and pushes it suggestively towards Hank. "Sooo," she says, drawing out the word. "The Russians have finally come looking for Nadia."

Just rip that band-aid right off, Jennifer. "I got a visit from the Russian consulate earlier this evening." She waves a hand forestalling any interruption. "The Mansion's security systems ID'd him correctly, so there isn't anything obviously funny going on there. But this is Nadia we're talking about, and that facility she grew up in. Obvious just doesn't seem their MO so having a guy just walking up to the front door and asking 'Have you seen this girl?' has made me suspicious."

"I got his copy of the picture that they're using, and his business card, and I've got the Mansion's computers processing them." She checks Hank for his reaction and if it looks like he's about to blow his lid, she'll nudge the box of donuts a little bit closer.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Never one to refuse /donuts/ Nadia is already halfway through a Boston Cream by the time Jennifer has finished talking, the speed at which she devours junk food its like she's making up for lost time after years of tasteless Soviet gruel.

She doesn't seem terribly surprised by Jen's news, "It was really only a matter of time right? I mean I'm pretty careful but I never really expected they would just leave me alone." She sighs between bites of donut, "This seems like something they would do though, why go through a lot of effort with infiltration or exfiltration if they can make the legal system hand me over to them." She frowns like some pieces might be clicking together in her brain, "This explains how that General Attourney," she's never going to get that title right, "Found out about things it seems like he shouldn't know and was pressuring Dr. Morse about my case. He wants to put a hold on my citizenship case."

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym frowns slightly. That in itself is a bad sign, as Janet would likely tell anyone. When he yells he's just carrying on. When he's quiet, he is thinking. he replies and his voice is calm... almost like Doom's though without the overwhelming arrogance. "I see. thank you for your candor, and the Krispy Kremes. Well let me make this clear. I'm not talking to that succhim sinim. they killed my wife. they're thugs tried to abduct and torture me for my antiradiation treatments. Madame X tried to abduct me for them to dissect. I'm not talking to any Russians. I doubt they would try anything when we are in the mansion. If they try anything here... well I am not an Avenger here. I am Dr. Henry Pym, homeowner and father and... trespassers will be met with lethal force if they are any threat at all. That's my right. Nadia, you entertain Jennifer. I have some things to tend to." He gets up and bends over to kiss Jennifer's cheek in passing. He whispers, "Sorry... you really drew the short straw on this." He looks over to Nadia with what you could only call weaponized love and turns to leave.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer nods in agreement with Nadia. "I agree. They certainly seem to be attacking this from a legal angle. When they talked about Nadia, they were using her birth mother's name." She sighs, "International law isn't my specialty but they're claiming that 'Maria Trovaya is very worried about her safety.' It really doesn't take a huge leap to go from there to 'Father kidnapped daughter and is holding her here against her will.'"

She reaches out and grabs a donut for herself. "Hank. I know how protective of Nadia you are, but you need to play it cool. If handled wrongly this kind of thing could easily turn into an international incident that you won't be able to science your way out of.

She leans back and munches on her donut, and gives Nadia a sad, apologetic look. "I'm sorry you're stuck in the middle of this, kiddo. I need you to play it cool, too."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia's expression becomes uncertain at the mention of her mother, like she isn't quite sure how to react to that, "Wait.. but they said she's dead, how can that be?! Did they lie to me? They lie about everything... Could be she alive...?" It's a twisted sort of not wanting to hope expression that crosses her face, of course this probably exactly what Department X wants, to plant that seed of doubt.

She watches Hank storm off with a slightly wide eyed expression, "That can't be good. I hope he doesn't build another death ray." she doesn't sound like she's kidding. That conflicted expression is still written across her face though, the doubt, the wondering, the seed slowly taking root.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer heaves a big sigh. "So, really there's two different scenarios here. 1." she ticks off on a finger, "They lied to you about your mother being dead and they're using her to get to you." A second finger gets ticked, "Or two, she really is dead, in which case they've gotten somebody to, for all intents and purposes, //be// her."

She pops the rest of the donut in her mouth, licking the sticky frosting off her fingers. "Now, I'm sure they can manufacture as much documentation to prove that whoever they claim is your mother to be your mother. So legally speaking, both scenarios are functionally the same."

She chews thoughtfully, "I've got SHIELD on the case. If anybody can find out whether or not that's your real mom it'd be them. If they can //prove// that she's not your real mom, then, legally speaking, that makes this a lot easier to handle."

She stands up and walks over to Nadia to put a warm hand on her shoulder. "Hey. We've got the best of the best on this to figure it out. Nobody is going to let you go back to Russia." She looks over to where Hank stormed off and gives Nadia's shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Go after him. Make sure he isn't building an orbital laser that will incinerate the Russian embassy, or something." She gives Nadia a warm smile, "Worst comes, I'll just Hulk Smash, okay?"

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia finishes her donut and gets to her feet, "Yeah, I should." she shakes her head as if trying to banish thoughts of the mother she's only known in pictures but its not that easy. "Thanks Ms. Walters, I really appreciate everything you're doing. Don't worry, I outwitted the Red Room before, I can do it again." she attempts a smile before turning to go after Hank and hopefully put a stop to whatever Doomsday Device he is cooking up for the Russian Consulate.
