Synopsis: Three years ago both Matthew and Skye were on the verge of changing their lives forever.
Cast of Characters: Daisy Johnson, Matthew Murdock

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Saint Agnes Orphanage. Three years ago..

That's a place she hadn't expected to visit again, never having been fully satisfied, or sated while there. Always looking for her origins, eyes in the past instead of in the now. And now that she is so close to discovering more about herself here she is again. Is this finally her moment? Rising Tide is ...., well.., on the Rise, and she knows SHIELD is aware of what her past is, full of secrets those are. But why return here just before that big hack ....?

It is with those thoughts, and more, that Daisy is currently settled under one of the large trees that frame the entrance to the orphanage, a sandwich on her hands and she chewing quietly. Dark jeans, a t-shirt with the letters 'The truth is out there', beanie hat and the sharp, more gothic accents to the makeup she used to wear back then.

She is watching a few kids nearby, they running about with that carefree optimism that she isn't quite sure she ever had.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
@emit Matt Murdock on the other hand visits his old home often, or rather the church next to it, to pray or to confess. Today it was a little of both. Praying for his new lawfirm of Nelson and Murdock and confessing to father Lantam in conflict with the rules of confession, about what he planned to do rather than what he had done.

Walking by the entrance to the orphanage, Matt stops, leaning on that white cane of his as he listens to the kids playing and lets himself be drawn back in time a little. To living here, to fights, to the handful of friends he'd let himself make? The woman under the tree seems vaguely familiar to her, she's changed a lot since they were kids, different heart rate, different smell, but some elements of her pinged familiar.

Matt on the other hand looks much the same, he's wearing a suit now, and of course he's got the cane and shades, but the expression on his face, and the little brusies there as well are familiar.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
There has always been that conflict inside her, seeking the truth, never satisfied. The hope that one day she will find family. And that's still very Skye. Though perhaps she is thinking she should had enjoyed her time here more. Simpler times...

There were still memories of here though and ..., is that someone familiar? Matthew was a few years older than her, but it doesn't mean she wouldn't recognize him. The face, posture. Yep. Definitelly Matthew. Or Matty in this case.

"Matty?" She calls out from her seat under the tree, sitting up straighter and quirking a brow up. She wasn't exactly the preaching type but the times she had gone off to pray or confess (often at the insistence of the teachers), she almost always saw Matthew there.

"Damn, you got fashionable in that suit...!" yes, definitely a certain Mary Sue.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
It's the voice that does it, reminders of one of those few friends he had growing up at Saint Agnes's. Matt's head turns, "Mary Sue?" he asks as the pieces click together in his brain. "What are you doing here?"

He knew it had never been her favourite place in the world. It was where she was sent when another placement didn't work out and they never seemed to work out. He turns fully patting at his suit. "Guess I got the right jacket with the right pants this time," a little joke about his blindness, though Matt never really seemed to get tripped up by his disability. "I'm sure you're looking just as good," he moves towards her feeling his way forward with his cane, a smile on his face.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Ufff.. There were reasons she had adopted the name Skye. Besides being cool as all hell, giving way to the infamous hacker that had tore through the cyber world to leave her mark it was also something of her own. One of the few things she could claim as hers. Besides her van which even if it was getting a bit old it could still do some sleek turns. Just those weird engine noises sometimes .... Ah, details! But being called Mary Sue brought her back to being a lot younger, in a way something she hadn't expected.

"I was asking myself just that. What am I doing here?" She gets up to her feet nimbly, dusting herself off and finishing her sandwich with a mighty chewing, "And let me tell you, being called Mary Sue was the last thing on my mind." though she does sound amused, continuing to stand by the tree and waiting for Matt to approach. At least to take advantage of the shade! "It's Skye now. Though I am serious, you look good. Finally became an hotshot lawyer?" then she can't help but chuckling when Matt says she must still look good. "I am looking better, of course. You will just have to take my word for it."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt was just glad he had his name before he came through St. Agnes's, he'd take Matt, Matty, or Matthew any day over the name they stuck Skye with: Mary Sue Poots.

Making it to the tree, Matt looks over towards the sound of Mary Su-, no, Skye's voice. "Skye," he repeats as if trying the name on for size, he grins, "Much better," he says as he lets his senses get a 'look' at her, she definitely looked good, he could tell by how one of the people walking past them on the street took a second look at her, but he could smell the van on her, definitely needed an oil change, and none of the other signs of a regular place to live. A little bit of worry colours his smile, he can't help it, meddling in the lives of his friends even old ones, is what he does.

There's a genuine grin though about his profession, "I'm not sure about 'hotshot'," he says. "But a lawyer, graduated just over a year ago, and me and a friend from school are starting up our own firm here in Hell's Kitchen," there's a hint of uncharacteristic nervousness in his tone. "Other than that, things are pretty normal," he lies, thinking about the gear he'd assembled back home to undertake his new night job. "How about you? Sorry I didn't try to reach out after I left."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"And at least it's -mine-." Skye replies, as if that was something that mattered to her. And in the end, it was. Something in her life that at least was hers, even if was as much a made-up name as Mary Sue Poots. Though indeed, it does seem like she hasn't done as well after leaving the orphanage. There was a time when they were still there that she began retreating more and more to her computers. And she was reallllyyy good. But she was never the type to go into the business world. Too much free will, not wanting to get shackled down.

"I am real glad to hear that. But you always had that .., will., that seemed to show you were gonna get what you wanted out of life." but she notes the nervousness, leans in and says in a lower tone. "Though don't let those other hotshots notice your nervousness. I hear they are all a bunch of sharks."

"I have been uh.., good, I guess." she shrugs, but clearly not being too truthful. "Between jobs. You know how it is, I could never settle down for too long anywhere.. But I think I am going to get a really big break soon." when she speaks this last part she is clearly nervous though. Whatever that big break is.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt could respect that, wanting something that was his, it was hard to find when you were an orphan and so what little you had or chose for yourself came with the intense desire to hold onto it. As for the computers thing, yeah, he didn't really see Skye punching a clock somewhere.

He grins at Skye's whisper, whispering back, "When'd you get so smart," before chuckling. "Mostly just worried about my friend, doing something reckless and stupid is fine when it's just me," like being a blind kid picking fights with bigger kids at the orphanage. "But dragging someone else along... That's what's got me nervous," then some of that same Matty confidence returns, "The sharks I can handle."

Matt listens, unconvinced, to Skye's story and nods, "Yeah, definitely know how it is," he says, before interjecting , "Wanna go grab a coffee or something?" before taking in the rest, "Big break huh? New app or something? Hear those are the way to hit the big time."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"It's my superpower..." Skye replies, tapping the side of her head, as if she was telling this big secret when Matthew asks when she became so smart. "Skye the Brain..., ok I need to work on a better name." But in truth she is the non-powered one here! But that relaxed demeanor is mostly all a ruse, the way she rubs the sweat off her hands over her jeans, or adjusts her beanie hat. Yet there's still one of Skye's smiles on her lips, she at least genuinely happy to have run across an old friend. "Coffee would sound great right now. Are you buying?" because she has her money very well counted now. Computer parts. Gas. Food. And perhaps with that priority! "And trust me, you will know when it comes out to the public. It will really turn a lot of heads." she saying it in a rather determined way, even if she doesn't seem to be talking of an app.

The mention of sharks does make Skye grin though. "I will keep that in mind if I need a lawyer in the future. Do old friends get discounts?" she asks, but then continues, "And your friend is most likely worried about you in the same manner if you show up with those bruises all the time. I never figured out how you could skip getting beat up by those big kids back then. Or well, more beat up."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt grins, "Yeah the name could use a little work," he jokes mildly as he nods about the coffee. "Know a good spot around the corner, c'mon," he says leading the way, and studying the signs of worry wofting off of Skye. "And yeah, I'm buying, I'm the hotshot lawyer remember."

That determination though, that's both familiar and worrying. He heard it in his own voice when he spoke of doing something about all the crime in Hell's Kitchen. He let's it pass for the moment, just long enough to laugh at her question about a discount and avoiding beatings as a kid, "That's my superpower," he jokes about avoiding the beatings, and then says, "For you? No charge. We St. Agnes kids need to stick together right?"

Then he steps in front of Skye and faces her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "You know you can talk to me right? I mean we haven't seen each other in ages, but if you're in any trouble, I'm here to listen, and help if I can. Seriously."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
When Matt mentions he's buying Skye slips her hands into the pockets of her jeans, starting to walk down the sidewalk alongside the blind lawyer. "Music to my ears." she tosses him a grin, or at least one that is noticeable in her tone, her eyes trailing towards the orphanage. Sure, there were still some good memories out of here afterall. Old friends.

When Matthew mentions having a superpower she glances back to him. "I know. I have always known you had powers." does she? She does say it with that kind of tone as if she knows more than she says. But then again Skye had always been one of those types that pried secrets out of everyone, using that nefarious computer of hers. Or at least those secrets that people were too dumb to place on the internet. So Matthew's was probably safe. Probably!

"Being way more nice to others than they deserve was one of them..--" But she pauses when Matthew turns to her and places one hand on her shoulder, making her blink once. "Like now..." though she knows how genuine he can be, and is. But dragging him into her trouble is something she wouldn't want to do. Still, she lets out a sigh. Perhaps she is just that selfish, or needs someone to talk to. "You know I have always been looking for my past..., I have come across something that's really big, involving big organizations. Government." and she most likely is digging through that rabbit hole fiercely, with little care for consequences.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Yeah, the time at the ophanage wasn't all bad, Skye was proof of that. He had very few people in his life that knew him back then.

Skye's observation though gets him to swallow hard, but he keeps walking even as his heart rate spikes. "You did?" he asks her frowning, trying to read her heartbeat to tell if he was being messed with or not. No signs, either she was really good or she was telling the truth...

Then she drops what she means, which brings up the third option, it was a harmless tease. He grins. "Guilty, don't have a name for myself yet," he teases back before Skye levels with him and Matt changes his destination from the coffee shop. "There's coffee at my place," he says. The office wasn't ready yet and he knew enough to not be having this talk on the street. "You got a dollar or something?" he asks her. "I think you need to be my client before we keep talking."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
It's a good thing that Skye doesn't really have any superpowers (yet), to notice that heartbeat rising or the way Matthew gets nervous with their talk. People with their secret powers! But she was getting close to them, with SHIELD, some serum they were after but most importantly the way she had found a redacted file with SHIELD pertaining to her. And from here it was only natural to infiltrate that organization. Easy. Or at least she hoped so. But she is a world-class hacker, right?

"The shark with a heart." Skye murmurs in suggestion of a name for him. Yes, she really needs to work on those. But it's indeed just good humored teasing. The mention of becoming a client makes her frown a touch though, even if she does produce a dollar out of a pocket (not that poor!).

"Look, I don't really want to get you into trouble if anything happens. And I am not going to stop. You know, when you have that conviction that you need to go down this path, no matter what it takes or else it will consume you." though she does continue to follow the blind lawyer.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Yeah, that'd be a dead giveaway if she had her powers. Thankfully for Matt he's the only powered person in his world, though that would change soon as well. The Defenders were out there he just hadn't met them yet. Or any of the powered goons Fisk and the Hand would send his way as well.

Matt laughs at the name. "Yeah, might need to pass on that one Skye with the Brain," he says before getting serious again.

He pockets the dollar and listening to Skye intently as they walked through the Hell's Kitchen streets. He keeps quiet until they've made it out of public where the expectation of privacy was nill, leading her to that brick walled loft of his that might throw his claims of not being a 'hotshot' into question. Who can afford a place like that in NYC?

Once there, he takes off his shades and rubs the bridge of his nose, "Yeah," he breathes, leading her out of the entry way and into the main part of the space. "I know that feeling," he says. "Like if you don't do it, you're not going to be able to live with yourself?" he asks her. He frowns, taking on that sort of risk for himself was one thing but to let a friend do it... It was a struggle. "What are you planning to do exactly?" he asks not comitting to not trying to stop her.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Next time I will make them rhyme." Skye quips about their 'hero' names, but once Matt gets serious she does the same, biting on her lower lip. What is she doing? It was normally very simple for her. Stay away from everyone, make no friends. It meant people wouldn't get hurt with her daring (foolish) attempts to know more about her past, the truth about her. But now here she was talking with an old friend about it. Made things get into perspective somewhat.

"This is your office...?" She is impressed, not that she has been in many lawyer offices (none), but it looks like a good place. She even reaches up to take out her beanie hat before brushing fingers through her hair. "Nelson and Murdock.." she echoes the name on the plaque outside.

When Matt starts getting into the matter at hand she turns her attention to him, swallowing. "Yes, exactly like that." and then she is silent for a good while, perhaps pondering whether to tell him or not. But then she decides to take the dive. "I am going to infiltrate SHIELD."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt chuckles, "Might help," he says of the nicknames.

He gives her space after that, nodding about the office, "Yeah, or will be once we get some clients," he says. "I'm told it looks a bit beat up but it's home."

"Want me to get us coffee? Foggy and I set up the machine so I know where everything is," he says, using that chance to give her a bit of physical space as well as emotional to let her tell her story.

When she does though it stops Matt cold. "SHIELD?" he asks coffee forgotten as his mind runs through all the laws that would break both US and international. He closes the distance between them so their voices don't carry. "What did you find out?" he asks her, Skye wasn't stupid, if she felt her search meant she had to infiltrate SHIELD there had to be a reason.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Wait, I am one of your first clients...?" That would make Skye laugh if the matter wasn't so serious, but she nods at the offer of a coffee. It gives her time to think too. And then she drops off that bomb. Because why wait? She ain't the type to beat around the bush. She folds her arms together in a very noticeable defensive manner, "I found a file." she begins, frowning faintly as it all pours out. "A file about me, from SHIELD. It was mostly redacted but it was about me. The dates match, some of the foster families as well."

She paces away from Matthew, steps bringing her to the coffee machine and she begins preparing them some coffee instead. "Including they placing me at Saint Agnes." talking about it did make things click, perhaps one of the reasons she had come back to Saint Agnes today. "I need to know why." again that determination on her tone.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt nods, "Yeah," he confirms about her being one of his first clients. Definitely a memorable one even so.

"SHIELD had a file on you, from when you were a kid?" he asks her frowning. "Why would the-" and that was the question. "Sorry."

"We could try a request under the freedom of information act, see if there's more documents, it won't be quick but it will be legal." SHIELD would fight tooth and nail to keep its secrets, and event then files classified high enough were just not obtainable. Still he had to pitch the sane options before he could embrace the insane.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Right?!" Skye gestures with her hands when Matt stops himself from asking why they would do such a thing. It's clear she is very curious, the questions she has been asking all her life, the ones that have made her feel so upset with how her life was to this point. Never one to settle with what was given to her. "I am going to find out everything.." she finishes readying the coffee cups, bringing them over to the table. The one for Matt she offers directly to his fingers. "Here. Your coffee."

"I ..., didn't exactly use legal means to come across that file. And it was classified. They would never let that info come out." she shakes her head, as if she had given it thought already, walking back to her own coffee.

"But the plan is solid. I am the best hacker they could have working for them." Well, at least she is confident in her own abilities.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt had to admit if he was in Skye's shoes he'd want to know why SHIELD had taken such an interest in her and seen her moved around the system in some sort of shell game. "Have you had yourself tested for the X-Gene?" he asks her. That was his first thought, powers. Dangerous mutants. That's the sort of thing SHIELD was neck deep in. The other side of it was it was her parents, either being dangerous or important? he frowns, the more he tries to unravel this the more complicated it gets. "I know some reliable clinics if you want to do it, scrub their records after each test." He knows, he'd gone there himself once to see if his powers had been a mutant ability unlocked by the trauma of the accident. According to the test, they weren't.

As for legal methods, "Right. So that we even know there's a document to request is evidence of federal offense," he sighs, feeling for his coffee and taking it with a nod of thanks. "So, what you're signing up for their IT department or something?" he ask Skye about how she planned to get inside the belly of the beast.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"The X-gene?" That's the first time that Skye thinks about that. It makes her frown. She's just been Skye, the hacker, or Skye the Brain if we go by imaginary hero nicknames. "I haven't really gone through that possibility. Though I have been .., normal.., all my life. Don't those manifest earlier?" she asks. In truth her knowledge of mutants and powers is low. It might be a possibility, but then again she needs to get her plan moving soon before the window of opportunity closes in...

The question on what she is aiming to do makes her step closer to her own coffee, picking it up and blowing on the top to cool it a bit. "Working my way up their IT department would take too long, and they only take people with university experience through their traditional means." she explains in a way that she most likely considered that in the past. She then adds in a direct manner. "I am going to hack into SHIELD, and leave some breadcrumbs so they capture me." because that sounds a lot better! "I have information on cases they are working on so I am hoping my use to them outweighs arresting me."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Yeah, usually in your teens," Matt says of developing powers. He was quite the 'internet expert' on the subject, even checking out books by Charles Xavier and Hank McCoy. "Just thinking of reasons why they'd do what they did and powers were one of the first things that came to mind. Though plenty of mutants in the world and the government usually doesn't relocate them until there's been a crime."

That likely meant it was a family connection, but Matt doesn't mention it, a tough subject for orphans.

When Skye lays out her plan, Matt swears, "That's got to be some serious information then," he says. "Because that's a hell of a gamble," he makes his way over to the desk set up in the middle of the room feeling for the box of newly printed business cards, finding one and holding it out for Skye. "Take this, I doubt they'll give you a chance to call anyone, but if they do, call me if they choose the Vault option over recruitment."

He pauses and then asks, "Are you sure I can't talk you out of this? I know this must be eating you, but, what we're talking about is as likely to get you locked in a box for the rest of your life as get you what you're looking for."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
The swearing makes Daisy turn her head mid-conversation to Matt. She hadn't heard him swear before! She finishes her sipping from her coffee, her brows arched up. "I will take that as a sign that I am deep down the rabbit hole. But things are already in motion. I am not going to step back now that I am so close." her tone of someone that after being so long committed to that search she can't afford to back down anymore.

She takes the card though, nodding lightly and the beating of her heart slowing down a touch, perhaps finding comfort that an old friend still has some care for her. She manages a smile. "Thank you." she says in that genuine manner of hers, tucking the card away quietly.

"I have thought about this a lot and in the end..., what's the point of continuing to live like this without knowing the truth, who I am or why this happened to me? I got to a point that I just need to take that plunge, you know. Not be afraid and just ..., be daring instead. I am not going to settle with a life in the dark."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt stifles a grin to the reaction to him swearing. "Sorry, I'm sure Sister Maggie would be boxing my ears right about now."

"I get it," Matt says with difficulty, "It was like that with this place, a thing in my head, I couldn't let go of, I had things set, job at an uptown firm, potential to make partner, but then I'd come home and night after night I could just hear the suffering going on around me, and I couldn't let it go," he offers a little smile. "I had to do something, even if it was stupid and reckless and is likely to get me into a lot of trouble." It's hard for even Matt to tell if he's talking about the job or his /other job/ now.

He sighs, turning towards Skye. "Worth it in the end right? Or at least, that's the hope."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Ah, Sister Maggie... She suffered in her hands too and it shows with the grimace she makes and the sigh that escapes her lips. But she eventually chuckles lightly, even if there is little mirth to it. "I should had listened to her more..." her eyes turn to the window again, watching the construction going on outside. Great view ..., but at least it's distracting.

"You see your path ahead of you and know it is what you got to do. No matter how much it will hurt in the end. And I am not going to let them continue with the lies." she says in agreement. "It's like I am out of sync, living a lie. We need to be true to ourselves."

But the way Matthew speaks makes her turn her eyes back to him, roaming his figure up and down and her brows knitting together.

"You speak as if you are talking about something more than just the lawfirm, Matty. What is going on?"

She turns to face him now, worry in her posture. She's always been the type to worry about her friends, even if they were very, very few. It just made them more precious to her.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"She'd probably be glad to hear that," Matt says of Sister Maggie, his relationship with the nun had been complicated too. Fearing her wrath and at the same time valuing the advice she'd given over the years. "Probably just did," he says playing off the old joke that she could hear anytime one of them swore or spoke her name. Just live Voldemort.

Matt sits on the corner of the office's reception desk as Skye wanders, nodding as he listens to Skye's words. "I can understand that, not knowing who you are, and wanting all the pieces to fit."

He can sense Skye's worry, feel it in her heart rate and the smell of cortisol, still his instincts towards secrecy run deep. "Hmm, what makes you say that?" same old Matty, answering questions with questions.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You seem to understand it better than I was expecting ..." Skye has always been one of those with a keen nose for secrets. She has been digging for them all her life so now she is fully turned to Matty, arms wrapped about her waist, one foot tucked back against the wall, "Doing your own search for who you are as well.." she had heard rumors back in school about Matt's past, but she never dug too deeply.

Yet at that last question and the 'what makes you say that', she lifts both her brows. "Because you had that determination in you when you were talking that I have rarely seen. Other than when I am listening to myself talk. Not that I do that often because it would be weird but ...." she trails off a bit and cranes her neck forward. "And I just spilled my guts about SHIELD too.."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt nods, "I've looked into my mother, always came up a dead-end," he says confirming his search. "But I've mostly given up, it's been twenty-five years, with only my birth certificate and a few of my dad's friend's stories to show for it." He shrugs. "But I get why you keep going, I had my dad, and I think he filled the void that would have been there without them both all my life." Of course he also had Stick.

Skye pressing him is met with quiet consideration. The last person he told about his powers was Elektra. Everyone else he kept beyond a wall of secrecy, at first because he was scared, then because Stick had told them that they would just try to study him, then finally because he was about to use those powers to wage war on crime and the secret kept everyone he knew safe.

Though Skye's secret was just as dangerous, but then if SHIELD caught her, would she give him up? Willingly, no, but then this was SHIELD...

In the end he does the uncomforable thing, he trusts.

Dropping the act, standing a little straighter, more confident of his surroundings he points to his eyes, "The accident that did this, also gave me powers. I'm planning on using them to try to help Hell's Kitchen," by the determination in his voice he doesn't mean picking up litter and walking old ladies across the street.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Yea..." There's a moment that Skye appears to be uncomfortable, as if it might seem they could be comparing on who had it worse. But she knew each of them had to deal with their own demons in their own way, even if in similar manners. "I can try help you about your family once I am in SHIELD, they have access to a lot." and she does appear confident that she will be able to go through with her foolhardy plan. Such a ..., daredevil!

That shift on Matty is noticeable though, the way that he stands up straighter and the change on his tone when he decides to trust her. It does come as a surprise. Matthew always seemed more able than his limitation. Or rather, not as debilitated. But having powers is something completely new. "Like.., one of those heroes?" she blinks a couple of times, watching him more closely.

"And you are serious, I know you are." a pause and then her lips spread into a wide grin. "You have chosen your path now, I am glad."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt senses that discomfort and shakes his head, "I'm not playing the who had it worse game, trust me, a person can drown in an inch of trouble or the sea, they're just as equally drowned." Though when she offers her help he nods. "Thanks."

Smiling Matt nods, "It's weird to think of it like that, but yeah, one of those heroes," he says. "Don't have a name yet, and my costume is mostly just a mask and some tatical gear, but beyond the powers, I've got training, that's another reason why I didn't get hit so much in the orphanage, actually the times I got hit it was because I was trying to sell the whole blind thing." A little of the old Matty shows through there with that proud little grin about that fact.

Really he didn't share this part of himself so once he flood gates are open he keeps on. "I really can't see, but I've got other senses. I can tell you're about," he cocks his head. "Six feet give or take in front of me, you're five six or five seven and around 125, you're living out of your van, which needs an oil change by the way, you live mostly on cheap take out, and you last did your laundry at the laundromat two streets down," he taps his nose. "I recognize the detergent they sell there," when he's done he smirks a little.

Yep, same old Matty. Always showing off.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"No, I meant me. Felt like I was doing it, comparing and ---" But hey, Skye didn't mention it, she was -thinking- it but ... "Wait, how did you know.." then she snaps her fingers, "Powers.." and it all becomes clearer when he goes into detail about her life..., and her van. She folds her lips together and what she takes out of all that is. "I am not one pound over 120." hey, some things just need to be said.

"Show off." Because Skye was never afraid to say things as they were either. But she does let out a soft laugh. "Always knew you were something special. That sort of beats what I was expecting though.., by like, a lot. And it does explain some of the bruising." she approaches Matty, gesturing at his face.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Sorry just the way you felt and what you were talking about?" Matt explains his guess at what she'd been thinking about. "Guess I got it backwards."

Matt smiles about the weight thing, "My senses aren't perfect," he allows easily.

Sensing Skye approach, he nods, letting her know he knew she was there and she could come forward if she wished.

"Well always figured you were something special too, but I didn't expect you to be infiltrating a spy agency," he jokes lightly as he sets aside his cane, glad to be able to put aside the act for a moment and just be himself with someone. "Guess it's a day for surprises," he says.

As for the bruises, he nods, "Test run, heard a guy mugging someone outside my building when I was working on my gear," a beat. "He was a little bigger than I thought. I got my training before I went to the orphanage, and hadn't really used it much since then outside of practice. It's a work in progress," he says with a self-deprecating smile turning his head. "They're not too obvious? I can tell how bad they are but I have no clue what I look like still, or you for that matter, beyond the basics."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Just being a computer wizard doesn't make me that special." Skye says, shaking her head briefly to herself but continues her approach. She is closer now, watching Matty's face, one side, then the other. There is clear curiosity there. She has never met someone with powers before. "But I will trust your better senses that you can see something more in me." her tone is somewhat joking, but it's not something she does often, trusting others, or receiving a compliment that seems void of second intentions. People trying to take advantage.

Her hand can be noticed moving up, tentatively approaching those bruises and if Matty doesn't stop her she will rest her fingertips on them briefly. "You will need to get faster." she says in that obvious 'hey, try to not get hurt' tone, "But they aren't -too- bad. Can you feel them through my fingers?" she asks, canting her head to the side.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Nah, that was just getting to know you," Matt says of Skye being something special. "I only had so many friends at that place and you were one of them, that automatically makes you special in my book. Besides, you're willing to risk all for something you believe, that's rare Skye, seriously," he says slipping into that determined tone. "So much pain and suffering gets ignored out there, people's own, or pain that belongs to others and people just take it, but you're doing something about it." Matt breaks into a smile. "What you're doing might not be smart, but you're doing something. So, like I said, special, you're one of the people who give a shit."

Matt allows the touch, without flinching, listening to Skye's assessment with a grin, "Working on the faster thing," he says. "And can't feel them through you, but if I was any good at drawing I could probably sketch your fingerprints right now," he says, a mild exageration of his abilities, but only slightly.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Believe me, it's the smartest thing to do from all the possibilities I went through.." Which ..., might make someone think on what other dreadful ideas she had on how to get her files out of SHIELD. But the way Matthew speaks, and what he says seem to touch the young woman, a warmth to both her touch and demeanor, fingertips continue to trail across his face.

"You will just have to take my word for it then. You will go back to looking fine. I mean, more than you are now." Then a soft chuckle leaving her lips but her demeanor getting more serious after a bit.

"You know, I may be getting arrested tomorrow, or worse. But talking with you about this, opening up. It makes me feel that I am on the right path. The same way that I feel you are on yours." there is a genuine tone to the woman now, one that she has barely developped now in this life of hers that has been mostly deceit up to this point. One that will only further be developped in a few years.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The way Skye says that, Matt believes her, he knew her and how through she could be when she got determined, like how the she'd aced every test in Sister Sarah's math class, one year because the year before, the sister had in exasperation, called it 'waste of time' to teach her. And that was just pride, this was more, this was her life in more ways than one. "I believe you," he says, which is why he's not trying to talk her out of it anymore.

"Will do," he says of the injuries, before settling back and letting her speak, and smiling as she does. "Yeah, me too," he says. "I talked to Father Lantam before we ran into each other, gave him this big speech about asking forgiveness for what I was about to do, hoping it'd clear my head, but it didn't not really, I still had doubts, guess I didn't need a priest," he says with a smile. "I needed a friend."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Those Sisters never believed in the power of the Internet like she did, but in truth she had quite the brain in that head. More than she often gave herself credit for. "Thank you." having someone that actually believes her truly, and not just her homies from Rising Tide that are mostly interested in plucking out secrets instead of her welfare makes Skye grin. She watches the lawyer-turned-hero for a few moments of silence, some hesitation and then her fingertips leave his face.

"You know I have never been too much about going to church, and confessing to father Lantam..." she grimaces. She remembered still. It turned awkward sometimes, all the stuff she did in school, being a rebellious young woman that truly didn't seem to have a spot anywhere. But well, at least he did listen to her. Maybe she should go back one day... Not today though, nor tomorrow. She will be busy then.

"And you can count on me." then she introducing the little jest. "And it won't even cost you a dollar like it costed me." though she is clearly joking about the dollar Matty asked her about. She then smiles. "You know, you can touch my face if you want. To see how I look."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Catching the hesitation, Matt turns Skye's way, "What's up?" he asks her gently.

Though the bit about father Lantam has him smiling, "Yeah, that was always more my thing," he says "I know sounds boring but he's really a good guy."

He snorts a laugh as she jokes about the dollar. "That dollar buys a lot of constitutional protection," he jokes lightly.

When Skye offers him her face to examine, he gives a gentle nod, feeling his own pace pick up a little as he steps over to her, going slowly, unsure he'd heard what he'd heard in her voice when she asked him to touch her. He gently lifts his fingertips to her face and carefully drinks in Skye's features, brows, eyes, ears, nose, then finally her lips, those he runs his thumb across gently before tilting her head up to him, "Beautiful," he declares, then trusting he read her voice correcttly, he leans in to kiss her.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"See, it's capitalism at work. Buying protection with money." But Skye appears to be joking..., mostly.., Rising Tide can be somewhat anarchist. Not that she follows those ways too closely. Instead she gets closer to Matt, her head canting a little to the side as she lets him explore the lines of her face. Lips part a little when that brush of a finger goes across them, chest heaving a touch faster. They are both on the verge of taking that next step on their lives, the one that might define them years from now, the one that will set them on their path.

It is something that Skye appears to sense, the connection, those fates that hang in the balance. Her head turns up at his request, at that simple word 'beautiful'.

Her arms come up to hook around Matt's neck and their lips meet in a kiss, soft and giving but also with that urgency that tomorrow it may be too late. That they will be too changed or unable to go back to today.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Foggy always said that Matt had an unnatural sense of when a girl was beautiful or not, and also, trouble. In this case he was right both times, he'd had an idea of whay Skye looked like before he'd touched her face, but the touch helped cement the image provided context a shape to pin those smiles implied by her body language and visceral reactions. So, when he told her she was beautiful, it wasn't a line, it was true. There were few people he kept as complete a picture of in his mind.

The kiss deepened the image given by the touch, the tang of urgency in it, something he felt himself to the bone.

He smiles, as they part lips, running his hand along one side of his head. "Well, um, I'm guessing I'm going to have to give you your dollar back," New York law forbid lawyers and clients from, well, kissing for one thing. "Conflict of interest," he tells her with a bit of an amused grin. He was definitely a lawyer. "Still not going to tell anyone, and second, and I'm hoping I'm not overstepping, but I'm told my place is more comfortable than a van," he says knowing full well he wasn't overstepping, as he stays close to Skye, grinning down warmly at her. "We could find out."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Skye holds herself there against Matt, her arms squeezing him gently and with that sense of being in the right place, at the right time. At least for once in her life. Whatever the future held .., she truly did not know. But she seemed willing to find out. When she opens her eyes after the kiss she is looking directly up at his face, a brief bite on her lower lip, her heart beating faster. The temptation on her mind and clearly the push of her recklessness making her take that further step. One that Matt knows too well she'd take. "What about my constitutional rights?" she questions, though doesn't really expect an answer.

And then the nod comes, one that seems to confirm all she feels now. The living for the moment, for the now. "That's because you have never seen my van." actually, she hopes he never does. She isn't too proud of the old VW van... "But I am willing to find out." she leans in again, resting her forehead against Matt's shoulder, a re-assurance of her own want, to feel and have a connection with him.
