Synopsis: Beast and Cecily are joined by Green Arrow and Quiver in a car chase of attempted assassins
Cast of Characters: Vanessa Carlysle, Oliver Queen, Cecily Winters, Henry McCoy

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Arthur Black is well known in the legal community, a lawyer who has spent decades crusading in the courtroom for civil rights and good causes. He's been involved in everything from a number of mutant rights cases, to opposing the spread of organized crime into the government and businesses of Morningside Heights.

Tonight was an awards banquet in his honor, though it served primarily as a fundraiser for a legal defense fund. A few notables were in attendance, including Dr. Henry McCoy, well known mutant rights spokesperson.

The presence of Doctor McCoy proved invaluable, as the scent of gun oil moments before assassins opened fire allowed him to give warning, allowing the facility's hired security to pull Black down in time to save his life.

Now, the assassins have fled, piling into a pair of SUVs and tearing off down the night time streets of New York, heading for a bridge to get them off the island. The streets have a few other cars, but no deadlock to slow the fleeing vehicles. Pedestrians on the sidewalks stop and stare as the fleeing pair of vehicles zoom past at high speeds for city streets.

Oliver Queen has posed:
This isn't the kind of turf where Green Arrow and Quiver normally operate on. But following loose threads from previous drug dealings on Starling had led them to be here tonight ..., or in the vicinity at least. Oliver was driving an SUV while they were picking up signals from the radio scanner installed, his frown growing.

"We know they are up to something tonight but ..., where.." a small curse at the size of New York and him not being knowledgeable enough on this city to be able to get an informed deduction in.

But then it's like christmas on the police scanner. An assassination attempt, culprits on the run.. "This must be it." and Ollie steps on it. Pedal to the metal as the wheels screech and they start driving through the streets in an intercepting course towards the fleeing attackers.

He waits until Vanessa has changed to her outfit until he calls out. "Take the wheel, need to change." no hesitation, he fully expecting Vanessa to be able to take in on the driving.

Cecily Winters has posed:
Cecily usually doesn't like the events with stuffy dignitaries and rich jerks. But some lawyers do legitimate, honest work. And with the fox's blatant metahuman traits, she has a pony in this race as well, having taken the job without any real protest. The likelyhood of some kind of attack was high enough to warrant the extra bodies, and when the warning comes out, she's one of the first to shield Arthur with the rest of the ensemble. She's also one of the first to give chase when she's back on her feet when the assassins flee, handgun in one hand, StarkPhone in the other.

"Yes, it's Winters. Yes, again. Yeah, assassination attempt at the fundraiser. Number of perps unknown, moving fast, two SUV's... heading for the bridge.." she stuffs her gun back into her thigh holster and puts out the APB, heading for a nearby sedan that the security detail had rolled up in.

"Look, there's probably going to be shots fired and these guys tore out of here fast. Either get some patrols over here to divert traffic and keep the civlians out of the way or you're going to need to send paramedics instead," she grouses over the phone, fumbling with the keys and getting the engine roaring. "Yes, I'm in persuit, sedan, four doors, ATR-45U plate number..." she grunts and hangs up after she gives the information, free hand digging around under the seat to see if they'd left any more weapons.

Henry McCoy has posed:
It never fails. Ever. Get all dressed up, in a fancy suit, and all Hell breaks loose. As soon as Mr. Black was safe, the Beast sprung into action. Shoes were kicked off, being more of a hinderance than not in these scenarios. There's a growl of irritation as the first leap causes several seams to tear on his suit. "Damnit." Bounding down the hall after the would be murderers, Henry is giving chase. They had a headstart, however - the culprits making it to their SUV and tearing out into the road.

Fine. Fine.

The Beast was not giving up - racing down the streets, before leaping from truck to truck in a merry chase. Parkour where the obstacles were moving? Just another day in the life of Henry.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle has finished changing into her leathers, colored green like the name of the hero that she's accompanying. As Oliver motions her towards the wheel, she slides over atop him then letting him wriggle out from beneath and leaving her in possession of the steering wheel.

"So this is all it takes to let me drive... gunfire and fleeing bad guys," she teases in her normal voice before reaching up to turn on her voice modulator that will deepen her voice to something unrecognizable. In that deep voice she muses, "Wonder if I could just change my vocal chords to do this. Something to try later?"

Up ahead, a flash of two cars running a red light on the cross street is their first sign of the quarry. Quiver hits the breaks and turns the wheel to slide around the corner and then regain speed as they take off in pursuit of the fleeing cars.

There are four men in each car, and they are armed with pistols and submachine guns. One of them leans out of a window to look back, then says something inside the car, probably informing them that they are being followed. He reaches in again and his hand comes back with one of the submachine guns. He fires a wild volley of fire across the road at first, trying to discourage the two cars and... is that a blue man in a tuxedo on foot, chasing them?

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Yes, and yes." Oliver replies easily, "Besides my need to change." and he starts doing just that, slipping into the leathers of the Green Arrow and leaving the Oliver Queen persona behind. The comment about modulating her own voice makes him quirk a brow. "It sounds to me it'd be a natural thing after all you are able to do. But keep your eyes on the road now, Quiver!" not that he expects her to slack. She is at least as good as him driving afterall! Literally so!

He takes note of the various cars, the two fleeing, the sedan in pursuit and then uh ..., a Beast? He lowers the window and slides his torso out to look across, tapping the top of the SUV.

"Jump over!" he calls out. Nothing like giving your friendly blue tuxedo-dressed man a hand. Or a lift in this case.

To Vanessa he says. "Pistols and machine guns. Don't get *too* close. This SUV isn't bullet proof." his tone one of warning. But then he is getting his bow ready... He didn't need to be close to hit a moving target.

Cecily Winters has posed:
Cecily's not exactly a stunt driver, but she's handled a patrol car in her years on the force. The sedan she's driving isn't much different. But she's also one woman on her own, driving a car. At the least she's got point, even if there's.... well there's an SUV in her rear view sticking close and that's the good Doctor hoofing--pawing it on the side of the road. These nights just get more interesting. There's at least an SMG under the seat and a few extra magazines in the console. A small PDW, an MP5k. Not the best option for a car chase. She'd have to get close.

And close she does, revving the engine and making the car lurch forward, picking up the pace and slamming the bumper into the back of the first vehicle in front of her. Bullets pepper the hood and the windshield, causing her to ease off just a little, though it seems that the extra weight in the sedan is due to some level of bulletproofing. "At least the other hired hands came geared up..." she breathes out a sigh of relief, even if her ears are pinned to the top of her head now from the bullets peppering the glass.

Henry McCoy has posed:
A helping hand, even from a stranger, is worth noting. Beast nods to the offer, hopping over to land carefully on the top of the SUV. No need to damage the car with his mass1 "Would-be-Assassins." He shouts down for the bedecked heroes to hear. He points to the sedan that Cecily had giving pursit in. "Another ally." It's hard to hold a great deal of conversation with the wind buffeting your face!

The Beast crouches low, trying to help with the aerodynamics of the SUV throttling towards the evil-doers. "If you get close enough, I can stop their vehicle." Hank yells out. Assuming the tires aren't shot out, or what have you! He keeps low, avoiding the spray of bulletfire concentrated on the big blue Beast. No need to get bloodied up tonight! His eyes are narrow, focusing on the hunt at hand.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
"You got it," Vanessa replies about not getting too close. She watches as Green Arrow motions to the running X-man to hop onto the vehicle. She keeps a constant speed and course while Beast makes the leap, and gives him a little wave before pushing down on the accelerator again. Up ahead, the sedan hits the rear vehicle, drawing the gunfire from it!

Quiver pulls the SUV over into lanes on the left, having to work her way around a car, and then pulling up a little closer, giving Oliver a shot from behind and to the side of the two SUVs.

However it also means they are in a lane of oncoming traffic! She steers the car into another lane to avoid a car who lays on his horn as he sees them rush towards and past him. It draws the attention of a gunman in the front car. "Incoming fire!" she calls.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Mmmm, tricky shot. Or an impossible shot for a lesser man. But if Ollie has one superpower is that he never misses. He picks out one of his arrows, setting it on his compound bow and draws back. He isn't the kind of guy to take too long aiming too, having just waited for that right moment when they are shifting lanes, finding a small wedge between an oncoming car and the sedan where Cecily is...

..He lets the arrow fly, it zooming right past Cecily's left sideview mirror and hitting one of the men with machine guns. And one of his trick arrows too, electrifying the man and making him drop the weapon with a shout. "Arghhh..." he ducks back into the car, not yet out but .., close. And at least that guy isn't shooting anymore..

The others don't stop though so he ducks back in to dodge a salvo of bullets that pepper their poor SUV.

"May need to use that sedan as a shield." he calls out, noting the bulletproof on it.

"And our friend may hop through to the sedan and then to them." he says. Nerves of steel on him, but he is keeping an eye on that incoming traffic towards them! Good thing this isn't rush hour!

Cecily Winters has posed:
It's hard to really take the offensive when the windshield is getting hosed down with bullets, and the fox is also worried about one of the tires getting hit. Still, Cecily sees the sudden arrow sticking out of her new friend in front and that the assault on her vehicle has, for the moment abated. She winds down the driverside window and tosses a thumbs up towards the party behind her, even if she doesn't know what they're planning. If she did, she'd be more than happy to facilitate an easier run-up. For now, though, she gets close again, to smash the bumper of her sedan into the SUV's and push it to the side.

The group behind her will see her reach out the window with that PDW, holding down the trigger without any apparent issue with the recoil and unloading a hail of 9mm rounds into the rear doors and windows of the vehicle at a distance she's sure won't likely cause any (more) collateral damage.

Henry McCoy has posed:
It's a window, indeed. Hank spots it, just as the arrow sails through. His focus is a bit different, however - having no projectiles aside from himself. There's a deep breath, a steeling of nerves. The Beast launches himself forward from the speeding SUV, vaulting from the hood over to the sedan. A bit less than gentle in the landing, the trunk of the car is severely compressed as his paws land. "Sorry, Miss! Stop the others!" He calls down to the driver, before immediately bounding towards the enemy SUV leading the chase down the streets.

It's a power leap, not meant for a soft landing.

Five hundred pounds of Beast comes crashing down on the hood of the lead SUV, with enough force to snap the front axle. There's a roar as claws dig into the sheet metal of the vehicle, Henry scrabbling for a handhold as the SUV is disabled and comes to a very abrupt stop.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Quiver only waits for Oliver to get the shot off before she gives the car a swerve. A gentle swerve, at these speeds, but enough to get her over behind the sedan whose hood and windshield seem to be stopping the small caliber fire from the second SUV.

She watches as the blue furred, tuxedo-clad mutant launches himself from one car to another, and then towards the SUV. "That would be cool to do," she comments, but only briefly as she's focused on driving. She watches as the hand reaches out with the gun, peppering the fleeing vehicle ahead of Cecily with gun fire. "Now's your chance," she says.

Vanessa swings their car over into the lane to the right of the SUV that Cecily is engaged with, and she floors it. Their car surges ahead, pulling even with the assassin's vehicle while the occupants are largely ducked because of the sound of gunfire hitting their car. Though it does put Oliver's passenger side on the opposite side from the gunmen.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Are you going to start coveting powers every time you see another hero?" But there's an easy grin on the Arrow's face when he says that. And it's good to release that tension too. Because..., ONCOMING TRAFFIC.., with a swerve. But he holds on while they drive forward, getting closer and closer to the second car....

He picks up another arrow from his quiver, and now that he can actually see the inside of the vehicle he can aim it right close to the steering wheel. There's a small /WOOMP/ and then there is no more power in the car, cut off as it begins to slow down.

A look behind to wait for a pause between shots from Cecily and then he shouts back to Quiver. "I will return in a moment!" or two... He jumps over, no power claws for sure but he dives right in through the open window. "Hey guys..."

And then it's time start kicking and punching inside. Close quarters, the element of surprise.. Not much chance for the culprits as the car slows and slows..

Cecily Winters has posed:
Cecily is... very surprised when Beast slams down on the trunk, denting the metal and likely raising the front end up somewhat. Then the leap, and Cecily lead-footing it brings the front of the car down on the SUV's rear bumper. The vehicles are inseperable now! And all of that jostling made her drop her PDW and go both hands on the wheel. She works to keep control, holding the SUV in place but doing what she can to keep it from swerving into traffic or pedestrians.

Then the vehicle behind her swings by, holds even and... she can feel the deceleration as the SUV slows, power lost, and she lets off the gas as well. There's a long sigh and she hauls herself out of the window of her own vehicle now. Handgun pulled, she jumps from her roof, to the SUV, to join Beast at the vehicle he absolutely crushed with his awesome landing. Those fluffy white tails of hers draw the eye, floofing out as she leaps nimbly, more graceful but nowhere near as impressive as DOctor McCoy!

"FREEZE, guns down, or you'll have worse to deal with than bullets to the face!" she barks out, bringing her handgun up to aim it at the men inside of the leading vehicle, backing up the Beast while the pair of Arrow and Quiver handle the second one.

Henry McCoy has posed:
Kids, this is a lesson - always wear your seatbelts! The gunmen in the partly flattened SUV are tossed about inside, like some horrible turn in an unfriendly laundry drier. Bruised, battered and generally dazed - they fall out of the SUV, having dropped their guns in the crash. Just to be certain, and perhaps to vent a little steam, the SUV is lifted and smashed down again. A nod to Cecily, his words having a lot less in the way of eloquence. It's more of a growl, issued to the very disoriented criminals.

"Do as the lady says. Now."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Quiver watches as the Green Arrow jumps over into the other vehicle. "Always gets to have all of the fun," she grumbles good-naturedly as she pulls their own vehicle to a stop nearby. She climbs out, yelling to gawking pedestrians who didn't have the sense to run at the earlier sounds of gunfire, "Clear the area! Everyone, clear the area!"

The sounds of sirens can be heard in the distance, Cecily's call out to the boys in blue paying off as the police cars are finally catching up now they are all stopped. The streets in the distance are lit by the flashing red and blue light as they speed forward.

Quiver checks on Green Arrow's progress, seeing if he needs any help, but thinking it looks like it's covered. She keeps her expanding bow in place for the moment and moves to wave and flag down the police.

Oliver Queen has posed:
POW! SMASH! It's like they are back in the 60s with the smackdown going down inside their slowing SUV. But indeed it does stop..., a door opening as one of the culprits attempts to drag himself out of the car before Oliver pulls him back inside and to sleep... No running away on the job..

He climbs out of the SUV and noting the police approaching and Quiver moving in to exert her diplomacy upon them he turns his attention to the others. Both the foxy lady and the beast in blue.

A nod of his head is given when he approaches, his own bow now retracted as he holds it down on one hand.

"Good job." He calls out to the duo, his voice grave and ominous (That voice modulator does wonders!)

"I am Green Arrow." He introduces himself then points with his thumb to the other green-dressed vigilante. "That's Quiver. Good that you guys came in when you did."

Cecily Winters has posed:
Cecily keeps her pistol trained on the dazed men, unable to keep from casting a smile towards Beast as he calls her a 'lady.' The gun-toting fox might even be blushing just slightly. "Quite the show of force, Doctor," she compliments Henry, then glances towards Oliver as he approaches.

"We were at the banquet these guys hit. Their target is safe, if you're curious. Thanks for the assist, don't think we'd have halted them without more time and damage without the hand," she says gratefully, her tails waving slowly behind her.

"Winters. Cecily. Security consultant. I was on tonight's detail," she nods to the battered sedan. "I can pass you my card if you and your partner ever need an extra gun."

Henry McCoy has posed:
Still in the tatters of his tuxedo, Hank offers a bow to Cecily. "Least I could do." A wry grin, still eyeing the covered men. "Especiall against ruffians who wish to sow discord and chaos." A slight growl to that, the man motioning for the police to begin apprehending the hapless criminals. He looks towards the other SUV, and introduction from Green Arrow.

"Beast, in the crime-fighting parlance, or Doctor Henry McCoy if you'd prefer." A nod of his head. "Nice shooting and driving." He offers to those who rounded up the bad guys. "Well done, all."

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Good." Again that deep voice from Arrow while the hood turns from beast to Cecily and then back again. "We were aware of -something- going down tonight, we just hadn't figured exactly where it would be.." He rolls one of his shoulders with a sigh, clearly not getting any younger. "May have been more than discord than chaos. But for now they will be put away."

"Regardless, good to meet you both." He does approach to get one of Cecily's cards. "I never say no to having more contacts. Those willing to fight the good fight can consider me a friend." he even manages a brief smile.

As for the good doctor he hrms. "Dr. McCoy. I have heard of you. Good we are finally able to meet."

Cecily Winters has posed:
"The good doctor cuts an impressive figure. Should have seen him when his suit was intact," Cecily smiles gently. She lowers her gun as the officers arrive, putting it away in her thigh holster and taking a card out. She hands it to Green Arrow, it's a simple card. Black with a stylized fox head outlined and a local phone number, nothing else. "I do what I can to help out, I was a cop and I know my way around a gun, among other... powers..." she looks down at her tails and smiles. Then she glances over at one of the officers approaching and laughs softly, "Speaking of..."

A casual wave is given with her other hand as she calls out to one of the approaching men. "Hudson! Yeah, eight men, two cars. Mister Black is safe. I was on security with a bunch of others from a black tie team... don't think there was anyone else, and timely assistance managed to keep it from getting too out of hand... hope there's not too much collateral between here and the venue?" she asks, sounding apologetic.

A few words are exchanged, quickly, and she lets the officers get back to work tagging and dragging the criminals. "Always happy to see more masks about... means my job gets easier."

Henry McCoy has posed:
The Beast quirks a brow. "I don't disagree with your assessment, Green Arrow. I think it's a bit more ... personal to me at the moment." He looks to one of those being tagged and cuffed, a clear expression on his face. He wants to give them the buisiness - anti-mutant people are the worst in his mind for obvious reasons. Straightening his tie, out of habit really, he smiles again as he shakes off the want for violence.

"Thank you and your partner." Another nod to Green Arrow. "And you, Miss Winters. Pleasure to meet you, and thank you very much for your attention to this." A chuckle. "Hired or not, it is appreciated."
