Good Evening Mr. and Mrs. America and All the Ships At Sea
Date of Scene: 26 August 2020
Location: Flatiron District
Synopsis: A stern receptionist rules over her waiting room, resulting in Vanessa having a chance to meet Thor.
Cast of Characters: Thor, Vanessa Carlysle

Thor has posed:
On the upper floors of the Flatiron Building is where the WonCom media outlet has some of their offices and their studios. It's a high profile area of Manhattan for a high profile company, and it's where ninety percent of their work flows through in some form or another. Yet even with their rather large profit from quarter to quarter, their corporate culture tries to keep it light and humorous. Easy-going. Since really you can't have it otherwise when you play host to Tucker and the Monkey's morning show each weekday.
On the speakers in the waiting room the voice of the broadcast comes through even over the slight buzz and hum of the offices and cubicles nearby as a normal work day is conducted.
<< G'morning you got the Tucker here. And the Moooonkey. >>
Some monkey noises that assuredly the people here are not tired of hearing.
<< We have good news people, good news. One of the Avengers are going to be in the studio with us in the next hour. As to when we'll let you know. You know how their schedules can be. Right now we've got Hillary Zane with her break out hit, 'I Am Gonna Gonna!' >>
Which then goes a little quieter as the music comes on for some reason as the office manager in that waiting room looks up only to see the tall blond man standing there. A man whom she does not recognize, or else has an amazing poker face.
    "Yes, may I help you?"
    "Greetings."
    "Your business?"
"I am to speak with Mr. Tucker."
    "Name, mister..."
    "Ah, Odinson."
"Great, Mr. Odensen. Have a seat? They'll call for you."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The elevator chimes and the doors slide apart. A young woman with brunette hair, wearing a purple top and jeans with black boots, steps out onto the floor. She pauses in the hallway to look at a directory of the floor, one hand lifting slightly as if tracing down the list looking for her destination.

Apparently she finds it, as Vanessa Carlysle turns away from the directory to note the room numbers. She proceeds over to the door to the waiting room. The sounds of the station can be heard even out in the hallway. Apparently they must take up quite a bit of the floor.

She swings the door open and steps inside, carrying a small box under one arm, a little smaller than a shoe box in each dimension. Vanessa's step slows as she sees the blond man standing over at the desk. Her eyes open a little wider as she does seem to recognize the man. And seeing him there is quite the surprise for her, enough that she just stops.

Thor has posed:
She's there to catch the tail end of the conversation as the Office Manager seems to go back to her terminal, letting her fingers rattle a rhythm across the keyboard even as the tall blond man in the blue Izod t-shirt stands there, his hands resting on his hips looking... confused.
The typing goes on for a few seconds longer then he lifts his voice, and indeed it is him. She can hear the accent, the broad vowels, the romance language pacing to his words. "I believe there may be some error. I was to be on some show in the..."
Which is cut off by the woman who looks up and then says in a nasally tone of voice, "Please, have a seat, sir." And she points once again.
Which is enough to send the Thunderer on his way to one of those chairs nearby, eyebrows raised and looking a bit surprised but at ease with it.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa's eyebrows go up just slightly as she hears the exchange. Her sloe eyes go to Thor briefly, her expression best summed up by, 'what can you do?' Vanessa moves over to the desk then, the woman behind it typing a few more lines before looking up.

"I've brought a package to drop off for April O'Neil. She's appearing on one of the shows here," Vanessa says, holding the package up slightly to reference it.

The woman glances at it and says, "Let me see if I can find her." She goes back to her computer, typing for a few seconds. Then stops and looks at Vanessa again. "You can have a seat in the meantime."

Vanessa gives a slow nod that goes unseen as the woman is back on her computer again. The brunette moves over to take a seat with one between herself and Thor. She glances over to the tall blond man. "Appearing on a show?" she asks.

Thor has posed:
The smile that's given back to Vanessa is a warm friendly thing, it reaches his eyes even as he settles down upon the seat there in the waiting room, crossing the legs of his jeans, one foot resting upon his knee as he looks around at his surroundings. For a time he even casually pushes around some of the magazines on the top of an end table near him. None catch his attention.
Then Vanessa is moving back across the room and takes a seat nearby. Near enough for the tall man to tilt his head and give a polite smile and nod even as he settles further into his seat. A glance is spared or the woman at the desk before his attention is captured by Vanessa's handful of words.
"Mmm? I believe so." He says, brow beetling as he considers. "I have not participated in a show upon the radio waves. It shall be a first." Though he's likely been on the radio before, perhaps just not known of it.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The difference in the man's speech is noticeable enough that it makes Vanessa smile slightly. "Is there a particular cause that you're here to advocate for?" she asks. "Charity event or something like that you're doing advertising for?" she inquires.

The woman behind the desk glances up, just a slight frown. As if they did take the seats as told, but they are talking. There was no mention of talking allowed! She goes back to her computer, Vanessa fixing the woman with an exasperated stare when she's not looking.

She glances back over to Thor. "My friend's a reporter. Not with this company, but she's... ah, actually I'm not sure what she's doing here. Being interviewed maybe? She gets involved in all kind of stories. Investigative reporter," she says.

Thor has posed:
"Indeed." Is the man's answer as he seems to settle in for the wait. There are a few others in the waiting room, and to be fair Vanessa is getting a few smiles from them, amused at the conversation she's holding with the Thunder God who perhaps might think he is incognito. But it may be doubtful as he murmurs, "I am speaking for..."
"It is for soldiers of the past, warriors true." From out of that pocket on his knit t-shirt he produces a small slip of paper that he considers, reads, and then says. "Veterans of Foreign Wars."
That said he nods once and then repockets it. "My comrade spoke well of them and it is on his behalf I am here today. I cannot vouch for their heroism first hand but if they are aught like him then they carry with them the courage of the mighty." Those words are so eloquent in some ways, yet they come from him almost instantly, no hesitation in composure simply presented forth with a fluent ease.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa sits straight in her chair, with a rather elegant poise and bearing that surprise many who know where she's from and where she's lived. It might seem more a familiar mien to the Asgardian than to those she's spent the last half of her life around.

"That sounds like a very good cause," Vanessa agrees after hearing Thor's description. "Good of you to take the time to promote it," she tells him.

She crosses one denim-clad leg over the other, boots visible at the bottom of the jeans. She leans just a little closer so she can lower her voice and whisper whilst looking at the receptionist. "She seems to run a very particularly tight ship." She sits up straighter again then and says, "I don't know if people take the time to tell you this much. But thank you for what you do for us. I... I've seen what people who help others are put through for their efforts. And, well, you make a big difference. Ah, Mr. Odinson."

Thor has posed:
There's a bob of his head in agreement with her words even as he smiles a little sidelong at her. To be fair Thor does have a fair amount of time when he is not working with the Avengers. He has no job that needs caring for, and threats that require his action are few and far between. He doesn't patrol to fight against crime, though he sometimes does wander about and lends a hand when he sees something untoward.
But that still leaves a good bit of time open which has him seeking matters to focus on. And thus enter his friends who help to aim him sometimes. But it's all worthwhile as he enjoys meeting and chatting with the public, so she'll see the genuine warmth in his eyes when she offers those first few words to him.
Then she directs his attention to the office manager and he smiles a little, "I would not begrudge her doing so. Is likely what makes her sought after in her role. That strength of conviction." Which might be a charitable way to observe it.
But then she leans closer a touch and sits up straighter to give her thanks. It causes him to lift a hand slightly as if to stay her but his smile grows, "I am but one amongst many who do as they can. We all do our parts in some way."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The young woman gives a slow nod at Thor's response. "Many don't though. And it's appreciated how much of yourself you give to help us," she says, keeping her voice quiet to avoid drawing too much undue attention to the Norse God.

The woman glances down at the package that she's got resting on her knee. The look is a curious one, as if she doesn't know what's in the package herself. Though she doesn't open it, instead refocusing her attention back on Thor.

"My name is Vanessa, incidentally. Vanessa Carlysle," she tells him. "I'm living in Starling now but came back to New York to see a friend. The HyperLoops is such a blessing to have. Though, I suppose being able to fly on your own probably removes the need for it."

Thor has posed:
She might realize the answer to her question in the utter truth of the moment as Thor looks at her curiously, head tilted as his smile twists his lips upward a little with a hint of confusion. "What is a Hyperloop?"
But that is the moment when the Office Manager looks up from her monitor and states clearly, "Mr. Odensen?"
Which causes the man to look up and to the side, his attention snared.
"They're ready for you, if you'll please proceed through the blue door on my left?" She gestures with the proper hand as well to make sure that he's sent on his way correctly.
Which causes Thor to nod and smile back, though he does take a moment to turn back to Vanessa and gives a nod, "Was a pleasure, Lady Carlyle. I hope you find your friend and convey my well wishes to her as you would. Thank you for passing the time with me."
That said he turns and starts to the door. With little fanfare beyond that he's through. Though Vanessa probably gets some grins from the other people in the room.
